HOW YOU CAN STRIKE FOR PALESTINE
Jan 21-28
Please prep for and do as many as you can for as many days as possible.
SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.
Reschedule your appointments.
No eating out.
Email your reps, tell them you’re striking for Palestine.
Dont Don’t do any banking.
No shopping! Get essentials like groceries, gas, and medicine ASAP.
Don’t use social media for anything other than Palestine.
Stay home as much as possible.
If able, call out from school/work! Sick days, off time, delay shifts. If you have to work, wear something to show your support for Palestine + call your reps during your break + talk to someone able Palestine.
I didn't know there was a strike week. I'll be participating & won't be posting my requests until the 30th / after the 30th. My requests will, however, still be open.
I completely agree with the strike and will be trying to participate as much as I am able to, but I would really like to let you all know that for a lot of people, these things are not feasible.
If my parents were to not work for the amount of time allotted by the strike, we would not be able to eat for a while. Some people would get evicted.
If I were to not go to school for as long as it says, I would automatically fail school. Full stop. I'd have to repeat the entire year. A lot of things just aren't very feasible.
I will still be participating to the best of my abilities, but please don't demonize people who you see who are working or going to school, because I know people are going to.
It takes nothing to stop posting about your interests for a week
Just seven days
Innocent Palestinians are dying every day. It is the very least we can do to take seven days out of our plush comfortable lives and spread awareness for them, uplift their voices and experiences, donate funds to humanitarian aid, individual fundraisers for evacuation, or esims. Boycott brands that support isr@3l, get in touch with your government's and demand a ceasefire (be polite about it tho).
But the very fucking least you can do is stop posting about fandoms or personal things this week. The ICJ and governments have failed Palestine, the internet is their best hope right now, keeping people aware of the atrocities being committed against them every single day, spreading resources to aid them ... And every voice matters.
So use it
Use your voice
Speak up, be loud. Silence is what allows this to go on, it's what allows genocides to annihilate entire civilizations without hindrance.
for strike week... if you can. get yourselves high quality masks / respirators. this is a thread of trusted sales for the month of Feb. things aren't getting better and long covid is immediately devastating. take care, dont let this once in a century viral pandemic continue mutating please.
