there is like negative 5 obi writings on this mf app. here is my take. let's pretend shirayuki has her own 2 knights, like zen, and you happen to be one. there's already an established relationship between you two.

late nights comes with a soft breeze. sitting in your window, you watch the night sky sparkle, and the city dim as citizens go to bed. shirayuki had gone to bed already and you were left trying to sleep. the night gave you space to breathe, and time to relax.

"the moon is beautiful, isn't it?" you heard a voice next to you ask. you recognized it immediately. you turned your head to the side, resting your chin on your hand.

"well hello pretty boy." you cooed out. obi let out a soft laugh and moved closer to you, jumping off the balcony bars. "did you climb the tree to get up here?" you asked raising an eyebrow. he smirked, "what if I did?". you rolled your eyes. "doors exist you know."

he pouted. "well that's no fun." he inched closer to you. you both stood side by side and watched the sky. there was much comfort in each other. you rested your head on his shoulder. you murmured to each other how your day was. he turned slowly and headed inside.

"are you heading to bed soon, love?" he asked while plopping himself down on your bed. you sighed slowly, still taking in the night sky. "yes, in a minute, why?" you asked. "no reason." he said flatly. you rolled your eyes and turned around to face him and came face first with his chest. "come to bed now." he said. he startled you with how quietly and quickly he approached you. you smiled softly. "okay, okay i'm coming." he gave you a quick smile and kissed your forehead softly while grabbing your hand. as you both got into bed together it was intimate. it didn't always have to be sexual, but it was always close. there was a sense of comfort and safety you found in each other's arms. it was something no one else could give.

it was bound to happen. obi always fell asleep first. he slept peacefully and quietly, (if he snored you would have killed him...) and looked like a beauty while sleeping. you two were facing each other, and he had his arm around your waist. you two were practically nose to nose, and you could feel his exhale on your lips. you had sleeping problems, and this was nothing new to you or him. it was hard sleeping when your guilt and fear kept you up. there was nothing waiting for you on the dreaming side except horror. obi had taken notice of how tired you were and your bags under your eyes. he knew better than to just ask, so instead he opted to be with you. it gave you comfort to know he was there. he would make stupid jokes about chasing the bad dreams away, and how he would protect you from them. it was endearing.

"how long are you going to keep staring at me." he said, his eyes still closed. flustered, you backed up a bit. "i wasn't staring i was just...um.." he opened one eye with a mischievous smile. "im just teasing." he said as you smiled. he pulled you in closer, where your head was under his chin, and his arms were wrapped around your head. you wrapped yours slowly around his chest. he cared for you in a way that made you feel warm. you felt loved, like you deserved. like you both deserved.

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the biggest reveal.....

ZEN HAS AN UNCLE. The job listing was done at HIS REQUEST! Zen and Shirayuki will both be meeting him.

The interesting part is that he goes by the name Shinsu Jiran(シンス·ジラン). WHY DOESN'T HE TAKE THE WISTALIA LAST NAME?! Perhaps Zenyuki isn't the only case where noble married a commoner?! Anyway, so much speculation there. He is more likely an uncle from KAIN SIDE (aka. Zen's father) but were not 100% sure.

What if...

Izana's whole speech about you can't have what your heart desires (Ch 10), was foreshowing this whole time to Kain's backstory. A noble/commoner marriage that happened in past and Izana trying to prevent the stigma from reoccurring (I may be overthinking and getting ahead of myself)

I AM READY FOR THE FAMILY TEA 🍵 (aka. The drama and angst) and the possible reveal of YOUNG KAIN.

And finally Zenyuki....

It’s time for first Friday fic night!

Last month we returned to Teen Wolf.

This month it is Snow White With the Red Hair. Poll at the end for what we should cover next month!

I'm really excited this month to talk about what may be my favorite fandom. This list was a little harder because for all that there are fewer fics for this ship there is such a wide array of feels and themes to pull from.

I have to start off by acknowledging my favorite author in the fandom, Sabraeal. I love everything she writes but I feel like linking to each of her fics would be overkill. So instead, here are three that I feel in my bones and that fit the theme. I can guarantee you will see more of her work in future posts.

