Nia goes to Lena's apartment with her heart in her throat. She knew the instant Kara arrived at the Tower, tears in her eyes and reaching for Alex's reassurances, that the secret was finally out. But as Alex embraced her sister, Nia had been aware of only one thing-- that Lena would be devastated.

It might be rash to go to Lena while the discovery was still so fresh, while Lena was still likely stinging and stewing from her confrontation with Kara. But Nia did it anyway.

As soon as the door clicks shut behind her, Nia spots Lena by the wide windows that grant a view of the entire city spread out below. Though Nia has hardly snuck in, Lena doesn't turn to look at her. Instead she keeps her eyes on the window, her arms wrapped around herself.

"Lena..."

"Get out."

Lena's voice is flat and ice cold. It warns Nia against saying anything further, but her heart takes no heed.

"It wasn't my secret to tell..."

Lena scoffs. "Of course not," she drawls.

Finally she turns, and Nia almost wishes she hadn't. Lena's features are sharp and lined with fury, just burning for an outlet.

It's found one.

"And I suppose next you'll tell me that you begged her to tell me? That you refused to be her friend until she told me the truth?"

Nia's heart catches in her throat. She now knows she should have done exactly that. It seems so easy now, so simple to have withheld support from Kara and lend it to Lena-- who arguably needed it more.

But she hadn't.

"Lena, please--"

"It might not have been your secret to tell but she made it your lie to keep. And you let her. And you let ME continue thinking that she-- that ALL of you trusted me! That you all CARED!"

"We do!"

"Liar!" Lena shouts, angry tears dashing upon her cheeks. She pauses then, and her features screw up against the burgeoning sobs in her chest. "You knew! You all KNEW! I was the only one--"

She cuts herself off. Pulling back, Lena wipes her cheeks. She schools her face back into a mask of disdain, though tears continue to glitter on her lashes.

"Lena, please!" Nia coughs around her own tears. "Just let me explain--"

"You chose her heart over mine," she says finally, "and that's all I need to know." She scowls. "Now get out."

"Lena--"

"Now!"

Sensing she's reached Lena's limit, Nia doesn't dare to push any further. She swallows, then gives a faint nod.

On her way to the door, Lena speaks out one last time.

"And tell the rest of your... super friends... to keep their distance as well. Or else I won't be responsible for the consequences."

With her hand on the doorknob, Nia grinds to a halt. Anger flashes through her-- for the idea that Lena would do any of them harm. For the idea that Nia would believe she would.

In that moment, Nia gives into the cattiness that rises within her.

"We're not done," she warns.

She slams the door on her way out.

Engine Stalled AU

Traveling across the country on an amazing roadtrip was supposed to be the best summer of best friends Character A and B’s lives. Greasy food, rockin’ tunes, and quality time with their favorite person in the world. It spelled the beginning of an amazing new chapter in their lives.

After seeing the World’s Biggest Ball of Twine, they stumbled back into the car and hooked the AUX back up for some good old Barenaked Ladies, but Character B’s phone must have played the wrong song because instead of “Pinch Me,” Character B’s voice memo played out over the speakers.

“Audio Diary Entry #34: I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I want to tell them how I feel, but I can’t. Everything is so messed up. I wish I could change things. I wish I could stop being like this -- the last thing I want to do is ruin this, or us, or anything. God knows... <sigh> To be honest...I just wish they would ruin me.”

After a long period of silence, Character A glanced over at Character B’s frozen face. “Well, this is going to be an awkward 1,500 miles, isn’t it?”

The bats had no idea what they were looking at. A very large vehicle that looked like it shouldn’t possibly be able to run was speeding around Gotham in no particular order. Almost as if it was looking for something. It took all of the bats over an hour to chase it down and contain it to question the driver.

A man with black hair and blue eyes that remind Bruce of his late father looks out the window, and says, “We’re looking for our son.”

A woman in the passenger seat that looks like Bruce’s mother adds, “The self sacrificial idiot jumped through a portal into another dimension trying to save a cat.”

The man nodded along, “It’s not really a cat though.”

“Well, what is it?” Tim asked, genuinely confused.

“It’s the alternate version of our son from a timeline where he went evil.” The woman responds.

“But don’t worry, he’s not evil anymore!” The man grins.

Bruce had questions. “But why would your son be a cat?”

“Because our daughter—the girl cloned from the current version of our son, that is—decided to shapeshift into a dog and chase him through the multiverse.” The man replied.

“So our other daughter, the older one, she decided to alert us, but she couldn’t wait, so now she shapeshifted ito a bird to try and catch them that way.” The woman continued.

“Are all of your children shapeshifters?” Bruce asked.

“Yep.” The man said proudly.

