✨ In “Cinderella III: A Twist in Time”, Lady Tremaine steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand to reverse time and prevent Cinderella from marrying Prince Charming. In my free time, I have drawn Cinderella in a tattered and ripped dress amongst pumpkins in a pumpkin patch. This is my homage to the “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” sequence from Disney’s 1950 animated classic “Cinderella” and the cursed pumpkin carriage sequence from “Cinderella III: A Twist in Time”. In the movie, Lady Tremaine traps Cinderella, Jaq, and Gus in an evil pumpkin carriage. Lucifer is then transformed into an ugly human version of himself under orders to drive the carriage and to have Cinderella, Jaq, and Gus killed. After escaping from the pumpkin carriage, Cinderella and the two mice defeat Lucifer, who transforms back into his original cat form. The three friends race back to the palace on horseback to disrupt Lady Tremaine and Drizella’s evil plans. ✨🎃

Trien is kind of underrated in the father figure department for Yu tbh. He has children, daughters sure, but multiple kids. He's got to have some left over clothes hanging around that no one's using, and if he mentions to those kids that a child from a completely different world got dropped into his school with no belongings and no real way to get some I'm sure those girls wouldn't mind shipping over a couple grocery bags of things they were "going to throw out anyway" for Yuu to pick over. If the underwear and socks are still in their packaging, well nobody needs to know.

#okay i promise i'm going to get off tumblr and actually get something decent done #but i just have to mention that i started reading 'thief liar lady' #the cinderella retelling where she's pulling a con #which i did not have high expectations for because that concept screams 'we're going to prove how dumb the original cinderella story is' #so i have to give it credit that so far it's pleasantly surprising me by pulling back every time it's about to do something stupid #within the first page or two we have 'they say the slippers were glass and the carriage was made of a pumpkin which is so dumb' #which seems like standard cinderella bashing but it's also framed as an explanation of the magic system #as in 'this is a waste of magic based on the rules' not 'this story is stupid and my 'real' one is better' so i can live with it #we have the enemy prince she's trying to con but he's not a dumb strawman royal #he's actually a sweet guy and a shrewd diplomat #all the royals are actually getting credit for talents as well as flaws #no strawmen in sight (i still shudder to remember 'just ella') #it feels like real politics #and there is *so much* politics and i am eating it up #(which makes me realize that one of the reasons i love cinderella retellings is that there's a lot of potential for politics) #we did have a scene where she goes into the throne room and meets a strange disheveled nobleman lounging on the throne #which made me roll my eyes because you could not have had a more obvious 'meeting the ya love interest' scene #but then there's a scene where she's like 'i don't care about embroidery' #and i internally groaned #but then she's like 'but i do like the embroidery circle because it's relaxing to be away from the men for a while' #so to my delight i could cancel the 'not like other girls' alert #the queen is feminine and her social skills are presented as a vital political skill #the swearing is really stupid and out of place and brings the book down #and i know that there'll most likely be something that makes me stop reading it before the 25% mark #but i do want to give the book credit for pleasantly surprising me #i'm liking it more than i otherwise would because of all the ways i was expecting it to disappoint me

I keep thinking about how cute Louis is in the TRGB episode with his nephew, and how the two of us would probably babysit for him SO often, to the point where he starts to see us more as parental figures than his own parents since they hardly pay any attention to him. but I'm ALSO thinking about how Lawrence probably wouldn't like me at first and would lash out when Louis starts seeing me, bc he's so used to people not paying attention to him and he thinks I'm gonna steal all of Louis' time and attention away 😭😭😭

✨ I have rarely drawn the character of Cinderella for the strangest of reasons. I guess my initial thoughts were in relation to a possibility of not being mindful of how brilliantly she was animated by legendary Disney animators Eric Larson and Marc Davis, two of Disney’s Nine Old Men. Larson and Davis didn’t really see eye to eye on how Cinderella was to be animated. Eric Larson, who was one of the first animators on the movie, did more scenes of her and envisioned her as a sweet 16 year old girl with a pug nose. In his own words, Marc Davis saw Cinderella as a more sophisticated and exotic woman. Anyway, having watch scenes from the movie and studying rough animation drawings by the two animators, I believe I got a better idea for more drawing ideas and in how I handle drawing requests.

#roses and lavender #it just sort of sprung into my mind but -- ella's on the way to the ball #the horses get lost #they wind up at this castle which very clearly does NOT have a ball on but like. what else is she supposed to do. it's cold and dark and #she can see candlelight through the windows #the entire castle is FLABBERGASTED to see what appears to be an honest-to-god storybook princess walk through the door #of course the beast gets down there asap but as soon as he sees her he decides to keep lukring in the shadows #she's beautiful and bright and shining and he is -- not. #for her part ella is a nervous wreck #this was not what she signed up for when she stepped into that pumpkin carriage #she stays for dinner because let's be honest she's starving at this point #they talk a little over dinner. as one does. #there's a hunger in both of them for human contact and despite the awkwardness of the situation they end up talking for a long long time #they lose track of time #and suddenly ella's doing her reverse magical girl transformation #and then they're stood in this drawing room just very awkwardly looking at each other #the beast who's been lurking in the shadows all night afraid to sully this beautiful creature by even standing too close to her #and the servant girl playing make-believe who's suddenly found herself in the worst version of the emperor's new clothes #in the distance they hear cogsworth shouting 'why the FUCK did the FOOTMAN just turn into a HORSE?!?!?' #eta the song in question was the loneliest time by carly rae jepsen ft. rufus wrainwright
