Kick the cat out of the bag!

Warning: If you like Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir you should turn back because I'm salty at this boy and the creators of this show and I won't hold back.

If you feel the same, enjoy with me this trip down the salty road.

Chapter 6: The second entry: Frozen Attitude

Author Note: Hi guys, I hope you are doing good! I don’t know if you do, but I have a Tumblr account named EmpressOfTheSunWriter, there I also post my stories and news like how far I’m with the newest chapter, if I need your opinion, if I can’t write because I don’t have time and other thinks like that. If you want you can even ask me questions about my stories! I just wanted you to know because it will be important in the future. You will know how in the end note, but for now, enjoy the newest chapter. :D

“There she is!”, you shouted happily and waved Marinette over. “Hello Marinette, it’s so nice to see you again! I love your outfit!”

Indeed she looked super cute in her get-up for the ice ring. She wore a veserity jacket in black with cherry blossom along her sleeves and her pink jeans. Instead of her ballerinas, she wore pink sneakers and her hair was out of her pigtails into a cute ponytail with a little pink bow.

Gosh, you could eat her up!

Marinette blushes cutely and gave you a shy smile.

“Thanks [Y/N], I made this myself.”, she told you and played with one sleeve.

“You are a real artist, Marinette. It looks so awesome!”, told Luka smiling.

Luka still had his ripped jeans, sneakers, and his favorite Jagged Stone T-Shirt on, but he wore today the dark blue college jacket you gifted him for Christmas last year.

“Thank you, Luka…You both look good too.”, said Marinette and blushed adorably.

Could you just kiss her cheeks? That girl was too much for your heart!

Luka rubbed all shy his neck, while you did a little twirl in your outfit to show it off.

You have gone all out to impress Marinette…and Luka you had to admit.

“Thanks, Mari, can I call you that?”, you asked.

Marinette nodded.

“Mari is okay.”

“Awesome, you can call me Harmony then if you like, it’s Luka’s nickname for me.”

The midnight black-haired girl got a curious glimmer in her eyes.

“Harmony? Why Harmony?”, she wondered.

Normally you used a shortened version of the name of the person like you did with her.

Luka answered her: “Because her heartsong is the most harmonic one I ever heard. You won’t find a second person who is so…in balance, in harmony with themselves like [Y/N] over here.”

Playful he gave you a hair ruffle and you pecked his cheek for it.

“Aww, thanks baby, you aren’t bad yourself!”

Maybe you were imagining it/or hoping for it, but you could swear Luka turned a bit red.

“Mmh, I wonder what my heartsong sounds like.”, mumbled Marinette to herself, but you heard her.

“Beautiful I bet with you!”, you said passionately. “I’m a good people connoisseur and you Marinette are beautiful inside and out!”

Under your praise, she turned red like a tomato and you would bet that steam came out from her ears.

“Don’t overstate poor Marinette.”, Luka whispered to you.

“But it’s true, you told me yourself!”, you whispered back.

Before you could turn Marinette even more shy two luxury cars came up.

One silver, one red.

In one was Adrien and the second this girl Kagami.

Like someone gave her a signal Marinette turned with lovestruck eyes to the silver car.

Then that was Adrien.

Dear god, the look in her eyes was creepy you had to admit. It was like all ceased to exist and only the car in which Adrien was in it was important.

You and Luka shared a look. This was going to be a hard mission.

Adrien exit his car and waved cheerfully at you guys.

You grind your teeth and had to use any known force in the universe not to straight up walk to him and give him a punch in his stupid face.

Fucking bastard.

How dare he act like a decent human being, while he let people die?

Didn’t he have any remorse?

A Conscience?

Luka wasn’t any better than you. You saw how rigged he had become and how his hands were now fists.

Yeah, one wrong word and you both would kick Adrien’s ass into next week.

The only one happy to see him was Marinette.

She waved enthusiastically back and nearly fall over herself if you and Luka didn’t grip each one of her arms. She gave you a thankful look for that.

Adrien didn’t see Marinette little flatter, because he had gone up to open the car door for his date Kagami.

As you saw for the first time Kagami your heart stopped.

No, no, no, no!

This was so unfair!

She was a pretty girl, clearly Asiatic, with similar midnight black hair as Marinette, but she had warm brown eyes. Her build was athletic, you could see it even with her wearing a red skirt with black leggins and black boots and a black jacket with golden accents.

She hold herself proud and faced you three heads on without any sign of nervousness.

You gripped Luka’s hand hard and whispered in his ear harshly: “What the fuck?! Why is this beautiful amazon princess interested in fucking Agreste? What the fuck has he that Marinette and her worship his limpy straight-white-ass!”

