Reading and writing about these dudes gets way more fun when you move past imagining them as your archetypical romance heroes by the way. When you stop portraying their desires as possessive and objectifying.
Because listen. They’re trained fighting dogs at their core. They don’t want you to be theirs—they want to be yours.
They want you to use them however you need them, to be whatever you need. All you need to do is give them a word of encouragement. A well placed “good job” at the right moment. And they’d do anything you told them, from that moment, forever, as long as the praise keeps coming.

RWTGI 35.1 - 35.2 Thoughts
I forgot chapter 35.2 is already out WAAAHH
I say Kirishima's name a lot this time, maybe I should call him Kiri.
Okay, this chapter confirms my suspicion. So his family really did neglect him.
Uhh I don't think the diary is meant to prove himself as a victim. I bet it's to keep record of what makes him happy 😅
BAHHAHAH Gaddamit.
Tumblr media
I thought he was mourning, or at least self-reflecting. Who knew he was playing soccer 🤣 (where is your sympathy kid, tf) At least he knew not to play in the middle of people mourning, lol
Oh yeah, I just remember, Sumire (Kiri's great-aunt) did say his parents tried to get him to talk after that incident, but no matter how much they tried, he never answered them. Maybe it's because he's aware he's too different from them, they wouldn't understand him anyway? If that's the case, that's kinda amazing of Kiri for being able to (kinda) open up to Gaku even though he never met him, because just from a short meeting he knows his great-uncle is not normal like himself.
(If Kiri is your average kid, even if Sumire dropped some hints that Gaku is similar to him, he wouldn't be able to take the hint because he's too clouded with "no one understands me" prejudice. But no. Our Kiri here uses his brainn, bro)
Aww baby 🥺
Tumblr media
Turns out his "friend" is more normal than he thought, his plan failed, he got into trouble. He did so much, yet, didn't get anything in the end lolol
I'm surprised Kiri is the first one who asked to be adopted. I don't think Sumire or his parents ever told him that the man in front of him is a yakuza. He must've put two & two together and concluded it himself.
Tumblr media
If I could guess why Gaku accepted a brat like Kiri, it's may be because he saw his potential. I'm sure he never heard about Kiri until his sister introduced him, but the fact that she asked for his help is enough prove that his family couldn't handle him anymore. He never introduced himself as a yakuza but Kiri, with limited informations and short time, knew right away. He's not scared or nervous like normal people. In fact, he just focus on getting what he wants, and willing to do anything to get what he wants. Talented. Abnormal. Obsessed. Unhinged. Gaku could really use those traits. Even if he couldn't become his grandchild, at least he could become a reliable subordinate. Maybe that's why he accepted him so quick 😂
(Turns out there's another reason in the next chapter tho, so I'll save my thoughts for later.)
This is just a reminder to myself: Gaku barely provided Kiri with the neccessity needed, probably because he needs to test his worth if he wants to earn that "yakuza's grandchild" title. Or at least that's my theory. Maybe Gaku is just naturally apathetic. Maybe both.
Kiri might've liked Gaku to a certain degree because he's one of his few family who accepts him as who he is, but I'm pretty sure growing up with a man like him in a yakuza household has worsen his mental condition, until he meet Yoshino.
Wow. Turns out it's not the first time he waits for hours in the rain 🤣
Tumblr media
AUGH. beautiful. Beautiful. I'm crying 😭😭😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's smart of the author. We wouldn't know if he really blushed because of her or if it's just the rain, lol
Yoshino saw a wolf. Renji saw a a guard dog 🤣
I don't like how Aoi kicked my son, but I have to agree with him here. Don't lick your blood on the floor, yuck.
Tumblr media
Daww look at his happy lil feet seeing his obsession crush 🥺🤭
We know that Kiri used to date older women to leech, but seeing it with my own eyes disgust me. Not just Kirishima, but that grown-ass woman too; having sex with a minor, what the fuck. That's what I like from the author tho, just bc the ML did it, it doesn't mean it's romanticized.
OOHHH the day when Kirishima is appointed to be Yoshino's guard dog. Never thought I'd see this day come so fast, I thought we gonna have to wait for ch 80 or smth.
Hmm? The guy who killed Kyousuke? Do we know him? Is it Suo Azami? Nah, if he's around the same age as Kiri, he's practically a baby at that time. Wait, didn't he change his face tho? How old is he again? Or myb it's not Azami at all, myb it's his boss, Akime Hishibe? Oh I forgot Shouma said he's already dead, but I highly doubt it. Maybe the mastermind is still alive.
Um, if Kirishima is owned by Gaku, and Gaku leaves him under Renji's care, does it mean he's now owned by Renji? He doesn't have to obey Gaku anymore?
I'm confused with this whole ownership thing now.
Tumblr media
Wait. A month? You gotta go big??
Wait wait wait.
Wow, oh wow. I need to recalibrate everything.
This panel gives chapter 2 a whole new layer. Wow.
Tumblr media
So like. He told her to sell her body not only because he was tired of her, but also because Renji told him he could make Yoshino go back to Osaka if he didn't feel like up to the task?
Though I don't think Kiri did that because he values his life; he did that merely because he thought she's boring and not worth his time. But then everything change 😂
Yo Renji. You're the one who said it's okay for Kiri to make Yoshino go back to Osaka. You said you'd take care of the rest, you even said he can be creative. He was doing such a great job at making her feel like she wanna leave, yet, you won't let him have his way?
Was Renji intentionlly flaming them both? Is this his plan all along; to have both children go screw each other in Tokyo and forget about Osaka for a year?
(Istg Renji's death flag has been up for a while now, I'm scared for Yoshino)
Tumblr media
Oh wow, Kiri really did not lie. Their interest really do align perfectly.
To continue my point above about why would Gaku accept Kiri into his house, it seems like he wanted to use Kiri's talent and obsessiveness towards Yoshino to make him protect her, because he feel indebted/guilty towards Renji? Was he feeling responsible for what happen to Kyousuke? If that's the case, this makes Akime seem even more sus bc he used to be Gaku and Renji's close friend.
Seeing Kirishima's reminiscence sure brings tears to my eyes. From obsession to genuine love and affection. He really does come a loong, long way, huh. Maybe I should make a meta about this particular scene but idk, let's see if I feel like it.
But I don't think he would've feel this way if Yoshino didn't acknowledge his quirks and treat him "normally." She really is amazing.
The way he's so scared when Yoshino didn't move for literally 1 second he decided to check her pulse, like she could just drop dead in a blink. Even though he has seen how strong she is up until now. That irrational fear of losing someone, he finally understand 🥺🥺
I'm really REALLY surprised Yoshino relented and agreed to eat parfait 🤣 Kirishima you always win huh 🤣
Aww, he returned to the same place when he first entered the yakuza household, eat the same parfait he used to eat, but now he's together with a friend/lover he treasures for life, enjoying the life he found boring at the beginning 🥺😭💞
These past chapters have been a treat. Even after he declares he loves Yoshino multiple times, we never stop doubting him because the fear he instilled at the beginning is too strong to dismiss. Just like Yoshino, we have this lingering doubt that he doesn't really love her, he's just obsessed. These flashbacks managed to shed some lights into his character, making him seem even more human. Kiri really HAS been trying to show how genuine he is -- in his own awkward way -- and it shows 🥹
Just 2 more chapters until we catch up to the raws, I can't wait. I've seen it, and all I can say is, it's beautiful. And Kirishima says some crazy stuff while sober. I just can't with him. I love him, I hate it.
See you next time 👋

