To Become a Pack: Bull

“You should eat” the Hatake said, because he hadn’t given up his food for nothing.

The dog didn’t move, so he sighed and stepped back to the tree line. He supposed he couldn’t blame him. That animal had probably not known any other life that one in which he had to fight for his life every day and then go back to his cave. He was most likely waiting for his owners to appear and take him again, hidden in his self-imposed prison and unable to leave it even for eating. It was sad, and for a moment Kakashi even contemplated if it would be better to kill him and end his suffering.

First of all, please keep in mind that this chapter has mentions of animal abuse (though not descriptions of it), so if you're sensitive about it be careful!

I love all Kakashi's ninken, but to write Bull's story was rather easy for me, as his breed and aspect gave me the perfect opportunity to represent animal abuse through fighting. Also, the fact that he doesn't speak was great to introduce the possibility of mixes between ninken and common dogs :)

I think it is established in the fandom that Kakashi is passionate about his ninken and would do anything for them. Thus, by giving them different backgrounds I was able to (hopefully) explain a little bit better how that bond got to be so deep.

Now, on a more personal note, I would like to present you: Yumi, my last adoption and who was part of my inspiration for Bull's story.

Thankfully, Yumi doesn't come from a fighting ring, but due to his looks and mixed breed (part American Standford), he's considered a "Potentially dangerous dog" here in Spain. That means I need a special permission to have him, and he has to wear a muzzle when he's out of my house.

His story isn't very nice, either, as he was found roaming around a village when he was 1 year old. After that, he spent almost 6 more years in a shelter, being completely ignored due to his breed and the fact that he's black (yes, people are racist with animals too, this is a fact).

Now, he lives in a warm house and receives all the love he deserves every day. My sister and I are extremely thankful to have him, as he's a wonderful companion and makes us laugh a lot. Next month he'll have been in our family for 6 months!

So, if you want to say hello or send your love to him, I'm sure Yumi will appreciate it!

Hunting with hounds was banned in 2004, but people continue to hunt wild animals just for the thrill of it. There is still no respite for the foxes, deer, and other mammals chased and killed.

In 2004 the passing of the Hunting Act made fox hunting illegal. Since then hunts have claimed to be following artificial scent trails rather than deliberately hunting wild mammals. This is nothing but a lie.

Trail hunting is a smokescreen used as a means to continue to illegally hunt wild foxes. Indeed, in November 2020 hunting official Mark Hankinson along with other senior hunters spoke of this ‘smokescreen’ during a Hunting Office webinar which was leaked to the public. You can read more about these now infamous webinars at the bottom of this page.

In 2022 Protect the Wild released the ‘A Trail of Lies’ animation to expose this smokescreen once and for all. Narrated by Chris Packham, the film documents key moments in the campaign to end fox hunting for good.

However, don’t just take our word for it.

In 2021/22 we supported the Hunt Investigation Team in two ground-breaking exposés in which both the Beaufort Hunt and VWH Hunt proved beyond any doubt that ‘trail hunting’ is nothing but a lie.

The footage secured from the investigation is the first time that a hunt has ever been caught on camera shooting their hounds, but this is not to say that the incident is a one off.

It is yet further proof of the ‘trail hunt’ lies. If hunts were genuinely following trails there would be no need for them to kill young hounds in this manner.

Please, please help stop this cruelty xx

This half filled and disgustingly dirty aquarium was left by the dumpster in the sun, I noticed it had fish still swimming around in it. Needless to say, I now have an aquarium and fish. Don't worry, the pleco is going to get a massive upgrade soon, I just wanted to keep them alive until we get paid again and can do more. WTF people, these are living beings, treat them as such!

In almost all cases, raising awareness doesn’t work. But when it comes to this I want people to speak up and listen, I want everyone to post something about it, here or another platform. I want more mainstream YouTubers to cover this. I want this everywhere.