“You forgot Adrien is a model.”, he whispered back. “He is good-looking.”

You gave him a blank look.

“You are good-looking, no hotter than the sun that’s why nearly everyone at school, boy, girl, whatever wants to jump your bones. That guy over there is just your typical blond boy! I wouldn’t touch that even with a 10-meter pole!”

“And that you know who he really is doesn’t disturb your look, right?”

“Of course not!”

How could Luka think that? People like him, Marinette, and Kagami were your types!

Damn you really needed to free Kagami also from Adrien’s clutches, you wouldn’t mind going on a date with her!

Mmh…could you four maybe date all of each other…?

Adrien was surprised but happy to see you. He didn’t quite get why Marinette had invented you to their doppel date with Luka and Kagami, something about it been now a three and two date, but he wouldn’t look a gifted horse in the mouth.

This was his chance to clear his name.

Even if he had to do it as Adrien.

Anything to get his lady and Paris back in his good graces.

He still was a bit angry at her that she again denied that they belonged together, but he would make her see, how she needed him!

Anyway, he took Kagami’s hand and lead her over to you, Luka and Marinette.

Marinette stand before you two and each of you was holding one of her arms and if Adrien saw it right you and Luka were holding hands.

Mmh, how strange?

Wasn’t Luka Marinette’s date?

“Hello, Marinette and Luka! And you must be [Y/N]! It’s nice to meet you!”, he greeted you guys.

No one, not even Kagami with her sharp eyes, could see how you have done it but suddenly Marinette was between you and Luka and you were each holding one of her petite hands.

Surprised Marinette looked from Luka’s hand to yours and blushed. She felt strangely safe, being in the middle of two people who were older and taller than her.

Each hold her hand like it was something precious.

She never expired something like this.

“I bet it does, Agreste.”, you said with a fake smile. “Please call me by my last name, if you would, I don’t feel comfortable hearing my name from your lips.”

Not only shocked this Adrien but also Marinette and Kagami. No one ever reacted to Adrien in such a hostile way!

“Do we have a problem here, Miss…?”, started Kagami to defeat her crush and eyed you.

“[L/N].”

Kagami nodded.

“You are the one who made the video about Chat Noir. Thank you for showing us the true colors of this treacherous cat, but it seems you have something against Adrien and you don’t know him.”

Adrien groaned in his mind. Kagami too had now something against his other self. Had you turned everybody crazy or what?

And why did you keep looking at him, like you wanted to skin him alive? Well, not only you, but Luka looked also ready to help you skin him.

What was wrong with his friend and you?

You gave Kagami your best smile and answered nonchalantly: “I only need one look to decide if I like someone and sadly I can’t say that Agreste here is sympathetic to me. But I will be on my best behavior, I just want that Agreste accepts my boundaries…if he can!”

When you said accepts my boundaries…Adrien had the feeling you were challenging him.

But why?

“Of course, he will, right Adrien?”, turned Kagami to him.

He let something out like a yes. He was so confused.

“Then we should enter the ice rink.”, said Luka.

Adrien felt under Luka’s blue cold eyes like a mouse before a cat.

Ready to be eaten.

And normal he was the cat!

What was going on?

Well, you were now in the ice ring and putting on your skates and cloves.

You and Luka watched Adrien’s every move like two hawks, ready to jump in if a problem should arise.

But he behaved like a normal person.

Okay, it was not like you thought he would just stand up and suddenly kiss and touch Kagami or Marinette without their consent, just he couldn’t play his golden boy role the whole time!

You were sure.

No one can hide that well his true self.

Little bits always came up.

You just needed to catch him and show Kagami and Marinette what a piece of shit he really was.

It seems like you would get your chance since you saw how Adrien scoots over to be beside Marinette to talk to her.

Luka and you already moved closer. Better being near her.

“It was really cool of you to bring Luka, Marinette.”, he told her.

“Of course. That's what friends are for.”, she answered.

“Say, how do you know [Y/N]?”

There was his first slip-up. You told him not to use your first name and he just did with Marinette!

You needed to see how Marinette would handle that and if he would come up with an excuse.

She wrinkle her nose cutely and tied the laces of her ice skates.

“She told you to call her by her last name. I don’t know why but it’s better when you do it when you even talk about her, so you don’t slip up.”

Marinette was too good for this world. She actually gives him some advice?

Adrien just nodded.

“She is the one who made the Kickat-Blog too right? So how do you know each other?”, he wanted to know.

“She is Luka’s girlfriend and asked me out on a date too, so we decide to make it a three-way date.”, she explained.