OMGOMG SAFI congrats on 100 ml !! hihii im here to participate in your cute slumber party event ! (i even brought my fave pillow and totoro plushie)
okok soo yk i'm dria 🩵 black / caribbean, around 5'1 (i promise im so close to 5'2 don't @ me haters will hate i drink my milk and eat my veggies) i have huge hair!! like very big hair, too many curls!! it's alot! i love reading, i write plenty of poetry, which is what i use most of my time to do — i lovelove r&b and early 2000s rap music. however, if u open my spotify rn and shuffle my liked songs it would go in order of hip hop, rap, afrobeats, classical music bcus my taste is all over the place. (i also keep a folder of edit audios for my own maladaptive daydreaming purposes lmao)
im rlly a baby blue girlie, fave flowers are tulips (idk my brain js thinks they look yummy), fave season is autumn ofc bcus rainy weather and i have an excuse to stay inside under my blankets 😭 fave animal would beee a black panther or a tabby cat! (my bby bella is a tabby lmao) i love vintage shows (rlly old noir films of all types of genres) i love cinema and visual art it stimulates me sm (im autistic btw i forgot to say mb) i've watched almost every wes anderson film in existence i love soft color palettes in film so bad <3
i enjoy watching old cartoons to relive my childhood nostalgia, jewelry (esp rings i never go anywhere without one or two on), rainy days, late night car drives, baggy shirts, scented candles, afrobeats n anything astronomy related.
im very much a social science n humanities junkie - yearning to be a clinical psychiatrist or complete my dream of teaching literature / psychology. i cry very easily (im js a crybaby istg) - in general im just very very emotional and more often than not i forget common sense and instinct are a thing bcus wtv i feel i just go with it - though i am extremely introverted and freak out when overstimulated in huge crowds and whatnot.
for the event im picking toji bcus that man is the love of my life bye ☹️ the epitome of sunshine and sunshine protector - tiny human and big scary guard dog ! in terms of our compatibility, we're so opposite it's insane! but we balance each other out well. sometimes i have to serve as toji's brain bcus this man is spending money he does not have on all sorts of things for me js cause i looked twice (my sister hced that he'd go below bankrupt buying me sanrio plushies and rings) he works mostly off instinct where i go completely off emotion so we butt heads alot in terms of decision making but he does not know how to tell me no, all i do is sigh once and HES DONE FOR.
i stress this man out like hes my full time babysitter pls
we acc spend alot of time having deep talks about the world and life in general, (i told him ab the backrooms lore and it messed w his head for weeks) which is a side of him he rarely shows to anyone (also he listens to me rant abt daily pop culture developments bcus he lowkey loves the celebrity drama) he's rlly protective, and even moreso bcus of how my anxiety gets. in a crowd this man is standing in front of me and blocking my view of everyone (he also subconsciously pulls me into his side when we're walking in public bcus my autistic ass will see one thing and wander off never to be found again) im always talking like talk talk talking and he pretends he isn't listening but he's literally able to repeat today something i mentioned two weeks ago - he's attentive, shows his love through actions rather than words. if i even make a face that gives away that im uncomfortable being somewhere, or my social battery is dead, hes taking me home no questions asked not a care as to who says what.
im an affection junkie - physical touch is my thing ! and hes so big! so im always pouncing on him for bear hugs and he acts so unimpressed and cocky abt it like "oh you missed me? im not goin anywhere relax" but he acc melts bcus when was the last time someone gave him affection?? he prob thinks im a figment of his imagination lolol
days off / dates would mainly be : window shopping, grocery runs, sitting in the park at sunset, indoor ramen dates n movie marathons and cuddles !!
AHHH sorry if i ranted way too much omg i can't wait to see what you do safi, i'll love anything u write ily so baddd <33
note: hihi dria, thanks for bringing your fave pillow and your totoro plush to the slumber party.

being with toji is not always as seamless or easy as you make it look. He's gruff and protective and difficult and incredibly stubborn. like that time you two fought because he was ignoring what you were saying and he flat-out refused to acknowledge your demand when you called him out on it. to be fair, he'd come home after an eight-hour shift and you'd started talking his head off, but it wouldn't kill him to listen. he wasn't paying attention when you were talking about that new hello kitty cafe with the fun milkshakes and the mini donuts that you wanted to try. hell, he ended up falling asleep on your shoulder after brushing off your argument and as much as you wanted to remain angry at him, you'd softened immediately upon seeing his tired face, all eyebags and troubled frown. and he did make it up to you later by taking you to said cafe and proving that he had been listening, though when you brought it up to him, he pretended not to know what you were talking about. but deep down he cares for you and he's trying — you know he's trying and you don't want to make him feel bad for things he can't control. a lot of the concerns you should bring up to him, you don't — you want this relationship to be easy and safe. you want him to feel comfortable with you the same way that you feel comfortable with him. even if sometimes he comes home with a busted lip and bloody knuckles and sends your heart skidding against your ribcage. but what matters is that he comes to you first and he comes home to you. so you know that no matter what, no matter how he's feeling, if he thinks he can talk to you or not, he'll always come home to you. and even if you doubt his commitment sometimes, he knows that you're home to him and he'll do anything to keep it that way.

How the MLs were originally designed for Penelope's routes
@i-wanna-be-an-author answered an ask and I reblogged. And then I decided to separate my reblog into another post bc it was getting dangerously close to "research paper/analysis" length.
For a bit of context, they talked about JBE's post about how it doesn't make sense for Yvonne and Penelope to share MLs, given that the MLs killed Penelope multiple times. I propose that these MLs were actually meant for Penelope in the beginning, but Laila's brainwashing ruined it, as well as the curse on her. I'll also give short reasoning as to why some routes wouldn't work with Siyeon.
Derrick and Reynold would've been the tentative family healing path, where Penelope's circumstances improve and she begins to deal with her family issues and trauma. The two brothers would come to terms with Yvonne's death, introspect about their past abuse(after several wake-up calls), and how it ruined Penelope's life. Derrick needs counseling and to think about the implications of being physically attracted to someone 6-7 years younger than him(when he was 18 and she was 12), who was brought in because of her close resemblance to his biological sister.
This route wouldn't have worked with Siyeon(to some extent) because she herself gave up on her family in Korea, cutting ties with them. Reynold tried and defended her, which was how he managed to scrape by with an ok relationship with her. Derrick, on the other hand... well, he needs therapy.
Callisto would've been the route where Penelope was able to escape her circumstances through the hierarchy system. Callisto and Penelope would've been able to bond over their family trauma, deal with their issues, and be a pillar of support for each other. The position of Empress would've shielded her from any insults/pranks against her. They are, after all, intimately aware of each other's circumstances: The Imperial Ruffian/Crazy Bastard of Eorka and the Mad Dog of Eckhart/The Duke's Fake Daughter/The Chimpanzee with the Crossbow.
This is probably why Siyeon and Callisto end up together; Siyeon has similar trauma with Penelope, being a mirror of her circumstances.
Winter would've been a bit similar to Callisto, in that Penelope is able to escape her circumstances through the nobility system. Given that Penelope was an orphan from the streets, and Winter is known to take care of orphans, they could've bonded over that. His pristine reputation would've softened most of the attacks against Penelope. If he sensed magic in her later on, he could've taught her to control it, so that she didn't lash out and accidentally hurt someone with it. Anyways, Penelope needed a person who was gentle with her and helped her work through trauma, and maybe they'd deal with Winter's trust issues along the way. Penelope could've also bonded with the children under Winter's care, regardless if they had magic or not. Another thing: in this route, they might've been able to do something about Penelope's curse from the Laila. After all, Winter is highly proficient in magic and researched the ancient wizards/Laila a lot.
This route wouldn't have worked with Siyeon, because of her constant state of survival. Like in the manhwa, she would've deemed him too problematic to establish a closer relationship with. His trust issues were too much for her.
Eckles. I'll admit I hate on him a bit, but to be honest, it's kind of petered out to be lighthearted at this point. I don't really feel hatred for him as a character: like he did some fucked up shit in the novel that I'm not going to disclose, but in the end, it's my hobby to analyze characters and to see if they can be painted in grey. Given his status as Penelope's personal guard and a slave, Eckles would've been seen as a kindred spirit to Penelope. Both had low statuses at some point in their lives and are now in a hostile environment where everyone degrades them. With Penelope's childish nature and "immaturity"(how mature can a 17-year-old be when she's in a toxic af environment for 6 years of her life, with no one to help her rise to the expectations they had of her as a noble lady), Eckles could've served as a voice of reason, or helped untangle some of that trauma. I don't know. (To be honest, I should be analyzing Eckles more: It's more fun to try to analyze a character you don't really like objectively)Given their relative age and trauma, Eckles could've been a romantic or platonic relationship for her. Though hopefully, he wouldn't go neck-deep into the "obsessive yandere who'd be content with their target of desire's body" type of deep end. Again, something I mentioned was how stupid the idea of "Eckles and Penelope running away" was: if only because the duchy can't make their minds about her, and they'll think that he forcibly kidnapped Penelope.
This, I think, wouldn't work for Siyeon. She needed someone to fulfill her objective of leaving the game, and Eckles was more in love with her mask than her actual self. Both of them were using each other, with Siyeon focused on her own survival and herself, pushing Eckles away and giving him mixed signals and whiplash.