Bird breeding is out of control, with alot of people doing it as a hobby or as a sketchy way to make money, it’s bad and wrong and causes a lot of problems. But let’s get to the main issue I want people to raise awareness of; BIRDS ARE NOT TOYS, THEY ARE NOT ACCESSORIES, NOT DECORATIONS, NOT PETS.

they should be treated like you would a human child, you cannot keep buying birds, avoiding research and then rehoming them.

do you know how many birds are abandoned each year? How many are rehomed? Do you know how many birds suffer? These intelligent, human-level sentient beings trapped in tiny cages all day?

Stop the abuse, birds are tiny people, not pets. They don’t just sit around like dogs or cats. Stop abusing birds, this happens constantly so rampant in fact that it’s normal to just.. let a bird die instead of taking it to a vet because it’s seen as too fragile that they just die anyway.

these birds can live up to 80 years in some cases, yet they barely make 1 - 2 with these conditions.

I don’t care if people are here for my undertale content. I’m so sick of this.

I want to call this the Kiwi movement, after my first conure kiwi, who suffered a tragic death due to mishandling and uneducation combined with a family impulse purchase. (I was too young to know how to care and my parents didn’t know.)

It took them about fifteen minutes to find what had caught his attention, his eyes widening at the image even from far away. There, hanging from a tree, a slender figure trembled under the rain.

The whines became weaker as he approximated and fury ran through Kakashi’s body. He cut the wire with a simple movement of his tanto and caught the body that fell as a consequence. The dog was crying softly after being hanged from his neck for who knew how long, blood running down his body.

“It’s ok” he said, softly passing a hand over his fur. “We’re going to help you, hold still.”

As you may have noticed already, this is a hard chapter with description of animal abuse, so mind the warnings at the initial notes before reading.

I wanted to give some sense to the bandages around Uhei's neck (more than the character from Naruto he represents), so I decided to take a page from my experience with abused dogs.

I know it may be difficult to read about this, but I promise you it has a happy ending and after being rescued by Kakashi, he gave Uhei all the love he needed and more.

hi girlies! just wanted to share my hyperfixation of the week: giraffes

the other day i remembered giraffes actually exist and i love them so much!! they’re so cute and look so calm i love to admire them with their big eyes with long lashes

i also found out that there exist a rare spotless giraffe in Tennessee and three rare white/albino giraffes only in Kenya and Tanzania, as you can see in the pictures. Sadly, the two kenyan white giraffes got killed by furtive hunters/poachers so there’s only one known white giraffe left in the world nowadays

IF YOU DO ONE THING IN THE NEW YEAR

This year has been lively, with many campaigns kicking hard worldwide and a hunger for change. The resurgence of a strong front against vivisection and fur is a refreshing and welcomed shift which reminds us that target-specific campaigns have historically proven to bring change much faster than the simple advocacy against speciesism or for veganism, but it also reminds us that pressure campaigns bring heavier blows from the state.

It is not difficult to be beaten by the state. They not only use violence and brutality, but they are skilled at mental warfare. The struggles of allowing new people into your circle, the fear of not knowing how far they will go to destroy us and the constant battle between fighting and retreating take a toll on everybody’s mind.

If you do one thing in the new year, you should check on your comrades to ensure they are doing ok. We constantly feed our brains with the need for secrecy and keep our cards close to our chests. We encrypt our messages, only telling those who need to know where we are going tonight, we plan our actions in silence, we burn letters we receive through punk mail, and we trust no one but those close to us. It is easy to forget that you can share your feelings with your comrades. Make sure you remind them.

If you do one thing in the new year, build safe spaces where people can recover when they experience burnout. Make sure that after fighting for months on a tree sit or after nights of rain, mud and ammonia smell from a chicken farm, people have a warm and welcoming place to recover. Take care of your comrades, make them feel safe, and ensure you tell them you love them. The resistance will grow stronger than we can ever imagine.

Stick together, fight stronger and check on your comrades until we win.