You felt how Kagami looked interested over. She probably didn’t know any polyamorous people so the concept was new for her too, but she seemed only couries about it.

But the blond boy besides Marinette seemed like someone gave him the news that his cat die or something.

“What? Is this allowed? I only thought you can have a wife or a husband!”

“So you are against LGBTQ+ people?”, you said with a voice colder than the ice of the ice ring.

Luka stood beside you and fixed Adrien with his coldest glare.

Even Kagami and Marinette looked shocked at him. Like they couldn’t believe what he just said or like they never thought he could say something like that.

Adrien looked between you all and turned red.

“What?”

It was Kagami who answerd him.

Her voice had a quality that made out the nordpole to be a nice summer vacation spot.

“Adrien…I sincerely hope that I just misheard you or that you never heard about polyamorous relationships, since my mother taught me to respect all genders, all sexuality, and all romantic orientations that exist even if I don’t understand them. I would never say something so…so…”

“Heterosexual and white?”, you helped her.

She gave you a thankful nod.

“Precisely.”

“Adrien…”, nearly whimpered Marinette. “Do you have something against the LGBTQ+ community?”

You don’t know for sure if it was acting or true but the boy gasped and shook his head.

“No of course not I mean I never heard about that you could date multiple people at once, I always thought it was only wife and husband, wife and wife, or husband and husband. I didn’t mean to offend [L/N] and Luka. And you Marinette of course.”

Damn you were so close. Marinette and Kagami seemed to accept what he said.

“Does it mean you are bisexual, Marinette?”, Adrien asked her.

Marinette turned red like a tomato.

“Erm…I’m not sure.”

You decide to help her as fast as you could. So you took her hand and helped her up from her sit.

“Agreste, you should be more sensitive. This is Marinette’s first date of this kind and she doesn’t need to choose a label yet. Hell, she doesn’t need one period if she doesn’t feel like it. Asking people so random about their sexuality is not nice.”, you pointed out.

“I didn’t mean to, sorry.”, he whined like a kicked puppy.

If you didn’t know who he truly was you would fall for his little act, but you know, so you just scoffed and lead Marinette over to Luka. You took with your free hand his and lead them both on the ice.

Kagami watched you, Luka, and Marinette having fun on the ice. You three were cute together, she had to admit. You and Luka treated Marinette like a princess, twirling her around and dipping her, and you and Luka skate together like a well-oiled machine.

She saw how Luka picked you up and throw you in the air, where you made a backflip and landed before an applauding Marinette. You grinned at her flirtatious and the younger girl got all shy and giggled.

The fencer thought Marinette was a rival for Adrien’s affection, but seeing this…you three seemed to fit together.

But still, she had to wonder…

“Did you invite them because you were scared of being alone with me?”, she asked Adrien, with who she held hands and was skating.

“Of course not.”, tried Adrien to resure her. “It's just that I asked Marinette to help me.”

“Help you with what?”

“Uh... to perfect my figure skating skills.”

Unconvinced Kagami let out a little hum. Something was going on, she just felt it.

“What is your deal then with [Y/N]? You keep staring at her.”

Indeed she had caught him looking at you plenty of times. It wasn’t amorous ones, for which she was grateful. Still, what was going on?

“I just…want to talk to her.”

“About what?”

“About her blog.”

Kagami stopped them and stared at Adrien in disbelief.

“Adrien.”, she began. “Aren’t we currently on a date, even if it’s a three and two date? We should enjoy our time together we can talk later with the others.”

Adrien rubbed his neck and didn’t look her in the eyes.

Someone who couldn’t look you in the eyes, always had something to hide from you, had her mother once told her.

“It’s just…don’t you think she was a bit too mean to Chat Noir?”

What did she hear right now?!

“I hope you are joking Adrien.”, hissed Kagami and let go of his hand. “Since my mother drowned in the ocean that Syren created!”

With that, she skated away from him.

She needed time to think.

Currently, you watched how Luka dipped down Marinette and twirled her around, while you followed them laughing.

This date was so much fun!

Spending time with Luka and Marinette…you could get used to it.

It was just wonderful.

In your musings, you didn’t catch how the ice skating instructor Philippe tried to convince Marinette and Luka to join his skating school, but you saw an angry Kagami with crossed arms skating all alone and Agreste who leaned on the ice ring.

Seems like he did slip up and Kagami tried to calm down.

Well, you couldn’t let that happen.

She needed to keep holding on to these feelings or she would never see Adrien as who he was truly.

So you skated up to her with your arms behind your back.

You two skate in silence for two rounds. It was a comfortable silence. Kagami seemed to like or at least tolerate you. She didn’t seem the type to hide her opinion on people.

