snake of the day!

this is a northern ringneck snake, named for the ring of colored scales around its neck. these snakes usually grow to about 10-15 inches long, and they're native to southern Canada, Mexico and certain parts of the US. they're nocturnal animals, but fairly common and are known to have a diet of primarily earthworms and small insects. they are docile and not aggressive or venomous, so are often kept as pets.
