The lack of a headphone jack on so many recent devices makes me so fucking mad . I was gonna say "unreasonably" mad but I won't because I'm RIGHT . Like from a practicality standpoint there is absolutely NO FUCKING REASON to remove it ... you just took away a hole that had 0 impact on customers that prefer bluetooth . there is nothing stopping a person that wants to use bluetooth headphones from using bluetooth headphones as long as the phone supports it . like what are we fucking doing . if it's not broken don't fucking fix it ??? THERE'S NOT EVEN A "FIX" . there's no new & better way of using wired headphones that you can replace the old way with . "just get bluetooth headphones" charging them is annoying they get lost easily some of them have significant delay when it comes to game audio like they're just super fucking annoying in general . "just get an adapter" I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO !!!!!!!!!!!

batfam and phones:
dick- iphone user and annoying about it. literally the worst omg. speaker phone all the time good luck calling him to have a private conversation because it's gonna be all over town by the end of the day, possibly even the next city over depending on where he is. and he always wants to face time! you text him to ask a simple yes/no question and all you get back is 'ft me' like come onnnnnn bro 😩.
jason- based android user 🤪💖. does NOT vibe with how far phones have come since he died. no he does not wanna talk to the robot phone lady NO he is not giving the phone his fingerprint or letting it scan his face you are crazy you are weird what is wrong with you. he sucks so bad at facetime too he just doesn't get it. he also thinks airpods are stupid <3
tim- the kind of iphone user that should really get an android. refuses to put a case on his phone because he's a menace to society and his own wallet. it's actually so tragic because if anyone could get the most out of those fancy iphone camera features it would be tim but nooooooooo he dropped his phone from the top of the dinosaur in the batcave last week and now the only thing he can do on it is tell siri to call people 😒.
steph- iphone user but hot? idk. shes on her third pair of airpods this month but she would rather die than buy a wire headphone adapter. her phone is always goingoff because she's in every groupchat ever and she sets so many alarms but forgets why she set them in the first place. uses air drop for nefarious purposes (a rare win for jason nation on the phone front 🥳).
ex: (most embarrassing highlight reel of all time. if you didn't think she saw you you're wrong because she did 💖)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
duke- iphone user because bruce bought him his phone. he didn't wanna be rude! if he wasn't so worried about hurting bruce's feelings he'd switch to android so fast. will leave you on read intentionally as well as unintentionally it's his fatal flaw 💔. he's just not a big texter! he thinks about how to respond and then forgets to actually type it out and send it. you'd have better luck in a group chat rather than messaging him directly. his ringtone is probably some naruto op lol.
cass- also subjected to iphone because bruce bought her phone but she doesn't really care because she prefers being face to face anyway. do not call her she hates talking on the phone and she will not answer. she'll watch the phone ring and then text you after to get her point across. uses airdrop for good (jason nation loses once again 😔).
ex:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
bruce- iphone user but doesn't care about the whole debate. most of his kids have iphones so he has one to make getting in touch with them easier (sorry jason lol 🤭). sets his phone up on a stand so whenever you ft him he looks like he's in a zoom meeting. responses to texts are either entire essays or a simple 'k'. there is no in between.
damian- another bruce appointed iphone user who could not care less. also absolutely terrible at facetime. him and jason get it from talia 💖. tbh the only things he uses his phone for are, setting alarms, googling things for homework assignments and drawing references, and the cheese viking mobile game.

So im still using my iphone 6s, which i got in early 2017, and why, you may ask, am i still using a 7 year old phone? I have 2 reasons for this, 1) i refuse to have a phone without a headphone jack, i will not suffer the indignity of it, and 2) i don't want to deal with learning a new operating system, because stupid apple doesn't sell phones with headphone jacks anymore i will need to get a phone that uses a different operating system
I have many reasons for wanting a headphone jack, i don't want to have to worry about charging my headphones, i have adhd i don't need to add more things to the list of things i need to do but won't remember, i like having the cord and its more convenient to just plug it in to use the headphones than to have to go into settings and bluetooth and all that, and sure in iphones without the jack you can plug it in to the charger part but what if i want to charge my phone and use my headphones at the same time, and like i know there are adapters out there that can make that possible but again i have adhd i will not be able to keep track of it.
So my next phone can't be an iphone, which tbh is good because apple is shit, but the issue with that is that any other phone i get will be using a different operating system, so i'll have to learn and get used to a new operating system, and i don't do well with change, so im going to use this old phone until it ceases to function