“Wanna tell me what Agreste said, that made you so angry?”, you offered. “Or we can continue to be still and skate.”

Kagami eyed you. You didn’t seem to ask because you were nosy…it seemed more like you wanted really to lead her an ear.

“Normally Adrien is the perfect gentlemen.”, she began. “But he said something so incredible unsensible that I’m questioning myself what I’m doing here with him.”

“What did he say?”

“He said you were too hard on Chat Noir on your blog and if I agreed. I do not. Not only because my mother died because of the cat’s unwillingness to be a decent hero, but because like you said Chat Noir isn’t a hero and needs to be stripped off his ring.”

Wow, you wonder how stupid Adrien could be. You thought he was the least smart since he know he couldn’t act as Adrien the way he did as Chat Noir because he would face consequences, but this changed your mind.

“Kagami can I ask you a question?”, you started.

She nodded, meaning you could continue.

“Why do you even like Agreste? I needed one look at him to see he his a limply whiny brat who has his own head so far up his ass that he doesn’t care for anybody but himself. So what draw you to him?”

Kagami blinked and frowned. That was a good question. They were good fencing partners, but besides that…?

What was there?

“I…don’t know.”, she admitted aloud. “We fence together, we both come from rich and strict families, I thought we had so much in common. But hearing him defending Chat Noir…what kind of person does that?”

“Someone who is just like him.”, you told her straight forward.

The younger turned her head to you and you could see the storm of emotion in her brown eyes. You patted her shoulder and gave her a little piece of paper with your phone number on it.

“Think about it, Kagami. And if you ever need someone to talk to, you can call me.”, you offered.

With a last pat, you skated towards Luka and Marinette.

You hoped this was enough to kill Kagami’s crush.

Now you needed to take care of Marinette’s one.

Marinette felt bad to decline the offer of the ice skate instructor, but she already had so much to do as Ladybug, and her workload wouldn’t be less in the future.

“Hey, guy’s what did I miss!”, you sang and made a pirouette before Luka and Marinette.

Luka laughed at your happy attitude, it always made him happy when you were happy, while Marinette asked: “Was that a Hamilton reference?”

You and your best friend stared at her with big eyes and you took Marinette’s free hand in yours.

“You know Hamilton?”, Luka and you asked exited.

“Erm, yes!”

“Oh my god, Mari!”, you squealed. “We need to totally watch it together and sing the songs! Me and Luka love Hamilton to death!”

“It’s our favorite musical.”, added Luka.

Marinette got a big smile on her face and squeezed your hands.

“It’s mine too. I wouldn’t mind watching it together.”

“Then it settles, that will be our seconde date!”, you decide and raised your fist in the air. “How about next Saturday?”

Before Luka and Marinette could agree, the ice instructor was before you and practically yelled: “Oh young lady, you have such passion and a beautiful voice and I saw the flawless pirouette you just did. Why don’t you join my ice skating school?”

You blinked and shrugged your shoulder.

“Erm, okay.”

It was like you gave the men back all his hope or something, this happy he was. He hold for you the inscription form and gave you a pen to write your name down. After that, he made a high jump and sing-songed: “Oh Mister Mayor, sir!”

And skated away.

You three looked confused at him.

“That guy is enthusiastic.”, you said finally.

Luka and Marinette could just nod.

Adrien was still leaning all alone on the ice ring and wondering what he was doing wrong.

Kagami ignored him now totally and actually joined you, Luka and Marinette skating.

At first, it seemed Marinette and Kagami didn’t know how to act around each other, but after a few minutes, Adrien saw how both girls laughed over a joke Luka made. You were just grinning and seemed to be really happy about something.

Currently, Marinette and Luka were skating in a pair, while you skated with Kagami.

He never saw Kagami smiling at him like she smiled at you. She seemed to dare you to do something, but you shook your head and seemed to argue back.

Then to his surprise, and also Marinette and Luka, Kagami raised you over her head, you who was a head taller than her, and then dipped you down which turned you into a tomato.

Luka and Marinette laughed and gave a round of applause.

Adrien felt for the first time in his life left out. Normal anybody wanted to be near him and he didn’t like that very much, but now he felt how much he missed that.

It was all your fault, he decide. You created the blog that destroyed his reputation as a hero and now you were taking away his friends and his date. Not that he really was interested in Kagami, his lady hold all his heart, but it's about the principle here.

He saw how you gave Kagami a little kiss on the cheek. She turned a lovely shade of red and touched the place like in a trance. You giggled cutely and Luka and Marinette were cooing at you two.