no bc some of you forget that beemoov is a company that has to provide for their clients. People may or may not pay to have these illustrations, if the clients believe it's of bad quality, then it's their duty to make the company know of it. And if bias also exist, then it shouldn't because bmv's not there to please the friends, but the clients. Because when those clients are gone due to their insatisfaction, then so is the company. It's not that one close friend of the illustration artist who's going to carry it. All this nonsense sure is annoying but it's necessary.
Hey, anon.
First of all, let's look at this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(this only happened if you had the lov'meter at 50)
Then the route happened
Then this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a nutshell; fanservice.
A huge amount of players have been asking for Lance content since origins. Nowadays, it's the route that has MORE players and the one who makes more profits in Eldarya.
Now, do you truly think that all these content that has been provided since origins, is just for Tetra? Just for her?
If all Lance stans are complaining because they don't like THE FIRST ILLU AS A COUPLE after waiting 7 years (remember, we're talking about the biggest group of players among the route) why wouldn't they do something about it?
Do you think that if Tetra were idk, a Valkyon stan, they would not have deleted his route? Or that if she were a Mathieu stan, Beemoov would have changed Mathieu's? I think not.
First of all, neither any of you, the people of The Hive or me know the kind of relationship Tetra and ChiNo have. Secondly, If the all-mighty Tetra, the evilest, had that influence in Beemoov WHY haven't the old crushes returned? She'd like to. Why isn't Lance the sassy and bold man he was? Why don't we have dragon p*rn? (Come on Tetra, you're letting me down.) Why is still Uncoven a Beemoov game? Tetra doesn't like it so I don't see why they haven't deleted it yet.
This is not the first time Beemoov has changed something after the episode's release after seeing the public's reaction. They changed Kentin's life and instead of returning to the military academy he's a dog trainer or something of the sort, they changed Eloise's feelings towards Farah in ml Aaron if the lov'meter with him is high, after the fire they added the possibility of changing the guard you're in after taking the test in origins and some more changes.
But hey, if you wanna think that Beemoov's decisions are based on Tetra's desires and likings, you should try convince her to ask for things for the other routes, then you'd be pleased as well lmao.

8
12 ½
No kiss boisterous rainy night - windy rainy morning and began snowing (the 1st time this winter) at 9am F47° at 9 10am – breakfast at 9 ¼ - Hinscliffe (James) came before 10 and staid till 11 – long collier-talk – with respect to the business in question (Spiggs’ colliery loose thro’ the Wellroyde holms) H- thinks we had better wait 2 or 3 weeks till he can get more information - thinks Samuel Holdsworth must be working on the same level and will be benefited by the Loose - others, too, may be benefited - hard to make Keighelys and c° pay for this but yet some provision should be made against it - nothing to be done but by a barrier-wall of ashler stone 3ft. long x ----- and well puddled at the back - this very expensive but nothing else will turn - I said, I had considered the matter and thought the loose should be worth half as much as the coal - he said he had nothing to say against it - but the coal was too dear at 80 guineas lower bed and 70 guineas upper bed - well said I, but value each bed at £50 per acre to the owner and each bed at £25 per acre loose = each bed £75 per acre coal and loose
SH:7/ML/E/17/0122
how is that - H- said nothing against it - agreed, however, to wait till he gets more information when he will call again - said he did not wish to say behind his back what he would not before his face, but Mr. Rawson is not a gentleman - (ie. for lowering his coal 2d. a load) - I said he was polish - he would worry up Wilson the little dog, and set Stocks, the great one, against him - W- cannot stand long - his loose and colliery will be put up to auction and Stocks will get it - I asked if it would be worth S-‘s while to give £5000 for it engine and looses without the coal - H- thinks not tho’ thinks S- has a 1,000 acre of coal (both beds) in Northowram but he can have as good a loose as W-‘s in the same clough above and set up an engine of his own for £5000 - H- however caught at the asking what it was worth, and said perhaps I should think of it - he would consider about it, get more information and let me know - I begged him not to name it - but said it would not be worth my while to give an out of the way price for it, tho’ I would not let S- have it for nothing - it then came out that perhaps Mr. Rawson must think something of it (thus confirming my guess that it would be so vid. 24th ultimo p. 215) - I said it would not pay R- for Joseph W- could give a loose, or if S- came to me I thought I could give him a tail-loose. H- seemed to consider a little and then answered well! perhaps I could - He said he heard I had been told that R- had got 4 or 5 acres of my coal - well! said I, and who told me? H- did not know - no! said I, nor do I know but the person who has told me must (tho’ I neither have told nor meant to tell it) is yourself - H- stared yes! said I you told me of their getting my coal - you told me of the water they would throw on me, and put into my head the penalty to guard against it - Holt has often wondered how I got to know about it so well - it is you who, in fact, put it into to sink my pit above - I know Mr. R- thinks you a friend of his and that you are in the same scrape about getting my coal - I know all this well  enough - but I mean you to be my friend - you and I  can agree - I don’t mind about your getting - Mr. R-‘s is a different thing - we then talked over the expense of R-‘s colliery £200 a year, said H-, will not work the engines and keep them in repair and find gas etc - well then allow £300 a year and 4 p.c. interest on £15000 expense on the colliery from 1st to last = £900 a year to pay out before a shilling of wages or ordinary expense is paid - we agreed this could not answer and H- owned he thought the colliery could not go on long in this way - we made out that Wilson could not get more than 2 acre per annum (1 hard and 1 soft bed) and that he has £300 a year 4p.c. interest to pay besides ordinary expense and this cannot answer H- valued the Wyke coal (late Mese, now Carvin cum [ux.] mere daughter of the former) when let to Rogers and Langley, at £300 per acre both beds and Johan Oates put £50 per acre additional on the 2 beds at which H- supposes R- and L- took it - got rid of it - sold him geer etc to the Low moor company for £500 and lost £500 by the little bit of the concern they worked - if the Low moor company have got it cheap, they have paid a good deal of money down to Carvin who is a man of expense - Lamplengh Hird should go into the pits, and not merely ride to the pit’s mouth - they let their iron stone to be got by day, and give some men 3/. a day who do not earn 6d. - they have let by the job and when the men have worked very hard so as to have a good bit to receive at the end, they (the company) have thought they (the men) had had too god a job and refused to pay them!!! sat with A- at her luncheon – from 1 ½ to 6 siding the papers plans prints etc and helping A- with her books – dinner at 6 20 – coffee A- and I ¼ hour with my father and Marian – then won a gammon and lost a hit – A- tired - sat talking and sat by her till she got into bed and then rubbed the back of her neck 13 minutes with spirit of wine and camphor till 9 ¾ - then ½ with my aunt – then wrote all the above of today (in the dining room – came down to the fire) till 11 35 - rainy windy winterly day - tho’ the snow that fell in the morning melted immediately and did not whiten the ground.

