His breathing was deep and even, and one long hand was palm up on the blankets between us, as if in offering, or beseeching something of me. Sleepily I reached over and set my hand in his. I'm on my first read through of Realm of the Elderlings and as a little personal project for myself, I'm taking a scene or small moment from each book in the series and turning it into a comic spread.

I think I'll forever be chasing the high I felt while reading Fool's Errand for the first time. I could have chosen any number of scenes to panel but it just had to be The Reunion. Pg 99-105 changed my brain chemistry.

He was a slender youth, but just as the lightness of his horse prompted one to think of swiftness, so did his slimness call to mind agility rather than fragility. His skin was a sun-kissed gold, as was his hair, and his features were fine. The tawny man approached silently save for the rhythmic striking of his horse's hooves. When he drew near, he reined in his beast with a touch, and sat looking on me with amber eyes. He smiled.

Something turned over in my heart.

so i'm rereading snippets of Fool's Errand for reasons & it's been about as emotionally devastating as i thought it was going to be but hELP i did not fucking remember these lines

"Discontent washed through me again, and childishly I blamed him for it. If he had not come to see me, I would never have recalled how much I missed him. I would have continued to pine for the past, but I would not have begun to long for a future." (ch. 10, p. 209)

HE JUST SAYS IT ALL RIGHT FUCKING THERE! Beloved = the future = wanting something possible that scares the shit out of you vs. longing forever for a safe & simple past that you can never return to!!!!!! making myself insane about fitz & the fool again like "What has become of me, that I did not even know you though I carried you in my arms?" juxtaposed with "My dream was dead in my arms," the fool finding fitz alive after a year of thinking him gone, saving him all unawares bc he's been so blinded by the loss, and then fitz finding the fool dead in a panic of other hopes, knowing him for himself so desperately that the manner of his death hurts him almost more than the fact of it, and carrying him to the first safe place he can think of—and then they both, in their own ways, resurrect the other one, just!! i MEAN!!!!! i me A N

As I continue to process the end of Fool's Fate, I've been thinking a lot about Patience and Nettle and what their early interactions might have been like. I made this fan comic exploring the dynamics of a long-lost-grandmother-granddaughter relationship. I imagine this takes place sometime while Fitz was lost in the Skill Pillar.