You said something and shoved Kagami to Luka and took Marinette’s hand. Luka and Kagami looked at each other and shrugged their shoulder. They didn’t hold hands but skated together like they were old friends, talking and laughing.

You twirled Marinette and then gave her cheek a little kiss too. The squawk she made could hear Adrien even from his place. Marinette blushed red like a rose and buried her face in your chest, while you hugged her laughing.

This was his chance!

With Marinette around you surely would hear him out! She probably would agree with him and anything would return to normal.

So he skates up to you guys.

HI! I took a personality test to match me w characters recently and the results came out with Gisele Yashar from fast & furious as one of my top 10. Since you’re the resident f&f expert (or rlly the only one I know tbh💀) what does that say about me and my personality?

Also Dominic Toretto was also a match that was fairly high on my list so what are your opinions on that?

(I’m genuinely curious so I hope you don’t mind me asking 🙃🙃)

Hi! I dont mind you asking at all! To be honest with you, my main f&f frame of reference would definitely be relegated to those first two movies, maybe a bit of the the third, fouth, and los bandoleros, so take everything with a grain of salt.

I don't know you, so I can't tell you what exact traits from her mean about you, but I think Gisele craves intimacy and closeness with people, in one way or another, based on the observation that she is fairly quick and confident to act on her attraction to people (e.g. Don in F&f4 and Han in 5). Honestly I think Gisele is more of a brain than a heart, not in the sense that she doesn't care about people, but she is so thorough and observant of those she's to that I think the more interested she is in a person, the info she learns about them. To her, it's an expression of attraction (e.g. telling han her observations about him as a way to build report/flirt). But what's great about Gisele is, failed attraction is not the end of the road, she's comfortable building friendships with people who've rejected her, like Dom. I think she craves closeness in general and that's why the happiest when we see her is in Brazil with a tight knit group of people who treat each other with fondness and closeness. She's tough, strategic, thorough, and charming!

Dom Toretto is very straightforward, he has his own moral code of what's important to him and therefore worth maintaining the sanctity of. Law, is not important to him but people are, which we see all over the movies. Now, the Dom from the 1st F&F is a little bit more self-serving, he's still not above crime but his world in Los Angeles was so small, relegated to 5 other mouths to feed and that's it. it isn't until the first family is dissolved that he realizes he can't keep commiting crimes for stupid reasons (that's why he gets along to well with Han, who had a similar revelation in Orange County in Better Luck Tomorrow). So, by fast 4, a fully realized Dominic Toretto is now your kind of reluctant criminal. Dominic cares about the people around him, he's a leader, he's a lover, an archetypical paternal figure to many. He likes to collect souls everywhere he goes, not clinging to people but never letting people go. If you know Dom, you know him, there's no past tense because if you need him he's there. Family man through and through, reformed slut too if you really think about it.

Ayo Rhemia!! I haven’t seen you around a lot, but there’s a big topic I’ve been wanting to ask but haven’t because I thought it was a weird topic to ask about, so just ignore it if it is. Or discord pm about it instead lol

I haven’t read much of team player, but I’ve been interested in the ask blog. What I’m curious about is how you’ve incorporated the themes of politics into the characters and how you’ve gotten the research as a young writer (that sounds… intense… but this is just for my own practise and fun basically.)

I ended up accidentally creating a set of ocs where I realised young adult modern politics is basically the main theme, and seeing in ur work it seems really interesting. But I don’t know much about politics other at all (than seeing tumblr posts, which is uh-not a really credible source of information), and it’s pretty scary to begin research :’)

So I thought I’d ask how you did it! If this is all too much, I’d just be curious how you came up with the idea of team players.

hihi!!! cant say that i've done much deep research SPECIFICALLY for teamplayer (other than re-checking details about luis and lily and their culture cause i dont wanna get it wrong, i keep it in mind whenever i write them) because i'm just naturally a very political person, and the way that the teamplayer characters themselves are built from experience. none of them are intended to be political mouthpieces for me! all of them are hugely on the left but they have varying inner-community opinions, and they're all very... teenaged.

a lot of the experiences of the characters are just mirrors of what i've picked up from being in both the online LGBT community and the one i knew in middle and highschool. it's a bit of a comedic parody of the whole twitter environment in 2020-2021, though the year isn't all that specific!! one of these bitches dsmp fans though lets be honest

i'm sure a lot of the topics i talk about will shift as i grow myself, and as the characters grow, but as they are right now, these are mostly 14-15 year olds only dealing with the effects of large-scale problems like climate change, lgbtphobia and poverty, and they generally respond like 14-15 year olds in those issues. they're not old enough to dig their claws in deep to the root of the problem, but they've got shit to say about it, especially because it directly hurts them. and they'll occasionally argue about it! cora and fate's cartoon argument was very funny (especially because i agree with neither of them)

fate is the biggest projection of me in terms of political opinions, but he's also the projection of the political opinions i had when i was 14, which were naive and well meaning but ultimately harmful and ignorant. i've always been deeply political, and i've just stumbled into my way into a story that tackles a LOT of topics about lgbtphobia.