ML: Isolation Chapter 8: Deals
Arien walked into class the next day to see a crowd had gathered around Ivan. He decided to follow suit. The reason why became apparent, as Ivan had some scars on his face. “Ivan, what happened?”
Ivan smiled and said “Buster did it.”
Adrien was confused. “Allow me to explain,” Mylene said. “See, Ivan asked to help volunteer with me yesterday. I was going to the animal shelter, and I thought I had a good idea. See, some of the bigger dogs get a little too energetic, so I thought Ivan could play with them for a bit to help calm them down. And he was doing a great job, but Buster, one of the biggest ones, got too into it and scratched him.”
“I see,” Adrien said.
“It was a complete accident, and Buster even felt sorry about the whole thing,” Ivan said.
“Yeah, Ivan’s been really forgiving about this whole thing” Mylene said.
“Why don’t you show them the pictures?” Ivan asked.
“Pictures?” Alix asked.
Ivan nodded. He looked at Mylene. “Oh, alright,” Mylene said. “I was worried because they were all from before the scar, but since you say it’s OK…” she took out her phone and everyone gathered around her. Mylene showed off a series of photos of Ivan playing with dogs. It was completely adorable.
“I gotta say, I didn’t think you had it in you,” Alix said.
Ivan blushed. “I wasn’t sure I had it in me either. But honestly, it was a lot of fun.”
“It’s all thanks to Adrien here,” Kim said.
Adrien blushed. “Who me? I didn’t do anything.”
“That’s not true,” Ivan said. “Your talk inspired me to help, and I want to thank you for it.”
“Oh, well, thanks,” Adrien said.
“You’re a natural,” Kim said.
“Yeah” said Alix. “I mean, Lila’s been great and all, but I’ve never seen a result this dramatic this fast. Maybe she could learn a thing or two from you.”
Lila was surprised. She blushed, rubbed the back of her head, and said “Maybe.”
“We’ll see,” Adrien said. “I mean, I imagine we’re both pretty busy. From what I’ve heard, after school, your life is an adventure!”
“I’m sure we can make the time,” Lila said. “I mean, you’ve gotten to know the class, and you’ve only been here for a week or so.”
“That’s true. A lot has happened” Adrien said. What would happen if Lila and I were alone? She can’t know I’m on to her, can she? If she doesn’t know, I don’t think she would cue me in on her goal just yet. It’s still too early. Still, I should be on guard for that meeting. “Well, if our schedules allow for some one on one time, I guess we could talk.”
Lila blushed. “I’d like that.” Shortly after class began for the day.
During break, Ivan met up with Adrien alone. “Hey, thanks again man” he said.
“No problem” Adrien replied.
“I mean it” Ivan said. “I know I only asked to try and get closer to Mylene, but the whole experience was rewarding.”
“I’m glad you liked it,” Adrien said. Ivan then grew concerned. “What’s up?”
“Well… If I tell you something, can you promise not to tell anyone else?” Ivan asked.
Adrien smiled. “Of course.”
Ivan smiled back. “Thanks. ...It’s just, you kind of remind me of Marinette. You know, before she...well…”
Adrien was surprised. “Huh.”
“It’s just, she used to be so helpful,” Ivan said. “I guess she was, even when she was jealous of Lila. Don’t get me wrong, she shouldn’t have bullied Lila, or stolen from her, but if you were to talk to her outside of Lila, it was like talking to you right now.”
“I see…” Adrien said, pondering this.
“I mean, Lila’s been helpful,” Ivan said, “it’s just...uh...how do I say this? She is a nice person, but she’s not as good at it?”
Adrien smiled. “It’s OK. Remember, this is staying between the two of us.”
Ivan smiled. “Thanks. Well, we should get going.”
“Alright,” Adrien said. Ivan left. Adrien looked around and saw Lila standing by herself. He decided to walk over and say “Hello.” Lila looked at him curiously. “Looks like we’ll get that chance to talk sooner than we thought.”
“I guess” Lila smiled. She looked sad. “So, how do you do it?”
“Do what?” Adrien asked.
“Well, you heard the class today,” Lila said. “How do you help people so well?”
Adrien had to tread lightly. I don’t want her to undermine me on any future attempts to deconstruct her web. I still don’t even know how big it is yet. It would be foolish to make it bigger before my eyes. I just have to give a vague answer. “Well, I just listen and give positive reinforcement,” he said.
“I try to do that too,” Lila said. “But you’ve helped Ivan in a way I couldn’t. Why is that?”
She’s trying to get a more specific answer. Just keep it vague, and we should be fine for now. “Well, I guess that’s just because we’re different people,” he said. “We have different experiences, and as such, we would have different ways of helping people.”
“Huh” said Lila. “That wasn’t what I was expecting, but I guess that makes sense.”
Adrien smiled. “Tell you what. If you’re helping someone out, why don’t you text me or something? That way, we can work together! You showing off your strengths, and I showing off mine. I mean, two heads are better than one after all.”
Lilai was taken aback. She blushed and said “I’d like that.”
“I’d like that too,” Adrien said.
“Well, we should get back to class,” Lila said.
“OK” Adrien said. He started walking when he noticed Lila grabbing his arm. “Um, Lila?”
“Huh? Oh” Lila said. She let go. “Sorry. I just get nervous easily. You know, ever since the incident. And you just seem so brave. So, I just kind of…”
Adrien smiled. “I understand. Just make sure to ask. I’m not great with people touching me unexpectedly. Between my fans and Chloe, it started feeling uncomfortable.”
“Oh no,” Lila said. “Don’t worry. I’ll have a nice chat with Chloe about this.”
“You don’t have to,” Adrien said. Lila was surprised. “What I mean is, I’ve already talked to her about it, and she’s gotten better about it.” Lila smiled and nodded and the two walked off.
OK, I don’t think she’s on to me, and I’ve laid a trap. Sure, it’s double edged, and whether or not she’ll spring it is up in the air, but it’s still worth trying. Still, she knows one of my weaknesses now. It’s not a weakness she can use well, but I should be careful regardless.
After school that day, he hung out with Nino at the dance club. They taught each other more about the dancing styles they knew, and had another good time all around. However, when it came time for Adrien to leave, Nino rushed him out again. Once could be coincidence, but twice now? Something’s up. I just need to find a good time to ask about it.
He then got out his phone. He was going to message his bodyguard but decided to do a quick check of Noir Notes to see if there was anything new. He had now got in the habit of bringing his costume along, so if there was something he could do, he could do it.
Nothing around him looked like he was needed, and anything new on the site was more speculation, which was wildly varying, and more requests. Again, most of these requests were trivial in nature. But there was a new one that caught his eye due to how odd it was.
“Hello? Cat Noir? Um, I have a note I want to deliver to someone, but I don’t know how. Could you possibly do it for me? I’ll be in the TV station lobby tonight until 6:30. Thank you.”
Adrien was puzzled. He checked the time stamp. Today. And it’s about 5:45 now… He realized the Kids+ TV studio wasn’t too far from here. Well, let’s just hope this is the right one… He messaged his bodyguard saying to pick him up there at about 6:25, and went on his way.
Once he got there, he hid on the side of the building and dressed up, leaving his bag behind. As Cat Noir, he walked into the building. He approached the receptionist and rang the bell. The receptionist looked up confused and surprised.
“Pssst! Over here” said a voice. He looked over to see a young girl waving at him. Adrien was now the one who was confused and surprised. He walked over. He saw she had a lot of paper and some crayons for drawing. “I knew you’d make it!”
Adrien smiled. I love her optimism Although, she is a child, so she probably doesn’t know it was dumb luck that brought me here. I won’t tell her though. He grabbed some of the paper and a black crayon and decided to write his statements, stylizing them like a child. “How did you get onto Noir Notes?”
“Um, I saw mommy doing some research on there. She’s a news reporter! She gave me this” she said, holding up a tablet, “to watch some videos on, but I really needed to get this note out” she now held up her note. “So, I logged on and tried my best.”
Adrien smiled for her. “You did good kid. What’s your name?”
“Manon” she said. “Anyway, can you deliver this?” She held up the letter.
“Who’s it for?”
Manon looked sad. “It’s for my old babysitter,” she said. “I don’t know if you know her, but her parents run the bakery you went to.” Adrien was surprised. “Mommy said she did something bad, and that she’s not allowed to babysit me anymore. I know she didn’t do it though! She’s so nice! I wanted to deliver it to her, but I don’t know how to get there without getting a ride, and mommy won’t help me mail it. So, please?” She held out the note again, this time with her baby-doll eyes.
How could I say no to that face? He wrote “Do you need to get it to her ASAP?”
“A...SAP?”
Adrien silently chuckled. “As Soon As Possible. It means does she need it right away?”
“Oh. Well, I would like for her to get it right away, but as long as she gets it, I’ll be alright.”
“OK. Thank you. I will pass it along to her.”
Manon’s face lit up. She was so giddy she was just about to charge in for a hug. She then stopped herself and asked “Um, can I give you a hug?” Adrien nodded. Manon rushed in and hugged with vigor. Adrien hugged back.
Adrien hadn’t even considered something like this. I promise you, the two of you will be reunited. It may take some time, but I will do it. He let go and took the note. He did a two finger salute to say his goodbye and left.
He went to the side of the building to grab his bag. However, he bumped into someone. He looked up to see that it was his bodyguard, holding his bag. The two looked at each other for a little bit. Adrien surmised that he came by and saw the bag on the ground and went to investigate. Despite his appearances, Adrien knew his bodyguard wasn’t stupid. There wasn’t really a lot he could do in this situation. He sighed. “Can you at least not tell my parents and only talk to Nathalie about this?” The bodyguard was confused, but nodded. Adrien changed out of his disguise, and put it back in the bag. The two went to the car and headed home.
On his way back, Adrien messaged Marinette. “Hey, we have a bit of a situation. I got caught as Cat Noir by my bodyguard. I managed to convince him to only tell my family’s assistant, but I can’t lie to them. Could I just tell them about you? If that’s alright? Please get back to me ASAP.”
Later, Adrien was meeting with Nathalie. Adrien’s costume was on the table, along with his phone. Nathalie was rubbing her eyes. “Adrien. Please tell me you have an explanation for all of this.”
“I do,” Adrien said.
Nathalie put her glasses on and glared at him. “And?”
“Oh. Oh you want me to TELL YOU my explanation” he said. “Well...um, this is gonna be difficult.” Marinette hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I don’t know if I can keep this up.
“I can’t in good conscience hide this from your parents,” Nathalie said. “Please explain to me what possessed you to do any of this.”
“Ummmmmmmm...”
Suddenly the phone rang. Adrien reached for it, but Nathalie grabbed it first, as if her hand was as fast as hurricane winds. She noticed it wasn’t a registered number. She answered “How did you get this number?”
“Um, Adrien gave it to me” Marinette said timidly from the other line. “You’re the secretary right?” Nathalie was alarmed. “You’re talking about him being Cat Noir… Well, that’s kind of my fault.”
Adrien was worried about what was happening on the other end. He tried reaching for the phone, but Nathalie blocked him. She continued to listen to Marinette. “I see...Thank you. Have a good day.” She hung up. She sighed. “Adrien. I know you can be a bit of a problem child.” Adrien remembered several times in which he attempted to sneak out or run away just to be on his own for a little bit, causing his parents, his bodyguard, and Nathalie to worry. “But THIS just takes the cake.” Adrien looked worried. “I’ve heard what your friend Marinette had to say. Now let’s hear you explain it.”
Adrien was puzzled. “Well, so, you know how Ladybug is my favorite designer for father’s company?” Nathalie nodded. “Well, I’ve been wanting to meet with her for a while now. I figured out her name, but not much else. Then, when I went to school, I caught her catching a glimpse of me. I learned that Marinette was considered a bully, and then later, I was told by father that Ladybug had new designs for me. I knew then they were the same person.”
Adrien explained the rest of the story. How he couldn’t be seen going to the bakery, and how he felt so desperate to meet with her. The origin of the disguise. The whole Lila thing. He hoped that it got through to her.
Once he was finished, Nathalie composed herself. “Well, at least the two of you are good at corroborating, if nothing else.”
“But it’s the truth!” Adrien said.
Nathalie smiled. “I know. I can tell when you’re lying.” She sighed. “Alright, I won’t tell your parents about all of this, at least for now. But I want you to promise me something.”
Adrien was confused. “What?”
“I want you to talk to your parents more about what’s going on,” she said. “You don’t have to explain everything, at least not yet. Don’t get me wrong, I want you to, but I understand why you won’t for now.”
Adrien looked sad. “Adrien,” she said. He looked up. “They’re your parents. They care about you. They want to hear about how you’re doing. Perhaps they can even help you. Of course, I’ll be willing to help you too.” Adrien looked excited. “If what you said about this Lila person is true, then I wish to help you. I know a thing or two about behind the scenes work. Your bodyguard will also be able to help. Isn’t that right?” She looked at the bodyguard, and he nodded. “Just be sure you’re keeping up with school, and all of your other stuff.” Adrien nodded. “You’re going to be really busy. Are you sure you can handle it?”
Adrien grinned. “When you’ve had nothing to do for most of your life, there’s a lot of pent up energy to do all of this.”
Nathalie smiled a silly grin. Adrien was perplexed, because that smile was rare. “You know, I sat in on some of the meetings where your parents were discussing you going to school. Your father was worried about all sorts of things. I thought he had run through every possible scenario. I guess I was wrong.”
Adrien smiled. “Oh yeah” he said. He took Manon’s note out of his pocket. “Um, I’m supposed to deliver this to Marinette. Is that alright?”
Nathale smiled. “Don't worry Adrien, I’ll take care of this. Your father wanted me to investigate the bakery anyway. You know, after your little stunt.” Adrien blushed. Nathalie grabbed the note. “Alright. Just do whatever you were going to do when you got back before all of this. And remember what I said.”
Adrien nodded. “Thank you,” he said.
Nathalie smiled. “Let’s go!” she told the bodyguard. The two of them headed out.
Nathalie and the bodyguard had managed to get to the bakery before it closed. Nathalie walked in alone. Sabine and Tom turned to her. “Um, hello. How can we help you?”
“I know this is a bit sudden,” Nathlie said, “but I work with Gabriel Agreste. Because of the recent attention brought upon you, he wants to know about his place. I know that you’re closing now, but is there a good time to set up a meeting?”
Tom and Sabine were shocked. “Um, what would this meeting be about?” Tom stammered out.
“Mr. Agreste likes to consider a lot of possibilities” Nathalie said. “He was wondering about using your bakery as a set. Or barring that, using some of your goods for a baking motif.” Tom and Sabine looked at each other, not sure about what to do. “I will tell you, a lot of this goes nowhere. But, if you’re interested in the possibility, here’s my card,” she said, handing it to them. “Also, I found this outside your door. It’s addressed to a Marinette.”
“That’s our daughter,” Sabine said. “I’ll make sure it gets to her.”
Nathalie smiled. “Thank you. Also, if it wouldn’t be any trouble, could I get a box of cookies.”
“Oh, it’ll be no trouble at all,” Tom said. He left to get them.
“You know, Mr. Agreste’s son came in and he also got cookies,” Sabine said.
“So I’ve heard,” Nathalie said. “He told me they were delicious. I’m curious.”
“Here you go,” Tom said.
Nathalie paid for them. “Thank you.” She left the store and got in the car. They pulled off. Nathalie started eating the cookies. “Want one?” she said, offering one to the bodyguard. He rejected. She continued eating them.
The bodyguard then gave her a stern look. “Don’t look at me like that,” she said. “Look, I know it’s crazy, but I really want to help Adrien here. Was he foolish? Of course. But being young is all about making mistakes. I’m just here to make sure he’s making the right ones.” She smiled. “Besides, can’t you tell?” The bodyguard raised his eyebrow. “Our little Adrien’s in love.” The bodyguard thought about it, and then nodded. “I’m just not sure he knows it yet.”
Adrien went back to his room as soon as the meeting was over. He headed to the computer and saw Marinette messaged him. “Adrien! Are you alright? What happened?”
“I’m still trying to process that myself,” he replied. “But basically, not only has Nathalie agreed to not tell my parents, she’s willing to help me.”
“...? Why?”
“I’m not sure. But I’m glad she is.”
“Well, I’m glad things worked out for you.”
“Sorry about dragging more people into this…”
“It’s OK. This was sudden. I get it.”
“By the way, the mission I was on as Cat Noir involved you.”
“Me?”
“Yup. I was to deliver a note to you. But Nathalie’s taking it to your place. She said she needed to scout it anyway. You should be getting it soon.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome. Good night.”
“Good night Adrien” she typed. She saw Adrien log off. She then spoke to herself. “What could that be?”
“Marinette!” her mom called. “There’s a letter for you! I’ll just slip it through the door as usual.” Marinette rushed over and opened the hatch door. Sabine was surprised to see her. “Marinette?”
“Uh, yeah. I just wanted to get this from you.” She took the note. “Thank you, mama!” She kissed her mom on the head, and closed the door.
Sabine was surprised. “Well, it’s good to see she's getting better.”
Marinette went up to her bed and looked at the note. “Manon?” she said, recognizing the handwriting. She opened it up.
“Marinette, Mommy says you did something bad, and you can’t be my babysitter anymore. I don’t think that’s true though. You’re so nice and kind. I can’t believe that you would do something so mean.
Mommy says you haven’t left your house much since got kicked out of school. You taught me that sometimes people just need to be alone sometimes. But I do want to see you again. I want to show you how much I’ve grown since the last time I’ve seen you. Please come out soon. Once they realize you didn’t do it, I’m sure they’ll forgive you. -Manon”
Underneath was a drawing of the two of them. Marinette was impressed, and at the same time heartbroken. Manon still believed in her. She couldn’t believe it herself. Manon looked up to her so much, and wanted her to leave. Meanwhile, here she was wallowing in self-pity. Marinette began crying. “I’m sorry Manon.”

