5 Must Have for a Hygge-style home to turn your home into a cosy and relaxing retreat.
1) Fireplace or stove.

Fireplace and wood burner inspirations for contemporary interiors
There's nothing quite as comforting as coming together with family around a warm, crackling fireplace. Whenever possible, I incorporate a fireplace or wood burner into my projects, as they not only serve as a cosy focal point for the family but also add a captivating feature to the interior. Below, I've provided a few examples where I've integrated a fireplace or wood burner:
This is library space in one of my projects in Richmond, I designed a mantlepiece that beautifully marries the timeless charm of a traditional fireplace with a contemporary touch, seamlessly blending with the overall look and feel of the entire interior.
Wood burners add a stylish central feature to your home, offering a more relaxed feel compared to traditional fireplaces. In this family home in Teddington, I designed a sleek concrete bench that complements the polished concrete floor, all while providing ample space for firewood storage. On top, I added a contemporary wood burner, which created a central point in the main living area.
This South Kensington apartment already had a stunning marble surround that was unfortunately overshadowed by a dark hearth and insert. To restore the fireplace's grandeur and allow its true beauty to shine, I replaced the previous hearth and the insert with lighter stone, which not only harmonized with the mantel but also breathed new life into the entire space. The fireplace became a centrepiece of the room, radiating timeless elegance and captivating charm.
Which one is your favourite?