“Are you?” Bruce asked.

“It’s complicated.” The woman shrugged, “Using the GAV is faster.”

Bruce was very thankful that the cowl covered most of his face. Everything the people said just made his brain hurt worse.

Reverse Clone AU

So, I've seen a couple stories where Danny is Damian's clone. How about we reverse it?

Danny was born Damian Al Ghul, being raised to be an assassin since he could walk. However, he had a good heart, and eventually his mother overstepped around him (maybe she killed one of his favorite caretakers? Maybe he saw her killing someone with a loving family?), causing him to decide to leave the League next time they let him outside.

He was discovered by the Fentons, got adopted, and had his name changed from Damian Al Ghul into Daniel 'Danny' Fenton. Over the years, his time in the League slowly faded from memory, only remembering that one moment that drove him from them.

Talia, meanwhile, tried to create another baby, but found she didn't have any more DNA from Bruce. However, she did have plenty of Damian/Danny's DNA, so she decided to simply clone her son, making sure that this one would never get it in his head to run away. She decided to let the memory of her first son go, completely overriding it with the new Damian, as if he had been the first son and not merely some clone, forcing everyone in the League to keep the fact a secret.

So, things continue on, Danny becomes Phantom, Damian becomes Robin, so on and so forth. Eventually, one of the Batclan stumble upon Danny and take an interest in him once they realize he looks like Damian.

They actually don't think that he's a clone, because he's older than Damian and records show him having a history older than Damian, so they believe that Talia had another child, which Damian is already a little salty about, because it means that his status as the heir of the League and potentially his title as the only blood son of batman are completely meaningless.

Unfortunately, their investigations lead to the League figuring out where Danny is, at which point Talia drops by and decides to reveal in front of everyone that Danny is the original Damian and Damian is a clone meant to take his place.

The only one who takes it well is Danny, who tells everyone to get off his porch before he activates the home defense systems because he does not care for this drama.

There are no more heroes.

Well, okay. Rewind a bit.

Danny has been doing the hero thing for a while now. He’s had a big reveal; everyone has accepted him (including his parents), the GIW disbanded, the Anti-Ecto acts repealed, and generally, everything is going great. Some of the A-Listers are even training as junior ghost hunters to help give him a break from his rogues! (Being Ghost King makes things hectic sometimes, and he just needs the extra help. Sue him!)

The point is, literally nothing is wrong with Danny Phantom’s afterlife.

And then Valerie Gray, the Red Huntress, disappears in front of his eyes.

Danny is baffled! She’s just…gone! Valerie just popped out of existence, like she was never there. But no matter how hard he searches in the Ghost Zone, he can’t find her soul anywhere. His core isn't broken in grief. So she’s not dead. Which is good. So then, where is she?

Some of the others come forward with ideas on how to find her. A few ghosts volunteer to go out into the mortal realm, an area Danny had declared off-limits, to see if she was out there. Danny approves it. He rounds up some of the friendlier (i.e., discreet) ghosts and Amity Parkers and demolishes the outside travel ban.

So everyone spreads out, looking for their dear frenemy and teammate. But it becomes apparent very quickly that something is wrong with the rest of the world.

There are no more heroes.

Every single living superhero on the face of the Earth has just…vanished. Villains are running amok; the countries are in chaos! Some aliens are invading Earth, mythical deities are trying to take over, and society is crumbling to the ground. Everything is on the brink of collapse.

Well, Danny was still there. And so were his people. They were pretty spread out, so could they just…take up the mantles? He also knew where to find the souls of dead heroes in the Zone; surely they wouldn't mind coming out of retirement for a little bit, especially if they couldn't die again. Oh! And that skeleton army leftover from Pariah Dark's reign might be useful in repelling those invading forces.

Honestly, there were more than enough hands to go around! And with the heroes gone, Danny didn't mind letting everyone out for a little break, as long as they followed his rules. They wouldn't stop the search for the other heroes, but hopefully, when they found them, the heroes wouldn't mind Danny's intervention too much. :)

In other words:

Someone fucks up, and all of Earth's living heroes are either wished out of existence or are whisked away to some far-off realm where Danny hasn't checked yet. In the attempt to figure out what's going on, Danny lets the dead run amok over the Earth as they search for clues. The skeleton army repels the invading armies, the souls of dead heroes deal with the world leaders, and his rogues and other Amity Parkers set up shop in place of famous heroes, trying to get the cities under control again.

Basically, they just do their best to keep everything from imploding until the Justice League and others are back.

(And why is it that Danny hasn't disappeared? Well, whatever caused everyone to go poof! only affected living heroes. Anyone heroes that were dead in the first place, or even just half-dead, stayed behind.)
