this post has been bouncing around my head for a while i think. so like feel free to ignore me but. fuck. skincare culture fucking disgusts me. rambling vent below the break.
this is coming from probably the silliest skincare boy you will ever know. ive been in to this shit since middle school and to be perfectly frank i have no intentions of stopping now but like. shit man. i am genuinely nauseated by the amount of brainspace and energy i have dedicated to this shit. i am nauseated by the hyperconsumption and products and how readily i let this messaging get shoved down my fucking throat and imprinted on my brain. i think about it constantly. the past several days with no fucking exaggeration i have thought about sunscreen alone more than anything else. more than food, more than my upcoming top surgery, more than enjoying my time abroad, more than the anarchist literature im trying to read (believe me yes, i do see the fucking irony in calling myself an anarchist whilst willingly sucking down rancid capitalist propaganda that only teaches me that my body’s largest organ is unacceptable as is). it makes me want to fucking cry when i consider how much time, how much goddamn life, i have put into combing through product reviews and digital magazines and ingredient lists and the virtual shelves of sephora and ulta and sokoglam and ohlolly and target and and and FUCK. the money i have splashed out on products that dont work, hell, on products that DO work. makeup is one thing. i dont feel ‘better’ or more like myself with makeup on, not anymore. its just fun little trimmings and an aesthetic choice i make sometimes. and i fuss with my hair like once a week, on wash day. but skincare. fucking SKINCARE. not to be dramatic but my soul feels fucking contaminated by this bullshit. maybe the worst part is that i thoroughly enjoy every fucking second of it. the day i willingly chose to skip my serums or toners or essences or lotions or WHATEVER, not out of chronic illness-related fatigue but by CHOICE?? the day i chose to leave the house without a lick of sunscreen, without having even rinsed my face? that will be the day i have won. but i really cant fathom that happening. because goddamnit its soothing. because it makes me feel good and happy and like ME. like its a part of my fucking identity or something. and that is sickening. utterly disgusting. and its not totally on me that i drank the fucking coolaid but i have to take SOME responsibility for my wellbeing, right? like this is actively harming me mentally. theres no way in hell that it isnt. it doesnt fucking matter that it feels joyful cuz its fucking. poison. and i hate to use this term but there is no alternative that really does it justice. its brainrot. pure and fucking simple. like at what point do i need professional help with this shit. cuz i know i NEED to give this up. i NEED to radically and fundamentally change the way i see/experience/think about/understand/whatever my skin. like there is no question about it anymore. but even THINKING about that makes me feel deeply and horrifically panicky. but i am hopeful because this nausea is new. i think this is the first step in reconfiguring my mindset. but shit man this is gonna be rough. and thats what i think about that. : \

despite my complaints sokoglam has the best rewards system of any beauty site I’ve ever used with a phenomenal purchase:rewards ratio that actually saves you something when you use your points and the rewards and tiers are actually worth it.

Hey I was wondering what you know about the brand SokoGlam? Have you tried them and how you feel about them?? I’ve used their sunscreen and moisturizer (and some samples they sent with it), I liked them but they’re very pricey and I was just wondering if you or anyone else thinks they’re worth the price.
i haven’t ordered from sokoglam before; i know of their philosophy as i’ve read the founder’s skincare book (i talk about that here), but since it seems to be a US-based thing it never seemed worthwhile for me (i live in europe, customs can get steep). as far as i know, charlotte cho’s own brand then i met you is also available on their website, but i wasn’t aware of sokoglam itself being a skincare brand, i thought it was a reseller/online shop type thing. please correct me with product names / links if i’m wrong! so i’m unsure on which products exactly you mean.
however, and in any case with any brand, if your skin likes it and you enjoy the experience of using it and you can afford it, then it’s worth it. if any of these three things is amiss, you can certainly find something better suited for you, the world of cosmetics is unfathomably large in terms of options nowadays, including good quality very affordable ones; you just gotta figure out what’s not working for you and what you’re looking for instead.