also i would recommend checking out the comic if you haven't!!! im not super proud of chapter one and will probably redraw it someday but chapter 2 has been very silly so far

I made this blog because despite looking several times, I couldn’t find any narcolepsy focused blogs on tumblr! Maybe I just wasn’t looking in the right places, but I decided to fix that. This blog exists both as a space to educate non-narcoleptics about narcolepsy and as a place for narcoleptics to share their experiences with each other.

I have no dni, anyone is welcome here as long as you are not harming others in any way, take that as you will. I am an adult college student, you can refer to me however you see fit.

Diagnosed with narcolepsy type-2 and chronic fatigue caused by narcolepsy in early 2022. I have several other mental health issues + neurodivergencies + chronic illnesses, since they aren’t super relevant to this blog I will not be listing them here, but don’t be shocked if I mention one of them in a post sometime.

I am not a doctor, all information on this blog are things i have learned from my own experiences, my sleep specialist, speaking to others with narcolepsy, and my own research. While i am not a doctor as of now, i am currently studying to hopefully make researching narcolepsy my career!

With all that said, I certainly don’t know everything about narcolepsy, and I am always 100% open to being educated/corrected on anything by other narcoleptics!! In fact I am encouraging it, More than anything I just really want to learn and help others to learn as well :)

Okay, another community question post, because I’m curious! And this blog is a super amazing place to get answers or opinions on various things. Plus I’ve been meaning to make this blog equal personal and political stuff.

I sent some questions in to some other folks, but I can’t tell if any of them ended up responded to because I was off tumblr for awhile after that. And while I don’t like being perceived, someone’s bound to see it and realize.

But! I’m currently in the process of figuring out how to convert to Judaism - and a good question came up while I’ve been looking through various things, sourced from something I haven’t talked about much here.

See, I’m the host of a DID system; and with other parts and alters also invested in the process, the question immediately came up about how this might be complicated going forwards, and not a lot that we’ve found has been super helpful in how this might effect things or how we could approach it.

In particular, the question of how to go about things if multiple parts are interested in converting. How much has to be gone through by each individual part, how elements of shared consciousness and knowledge + memories (and, inversely, memory barriers) would play into things - and how to tackle things like the fact not all of us are intent on converting and thus not everyone will be following the same things that those intent on converting will, and we don’t know exactly how that’s going to effect things.

This is such a niche thing that we don’t really know where else to go where we currently are in the process of everything, and here feels both safe and comfortable considering everything.

Once again, like another post I posted, any input, from experiences to tips, would be wonderful (from Jewish folk only, please, given the topic.) Any input from Jewish systems specifically would be a blessing, triplely so if you guys converted) - and if you don’t have any direct input then reblogging it for more reach would be amazing.

Hmmm. That is honestly a very hard question. Here's the thing. I was asked this a while back, if we were to be told that one of them has a significant other, would I stop writing smut out of respect for them? Well, I've never written smut anyway LOL but of course I would stop for that idol.

Right now I'm just going to keep doing I'm doing, because my current fic does not involve Tae as a romantically involved character, he's a side character that has a platonic role. Obviously my past few things have been JK-centric, so it doesn't really affect my work atm.

I have actually had two different Tae fics in the works for a while now, ngl I'm not sure what to do with them!

Do you guys have any opinions regarding this? I'd love to know bc I honestly don't know! I feel like my gut reaction is to not post anything with Tae as a romantic partner. Do you guys think that's too much or would you agree? The last thing I'd ever want to do is offend someone.

I apologize if this is already something you’ve discussed here, I’m just a little new to this corner of the fandom and it’s something I’m legitimately curious about. Why do a lot of Dair writers like Alison Humphrey? The way I remember the character was that she abandoned her teenage children to “find herself”, had to be dragged back to Brooklyn by her 14 year old daughter to face them at all, wasn’t very nice or supportive of them while she was there, and then left again to never return. The only time she came up after that was when Jenny was “banished” and decided to go live with her. But for Dan, at least, it always seemed to me like she completely emotionally abandoned him. Dan never referenced talking to her or visiting her that I can recall, and she wasn’t there for his really big moments like graduation or starting college or having a son or even releasing a book, which was his lifelong dream. She didn’t show up for his wedding either, which made me think they were outright estranged. I realize that in real life this might have been because of scheduling conflicts with the actress, but in universe I always felt like Alison did not care about Dan at all, not in any way that really mattered. So that’s all to say, I’m curious what about the character appealed to you, and why you saw their relationship differently? I’ll fully admit I don’t remember everything that happened on the show, so I’m wondering if there are other nuances to the character I might have forgotten or overlooked? (Also sorry this got super long, no pressure to respond immediately! I love your blog and I really am just curious about your thoughts on this!)

hello! first of all, thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to send this ask!

