Something must be in the water because our friends at the Seattle Aquarium were out and about.
One of the keyhole limpets was stretching its shell all the way back to reveal its adorable puppy face, the crescent gunnel was ready to pick a fight and was slithering all over the place, the sea anemones have been as perky as I’ve ever seen them, and the new resident octopus, Queso, was putting on quite the show dancing about her tank changing colors and texture.
Something new I learnt about today is the Seafood Watch guide which can help inform us to make more sustainable decisions when eating fish and other marine life. Something worth checking out.

How one of the world's biggest food companies is innovating to fight climate change Complex problems like the climate crisis and food insecurity are, at their core, about addressing systemic change. This requires vision, yes, but also very specific, tactical goals to get there. Both are part of the strategy at Danone, the Paris-based parent of brands including Dannon yogurt, Evian water, and Silk soy…Read more... https://qz.com/how-one-of-the-worlds-biggest-food-companies-is-innovat-1850735664

Be sure to feed your Wii a variety of different disks so that they don't fucking die of malnutrition. Trust me, nobody wants that.

the insistence of some vegans that all animal agriculture is 100% horrible for the environment and all plant agriculture is 100% good infuriates me. some biomes cannot support plants with enough digestible calories to feed an adequate number of humans per acre! but many of those biomes CAN support plants that can feed a cow/sheep/goat/etc that can be turned into digestible calories for humans! we just need to know what land is best for what purpose, and ideally (this being the hard part that requires cultural and political change), minimize the shipping distance of both plant and animal products so that we're mostly eating local. sorry for the vent, you probably already know all this, it's just SO FRUSTRATING.
100%
It's about managing our ecosystem and balancing our agricultural pursuits to work *with* not *against* the environment, not cutting out a massive portion of our subsistence.

Found out there's a subreddit dedicated to v3gan pets. And I don't mean rabbits or iguanas. Nor dogs or cats with severe allergies who need an alternative diet just to stay alive. But honest to God, by choice, no medical issues in sight, feeding your carnivorous cat and halfway carnivorous/omnivorous dog a fully plant-based diet because it's 'the most ethical way to have pets'.
They site studies that have been noted for selection bias, tiny sample sizes, and literally just being polling data on owner's perception of their pets health which doesn't tell you fucking anything about what kind of damage making a carnivore digest plant matter every day of its life can do to its organs. There was even a post where someone asked why they didn't get an actual herbivore as a pet instead of forcing an unnatural diet on an animal that CANT SYNTHESIZE THE REQUIRED PROTEINS TO LIVE ERGO WHY IT EATS MEAT to live on a v3gan diet and some motherfucker said 'weh, I think rabbits need more space than a dog or a cat.'
A rabbit? A domesticated bunny? A domesticated bunny that weighs six pounds and was bred to be an indoor pet after centuries of being domesticated orignally to be food for monks during Lent THAT RABBIT NEEDS MORE SPACE THAN YOUR FUCKING 70LB HUNTING DOG YOU REFUSE TO FEED PROPERLY???
Not only do these people not know how studies work or how animal digestion works, they also just don't understand animals at all. Do no harm unto animals unless it hurts my feelings that can't accept animals eat other animals naturally and often cruelly then I will wreck havoc on this cats organs for its whole artificially shortened life to make myself feel morally superior.
Fuck entirely off and leave your animals in the hands of someone who will actually care about them instead of trying to have an animal abuse pissing contest with other v3gans.