Secret Quartet thing. Do you think LB and CN after meeting AmDrag now know of the magical society present in Paris? And does Fu know of it and them of him?
Hi, Anon! I’d like to think how much Ladybug and Chat Noir know about the magical society in Paris would be highly dependent on how they met the Am Drag. If it was just him, or just him and his family, or just him and Fu (Dog), or otherwise not him in the middle of some dragon business with some also obviously-magical creature, then there’s a possibility of the larger magical society remaining a secret. They might find out that dragons are real enough, but they wouldn’t necessarily discover anything beyond that.
They’re using magic, but they’re still human. Technically, they shouldn’t be allowed to know anything more than necessary. (I mean, they shouldn’t be using magical objects or anything like that at all, because I don’t think the Dragon Council would be overly happy that humans are running around with extremely powerful magical objects, but there’s a reason the dragons don’t know much of the Miraculous in any of my SQ crossovers; I think they play their cards pretty close to their chest.) I firmly believe Tikki and Plagg would know everything, even if the dragons know next to nothing about them (the kwamis have longevity on their side if nothing else). I do not believe they would be inclined to tell everything—or even anything more than they have to.
I think (Master) Fu would know something of the magic society. He’s been around a long time, been around magic a long time, and wouldn’t dismiss things as easily as other humans. He’d see things, and he’d suspect. He may not have more than suspicions, but he’d have solid enough suspicions to be able to keep the Miraculous safe. (I am not inclined to believe he’d be particularly eager to hand the Miraculous over to anyone, let alone some dragons in human form that show up and demand them.) He’s used to hiding, and Wayzz would help with that, which could also be why the dragons wouldn’t necessarily know of him, either. At least, if they know of the Miraculous, they likely know someone Guards them, but they probably have less to go on than Hawk Moth. They probably wouldn’t have known the Miraculous were in Paris until they were suddenly being used again.
Secrecy is such a big thing in both universes—especially ML, seeing how Spud and Trixie (and Rotwood, and Brock, and the Huntsclan (or at least 88 and 89), and, at the series’ end, Jonathan and Rose) all find out about the magical world and nothing is done to address that after Jake doesn’t give Trixie and Spud the potion. I just don’t see them telling each other their secrets, particularly since Adrien doesn’t find out about Master Fu for a while after Marinette discovers the truth. He didn’t make an exception for the woman he loved, either. He is doing his best to remain undetected while keeping an ear to the ground to keep the Miraculous out of danger.
All that being said, Jake would talk if not given a strict warning against it (and even then, he’d probably let a few things slip), and Marinette and Adrien would certainly be curious. But I don’t think Marinette and Adrien would volunteer any information about Master Fu—just telling Jake, if he keeps asking, that they found their Miraculous one day—or even about the kwami if they could specifically avoid it, though someone with Jake (Gramps, Fu Dog, etc) might know enough to ask, or possibly be able to sense the kwamis’ magic.
I don’t really think all the cards would be put on the table unless it became absolutely necessary, such as someone from the magical world stealing one (or many) of the Miraculous (possibly or possibly not working with Hawk Moth, potential plans for double-crossing aside), and the others needing to follow the trail to get it back. They would probably try to keep back what seemed to be ‘unnecessary’ information, up until the point it became clear that the information was very necessary, and then everyone would know everything. (How much of the ‘everything’ makes it back to the Dragon Council would be another matter entirely, and a certain potion would no doubt be brewed for the thief—tweaked, as necessary, to account for any inherent countering magic said thief may possess.)

