With its low-angle long takes and shots of buildings and landscapes bridging scenes, There Was a Father is unmistakably a film by Yasujiro Ozu. What doesn't seem characteristic of Ozu is the didactic, moralizing tone, the persistent stress on duty, on hard work, on self-sacrifice. You don't need to check the release date for the film to realize that this was Ozu's contribution to the war effort in the form of home front propaganda, very much in the manner of Akira Kurosawa's The Most Beautiful (1944) and Keisuke Kinoshita's The Living Magaroku (1943), designed to encourage greater wartime productivity. What sets Ozu's film apart from those two slightly later films is the relative absence of actual reference to the war, except for the grownup Ryohei's passing his draft physical and the remarkable moment when Shuhei encourages his son to bow at the shrine to his dead mother and give her the news. Ozu gives us a Japan in which life goes on, not one in which consciousness of the enemy dominates every waking moment. It's a film without much of a plot, in which the dramatic tension stems from the always postponed hope of father and son that they will one day live together. The main thing that keeps There Was a Father from becoming mawkish is the beautifully controlled performance by Chishu Ryu, Ozu's favorite actor, who had the great ability to play characters of almost any age. In Early Summer (1951), for example, he plays Setsuko Hara's brother, while in Tokyo Story (1953) he plays her elderly father-in-law. In There Was a Father we first see him as the dark-haired, stubble-bearded widower, raising the young Ryohei; by the end of the film Ryohei is grown and Shuhei is gray-haired and ill, but he's vividly convincing in both appearances. He also makes the determinedly self-sacrificing Shuhei convincing, when he gives up his teaching job because he feels responsible for the accidental death of one of his students, and even his moralizing speeches bear the weight of conviction. There Was a Father is the work of a great director forced to compromise by a totalitarian regime and managing to remain as true to his art as circumstances will allow.

Flufftober day 22: Watching the Sunset

Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn

Pairing: Hana Kurosawa / Ryohei Sasagawa

"Stop!" Hana cried out, and Ryohei slowed down. She stopped, her hands on her knees, and managed to breathe somehow.

"I'm sorry, Ryohei, I... I can't run anymore." she purposefully fell on the fresh grass and just laid there. If Ryohei wanted to bring her home, he would have to lift her up. Period.

"I'm sorry to the extreme, Hana! I didn't notice that you were so tired!"

"Tired, you say? I'm DEAD." Ryohei laid down beside her, who jumped a bit: "What are you doing?"

"I'm lying beside you, so people will think we're chilling." Ryohei answered, as if it was obvious.

Hana took the time to find a proper answer, didn't manage to, then laughed heartedly.

"Oh, Ryohei, this is the most... Sweet thing you ever did for me!"

"I'll do it more often to the extreme, then!" Hana smiled at that big, muscular idiot, and for the first time she realised he was the one.

"Shall we watch the sunset together, Hana?" he asked, "If you're still tired to the extreme when it's done, I'll carry you home."

"Like... Piggyback?"

"Piggyback to the extreme." Ryohei nodded seriously. Hana laughed and perched a small kiss on his lips. He really made her feel good, and free, and... A child again.

And it felt so good.

Akira

1. Ao contrário da crença popular, o nome verdadeiro de Akira NÃO é Akira !! Seu nome verdadeiro é Kurosawa Ryohei. (E a razão de seu nome ser Akira é HILARIO. Um respeitado aluno do último ano da escola disse a ele: "Você se parece com alguém que se chamará Akira" e foi assim que surgiu o nome)

2. Akira é o primeiro embaixador global asiático do sexo masculino de Ralph Lauren.

3. Akira jogou futebol desde o 3º ano do ensino fundamental ao 3º ano do ensino médio. Suas habilidades no futebol são tão boas que ele chegou até o colégio por recomendação de futebol e quando foi para o Reino Unido para uma expedição de futebol.

4. Embora Akira seja TÃO BOM na dança, ele não começou a dançar aos 16 anos. No entanto, ele melhorou super rápido, ele partiu para Tóquio com 18 anos para dançar.

5. Em 2007, tornou-se instrutor de dança da EXPG e em 2017, tornou-se diretor da EXPG.

Tetsuya:

1. Desde a turnê ao vivo do Exile Tribe, Tetsuya preparava café para todos, incluindo os artistas e equipes. Em 2015, iniciou a AmaCo e em 2017, tornou-se diretor da LDH Kitchen.

3. Em 2016, Tetsuya se tornou professor convidado da Universidade Shukutoku, ensinando ciências humanas.

Tetsuya não frequentou a universidade para obter o bacharelado, mas frequentou a Waseda University for Sports Studies como mestrado.

4. Tetsuya tem 175 cm, o que o torna o menor e o mais baixo no Exile The Second.

Nesmith:

1. Nesmith é misto, seu pai é afro-americano e sua mãe é japonesa. Seu pai era um soldado dos Estados Unidos e ele demorou um pouco para conhecê-lo quando foi para a América.

2. Como Mandy e Elly, Nesmith sofreu bullying desde jovem por causa da cor de sua pele e características faciais.

3. Ao contrário de Elly, Nesmith nunca falou inglês desde o nascimento em Kumamoto e só falava japonês. Seu primeiro contato com o inglês foi quando foi para New Jersey estudar música e lá conheceu seu pai.

4. Nesmith abandonou o colégio para seguir carreira na música, mas sua banda (STEEL) acabou após 1 ano de atividade. Ele então foi para os Estados Unidos estudar música e depois voltou para o Japão para se juntar à audição da segunda geração do J Soul Brothers.

Shokichi:

1. Shokichi tem 2 irmãos mais novos, e um deles é Masayasu Yagi do Gekkidan Exile.

Ambos têm uma relação engraçada de gato-cachorro / amor-ódio, onde ambos se insultam de uma forma amorosa.