Okay so game plan for today (my day off whoop whoop) run a load of laundry (work clothes need to be cleaned!) then if I feel like going out today I’ll go to Walmart and buy a couple more shirts for work and maybe go to five below and get another stupid fucking headphone adapter bc iPhones are stupid and decided no one uses wired headphones anymore when it’s all I want to fucking do !!!! Anyways. Yeah. Laundry. Walmart. Maybe five below. Hang out with funk (he needs extra love I gotta clean his cage today and take him out of his cage and just let him chill on my shoulder he’s so cute okay yes laundry Walmart probably end up not going to five below bc getting in and out of the car a lot is annoying and I’m lazy. Maybe I’ll also get a slushee on my journey out into the world. I think I’m gonna put socks and a shirt on (I’m wearing just shorts and hoodie rn lmao socks and a shirt is such a weird combo of clothes to put on) and go to Walmart sooner rather than later so I don’t have to deal with it and I can come home and get high as hell :))

I dunno if you got anon complaints, but it wasn't me. Here's my wall of text about The Topic At Hand.
I hate Apple because every time I wanted to use my phone to do something in high school, I found out that sorry, you can't do that on an iPhone because we don't like [winzip, flash player, a bunch of other things] and you're not allowed to use programs that don't come from the App Store. Also if you jailbreak your phone so that you CAN use it as a miniature computer, you void your warranty uwu. Also, I had an iPod touch gen 3 that I still use despite it being a bit slow because they absolutely lasted forever. I also got an iPod touch 6 that died a long time ago, but before it did, the iPod/Phone 7 had been released and Apple had figured out that if they push an update that makes the old tech slow, people will go "ugh, this is so slow, I should get a new one".
When they released the iPad with the same issues as the early gen phones + also no USB port and I was like "why are people buying this instead of literally any other tablet?" but people acted like it was a new, innovative, never-before-seen amazing thing when the first iPad really was just a shit tablet you couldn't do much with, but it had an apple logo and angry birds.
We also had both Windows and Macintosh computers at my high school and I never had problems with Windows because it was what I knew, but any time I tried to use the macs, I'd run into all sorts of compatibility issues with files saved on the Windows computers, so I just used my laptop instead. I was also getting into computer nerdery and looking to build my own PC and found out that Macintosh computers come pre-built and if you change literally anything yourself you void your warranty, which pushed me even harder against the company and all of its products. Oh, and the fact that a global standardisation went through that every phone company would use micro USB and Apple weaselled out of it by saying "ah, but we don't sell phones, we sell Personal Mobile Devices." And that they hold patents for things like the liquid metal they use to paint on the logo and even the patent for ROUND PIZZA BOXES and refuse to let anyone else use them just. Because. What a shit company. Anyway.
Nowadays I understand that some people prefer to use Macs for things like graphic design because they're allegedly better at it??? but all I see is compatibility issues for days, overpriced tech that you're not allowed to breathe on without voiding your warranty, and people who fangirl over the company's products because they're 'hip' and for no other reason. Their old products WERE good, which is why old Macs and iPods still sell for a TON of money, but I haven't seen them release a good product in a long-ass time.
Hey that's totally fine.
For the record, in my mind, the part of Apple that makes iphones and ipads is a totally separate entity than the one that makes their computers. You'll get no argument from me about their stupid power adapter debacle.
