Summary: Takuto and Meroko are struggling Team Rocket members, but maybe their luck is changing. If they can deliver this Mitsuki girl and her rare Pokémon to the boss, all will be forgiven. Everything’s going to be fine. You know, so long as they don’t get attached.
Negi Ramen have extremely Team Rocket vibes, so I couldn’t resist setting a Full Moon wo Sagashite fic in the Pokémon universe. I hope you enjoy it!

It’s my favourite month of the year, October! Like other Autumn months, October does not boast any major celebrations in Finland (all the fun is reserved for December).
This said, traditionally celebrating the Harvest festival, Kekri, would fall in October. There is no fixed date for it - people used to celebrate when they got their fieldwork done and the servants and tenants of big farming houses would get their salaries. Celebrating kekri involved also dressing up as otherwordly spirits and asking for food, which actually makes an interesting connection to the Harvest traditions in some Anglophone countries.
I picked the the main trio of Full Moon Wo Sagashite , partly because I’ve been re-watching the anime lately. The theme also fits in the sense that spirits and the dead were honoured on Kekri, and Takuto and Meroko are as death gods the spirits of the dead! Their outfits are inspired by Finnish regional dress, Tavastian dress for Takuto and Mitsuki and Tuuteri region dress for Meroko.
I also realised that I have so many pictures of the characters standing behind a table.... Layoutting pieces is not my forte, but at least this gives me some practice.
This piece is part of my fanart series depicting Finnish holidays and celebrations around the calendar year.

2022 means 20 years of Full Moon wo Sagashite and I’m living for it <3 my favorite shoujo series was first published January 2002 in Japan’s Ribon magazine. Written and illustrated by Arina Tanemura, it’s a tragic, powerful story about grief, loss and rebirth.
There are of course a few things about the series I don’t care for, but overall the themes and illustrations are beautiful and I really wish I’d read it much earlier than I did.
This piece is inspired mostly by the anime, which I prefer (unpopular opinion but shhh.) I don’t think I’ve ever drawn Mitsuki’s Full Moon persona...which is too bad! She was really fun to color. I’ve never drawn Jonathan either XD he’s one of my favorites in the anime.
I didn’t take as much time with this as I probably should have, but I still think it looks alright ^^
