You have met Hongjoong during Ateez's pre debut years. You both were out on late night stolls and bumped into each other.
"Oh, crap I'm sorry." You said as you took your pods out but what you didn't know is that the person in front of you would change your feeling of love forever.
Over the past few moths you both go to know each other, go on dates, and just enjoy each other's time.
"So if you could do or be anything what would that be." He ask you as you both laid out on the blanket in a secluded area that would now be your spot.
With the strength you had you turned to lay your head on his chest. "I would say I want to be a butterfly, for the simple fact that they have pretty wings and they are calm."
Hongjoong have let out a hmm in agreement and you both stayed there for hours.
That was what felt like yesterday and neither one of you wanted to let go but the time was near for separation
He knew that he could continue dating you even when he goes back but he felt that he would never truly give you the time you deserve especially with him debuting soon. So during his last few weeks he would always have his camera to capture everything and he would always write letters so you could miss him less once this was all said and done.
You both had planned to hang out on his last night there but he had other plans. He was scared of telling you goodbye, he wanted his last memory of you to be happy and not sad so he sent you a message telling you to go to your spot and to enjoy your treasures hunt.
You were confused but you went and the first thing you saw was a basket full of everything you could dream of and the next stop was almost like a movie theater with a note saying "enjoy our little movie my starlight."
You let of a soft chuckle as you watched they movie to the very end bringing tears with your eyes but you quickly wiped them away heading to the last stop on your hunt thinking he would be there but you were wrong.
It was a letter. A simple letter, it did hurt that he wasn't there but you smiled at what he had done for you. You had done something for him to but you'll save it for your next meeting, if you ever would meet again.
Dear y/n,
Are you sitting at our spot crying right now? Please don't cry my dearest. Please smile for me even though I'm not physically there. I know that you are upset that I didn't show up, but I was just to scaed to say goodbye to your face. Huh, what a coward right? I guarantee that when you read this I will be in a meeting with the boys as we get ready for our leave.
Sure, we’ll be time zones apart, an ocean away, but, really, call me whenever you need, whenever you want. Don’t even worry about it. I want to hear about your day, what you’re up to, how classes are, anything, everything.
And I promise that I will never forget you, you made me understand what love feels like. I miss you so much already. Please just "try not to forget me."

This was months ago, but the calls and the texts they didn't last long. Due to him being busy debuting, and you starting your business neither one of you had had time any.
As the month and years went by you both would visit that very spot and leave notes as if you both were still madly in love. Even though you went more than he did, you could always smell him lingering around as if he never left.
You never forgot him and he never forgot you. He was just the right person at the wrong time.

Joe makes his way to him and sits right as the panel moderator appears on stage. He gets an excited smile as he arranges his coat.
“Sophie,” he replies to Nicky’s unvoiced question.
“Everything okay?” his green eyes look concerned. Joe grimaces.
“Honestly I don’t know.” He shrugs in perplexity and turns back towards the stage.
This fic has been fighting me a lot, but this is the last part i fiddled with.