Mini Korean Skincare haul
I'm back with another haul! I ordered a couple things from sokoglam once again.
* Clean it Zero Nourishing Cleansing Balm for dry skin
This is the new version of their cleansing balm, I've ordered the old version a few times in the past. So we'll see if I like it still.
* Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Mask
Got this to see if it hydrates my skin well and helps keep my skintone even, it's also fragrance free so thats another reason why I got it.
* Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream.
Got this bc it's fragrance free and I wanted a rich moisturizer.

NEOGEN: Green Tea Cleansing Foam
Tumblr media
Salutations beautiful people!
Gonna be getting into this lovely product by NEOGEN, how it’s working for me and what two other people had to say after using it. Let’s get started!
This cleanser’s top ingredient is fermented green tea extract and can brighten, calm, and hydrate your skin. The foam cleanser works to remove impurities like sweat and dirt effectively without stripping your skin of its natural oils.
It’s Notable Ingredients Are:
Green Tea Leaf Extract
Reduce acne, treat rosacea, prevent premature aging, shield against harmful UV rays, even out skin tone, fights against excess oil production and combat undereye circles.
While drinking green tea soothes the stomach, using green tea as a part of your skin care routine can soothe and calm inflammation with its key factoring ingredient, Polyphenols a molecule found in green tea which promotes healing, and fights against certain types of bacteria. The caffeine found in green tea can aid in tightening the skin, and since Polyphenols helps fight free radicals, which weaken the skin's elasticity. Spf is also important for your skin, while green tea won't be able to replace your daily sunscreen, studies have shown that applying green tea can help protect the skin from harmful UV rays. Green tea probably won’t magically photoshop away your scars or hyperpigmentation, but it can help to minimize and even out inconsistencies in your skin tone and help clear it up. While most acne products tend to suckup our natural oils, green tea stops the production of excess oils by reducing the production of sebum, while leaving our natural healthy oil production intact.
Moringa Seed Extract
A flower native to parts of Africa and Asia. Packed with 90 nutrients including 46 antioxidants and an abundant amount of minerals. Moringa minimizes breakouts, wrinkles and helps guard against pollution. Full of vitamin A; which is what retinol is derived from. Moringa is also full of vitamin E, which is great for dry, flaky skin as well as other environmental stressors. Moringa is packed and rich in nutrients, such as; calcium, vitamin A, B, C, D and E. Minerals like copper, iron, zinc, magnesium, silica, and manganese.
Papaya Fruit Water
Papaya Fruit Extract has skin whitening abilities due to the exfoliating and skin lightening effect of the enzyme papain. Papain enzyme restores the uneven-tone of your skin by accelerating the shedding of dead cells. It’s also good for repairing aged skin but helping reverse the aging of the skin by repairing, exfoliating and hydrating. Papain enzyme is seen to reduce wrinkles by modulating the collagen and elastic fibers. It’s also a good source of moisture and vitamin A.
Orange Fruit Extract
Jam-packed with a multitude of anti-aging ingredients, most importantly being vitamin E. Orange extract has a gentle astringent property that helps to relieve ance-prone skin, helping to reduce sebum, blemishes, dark or age spots. Any discoloration is helped by orange as it has a mild bleaching property. Orange peels contain a high amount of citric acid, makes for a good aid in skin brightening.
Texture
The consistency and texture of this water-based foam cleanser are simple and fluffy as it should be for a foaming cleanser. In the bottle, it simply looks like water and green tea leaves, but once it’s pumped, comes out as a nice fully cloud of purifying brilliance.
I absolutely love the scent of this cleanser, with hints of citrus and that wonderful clean smell of green tea, makes for a relaxing cleansing experience.
Pricing & Purchasing
Prices differ depending on where you shop... but here are some good places to purchase and a few easy places to access
SokoGlam $19
For those who often read my posts, you should know by now how often I use this site to purchase my Asian skin care.
Sephora $19
This is sold at Sephora as a partnership with SokoGlam, so the price is the same.
Amazon  $20
The price on Amazon is surprisingly a dollar more than the two sites mentioned above.
Douglas
Douglas is a website/store with more than 2,400 locations across Europe. So, if you’re concerned about whether a site will ship to Europe, it’s a nice option to have.