Interview: Erik Fellows Talks ‘Purgatory, ‘The Bay’ and More
Erik Fellows is a man of many talents. He was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, and grew up an only child in an Italian-Swedish-English household.
His first passion was basketball. He dedicated himself to the sport and eventually became the starting point guard on his varsity high school basketball team.
At the beginning of his senior year, he sustained an injury that put his basketball career on hold, but it led him into the entertainment industry. Fellows was introduced to modeling through an agency in Georgetown, DC, and began working as a model for ads and catalogs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Fellows relocated to New York City and began booking print work and commercials for designers and companies like Macy's, GQ Magainze, and Cosmopolitan Magazine. From there he moved his career to Los Angeles where he landed huge commercial campaigns with Verizon Wireless, Gilette, and Pom Wonderful.
You might recognize Fellows from his roles as the love interest in Jennifer Lopez's “Me Haces Falta,” Katharine Mcphee's “Love Story,” Lindsay Lohan's “Rumors,” and Dido's “Sand in My Shoes“.
Over the years, he has appeared in several TV shows including CSI: NY, NCIS: Los Angeles, and in a recurring role in Days of Our Lives. You can currently catch him in the Amazon Prime series The Bay, the upcoming series Purgatory, and in the new film Starf*cker.
Credit: Baker Photography
Maggie Lovitt (ML): Have you been working on anything during quarantine?
Erik Fellows (EF): Yes, I've been working on a new series called “Purgatory.” We were shooting season one and season two in Armenia when the virus started to expand, and we filmed until about March 20, and then we were sent back to the states. I still have to go back to Armenia to finish a few episodes for the second season. Once I got back to Los Angeles to keep myself busy, I have two other projects in preproduction, and I'm getting ready to start the sixth season of my Amazon prime show, “The Bay” series.
ML: There's so many new series on streaming services, have you binged anything lately?
EF: Well, let's see I've binge-watched “Ozark,” “The Last Dance” on ESPN, “Tiger King” on Netflix, and “Upload” on Amazon Prime. Those are just a few of them, but there were many.
ML: Have you worked on learning any new hobbies or skills during quarantine?
EF: I sure did. I learned how to adapt to seven people living in a home with four cats and a dog. LOL!
ML: I love getting the chance to talk to another actor who got their start in the Mid-Atlantic. How did you get your start in acting?
EF: It’s sort of random. My girlfriend at the time was babysitting a six-year-old boy for a friend. When the mother came to pick her son up, she came inside for a few minutes, and I was getting ready to head home. The mother stopped me as I was leaving and asked if I had ever thought about modeling and acting. She mentioned that she has her son was in acting and youth modeling for big companies like Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, etc. She asked me if I wanted to give it a try because she thought I had a great look and an outgoing personality. I initially was hesitant, to be honest, I hated drama class in high school and quit. All I really cared about basketball. So as far as modeling goes, my friends would have teased me.
She said, ” Well, let's hear them tease you when you're making a great living as a model with that face and maybe one day become a TV/ movie star! ” I laughed and never thought that was ever even a possibility. She said, well, I'm going to introduce you to a modeling agency in Georgetown, DC, as a possible back up plan for you, and hey, you never know where it could lead! I ended up signing a contract and started work as a model doing ads and catalogue in the local area.
This wasn't my first dream, and I wasn't sure if it was something I was fully interested in at all. But it was something to pay the bills, and I was making some extra cash while trying to figure out my life. I eventually started to gather more of an interest in it, and I relocated to New York City. I seemed to have a knack for this industry, so let's give this modeling and acting thing a shot.
ML: As a fellow SAG-AFTRA member, I love hearing about how actors got their SAG vouchers. What job landed you in the guild?
EF: I got my vouchers when I was still living in the Washington DC area, and I was standing for a show called the District and then boom three vouchers!
ML: You starred in Days of Our Lives for three years, with filming schedules on soaps being so tight, what was that experience like?
EF: When you first come onto a soap, you hear all the stories of how much page content you shoot per day. Sometimes we used to shoot one or two episodes in one day; it's something you have to get used to! I have major respect for soap actors and those who started in a soap; it prepares you to be prepared, is the best way to put it. It's easy to get stuck in the soap idea of the soap way of how they shoot daytime. The fast pace and not being able to venture outside the box as much as you'd like to like on film productions or even primetime TV.
ML: Do you prefer the more fast-paced nature of soaps, or do you enjoy having more time with a script like on a film?
EF: I have gotten to a point where I can break a script down pretty fast because of being on soaps for as long as I was. But, of course, I think any actor would like to have more time with the script and be able to endure the character and bring the character through them as authentic as they possibly can!
youtube
ML: What can we expect from this season of The Bay?
EF: The only thing I can tell you is that the storylines will be solely based on COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter. That's all I'm allowed to give out.
ML: I noticed that the filming location for Purgatory was Armenia. What was it like to film overseas?
EF: It was a great time for me in Armenia. It was quite a beautiful country. It was snowing when we first got there, so it's really pretty in the mountains; the scenery was just gorgeous so aesthetically. It was gorgeous to film!
ML: What can you tell us about your character, Bobby, in Purgatory?
EF: Well, Bobby is quite the bad guy. He's actually a pretty bad, bad, bad guy. He's an ex-con murderer that isn't too polite to people, and he demands his way!! The best way I can describe him is a charismatic, charming, sinister, evil, delightful, exciting, sociopathic, and oddly sensitive guy with a twist. Quite a different character, I must say. I'm very excited for people to see the series and get to meet Bobby!
Erik Fellows as “Bobby” in Purgatory
ML: Starf*ckerseems to be an incredibly relevant film, with so much that's come out about the dark side of Hollywood. What can you tell us about your character Jimmy?
EF: Yes, “Starf*cker” is a very time-sensitive and also relatable dark comedy about Hollywood and the underbelly of the twisted dark understandings of the City of Angels they haven't shown on TV or movies, maybe bits, and pieces. Still, we unveiled a lot of what's not shown in a comedic way! It is based on the #metoo movement, the manipulation, the power of the sex, drugs, and how it can lead darkness and or death in the end! I play the role of Jimmy Starr. The story follows the life of Jimmy, the quintessential actor that will do whatever takes to make it.
He has his crossroads in his life. People sort of know who he is. He's not reached the top at this point. Still, there's a wall where it seems if he doesn't start taking advantage of the Hollywood understanding and manipulating its way to the top from what we hear of how many to do it, he'll never achieve greatness. Hence, if he was the life of an actor who struggles with the darkness, rejection, and loss, there's a major conflict in the film that is unleashed and throws a twist into it, but I can't give it away right now. But yeah, the movie was shot uniquely.
It covers breaking the fourth wall as his character/ alter ego / is also driven in his POV. It's an interesting character study on the type of person that either becomes or is a narcissist or has addictions and the things that they go through in this downward spiral down this dark path and are given ultimatums in the end! I hope people see this movie and understand there are lessons to be learned from it. It's funny, sad, crazy, dark, over the top, and offensive. We didn't hold back.
ML: Your resume seems to cover almost every genre — is there any type of film or TV series you're dying to be part of?
EF: As of late, I've been getting roles that have always interested me, like playing the nemesis or just a bad guy. Lately, I've been playing to the extremes of both, so to be honest, I am not sure. Maybe if I were to play a character with some special needs, that would be something for me that's different to tap into that I have not done yet.
To challenge the understanding of life and the brain of someone that goes through some sort of syndrome, the average person isn't capable of understanding what they go through daily! So that's something I would want to dig into, and then learn more about. That's definitely a challenge for any actor to comprehend. I wish to be tested on that level!
ML: What draws you to the roles you audition for?
EF: Do you look for roles that challenge you? As I answered my last question, absolutely. I like to play against my look from what someone would typically cast me as. A sports type, physical parents, race, gender, but yeah, I know I typically look for a role that can challenge me. That I get to play within my head and in really understand.
Where I can relate to this character and make me my own thing, many actors always think you're playing into an idea of something. Still, the audience is watching me / Erik Fellows, so I want to give them whatever I've created within myself to betray that character being Erik Fellows the most authentic way I can live and delivering Erik Fellows within that character.
ML: Do you have any aspirations to write and direct?
EF: I'm not saying that I would never have the interest to write or direct. But I think for now I'm really enjoying creating as an actor in front of the camera. But you never know if one day I get the itch to dabble on that of the camera.
ML: What is something you always have to have in your trailer?
EF: Red Vines, Sour Patch Kids, bottled water, and Coca Cola.
ML: I have always joked that I got into acting because I love set catering. What's the best meal you've had on the set?
EF: Man, let me tell you, this one time we were treated like kings and queens. They had everything imaginable. They fed us Filet Mignon and garlic mashed potatoes with an amazing salad and grilled garlic shrimp with this amazing sauce, including any and every dessert you can imagine.
ML: What do you always have to grab at crafty on set?
EF: Fruit snacks, Red Vines, bananas, trail mix, honestly pretty much everything.
ML: La Croix, Bubbly, or non-sparkling water?
EF: Non-sparkling.
ML: What is something you always have to make sure you have with you on set?
EF: Backpack with all my little essential needs; chapstick, eye drops, deodorant, and phone charger.
You can follow Erik's career on IMDb, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Congressional Republicans were caught off guard by the Trump administration’s decision Thursday to pull $7 billion in Obamacare funding next week, leaving them scrambling over whether or how to replace the critical subsidy funds.
President Donald Trump had been threatening for months to cut off the funds, which insurers use to help low-income people pay their deductibles and co-pays, but Congress had scant warning when he finally stopped them, effective immediately, less than three weeks before the Nov. 1 start of the next open enrollment season.