Seven Suitors for Shirayuki, by Sabraeal

I have reread this fic so many times that I actually lost count. The same can be said for the companion fic 100 Headaches for Haki. Just, Obi's devotion to Shirayuki, and Obi & Haki's friendship, and Haki shipping the hell out of Obiyuki, and Shirayuki growing into herself are all just. Fantastic

I have a lot of daydreams.

Adventure is the most interesting and exciting genre in anime that I have enjoyed the most. I experience homesickness for a place that does not exist in reality. To be rewarded, join a guild and complete board missions. making friends and collaborating to achieve future goals, and then splitting up to pursue those goals. Baggage, horses, swords, shields, bows and arrows, and magic are all available. A bar with a beautiful and handsome bartender, grumpy or idiotic customers, meeting places, and a relationship: I'm very excited to embark on a journey and participate in cosplay.

Adventures with a dash of fantasy will make me happy. All of these things are exciting: the prince's castle, guards, the prince's aides, herbalists, libraries, sailing, beautiful gardens, crowded markets like festivals, horses again, moon lakes, picking flowers, picnics, window shopping, bake shops, smithereens, book shops, herbal shops, arc bridges, horse carriages, wheat fields, silos, windmills, hills, relationships, making friends, dueling, and sparring. I'd like to go through it, wear whatever clothes I want, and roleplay. I played Genshin Impact and I love to immerse myself in that fantasy world.

I adore the adventure and fantasy romance genres, but there is only one show that depicts what I'm looking for in that genre. I'm delighted to share with you my favorite show, Akagami no Shirayukihime (Snow White with the Red Hair). I adore this show, and its art style has inspired me to create my own.

I won't talk about the show; it's up to you to figure it out, or, should I say, watch it without knowing the backstory or reading the synopsis. I adored the show and wished to own some of its art books. I will treasure the nostalgia and homesick feelings it gave me. Because this is a rare feeling, I want it and more. What would you say if you had the chance to express how you feel right now? Writing or action? When I talk about how I look in a princess cloak and gowns and an adventurer's cloak, my heart leaps with joy. I'd like to do a roleplay of one of my favorite shows, and if the opportunity arises, I'll do so. I'm extremely shy, but I'll give it my all.Thank you for reading this; I appreciate it. Romance Anime Starter List

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m sick and tired of seeing “Top ___ Best Anime of All Time” lists that are nothing but shounen. So, with "My Happy Marriage" getting a little attention from the anime community, I wanted to put together a list of some romance anime that I consider good “starters” for the genre. Because if I were just now becoming an anime fan, I’d think all there was to offer was shounen action series.

And by “starters” I mean basic stuff that’s not too…out there, and actually involves the characters getting together instead of just harems or using romance as a side plot (sorry Ouran High School Host Club and My Next Life as a Villainess). 

So if you’re new to anime and want stuff that’s not just guys beating the shit out of each other (which is also fun, don’t get me wrong), here are some basics.

Taisho Maiden Fairy Tale- When the pessimistic Tamahiko Shima loses all function in his right arm, his family sends him away to live in the mountains with the cheerful, hard working Yuzuki Tachibana…who was purchased by the Shima family to pay off her family’s debts and basically act as a caretaker/future bride for Tamahiko so they’d never have to deal with him again. It’s a more cheerful version of My Happy Marriage (without the supernatural stuff), except in this one, the guy is the one who has massive self-esteem issues and an abusive family. There are still very serious themes, but ultimately it’s not meant to make you cry every episode. I swear it’s so good, but nobody watched it!

Horimiya- A slice of life in which pretty and popular high school queen bee Hori, finds out her quiet, unassuming classmate Miyamura is hiding piercings and tattoos that could get him expelled. The two gradually find out more about each other and get together in the most realistic way I’ve seen depicted in an anime. It’s also fucking hysterical and genuinely emotional.

Recovery of an MMO Junkie- Another slice of life that focuses on two adults who meet in an MMO game without realizing they also know each other in real life. I don’t want to say much more than that. It’s adorable, and the main character is so relatable it hurts.

Love with Yamada-kun at Level 999- Speaking of MMOs, this is a newer series about Akane Kinoshita, a college first year who’s reeling from a bad break up. In an attempt to get back at her ex, she winds up meeting Akito Yamada, a popular gamer who happens to be in her guild in the MMO they both play at an IRL meetup. The two go from acquaintances to something more as they keep running into each other. Even more relatable main characters and just wholesome relationships all around.

