A couple of rhinos casually walk inside a building as if they own the joint (video) It's not often you see a rhino wander into a building to check things out. Unless, perhaps, you're in Nepal, where a curious pair ambled across a room at the Chitwan National Park. (See video below, shared by Indian Forest Service officer Sushant Nanda.) — Read the rest https://boingboing.net/2023/02/10/a-couple-of-rhinos-casually-walk-inside-a-building-as-if-they-own-the-joint-video.html

The Magdeburg Unicorn is an alleged Unicorn fossil that is on display at the Museum of Natural History in Magdeburg Germany. The Magdeburg Unicorn is described as bipedal horse-like fossil with little to no body, a horse-like head, a long tail, and a very long horn on its head. The fossil was first discovered in 1663 in Germany and the people that discovered the fossil thought they found a Unicorn however after the reconstruction, they realized that something seemed off. Later, testing was dine on the fossil and it was determined to be the fossil of a Wooly Rhinoceros and not a Unicorn. The Magdeburg Unicorn has been deemed as one of the worst fossil reconstructions of all time but, it still sparks the imagination that Unicorns and other creatures may exist and be out there.

one of the funniest things in scum villain to me is that shen qingqiu spends however long griping about how proud immortal demon way did a shit job describing that rhinoceros python bitch and what’s “it roared like a combination of a rhinoceros and a python” supposed to mean etc. and then he finally sees one and goes oh i get it now, it roars like a rhinoceros AND like a python! whilst describing sounds rhinoceroses and pythons absolutely do not make. i guess i just have to wait until the day my delicate health gives out while i’m stewing about this, and then i can finally understand too

1. Border Collie ejected from car during Sunday crash found on sheep farm, herding sheep
Tumblr media
Tilly, the 2-year-old Border Collie who was ejected from a car Sunday during a crash, has been found. He was found on a sheep farm, where he had apparently taken up the role of sheep herder.
According to Tilly's owner, he has lost some weight since Sunday's crash and is now drinking lots of water but is otherwise healthy.
2. After 17-Year Absence, White Rhinos Return to the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Tumblr media
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) recently welcomed the reintroduction of 16 southern white rhinoceroses to Garamba National Park, according to officials. The last wild northern white rhino was poached there in 2006.
The white rhinos were transported to Garamba, which lies in the northeastern part of the country, from a South African private reserve. In the late 19th century, the southern white rhino subspecies was believed to be extinct due to poaching until a population of fewer than 100 was discovered in South Africa in 1895, according to WWF.
3. UK to wipe women’s historic convictions for homosexuality
Tumblr media
Women with convictions for some same-sex activity in the United Kingdom can apply for a pardon for the first time, the Home Office has announced.
The Home Office is widening its scheme to wipe historic convictions for homosexual activity more than a decade after the government allowed applications for same-sex activity offences to be disregarded.
It means anyone can apply for a pardon if they have been convicted or cautioned for any same-sex activity offences that have been repealed or abolished.
4. Study shows human tendency to help others is universal
Tumblr media
A new study on the human capacity for cooperation suggests that, deep down, people of diverse cultures are more similar than you might expect. The study, published in Scientific Reports, shows that from the towns of England, Italy, Poland, and Russia to the villages of rural Ecuador, Ghana, Laos, and Aboriginal Australia, at the micro scale of our daily interaction, people everywhere tend to help others when needed.
5. In a First, Wind and Solar Generated More Power Than Coal in U.S.
Tumblr media
Wind and solar generated more electricity than coal through May, an E&E News review of federal data shows, marking the first time renewables have outpaced the former king of American power over a five-month period.
The milestone illustrates the ongoing transformation of the U.S. power sector as the nation races to install cleaner forms of energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels.
6. Iceland becomes latest country to ban conversion therapy
Tumblr media
Lawmakers in Iceland on June 9 approved a bill that will ban so-called conversion therapy in the country.
Media reports note 53 members of the Icelandic Parliament voted for the measure, while three MPs abstained. Hanna Katrín Friðriksson, an MP who is a member of the Liberal Reform Party, introduced the bill.
7. The temple feeding 100,000 people a day
Tumblr media
Amritsar, the north Indian city known for its Golden Temple and delicious cuisine, is also renowned for its spirit of generosity and selfless service. The city, founded by a Sikh guru, embodies the Sikh tradition of seva, performing voluntary acts of service without expecting anything in return.
This spirit of giving extends beyond the temple walls, as the Sikh community has shown immense compassion during crises, such as delivering oxygen cylinders during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the heart of Amritsar's generosity is the Golden Temple's langar, the world's largest free communal kitchen, serving 100,000 people daily without discrimination. Despite a history marred by tragic events, Amritsar continues to radiate kindness, love, and generosity.