A bipartisan attempt by Sens. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.) to stabilize Obamacare, which would fund the subsidies for up to two years, has already encountered skepticism from GOP conservatives and growing opposition from the White House. The two lawmakers plan to keep talking — but it’s a tough road.
“Under no circumstance should Congress attempt to expand Obamacare by cutting a check for President Obama’s bailout of insurance companies,” Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.), chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, tweeted late Thursday.
In the short term, a bill to restore the funding faces huge political hurdles on Capitol Hill, where the White House’s decision has reignited the partisan warfare over the GOP’s failed Obamacare repeal efforts. Democrats are already eyeing a year-end spending bill or a supplemental disaster bill as possible places to tuck in the Obamacare funding.
But without the money for the cost-sharing subsidies, which reduce the out-of-pocket health care costs for low-income people, the Obamacare markets are likely to grow more unstable over the next year, with big questions about viability in 2019.

The sudden decision to end the payments — which is likely to be thrown into the courts — presents a risky political calculation for both parties before the 2018 mid-term elections.
If Republicans negotiate with Democrats, it means taking partial ownership of a health law that is toxic to their base. If they walk away, it may not be so easy for Republicans to keep blaming Democrats for higher premiums with the GOP in control of Washington. Similarly, Democrats have to decide whether it’s better to make changes to Obamacare, or to blame rising premiums on a Republican party hell-bent on taking insurance away from people as they head into the fall campaign.
Several polls have shown that while the Trump base still clamors for Obamacare repeal, much of the country wants both parties to stabilize the health law. A poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation released Friday found that 7 in 10 Americans want the Trump administration to make the health law work, not make it fail.
While they don’t have a final agreement yet, Alexander and Murray have a general framework they hope will result in a deal: Republicans would support up to two years of cost-sharing payments in exchange for giving the states flexibility to get around Obamacare’s requirements. But the negotiations had stalled over how to define that flexibility in a way that both parties could accept. Alexander and Murray plan to keep working when the Senate returns from a recess next week.
They have support from many governors, including some Republicans who would prefer to see a stable insurance market rather than an imploding one.
“I continue to be optimistic about our negotiations and believe we can reach a deal quickly — and I urge Republican leaders in Congress to do the right thing for families this time by supporting our work,” Murray said Friday.
Before the funding was pulled, Senate Republicans were increasingly pessimistic that Murray and Alexander could reach a deal that a broad number of Republican senators could support. And they were even more skeptical that any plan they pass could get through the more conservative House, where the GOP lawmakers are still smarting from seeing their Obamacare repeal bill die in the upper chamber.
Privately, many Republicans hoped the White House would continue making the payments so that the GOP didn’t have to deal with the problem. In fact, within a day of the announcement, notably few Republicans had made public statements to weigh in one way or another on the White House’s decision.
Trump has often mused about throwing the Obamacare markets into chaos to force Democrats to the negotiating table. He spent months toying with pulling the subsidy funding before making the call Thursday night — just hours after signing an separate executive order paving the way for health plans that are exempt from Obamacare rules. Policy experts warn those “skinny plans” appealing to younger and healthier people could do widespread damage to the individual market on its own.
“Massive subsidy payments to their pet insurance companies has stopped,” Trump tweeted afterward. “Dems should call me to fix!”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer quickly ruled out any thought that Democrats might be pressured to give ground on health care, repeatedly telling reporters that it’s up to Republicans to find a way to fund the subsidies or risk owning whatever chaos hits the markets.
“Republicans in the House and Senate now own the health care system in this country from top to bottom,” he said. “Threats and bullying is not going to work. In this, politically, [Trump]’s in worse shape than we are.”
With polls showing that Americans largely hold Republicans responsible for the fate of the health care system, there’s little incentive to give in to any demands that would make major structural changes to Obamacare.
“Our Republican colleagues understand that they have an obligation to solve this problem,” Schumer said.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi urged a quick repair. Funding could be restored in a “stand-alone [bill], a vehicle that’s attached to a supplemental, or down the road in the omnibus, but that’s pretty far down the road; hopefully we could resolve it sooner,” she said.
Republicans also have to decide whether they want to step between the increasingly hostile relationship between the White House and insurance companies. The combination of the White House decision to cut the cost-sharing payments as well as the new executive order to allow insurance companies to sell less regulated plans has the potential to further destabilize shaky markets.
“They’re sending a signal as strong as they can to the insurance industry: I double dog dare you to participate” in the Obamacare markets, said Rodney Whitlock, a vice president at ML Strategies and a former GOP aide on Capitol Hill.
It was House Republicans who first objected in 2014 to the Obama administration using its executive authority to fund the subsidies — a legal challenge that they ultimately won in a district court. But when Trump won the presidency, it put the GOP in a difficult spot between pushing to end the subsidies at the risk of owning any resulting damage, or quietly reversing their stance in court.
House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) said Trump’s decision reaffirmed that only Congress can appropriate money.
“As Obamacare’s failures continue to hurt families across the country, Congress is continuing to look for ways to provide certainty and lower premium costs for the millions of Americans still trapped in Obamacare’s collapsing marketplaces,” he said.
Conservative Republicans on Friday said the decision to stop the payments is an opportunity to renew the repeal debate — calling on the GOP not to accept anything less than a total replacement of Obamacare.
“We need the focus to be on repealing and replacing Obamacare,” a spokesman for Walker said. “What we don’t want is for the Senate to pass a bill that simply props up the failing system.”
Heather Caygle contributed to this report.