Snow White With The Red Hair- A fantasy in which an apothecary named Shirayuki (meaning, you guessed it, “snow white”) runs away from her home in order to escape becoming the concubine of her town’s prince. While fleeing, she is rescued by Zen, the prince of a neighboring country, and she ends up becoming an herbalist to repay him. It's super cute with some genuinely swoon worthy moments and a couple that just works so well together. I have a habit of comparing this to Akatsuki no Yona, even though the two aren’t really that alike. This is more romance driven while Akatsuki no Yona is more of a serious historical fantasy with romance elements (Yona manga is amazing, but the anime barely scratches the surface, so that’s why I didn’t include it).

Sasaki to Miyano- When the shy, easily flustered Miyano meets Sasaki, a cool “delinquent” upperclassmen, the two end up bonding over manga…specifically BL manga. That’s right, Miyano is a fudanshi, but due to his small stature and somewhat feminine appearance, he’s constantly trying to convince others that he’s not interested in having his own love story where he’d be reduced to a stereotypical doe-eyed uke. But as Sasaki and Miyano spend more time together, they realize that what they have is more than friendship, and they have to come to terms with their own perception of gay relationships. This is my favorite romance of all time. It’s a slow burn, but boy is it worth it. Their relationship is so natural and realistic, just like Horimiya. Just two people hanging out and bonding over things the way people do in real life!

Given: The story of some boys in a band with trauma. Enough said. It's great. Go watch it.

Bloom Into You- Yuu Koito is a high school girl who’s been waiting her whole life for her own perfect romance to start…but when she receives a confession, she realizes she doesn’t know how to respond when she’s just not into the guy. And then she gets another confession…this time from the cool student council president Touko Nanami, who basically jumpstarts her lesbian awakening. Very cute story about how we perceive the concept of love vs actually feeling it. Also has a canonically aro/ace side character, so that’s a win for me. Another show like this is Adachi to Shimamura (but I honestly don’t remember much about it. It just didn’t stick with me as much).

Ore Monogatari- Takeo Gouda is a tall, bulky high school first year with a sensitive heart of gold. He wants nothing more than to find his own true love, but most girls are intimidated by his enormous stature, and they end up falling for his conventionally attractive friend instead. That is, until he meets the tiny, adorable Rinko Yamato. He falls in love instantly, but he’s sure she’s interested in his best friend like everyone else, so he vows to help get them together, even though his heart is breaking. Peak himbo behavior. Pure of heart, dumb of ass.

Yuri on Ice- Yes it’s the gay figure skating anime everyone knows. And yes it’s a fucking romance, okay? I will die on this hill. The romance between Viktor and Yuri is just as important as the plot!

Kaguya-sama Love Is War- Two insanely smart high school students both have a crush on the other, but since they’re…you know…high schoolers, neither of them wants to admit it first. So they come up with increasingly convoluted plans to get the other to confess first. This will go down as one of the best of all time. It’s a hilarious yet poignant modern classic.

Fruits Basket- I’ve talked about it before and I’ll talk about it again. A romance “comedy” that slowly morphs into a drama about a girl named Tohru who finds herself living with the mysterious Sohma family after her mother dies. Little does she know, the Sohmas are the victims of a  (somewhat silly, but ultimately tragic) curse that she must fight to break. Even though I’m more into it for the family drama, the romance is still top tier and plays an important role in the story. This is my second favorite anime of all time, and it’s a classic for a reason. If anyone hasn’t watched it yet, GO WATCH IT! IT WILL RIP YOU TO SHREDS!

And now for some honorable mentions that didn't quite fit into the regular list:

Ride Your Wave- A movie about a surfer who falls in love with a firefighter……and I’m not going to say any more than that. Go into it blind. If you like stuff like Your Name, this is a good one to watch.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun- A comedy about a high school girl who finds out the upperclassman she has a crush on is actually a shoujo manga artist, and no matter how she tries to confess to him, he just never gets it.

The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague- A slow burn slice of life that focuses on a guy with ice powers who has a crush on his coworker. That’s it. That’s the show. When I say slow, I mean SLOW. It’s perfectly cute and fluffy, but my god does it take forever to get anywhere with these two.

