Along the road, contemplating last bus missed and golden opportunities--”if only” is empty, listless...

Exhausted thought, plodding along open highway, vision sharpens and it appears clearly, the swollen

sky incapable of containing divine secrets, highway signs gleaned approximate, prom- --ising terminal climb

onward, and for the lack of anything missed for opportunities are illusory in beguiling mist.

Before it was known as the #LoneliestRoadinAmerica, #Route50 was anything but. In the 1850s, the #GoldRush sparked a #caravan of wagons to head #West along the thruway. According to the #Highway50 Association, the #RoaringRoad (as it was called) became so congested at times that hopeful miners and their families would have to wait days before they could access it—a Panama Canal of sorts, standing between the new #frontier and the old. By the turn of the century, the #road became California’s first State Highway and eventually connected the nation’s Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Old Playground in Missouri. In the midwest along Rt 50, there are so many small towns some still thriving some are now almost ghost towns. I found this "town" thanks to a father and son I met fishing after following an interesting sign about a historic bridge they told me about this town with a Mill that was being retired.