I tried hunting through my blog to find more references to me talking about this, but you know how the tumblr search function is, and I apparently really should start just, you know, tagging character names. I'm a librarian I should be better at the organizational aspects of tumblr...anyways! I found some links to meta/hcs I've written on the subject before if you want to check em out: here, here, and here.

the way my brain works with stories, is that when there's something dissatisfying, or there's a build up or set up to what should be a major plot or major character going forward only for it to just be dropped like a hot potato (something GG does a lot), I can't let it go, and in this fandom where I've taken up fic writing and headcanoning with a vengeance, I have to construct something around it to make it makes sense to me and to make it into something that feels right to the story and characters I'm interpreting and want to tell.

and Alison Humphrey is one of those characters. I'll admit that I am something of an Alison Humphrey Apologist - actually I feel like my opinion is in the minority of this corner of the fandom. idk with any certainty if that's true, but my observation is is that my stance is more lenient on who she is, but that impression was formed in my entrance into this obsession, and the clubhouse has certainly changed since I joined this corner!

so what captured my imagination about Alison is that steep drop off of her character. we obviously know she's significant - she's Jenny and Dan's mother and Rufus' first wife and second love, but after a few episodes in s1, we never see her again, there are gaps, and I want to fill them!

to answer part of your question - dan alludes to visiting his mom on holidays and school breaks a few times - he spends spring break in s1 with her, xmas in s3, and in the summer between s1 & 2 she moves in to the loft to look after Dan and Jenny while Rufus goes on tour. so...there's not a lot, but there's some stuff there

and what's also so compelling is that in that handful of episodes, we get just enough to build an impression of the kind of wife and mother Alison was before she left, and some key lines that I cannot ever stop thinking about. The first that springs to mind is her and Jenny during the cotillion episode. Jen ditches her mom's art show to go, and Alison holds her accountable after with the line: As you grow older, every choice that you make defines who you're gonna turn into. So rather than apologizing to me, you need to look at yourself and ask if you like the person you're becoming. it's very introspective and astute advice, imo. and then, dialing back an episode or two to when she comes back, Dan holds her to task for leaving, and tellingly only mentions how much Jenny and Rufus need Alison, but not him, which breaks my heart on multiple levels, and she's properly chastened for it, and keeps working after that confrontation to make amends. and all this has me infer that Alison was a very good parent, right up until she wasn't.

and the part that makes me crazaayyyy is a few scenes later in that Alison Returns episode, during the conversation she has with Rufus when they finally have a chance to candidly talk, she admits fault and cops to making mistakes, but she tells him that towards the beginning of their marriage when he was still all about his music, she supported him, and put her art to the side to support him and to take care of their growing family. "My entire adult life has been about you," she says.

and that line just...Hits for me, because it touches on this thing that can happen to women within their marriages and relationships -- especially in Alison's generation, I think generations after it's been happening less and less -- but when they had kids and got married and moved into this loft in Brooklyn, Alison was the one who virtually gave up her art for years, she gave herself and her identity over to being a wife and mom, and then after 16 years, she looked up and realized that she didn't know who she was anymore, because her identity and sense of self was so reliant on taking care of other people. and she freaked out, and self-sabotaged. And maybe the timing isn't so random, at 16 & 14, Dan and Jenny are becoming their own people, with more and more independence, and she thinks that -- while Dan insists rightfully that they still need her -- she feels less needed by them, and her days for the first time in almost two decades are blank slates, and when was even the last time she picked up a brush? she can't remember.

And, I gotta point out that Alison & Rufus & Lily were all such YOUNG parents, like early early 20s kind of parents. so that time when you're supposed to be figuring yourself out, who you are and who you want to be, she already had a husband and a baby to take care of. like, I'm in the back half of my 20s and cannot even imagine that kind of commitment and pressure.

So, while I don't agree with her methods of coping with this identity crisis, I can understand why it happened. and so I tend to err on giving her more grace. And, idk, I just...don't like that someone who should be so significant is shunted to the side...it kind of makes me think of that Gilmore Girls meta that's floating around right now, op very cleverly and artfully writes about Christopher's character, and instead of him serving the narrative as Rory's dad, he's primarily always functioning as Lorelai's love interest, and that's kind of how this other GG treated Alison. she was the wedge between Rufus and Lily getting back together, a complication to their romance, and her narrative function as the mom of two of the main characters was treated as secondary to that.