Pound it! Ten Takeaways from Eagles 26, Chargers 24
Sometime during the second quarter of the Eagles’ 26-24 Sunday win, a FOX producer took us to commercial break with audio of Old Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.”
Oooo baby I like it raw. Yea baby I like it raaawwww!
It was an accurate foreshadowing, as the Birds raw-dogged the Chargers with a 13-play, six-minute drive to finish off the road victory.
Last year’s Eagles might have found a way to lose this one.
Instead, Doug Pederson called a great game, Carson Wentz played smart football, and a banged up defense did enough to get the job done on the “road,” which was actually a soccer stadium filled with Eagles fans.
Most important, I think, was the way they came out after an emotional home win last week. Don’t sleep on the “letdown” angle of this ballgame. Even after another shaky start to the fourth quarter, the offense rallied with a dominant drive to put away Los Angeles, or “San Diego,” as Mark Schlereth would say.
So the Birds are 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the division, with the Cowboys and Giants losing on Sunday and the Redskins probably losing tonight. They’ve won more road games this year than the entirety of 2016 and four of the next five are at Lincoln Financial Field.
It’s hard to find much to complain about at this point. Instead of wondering whether this team is any good, we’re wondering just how good they can be, though it’s fair to point out that they did start 3-1 last year.
1. Is this.. a three-headed monster?
The Birds ran for 214 yards behind a 51 to 49 run/pass ratio (sort of). There were 37 called runs and 36 called pass plays, which really skews to 35/36 because of two quarterback kneels at the end of the game.
Basically it’s as close to 50/50 as you’re going to get.
LeGarrette Blount ran it 16 times while Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement handled it 10 times each, so not only was the play calling balanced, but the distribution among the backs was very even as well.
Smallwood took the type of snaps that Darren Sproles would get, running mostly out of the shotgun. Blount was used from under center formations primarily, but they did try a couple east/west shotgun looks that obviously didn’t work.
Here’s Blount’s chart:
Notice that his least effective runs were east/west head scratchers?
Maybe most interesting was the fourth quarter usage of Clement, as he converted third downs on his 9th and 10th carries of the game. That follows up last week’s fourth quarter touchdown run. It’s strange to see Pederson go to the rookie in the final stages of these games, but he’s answered the call with success now two weeks in a row. Credit where it’s due.
2. Bend it like Jake Elliott
I haven’t seen anyone kick the ball like that since David Beckham played in this stadium!
Hurr hurr hurr! A soccer joke!
Anyway, Jake Elliott nailed kicks from 40, 45, 47, and 53 yards in this game, and not a single one looked iffy. If he finished 3/4 we’re talking about a 24-23 Eagles loss.
It looks like the kicking game isn’t going to be an issue, but let’s not get carried away:
Are we taking Jake Elliott for granted already? When he went for that 51-52 yard FG, I legit stood up and almost left to go to the bathroom

3. I don’t get it
The Eagles “left guard by committee” thing continues.
Stefan Wisniewski started the game, then ended up splitting time again with Chance Warmack. From that point on, it looked like they switched every two series, but I’m not really sure what the logic is behind the move. Wisniewski was playing fine as the Eagles took a 10-0 lead on their first two drives.
We’ll see what Doug has to say about this on Monday afternoon.
4. Throw the ball down the field
Sean Cottrell wrote last week about Carson Wentz’s deep ball ability. There were a variety of reasons why he was misfiring on passes of 20 yards or more.
This week, he nailed a couple of these looks, including this seam-splitter to Zach Ertz:

Wentz had another great ball for Torrey Smith, which the wide receiver dropped.
It’s a clean pocket, a quick drop, feet set, and right on the money:

Smith, to his credit, acknowledged the play after the game:
In the middle of the worst stretch of my career…I'll bounce back…proud of the team
— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) October 1, 2017
Wentz finished 2/6 for 74 yards on passes in that 20+ yard range. He would have finished 3/6 for ~101 yards if Smith had made that grab.
5. Max protect and beat ’em deep
Last week, the Eagles played soft coverage underneath to protect a young secondary and keep Chris Maragos from having to deal with Odell Beckham, Jr. and company in space.
Even with Rodney McLeod back in the fold, it was somewhat similar this week, though the Chargers were much better at gaining yards after the play and the Birds’ tackling was subpar.
The only time they were really torched deep was the first touchdown, when Tyrell Williams got past Rasul Douglas:
75-yard TD!
Philip Rivers launches it DEEP to Tyrell Williams for a @Chargers score. #Chargers #PHIvsLAC http://pic.twitter.com/0cn0Uvut9G
— NFL (@NFL) October 1, 2017
You notice in that clip that the Eagles safeties are nowhere to be found.
When you rewind, you see the Chargers in max protect against a four-man rush. The safeties back off a bit but then bite on the play-action, plus the intermediate route from the second receiver, which gives Williams a chance to beat Douglas with a double move and take it to the house.
You see both safeties at the far left of that clip bite, while Jalen Mills (top left) realizes what’s happening, but can’t bail out Douglas until Williams is already gone.
6. If it ain’t broke..
Running the ball led to success with play-action, and the Eagles abused it with some really nice slants.
They ran the same play two times in a row in the second quarter for gains of 12 and 14 yards, respectively:
http://ift.tt/2g4ye46
Later, they ran it again for a big gain and called it another time unsuccessfully, which was a less accurate pass that might have involved some pass interference against Ertz.
I’m pretty sure they ran the above play four times.
And why not? If it’s working, keep doing it. Doug did the same thing in Week 3 with a pair of back-to-back sweep plays for Smallwood.
7. Protecting the football
For the first time this season, the Eagles didn’t turn the ball over.
Outside of Carson Wentz recovering his own fumble, there really weren’t any hairy moments in this department.
The Birds have seven takeaways and five turnovers this season for a +2 margin. Detroit leads the league with a +9 while Chicago bottoms out at -7.
8. Doug’s worst call?
I didn’t like the decision to throw short of the sticks on third down during the first drive. LA bailed out the Birds with an offside call.
I’m also not sure about running Smallwood on third and 8 on the first drive of the third quarter. It seemed like Wentz may have called an audible there.
The only other thing that stood out to me was the decision to try to pound it in multiple times after Blount’s ridiculous beast mode run. They ran him twice up the middle, which was fine, but then tried to go east/west, which didn’t work. The Chargers again took a terrible penalty (hands to the face) to keep the drive alive.
9. Doug’s best call?
Big fan of the fake end-around screen play on the second drive. They tried something similar later in the series that almost blew up in the backfield, but Wentz was able to find Blount on the other side of the field for another big gain.
I thought it was the right move to punt on that fourth and short before the half. Even if LA made a big gain to start out the ensuing drive, it was a pass underneath and a poor tackle attempt, not a scenario where they were two passes away from setting up a field goal.
I also thought the hand off to Clement in the third quarter to set up the Wentz sneak was the appropriate “four down territory” type of play call.
10. “Home field” advantage
Yeah, it was great to see all of those Eagles fans in the house, but it’s sad that a NFL team is sharing a stadium with the Los Angeles Galaxy, who used to share that stadium with the now-defunct Chivas USA. Carson, California is kinda crappy anyway.
Los Angeles doesn’t need two NFL teams. Do they even need one? We’re gonna go from having teams in San Diego, Oakland, and Saint Louis, to having two in LA and one in Las Vegas. That seems kind of redundant to me.
It’s bad enough watching MLS teams like the New England Revolution share a field with the Patriots, then play on turf with football lines painted on the field. It’s another thing to see the penalty area and soccer markings in a 27,000 capacity arena that now hosts professional football (as a secondary tenant).
Surely there was a better way to handle this.

Struggles from the booth
I’m not gonna rag too much on Dick Stockton and Mark Schlereth for continually saying “San Diego” instead of “Los Angeles.” It’s gonna take time for people to get used to the fact that the Chargers are playing in a new city.
There were some other weird moments, though, such as Alshon Jeffery being called Alshon “Jefferies” multiple times, and a moment where I’m pretty sure Stockton said “loans” when he meant to say “Lowe’s.”
Stockton also mentioned at the end of the game that a touchdown would ice it for the Eagles, but LA didn’t have any remaining timeouts, so they just took a knee instead. I swear I also heard one of the two call Carson Wentz “Carson Palmer,” but maybe I was losing it at that point.
The most bizarre moment was right after the Eagles went up 16-7, when C.S. Lewis’ fantasy world of “Narnia” was invoked.
Schlereth: “One of my favorite players, right here, Jason Peters. You watch him one-on-one, with with the defensive back that comes off the corner. Look at this right here. Look at this move. I don’t know where he went to school. I think he went to the University of Narnia, because you cannot be that big and that athletic and that smooth. I love it.”
Stockton: “I got my master’s (degree) at that school.”
Schlereth: “Did you?”
Stockton: “Third down and eight…”
