Summary:
“You are going to hear a lot of terrible things about me. Most of it is going to be true.”
Being the hero who saved Hyrule from a bloody war was a thankless job that left Warriors with more regrets than he cared to remember. He only started to heal after meeting his fellow heroes from across time and joining them on their quest to defeat the black-blooded monsters.
But when his time-hopping journey takes him back home, he finds his kingdom on the brink of war once more. This war threatens to ensnare not only Warriors, but his newfound family as well.
Warriors will do whatever it takes to keep them safe, even if that means becoming a traitor to the kingdom he gave up everything to save. But the harder Warriors works to protect his family, the more the secrets of his dark past come to life. Who is Captain Link Walton, the Hero of Warriors? What happened to the two other heroes he had once fought alongside all those years ago?
When this is over, will Warriors even have a family left to save or is he doomed to repeat his past mistakes?
(Once, there were three brothers: the captain, the engineer, and the child. Their story did not have a happy ending.)
Hello! Welcome to a new chapter! Sadly, this one is not filled with the worst people you know making terrible decisions. Instead, this chapter is a set-up to enable those people to continue being Certified Hot Messes!
I hope this chapter is a satisfying read, even if it's not everything I was hyping it up to be. Nonetheless, it's as good as I could make it and I hope you enjoy reading it.
In this chapter of my very niche fanfiction that would get me canceled by BookTok:
Link learns how to enjoy peacetime
Warriors grapples with his role in the kingdom's political struggles
Everyone's favorite DILF is back!

one thing i find really difficult about navigating the IF space is the direct line of contact between readers and authors. we share the same space, and i think that plays a big part in this weird blurred line we have in this community and overall lack of boundaries.
for a lot of people this is a fun hobby and while i personally try to keep it... semi-professional most of the time, it's easy to get wrapped up in having fun on tumblr (or the forums, or reddit, wherever it is that you mainly post/interact) and have a lot of personal interactions with both readers and authors alike - which is fun! i like it more often than not, but i also think that's why a lot of comments in this space can end up being really entitled, over-familiar, and inappropriate.
it's no secret that most authors get really weird messages on here, and while this is also a problem on social media at large and not just specific to IF tumblr, it is still definitely a big problem in this community.
and to be clear i'm not saying that you can't be friendly with authors or readers (i've become friends with a handful of readers myself) and i definitely don't mean to imply that there needs to be a huge divide between us; that's silly - again, most authors are readers, most readers are authors, we’re just people on the internet sharing the same space. but all of us deserve to have our boundaries respected. this is my story, and we are strangers. as a general rule of thumb: if you wouldn't say it out loud to someone you just met, you probably shouldn't be saying it to a stranger online. especially anonymously.

Do you guys remember back in the day when authors had conversations with the characters at the beginning/end of a fic? Like breaking the fourth wall— we should bring that back.

Thank you for reading and leaving a review on both versions 🙂.
I was a little nervous about the 7 year time jump, but I enjoy playing with time…as folks who read A(A) know. But I understand if people don’t want to read and ‘spoil’ themselves though I was extremely careful to indicate the kinds of seeds being scattered (more than one kid, their ‘fave’ person, Olivia’s expansion, a turn in Fitz’s career, parenting philosophies, etc.) without spoiling any of the details of what’s been happening in those 7 years. Because A(A) will make those seeds properly bloom .
This one-off episode was my way of doing a pre post-post script to A(A), or in TV terms…a ‘Very Special Episode’ 🙂. And…pushing the Olitz sex in this version, even if posting this made me feel a bit vulnerable.