Actually I'm going to bite something
Shen Jiu never defends himself properly by actually explaining the reality of the situation. He doesn't even allow Shang Qinghua to tell Liu Qingge that he wasn't trying to stab him in the back and was actually protecting him
We all know this about Shen Jiu right?
Okay
Shang Qinghua never explains to Shen Qingqiu that he tried gave Shen Jiu advice in the hopes it would save Liu Qingge
He never explains why the python rhinoceroses weren't at the alliance conference
I know he does explain that he lost his og outline and pandered to the audience but did he ever explain why it was necessary for him to do that? Did he ever explain why he struggled?
Goddamnit Airplane
Did you learn to stop explaining because no one believed you anyway?
Was it easier to pretend you were lazy and morally corrupt than to defend yourself because of past experience?
Is it easier to just take the blame and pretend it doesn't hurt?
But then you finally snapped and yelled and explained and complained and stood up for yourself
And the result was Mobei Jun coming when you called and saying you could be angry (hit him) and agreeing to make you noodles
Anyway I have a lot of feelings about Shang Qinghua

I'm only about 30 minutes into the gentlemens don't win mario party and the lore of this universe is simply mindbogling. Apparently rhinoceroses are hunted in the Amazon and the goombas are going extinct. Spencer has three balls instead of one and he also has a nephew suffering from consumption due to working in the mines. Apparently they're in Queen Elizabeth's reign, while also King James is in power because the 13 colonies have only recently been established. BUT at the same time the Titanic is about to take on her maiden voyage. Now mind you tho, this is also while LeBron James is dominating the league and strangely there is a concerning amount of dick injury which then leads to dick sucking from ones comrades for some reason. 🤔
I wonder what we'll find out next ✨

[ A jar in the shape of an ibex, retaining one natural horn, found in the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun. Photographed by Robert Harding. ]
"Millennia ago, northern Africa was much wetter and cooler. Monsoons struck periodically, and the Sahara was covered with lakes and vegetation. This greener version of Egypt was home to a mix of wildlife more like the one now found in East Africa, with 37 species of large mammals including lions, wildebeest, warthogs and spotted hyenas. The region began to dry out about 5,000 years ago, a time that coincides with the fall of the Uruk Kingdom in Mesopotamia (located in present-day Iraq) and the rise of the pharaohs in Egypt. The Egyptian people at this time switched from a mobile, pastoral life to one of agriculture and subsistence hunting. The new research shows that several species of antelope, along with giraffes and rhinoceroses, disappeared around the same time—extinctions that could be due to overhunting of herbivores. Shortly afterward, the long-maned lion vanished. Egypt became even drier around 4,200 years ago, during a time known as the “First Intermediate Period” or the “dark period.” The region depended on yearly flooding of the Nile to inundate the land and leave behind nutrient-laden silt to feed agricultural fields. But during the dark period, this flooding became inconsistent, crop yields dropped and famine ensued. War and chaos reigned, and eventually the Old Kingdom—and with it, the “Age of the Pyramids”—ended. This is when the roan antelope and African wild dog disappeared from the records. A third aridification event occurred about 3,000 years ago, again bringing drought and an end to the New Kingdom, a time that included Tutankhamun and 12 kings named Ramses. Egypt’s short-maned lions, revered as sacred and even occasionally mummified, vanished around this time. Then about 150 years ago, as Egypt’s growing population became more industrialized, more species disappeared, including leopards and wild boar. Today, only 8 of the original 37 large-bodied mammals remain."
- Excerpt from "Egypt’s Mammal Extinctions Tracked Through 6,000 Years of Art" by Sarah Zielinski.