"When we think of human civilization’s imprint on Earth, we tend to think of the world’s metropolises and megacities, interconnected by a dense network of roads, power grids and infrastructure. While these do represent pervasive land-use activities, they are almost negligible in terms of their ecological, economic and social influence when compared to agriculture. Globally, farming is the dominant form of land management today, and it is changing the face and the function of our planet. In recent decades, agricultural production has grown much faster than the population. The leading driver of this growth is plain and simple: the growing demand for food. Not only has calorie supply per person increased significantly, diet composition has been changing too – a trend tightly associated with wider economic development and lifestyle shifts. It is evolving from scarce, plantbased diets, with fresh, unprocessed foods, towards affluent diets high in sugar, fat and animal produce, as well as highly processed food products – diets that are also increasing household food waste. As a result, humans and livestock currently account for the great majority of the total mammal biomass on Earth, and the biomass of domestic poultry is nearly three times higher than that of wild birds. This is unprecedented. The production of crops has increased since 1961 by about 3.5 times, the production of animal products by 2.5 times, and forestry by 1.5 times.
The total land area used to nurture livestock is mind-blowing — it covers about 37 million square kilometres, roughly four times the size of Brazil; not only does it include all grazing land, but also a significant share of cropland, which is used to produce feed. Humanity, by using land to live, is changing it in unprecedented ways – endangering the land’s capacity to provide the services we depend on.
This land is our land, for better or worse. We should defend its integrity. Defend it by innovating, defend it by conserving – and defend it against ourselves, if needed. We’ve undertaken the first ‘green revolution’, changing the way we use the land in order to feed the world. It is now time to make that change sustainable, leading to what must, this time, be a truly green revolution."
The Climate book, Greta Thunberg

Flora Colossai/Groot Headcanon 1/?: Diet and Eating
Though they can mostly sustain themselves on water and sunlight like most plants and trees, The Flora colossi are technically opportunistic omnivores. They can/will eat solid food such as fruit, vegetables and/or even meat if the circumstances call for it.
When they are driven to hunt, flora colossi can use their shapeshifting powers to make themselves look like non-sentient trees and ambush prey of small to medium-sized animals.
Though, again, most modern day Flora Colossi sustain themselves fine on water/sunlight a good chunk of the time, so eating solid foods like fruit or meat is pretty much optional for them.
Flora Colossi such as the Guardians of the galaxy’s Groot even seem to enjoy eating solid food for fun. Particularly in social situations like when he’s with teammates such as Rocket.
#gotg#guardians of the galaxy#marvel#marvel comics#Groot#flora colossus#flora colossi#headcanons#gotg headcanons#I watch a lot of videos about carnivorous plants and thier evolution#so the idea of an omnivorous plants or carnoivorous trees fascinates me#the flora colossi are such insane creatures when you think about their diet and how it could sustain them#like it would make sense for a plant organism that developed sentience and high intelligence to be omnivorous to get more energy#but then you consider how freaking big they can get#like they would need to eat a lot/a lot of big things to sustain themselves#and that’s not even taking into account the energy required for them to use thier shapeshifting powers and health factor and all that crap#I guess that’s why most of thier energy would come form sunlight and water#it would take way less energy to get than hunting prey#plus since sunlight from the arbor masters gives fc saplings photonic knowledge maybe the sun(s) of Planet X have a lot more powerful#or nutrient rich energies compared to the Earth sun?#I’m defiantly reading too deep into funny alien tree biology#I mean superhero comics have taken way more questionable liberties when it comes to science#plus I’m sure no one at marvel has ever thought about flora colossus biology as hard as I have#also all this scifi pseudo science talk offsets the mental image of being ambushed and eaten by a giant tree monster#lucky unless groot gets trapped in the darkest and driest cave ever for a few days I doubt he’d ever try and hunt/eat any of his friends

10 Easy Ways to Lose Weight Naturally
1) Every day after waking up in the morning, eat one tomato on an empty stomach.
2) Mix 3 tsp lemon juice, 1/4 tsp black pepper powder and 1 tsp honey and drink it with a glass of water every morning. Do this continuously for 3 months, you will feel the change in your figure.
3) Even drinking a glass of carrot juice daily does not increase obesity.
4) Cut a lot of cabbage and mix it in the salad. Even this will keep you slim. Cabbage is easily digested. Also, eating it gives a feeling of being full for a long time.
5) Boil ginger and lemon slices in a glass of water for some time, then filter the water and drink it (make sure the water is hot). It prevents obesity as well as overeating.
6) Avoid excessive consumption of rice and potatoes. If you cannot live without eating rice, then cook rice in a pot instead of a cooker and throw away the excess water.
7) Include fruits like jackfruit, grapes, papaya, pineapple, apple, French beans, figs, peach, guava etc. in your diet. They are helpful in reducing weight.
8) Green tea also helps in reducing obesity.
9) Fasting once a week is also a good option. Take only liquid things on this day, it will remove toxins and extra fat from the body.
10) Avoid consuming too much salt, it leads to weight gain.
