WIP Wednesday

I’m trying to focus a bit more on my writing so.... here’s a post about my works in progress. It’s sort of a sad list, because I have abandoned a lot of ideas and given them up. And still, I am happy that I have these ideas, loose ends, bits and bobs, because I know they can be good to find. 

First of all, I have Soul-utions to myth-conceptions that I’m writing in a collab with @evakuality. We are just about to post chapter 12 and we are writing on chapter 16. Five more chapters left, and I’m really excited about beginning to wrapping things up! I mean, it’s not like I want to leave our Matteo and David, but I just really want them to get their happy ending. 

My fairytale/ folktale Evak story. I started on this thing in December 2019, but quickly found out that it didn’t quite work. It will need to change a lot. We’ll see how that goes. I still like the main idea, but I might simplify it. This story was originally also mixed with this tarot card idea, and I am thinking about splitting up these ideas. One fairy tale story. One tarot story. We’ll see how it goes. 

Here’s an attempt at making edits that I can paint later. As you can see, I’m trying out different styles etc.:

I have another folktale idea, but I don’t know what to do about that yet. Maybe it won’t fit any of my ships, so I’ll end up writing something original. I also want to write something in Norwegian.

Isak smiles, studying Even with one narrowed eye.  Even shuffles closer, smiling back, but withdraws his hand at the sight of Isak wincing, again, as he accidentally brushes his thumb over the tip of Isak’s nose.

“I’m sorry.” Even feels his own smile falter.  “For getting you into this whole...thing.”

“Don’t be.” Isak’s upper lip curls.  “I was the one who, uh. Started it.”

Even shrinks back a little.  Thinks of Isak’s vibrating presence outside the bar, the ferocity of his stare as he’d strided up to Mikael.  His red knuckles in the emergency room after, grip tight around Even’s hand.

All the questions Isak has asked him over the past weeks.  His knitted eyebrows as Even tried, with increasing desperation, to shrug them off, like it was nothing.  Nothing that Isak should care about.  The hurt and confusion Even had known must be in there, behind Isak’s suspicious eyes.  How helpless Even felt knowing that he was the reason for it.

He never meant to keep secrets from Isak. There were just these things Even never knew how to tell him.  These ugly, difficult memories he’d hoped that he could leave behind.

god i think my brain is broken because this took me too long to understand. did you mean the 2nd day of the 1st month of ‘21? so 1/2/21 or 2/1/21 (if you’re not a silly american)?

that’d be cute if it was included in fics! i know people were also excited about isak turning 21 last june, which would’ve been his golden birthday. i don’t know of any stories that used the date/time for important events though. if you do, let me know and i’ll reblog them!

I’ve been trying to understand, interpret, analyze, and rationalize ‘love’ for a while now. I’ve consulted the best philosophers, the best psychologists, the best neuroscientists and done extensive literature reviews. But I think they’re all wrong. 

They’re wrong because they don’t know love. They don’t know it like I do. 

I know love. I’ve known it for a while now. 

Love is the way my wrists feel in your hands. Love is the way you kiss my forehead when I’m pretending to be asleep. Love is the way you brush your thumbs over my knees when I’m nervous, the way you squeeze my thigh in dark bars and hold my hand at crowded parties. Love is how you know what to say to get me to leave my own head, how you always catch me when I’m spiraling, how you always know how to kiss me deep and slow on late night buses. 

Love is your smile, in the corner of your eyes where I love to kiss the most, in your Trondheim transit card that I love to borrow. Love is what I feel for you when you have trouble smiling, trouble leaving bed, trouble taking a shower. What I feel for you when I see your dry (redacted) on my pants or one of your socks at the end of my bedding. What I feel for you when I wear one of your sweaters. What I feel for you when you bend your knees to make yourself look shorter at concerts everyone is off-key and terrible. 

Love is the way you laugh, the way you kiss, the way you love. 

Love is the way you make me burn for your touch.

My nerdiness, my reignited love for Star Wars, and my need to bring two of my most beloved things together. I just couldn’t stop wondering how Isak and Even would fit into this universe and what roles they would possibly occupy. And how they could still be them with everything else around them being so vastly different. How to bring SKAM issues and Star Wars lore together. I hope some fellow nerds appreciate it. :-)

Grace: What inspires you about this story?

It’s two of my favorite things: Star Wars and skam! Love how the characters are transported into the Star Wars universe so perfectly it’s been such a joy to read!

I want to try something I have thought about for a long time, to make a short comic. Maybe for Skam, or for Druck, I haven’t decided. I also have an idea for a Skam story where each chapter has a tarot card with a character or a scene. And I started on a fairy tale thing earlier this year, but I think I’m gonna do some big changes with that, so it might end up quite different. And then it’s like a new fic, isn’t it?! So yeah. Lots of ideas, and we’ll see what I’ll start to do first!