I've had macbooks for years as my daily-driver computers, but I own literally one iOS product, and that's an old ipad mini wall-mounted in my kitchen for home automation purposes. iOS devices are annoying in my experience, and as such I've only ever had Android mobile devices for daily use.
... and don't get me started on what a shitty-ass product the Apple TV is.
I understand the compatibility and customization argument in precisely the way I understand the cats vs. dogs argument.
If you were raised with dogs and have never been around cats or only tangentially experienced cats, you might point at a cat and go "what is this animal even good for? It doesn't come when I call it. It doesn't respond to its name. You have to scoop out a gross litter box at least twice a week. It doesn't even chase a ball half the time!"
All of which would be correct observations about owning a cat, but if you were to pivot from that to say something like "cats are useless and expensive, and everyone who has one has been tricked by clever marketing and branding to get one" you'd get people looking at you a little funny. We intuitively understand that cats and dogs are fundamentally different pets to experience.
In the same way, if you're a PC user who points at a Mac and says things like you have above, like "You can't even change any components yourself! You can barely play any games with it!" you're making the cardinal mistake of bringing Windows expectations into a Mac world, just as you'd be bringing Dog expectations into a Cat world for being indignant that you can't play fetch with it.
.. by your own admission here, "I never had problems with Windows because it was what I knew"
There is a LOT of crossover between the platforms for day to day tasks (web-browsing, word-processing, using shit like Office 365, doing live-streams, Telegram/Discord, etc. etc.) just as there is a lot of crossover between activities that cats and dogs can do (companionship, snuggling, entertainment, taking cute pictures to send to your mom) but the niche stuff is where things branch off.
I have a purpose-built Windows PC for music production and audio engineering because I needed to configure a custom sound interface and Windows PC's are excellently tailored to customization. Conversely, I use my Macbook for video-editing because MacOS is extremely stable and I can count on one hand how many times it's actually crashed or hung in all the years I've video-edited on it, even though I occasionally have to use a dongle, and can't crack it open myself to put more RAM in it.
In the case of the latter I consider that a worthy trade-off, just as I will gladly trade-off having a pet that won't play fetch with me in exchange for not having to let it outside when the windchill is -20 in the middle of February.
As an aside, also, the MacOS terminal behaves nearly the same way as a Linux terminal, so there are all kinds of hardcore Linux computer geeks who use Macs because the logic underneath the OS is the same. Just this past weekend I used the terminal to disable a couple of annoying security bits so I could install homebrew, WINE and a few other pieces - all called up and installed automatically using nothing more sophisticated than an oldschool text terminal, just like a Unix or Linux machine. Then I used the automator to create a custom executed batch file so I wouldn't have to re-enter terminal commands every time I wanted to call up a specific procedure.
It's why I stopped listening to people who simultaneously complain about MacOS being "too dumbed down" and "too hard to use" in the same breath; it can be just as complex and nerdy as you want it to be, and it can be just as streamlined as anything else if you really want it to be. Sitting on top of "fancy Unix" also means it's crazy stable.
... so for me at least, it has nothing to do with being "hip" - I have a hardcover case on my macbook so you can't even tell what it is anyway unless I open it up - and everything to do with being a good old-fashioned pragmatist.