Skip to Loafer- A high strung, small town girl decides to go to high school in Tokyo, where she meets a variety of classmates, including the laid back Sousuke Shima. The unlikely pair become friends, and soon enough, she starts to feel something more than friendship. The only reason I didn’t include it in the main list is because they don’t get together by the end of the first season, but it’s still really cute (also canonically trans character for the win!?)

So that’s my starter list. And no, I didn’t include Toradora, even though it’s a classic. I know it’s blasphemous, but I like it more as a comedy than a romance. It kinda lost me with the ending. But anyway, maybe someone will find something they like. Or maybe you'll just want to roast me and my picks 😅

scars like mine

let’s say you have scars like obi does, just from your work as shirayukis knight. kind of how he acts with them, or how he sees them.

you’ve collected scars over the years from your time as a bodyguard and protector. being on a lady like yourself, it has caused you to garner some words you wish you’d rather not hear.

“no one will ever marry you looking like that!!”

“you would be so beautiful if it wasn't for those pesky scars...” older men would say shaking their head. 

rolling your eyes, and biting your tongue, you would just keep pressing forward. it shouldn’t of been as important as it was to other people that you had these markings. it wasn’t something you had minded until more recently. maybe they were causing you to...look more unattractive than you had wanted. it was hard to ignore those who had kept saying the same things over and over again. that was until you had met obi. obi was someone who worked for zen. he was sweet, and funny. he joked around, but always took everything seriously when it mattered. he had a contagious laugh. 

“you’re beautiful” was the first two words that left his mouth when he first saw you. he looked stunned, his mouth slightly hanging open and his eyes wide, as if he was trying to soak you up as much as he could. it made it look like it was the first and last time he was ever going to see you. of course, you were taken aback. that was the last thing you were expecting to hear out of his mouth. you chuckled nervously- maybe he was joking?

it hadn’t been long after that you two had started dating. there was an instant connection and he made you feel things you never knew you could feel. he was kind and soft. you loved spending time with him. as you laid in bed together you were facing each other. not much was being said, and you were starting to close your eyes. you felt a soft callused hand on your cheek, fingers moving over your lips and nose. 

“who did this to you...” he murmured. your eyes opened slowly to see his eyes fixated on your nose and eyebrow. you knew why he was looking there. there was a scar running across the side of your nose, and one through the arch of your eyebrow, running up on your forehead. there was also one on the right upper corner of your lip, and a simple slash under your eye. he had never asked about them before. he didn't want to make you uncomfortable. you had often worried about them, but after being with him, you felt better about yourself. he made you feel that way. 

“it was a long time ago, probably when I was first starting out. it was either me or shirayuki. i made sure they never touched her, she didn’t do anything to deserve it.” 

“well, you didn’t deserve it either.” he said frowning a bit.

you chuckled nervously. “it is what it is, and she is safe. i didn’t mind them, until more recently...” you said avoiding eye contact. he furrowed his brows. “why do you mind now?” he questioned. “ahhh well...you know...people talk....” you said quietly. he sighed quietly. 

“you’re beautiful.” he said sternly. “there isn’t anything wrong with having scars. they’re not something to be ashamed of.  you lived through something, and it shows. that is simply it.” he said cupping your face. you softly smiled. 

“thank you my dear.” you kissed his nose softly before further snuggling into his chest. he held you close like you hoped he always would.

first Friday fic nights!

I read A. Lot. of fanfic so my spouse convinced me I should use my powers for good. So, 

Welcome to first Friday fic night. On the first Friday of each month I’ll be posting a roundup of fanfic I’ve read and loved in the last month, or all time favorites.

Predominant fandoms are: Snow White with the red hair (obiyuki), Attack on Titan (Eruri), BNHA (todobaku), teen wolf (sterek, look I know I’m garbage okay?). Not all fics will be ship-fics.

I almost exclusively read cannon universe, cannon divergence, cannon future fic, or fix-its. It is super rare that I read any AUs so you are unlikely to see any coffee shop or high school AUs in the recommendations though there are some that have snuck in over time.

Each month I’ll try to focus on one fandom and/or a single theme.