2. O colégio de Shokichi é muito ativo nos esportes e ele jogou beisebol desde o ensino fundamental até o ensino médio.

3. Enquanto Shokichi frequentava a EXPG em Sapporo, Tetsuya, que foi lá como palestrante, notou-o e o ofereceu para se juntar a segunda geração do J Soul Brothers, e portanto ele se tornou um membro ativo da 2JSB e mais tarde como membro do EXILE.

4. Shokichi é, pessoalmente, o membro musicalmente mais talentoso da LDH. Além de Atsushi, Shokichi compõe e escreve suas próprias músicas, bem como as canções do grupo. Ele também toca piano, guitarra, guitarra elétrica, teclado, bateria e mais 60 instrumentos que eu provavelmente não conhecia.

5. O melhor amigo de Shokichi naLDH e na vida é SWAY de D.I !! Ambos de Hokkaido e se conheciam muito antes de qualquer um deles estrear. O relacionamento de irmãos é amplamente celebrado pelos fãs do ExTribe e os membros da ETS (Exile The Second) e D.I (Doberman Infinity ) também gostam de provocar os dois a respeito disso.

Keiji:

1. Keiji sonhava em ser um jogador profissional de beisebol desde jovem, mas não conseguiu entrar na seleção para o time de beisebol Koshien. Então ele foi para o ensino médio e se formou em culinária. Ele então adquiriu qualificações para cozinhar / chef e se tornou um dos melhores cozinheiros em LDH / EXILE.

2. Porque Keiji é bom em cozinhar, mas ruim em arrumar, seu tipo ideal são garotas que podem compensar coisas nas quais ele é ruim. (Ele também disse que acha as garotas atrevidas bonitas).

Keiji mencionou diferentes tipos ideais em diferentes programas. Em um programa, ele disse que gosta de garotas que são um pouco selvagens e travessas, enquanto em alguns outros shows, ele disse que gosta de garotas que ficam bonitas quando sorri e são inteligentes e gentis.

No final, ele decidiu que não pode decidir de que tipo de mulher gosta.

3. Keiji cozinha bem e gosta de cozinhar. Ele disse que se não se tornasse um dançarino, ele se tornaria um chef e cozinharia com prazer para seus filhos e esposa.

Ele também mencionou que gostaria que seu primogênito fosse um homem porque ele acha que se preocuparia muito se fosse uma menina.

5. Keiji foi escolhido como o membro mais selvagem do ETS. Ele basicamente enlouquece durante as turnês ao vivo. Por causa de seu corpo incrivelmente tonificado, ele também gosta de se despir descaradamente durante os shows (como 90% dos outros membros do ExTribe).

Kenchi:

1. Embora Kenchi tenha mudado seu nome artístico para Tachibana Kenchi, Tachibana Kenchi ainda NÃO é seu nome verdadeiro. Seu nome verdadeiro é Kenichiro Teratsuji (as razões serão explicadas no item 5).

2. Sempre houve rumores de que Kenchi era uma mistura um mestiço com sua ponte nasal alta e características faciais distintas, mas na verdade ele é puro japonês. Existem muitos fãs que até pensaram que ele era do México quando ele estreou.

3. Quando questionado sobre sua namorada / vida amorosa, sua resposta é "ela ainda não está aqui", mas os fãs do ETS estão de olho nele porque ele pode anunciar os detalhes de seu casamento do nada: '). Mas Kenchi mencionou sobre seu tipo de ideia. Ele gosta de garotas altas e com um corpo bonito.

Ele também disse especificamente que gosta de garotas com longos cabelos negros, com cheiro agradável de shampoo e que têm lábios como cerâmica (suponho que isso signifique lábios carnudos?).

4. Kenchi ama, ama, ama muito Sake (álcool japonês). Ele até trabalhou como bartender em bar japonês porque adora beber saquê. Ele até publicou uma coluna em uma revista falando sobre a atratividade do saquê. Em 2018, ele foi nomeado Sake Samurai (Sake Samurai é um título dado àqueles que amam o saquê e a cultura japonesa, e têm a paixão e o orgulho de espalhar o saquê pelo mundo).

Ele também disse que quer abrir um bar que sirva especificamente para saquê.

5. Enquanto Kenchi estava estudando no Departamento de Engenharia Elétrica e Eletrônica da Universidade de Meiji, ele também estava dominando AMBOS o chinês e o inglês ao mesmo tempo, seu esforço foi recompensado, pois agora ele é responsável pela LDH Ásia, especificamente Taiwan e China (Omi é responsável pela LDH Europa e Ryuji é responsável pela LDH EUA).

O nome artístico de Kenchi, "Kenchi", foi derivado de seu nome real "Kenichi" e ele queria um sobrenome japonês, mas fácil de pronunciar pelos não-japoneses, porque ele está viajando para o exterior como membros do EXILE. Depois de muitas considerações, ele se estabeleceu como Tachibana Kenchi (os possíveis candidatos eram Nakata e Sakata).

General life updates ;

Might quit petsmart soon to go to animal grooming school so i can be a groomer

Ive already spent too much on ikemen vampire. I got arthur's 5* as well as the limited edition cast 5*, and im over halfway through mozart's route.

Im a big ol slut for arthur bc kimura ryohei and i cant help but hear shun when i hear his voice and its ///// 💜💜💜

In ikemen sengoku im finally on shingens route. Its nice to finally date a guy in this game who doesnt try to murder you at first and is instantly a nice soft boy. But he does kidnap you but i mean, at least he does it better than kenshin (no offence kenshin)

I still miss hideyoshi's route :(((

Uhhhh otakon is coming up and im still waiting on my hideyoshi toyotomi wig and my akashi kuniyuki wig and ruby kurosawa wig.