so stupid when it's like a nasty old man that is being accused of sexual harassment and then the defence is well he comes from a different time when people wouldn't push back against that so he hasn't learned to adapt, so like you're saying this person can learn how to use new tech, can learn any new developments in their field, can learn how to adapt to this world that is massively changed in so many aspects, but they can't learn how to talk to people like a normal person?????? the bare minimum???? this guy probably has an iphone which is something that ppl BARELY conceptualized the existence of in like the 80s but he doesn't know how to be polite, professional, and courteous ? hm

I'm in a bad place. I woke up after 4 hours of sleep. My cat was trying to comfort me. My heart was pounding, my mind was racing. My optimism, my hope, my will was crumbling. I was frantic and scared and crying.
The leaves are already falling and I don't have a place lined up to move to. My roof is literally collapsing, it's irreparable and I've been living with it for over 2 years, I can't do another winter freaking out about my roof collapsing again. I don't even know the area I'm going to move to. And there are really no rentals available anyway. I look at the work that I make, that I committed myself fully to doing this summer. I see things that no one wants. That my closest supporters look at and say "oh cool" in passing, then pick up their phone and look at what they really want to see, made by someone else. I've been steadily losing confidence in my ability to make this art/music/poetry/streaming hybrid career ever turn into anything. I defend it a lot in my journals here, but I'm really starting to realize that I'm the only one defending it. All of those in supporting roles have encouraged me to do something else.
I'm at the stage again where I'm pretty much ready to give up. I tried. I feel like I could give it years more, but the price I've been paying to do so is just... unimaginable. A 9 and a half hour conflict today, entirely focused on how fucked up my life is. To put that in context, that's almost an entire iPhone battery charge worth of phone call. With my Mom of course, who lives 5 minutes away.
I'm just starting to look around and see that I don't really have anything left. I have possessions that I don't really use, maybe I can sell those to make the move easier, god knows I'll be doing it alone. I have my cat, I love her with all my heart, even if she bites me because we don't play enough. I have my will to persevere, which unfortunately has been crumbling, but it's still there somehow. That's about it, honestly.
My stupid medical shit, failed "live-in" (aka one-foot-out-the-door renting an apartment while living with me and running off to it every week) relationship, and being reassured that I will be supported in pursuing my creative career has left my resume entirely empty for many years. I'm deeply afraid that once I finally give up, I won't be able to get a "real job". I'm not even sure if I'll be able to rent an apartment, I don't have proof of income. I really hope so.
I have been in similar situations back in college, like waaaaaay back. It was so much easier to take gigantic swan-dives into new life situations when I hadn't adapted to certain ways of living, and when the darkness of the world was much more... cartoonish and less real. I'm very afraid. I'm afraid of being alone in a city. I'm afraid of ending up in a shitty living situation and having no plan B. But that's my situation. That's just what it is. And me sitting here and trembling like a leaf isn't going to change it.
This sucks. Like... it's just bleak. I haven't felt this hopeless in a very long time. I feel like the best I can hope for is getting some job at like a gaming shop or a skate shop or something and just try to keep a roof over my head. And I guess that isn't the end of the world. The vision that I had just a few weeks ago, that mental picture of me making art on commission, streaming, writing, playing gigs, all that. It feels like a joke. It's something I might do for a few hours on the weekend, maybe. The dream is dying. Again.
I hope this is just a phase, or a response to being treated really poorly at a time of extreme vulnerability. I really hope the dream isn't actually dead and I'm just expressing my pain this way. It's really hard to tell.
We'll see what tomorrow brings. Here's hoping I can fix up my sleep schedule a bit.

I think the reason I binged and gained all the weight back is because my problems were not fixed magically after I reached my goal weight.
It wasn’t enough and my goal weight kept going low. Yes, I was happy every time I would see the mirror and see how small my face has gotten or how small my thigh were but they were merely momental.
I couldn’t think clearly anymore, couldn’t work long hours shifts. I kept losing things, missing deadlines, disappointing myself, and I went to my breaking point when I left my whole freaking bag in the bus(which has my MacBook) on it cause I was too out of touch with this world, and 4 days later, I lost my phone in the beach. It got buried under the sand, and even with find my iPhone, I couldn’t exactly locate it. All this hurt so bad that I started eating again. I think I have always deeply hated myself and that I didn’t deserve good things. But after so many events happening one after another, it was so hurtful and traumatic that I felt like I deserved food.
I pitied myself. I let myself eat all the foods I hadn’t had in months. I needed energy to find a new job, being able to work, manage my life and earn back the money to pay my uni fees and buy a new phone. It was freeing first. But it slowly turned into binges. I didn’t like the fact I was gaining weight, so I ate more to hide from that uncomfortable feeling. From 44kg(98lbs) my lowest, I got up to 54kg in a month (120lbs). Honestly, I love eating whatever I want and I admit I have more energy and dignity but that’s because I avoid mirrors or reflection. As long as I don’t see my big face or acknowledge my belly fat or thigh, I feel amazing. I feel motivated and determined. I have goals in life now, but if I can’t come to the term with the truth that I have gained weight, and can’t look at myself anymore, isn’t it just as bad. The momentary happiness I used to get from seeing myself smaller has transitioned to the happiness I get while eating. Other than that, I feel sick cause I can’t believe my body has changed. It’s so simple but I am in denial. In denial that all those pizzas, good meals have made me gain weight. Isn’t that stupid of me? I want the energy it gives me, I want the taste, I want the freedom of not having to read every labels, ingredients, portion but act surprised when I gain weight.
Anyways, the point is I am gonna go on a diet again cause I did try out moderation, portion control, all food fits rules but I don’t seem to be losing weight this way. If I only love myself until I don’t acknowledge my reflection, is it not just denial? It’s almost the same as when I was in the other end of things. I just went from one disordered pattern to another.
I tried being healthy and adapt better mindset but I failed countless times and that too miserably. I can’t afford a healthier, stable mindset right now.
So if I have to choose between under-eating or binging, I will choose under eating. They are basically the same. They have almost equal number of pros and cons.