I don't know that I would equate Alison to Christopher, but then again, I am a self-described Alison Apologist, but for me, I like to envision a world where Alison keeps working to make right with Dan, because I just...don't accept that she wouldn't be there for him, whether or not he'd let her be. so...she always creeps into my fics because I just - want to fix it! and I can see multiple avenues for her and Dan to repair their relationship...which is why in my aus, she gives Dan a place to be outside of NYC, and he appreciates having that place to retreat to.

as much as im annoyed by the potential implications of the mhj/hybe drama i do feel like theres way too much speculation rn ... rlly doesn't sit so well with me that everyone is bashing on mhj alone (im not supporting her either though) and not bang sihyuk too. some hybe stans rlly js worship the guy and idk why . its not like he's innocent too. like those texts from him are so annoying too. abt if she's satisfied that nwjns is so popular and also abt trying to rival aespa / bp alone ...

hybe has sm power and r known for their mediaplay so i rlly do wish people would keep that in mind instead of doing their own speculation to bash on mhj . we don't know fs if she's the reason behind seunghan, youngseo, etc .... it seems so forced that everyone just collectively is making stuff up on their own theories and pissing on her. like im all for it when everything's done with but it's giving misogyny to me ughhh idk how to explain it eitherr without sounding like a mhj stan I PROMISE IM NOT TAKING HER SIDE T_T i just cant help but feel like poeple find it easier to hate and bash on women sometimes. even me scrolling x nowadays feels so annoying. literally feel so bad for illit and nwjns rn.

personally i was a teeny annoyed that illit had a similar image to nwjns w their nostalgia/coquettecore (also though just seems like cute/youthful concept is making a cb in general in kpop) but only because their songs on super real me were the exact type of songs i liked most from nwjns (super shy, hurt etc. the softer less peppy songs compared to hybe boy) so it bothered me that there was an implication that nwjns might be forced to distance itself to a more differing concept to keep some contrast btwn the two ... but ik that's not illit's fault at all (literally love the girls sm im a runext fan ^^) i feel like i can understand the upset that illit was getting a similar concept when every other grp before illit in hybe had more defined concepts seperating each other. but once again that's all hybe's doing ...... seeing the choreographers supporting mhj too makes it seem like not even the nwjns team or even all the staff were on board with the references in the choreo either...

anyways i do hope this controversy doesnt impede on either grps promos :( and i rlly hope everything gets sorted out... im srsly hoping this doesnt turn into a 5050 situtation again but with nwjns i was so upset when that happened . was curious on what your thoughts were or if u were keeping up with everything?

I feel like you’re right in some cases, like with the hybe groups being forced to suffer the consequences of bang sihyuk and mhj, especially newjeans who were doing good keeping quiet and getting ready for their comeback.

In my opinion, it’s not that bang sihyuk wasn’t bad either, it’s just that mhj also leaked a bunch of health info and other info behind other artists, gave them their numbers, family contacts, etc.

It’s more of a case that, MHJ did something extreme, I’m more worried about the hybe groups more than the companies because let’s be honest, it’s always going to be corrupt and drama will be inevitable.

She willingly put the well-being and personal information of idols to sell to other profits and for what? If I’m being honest misogyny doesn’t really play much. MHJ has just done too much, not to bang sihyuk but to the groups in general.

even if it was speculation, they were big assumptions to begin with, especially pertaining to the hate trains and whatnot to other groups. To make accusations that big, doesn’t come from speculation.

It makes me feel weird knowing mhj uses nwjeans as a shield and to bring in illit when all they’ve done was debut.

Bang sihyuk has probably done some things (im not well sure because I don’t keep up with the drama besides this, I can’t really ignore this because it’s everywhere, even on tumblr.)

I understand that the concept with illit and newjeans are basically the spark to the dynamite, and honestly I would’ve understood mhj’s side, if not for all of the big accusations that just doesn’t sprout from nowhere.

But in all honesty, nonnie? I’d rather focus on the idols, newjeans will be controversial because of this no matter what, and illit will probably get hate for “copying” newjeans. I think they deserve our support rather than watching their companies wondering what’ll happen like a hawk.

I’d rather as fans, support our groups because they are caught up in all of that drama, I believe that it’s just easier this way rather than getting caught up and wondering who’s side people are on, because for me, I’m on the side of idols, who’ll probably be affected by the media and drama there.