One of my favorite things is when people text and you can see their personality in it. People are like gifts that keep revealing new and exciting things and I just love it. I love how even when you can't be with someone or hear their voice, they follow distinct patterns of thought, and express themselves in that way.
I have one friend who texts almost exactly how she talks down to the "t" and it feels like she's right there even when she can't physically be there. I can practically hear her tone of voice and see her smile through how she texts. Its incredible. She types her excitement out with extra letters (ex. Aaaa yess!) and keeps a very casual flow of conversation. She uses emojis that I can't see fitting anyone else but somehow they just make more sense because she's the one using them.
I have another friend who's very direct and chill and I love the way that carries across with his messages. I love how when texts he uses big words and they flow so smoothly. He doesn't even have to try- I've heard him lace those same words into our regular conversations. I love how even our conversations about idiotic things have a purpose and how seriously he takes dumb ideas. I love how he "reacts" to my messages (iPhone thing) because somehow it just clicks with how I'd imagine him actually reacting in person. He never sends words in all caps but if he does (it's usually only one word) I get excited because that means something good happened.
I love how different people communicate different feelings in words. Some people cheat and use emojis but it fits them. But ultimately I love how they choose to express themselves through words or emojis or little keyboard faces. I love how much you can see about someone just by how they type. I love being able to interact with people over text and still be able to experience bits of who they are.
I am wildly in love with the people who text in paragraphs and the people who spam individual thoughts and ideas. I dont mind your venting or multiple messages of what you may think is nonsense. I think your stupid memes are beautiful. I think the gifs you send when you dont have words are amazing. How you talk is beautiful, no matter how broken or polished. I crave connection. I want to see who you are in what you do and how you talk.
And as someone who adapts the way I text to match the other person's style, it makes me wonder what they think. What parts of me are hidden that someone else might love about me? It makes me wonder how many people have a hard time texting just because they don't know how to express themselves or read the other person's "text language".

Clear evening, not too windy, not yet -4°, so time to get the telescope out. And the crazy thing is, it was as if — wait for it — the stars had aligned. This session went smoothly and swimmingly. 🤯 First of all, I figured out how to get the iPhone adapter snugly secured to the zoom eyepiece. Not having your phone randomly fall off the telescope helps a whole lot with your observing satisfaction. Second of all, I inadvertently discovered that I could let the autofocus algorithm make whatever neural net weighted average arbitrary decision it wanted to… THEN ADJUST THE TELESCOPE FOCUS TO COMPENSATE. 🤔😮🎉 Suddenly I was getting crisp detail without screaming and tearing my hair. 🥳What a glorious discovery. Having trouble with stupid AI? Let the dumb programming find its own level then use a physical process to do the real work. Problem solved! So I was able to get three planets and a bunch of Moon pics in quick succession. Venus is still too bright for the camera to really deal with but that’s a definite gibbous phase there. Callisto-Jupiter-Europa-Ganymede this evening; this new zoom eyepiece is really quite nice, I could see two cloud belts on Jupiter’s disk with my eyes but couldn’t get them to resolve in the camera even with the exposure cranked down really far. If this new protocol continues to work smoothly I’ll try to tweak things before Jupiter disappears into solar conjunction. And I got a pretty good disk on Mars, which was another surprise. This autofocus hack really made imaging the Moon a pleasure. Got a good crisp full disk, a detail shot of Tycho, crunchy terminator craters, various maria on the eastern limb, and a really nice closeup of dawn at Aristarchus. Yay zoom eyepiece! It makes it easy to get the telescope pointed correctly, then zoom in for detail shots without losing what you’re looking at while you fumble for another eyepiece. So — pretty awesome evening! 😁 #Iphoneastrophotography #lunarphotography #themoon #waxinggibbous #shallowskyastronomy #galileanmoons #jupiter #io #europa #ganymede #callisto #newtonianreflector #telescope #114mm #venus https://www.instagram.com/p/CoLw2DhMRAq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
