THE GREAT COUNCIL OF 101 AC
Artwork by Campbell White
Half a year later, more than a thousand lords gathered at Harrenhal—the largest castle in the realm, and the only one capable of holding them all. In total, fourteen claims were put forward at the Great Council of 101 AC, and over thirteen days those claims were considered and debated. Nine lesser claimants were swiftly dismissed, and the claims of Archmaester Vaegon, Princess Rhaenys, and that of her daughter Laena were eventually dismissed as well. That left the contest between Prince Viserys on the one hand, and Princess Rhaenys’s son Laenor on the other.

Another HotD Rant (HotD misses Misogyny w/Prophecy)
HotD either forgets or ignores that the Dance was more about misogyny than "who would make the best leader by personality and 'serving the realm' alone"?
Aegon's prophecy about the Long Night and needing to unite the prior Westerosi kingdoms and create a dynasty to rule said united regions-as-one-realm for this cataclysmic event only needs one thing as its base: for the Targs to stay untied and continue. But the Targs didn't stay united, and why? Heavily because of misogyny and patriarchal selfishness.
When Jaehaerys I ignored and dismissed Alysanne's protests about making Daenerys and then Rhaenys heir, leaving it up to male lords as to who would be next ruler knowing how and who they will choose, do you think he was concerned about "who is serving the realm"? NO! He wanted to solidify male-exclusionary power so the Targ dynasty would become more and more assimilated into Westerosi patriarchy through that male-exclusionary power. He over-compromised. For AND using male political dominance.
What the hell is all this "what will serve the realm" nonsense and why does HotD feel that to make the female leaders stronger, they have to suffer, and "sacrifice" to the patriarchal authority, and be excluded much more from politics than they were/did in canon?!
Rhaenyra serving all the council members instead of just Viserys.
Alicent marrying Viserys at 15 instead of 18 and having a rotting man thrust into her.
Alicent forced into marrying said man.
Rhaenyra not given her red/black dress moment as her moment of defiance. And it given to Alicent instead!
Rhaenyra totally ignored twice at council (by Viserys in episode 2 and by Alicent in episode 6, and Viserys not saying anything bout that...meanwhile he's the one who appointed Rhaenyra in the first place...).
Rhaenyra having to travel to King's Landing to "make her case" in a bogus hearing lead by the Greens instead the whole deal taking place in Driftmark away from Viserys and her dealing with it herself with her partner taking her orders to kill.
Alicent not knowing or being included in the council's plans for Viserys' death. In the book, she actually spearheads the whole operation, imprisoning people and gathering the council while leaving Viserys' body to rot to extend the time needed. A much more active and self-driven act than in HotD.
Rhaenyra facing Daemon loudly question her in front of all her councillors...also doesn't happen.
Rhaenyra facing domestic abuse (once again, doesn't happen by reading b/t the lines of F&B and considering context and events that follow)
Oh god, this damn show.

About the Devildom's Great Council #0
No. 0 of The Great Council-The fool/傻瓜/바보
Name: Shǎguā-Xiǎo Měirényú
Birthday: March First- National Pig Day
Race: Demon
Gender: Female (mtf)
Sexuality: Trans + Panromantic
Age: 104,000 moons (about 8,000 human years)
Spirit Animal: Hereford Pig
Assigned fairytale: The little mermaid-Danish fairytale
Likes: New ideas, Hard chalanges, Ambitious people, Freedom
Dislikes: Hesitant people, Bad choices, Bad habits
Power: High Hopes- She has wnough confidence to "move the fucking Celestial Realm off its hinges" (quote by No. 13)
Based on The Fool in Tarot cards, or rather the other way around, Shagua is a dreamer and a high achiever. She is a very sensitive person and will usually rather reflect on things than jump straight into a confrontation.
Speaking of wich, she was the first one to be chosen in the council by Mox exactly because of her rational and emotional intelligence. Shagua pays attention to every single detail when she needs to take a decision and will never forget the importance of her role. While others would most likely get corrupt by the power, she stays true to her nature and lets her inner wisdom guide her when her eyes are blinded by greed.
Taking all this into account, please don't think that she is some sophisticated, serious person. Quite the contrary. Shagua is carefree and sweet, with a personality of gold. "She is our little ray of sunshine" (quote by Barbatos). Yes indeed, she is like sunshine that comes by your window after a very cloudy day when you believed sunshine will never come again. And yet it did.
Her power is called High Hopes and works as a support spell that gives people around her a boost of confidence and reliability on her. People that are under the effect of HH can experience difficulty in physical jobs, but their mind and their inner self are healthier and stronger than ever.
"She has enough confidence to move the fucking mountains, but enough doubts that she will ponder on the consequences" (quote by Mox)/ While her power indeed is very helpful, especially to individuals who have a more mentally draining situation, when the effect wears off, you start to doubt everything you did while HH was in full strength. This makes you crave it more... then more... then again more, like a narcotic drug.
She is a very sociable person and an active member of Devilgram, unlike some of her colleagues. Oh if she had a grimm everytime No. 20 told her she is too old to spend so much time on social media... she'd be richer than the witches that hunt Mammon down for money. She has two accounts: @Shaguaa_pig in which she behaves like a foodie and posts whenever she is out eating something, everything that looks good and sometimes even short videos of her making some snacks for herself. She loves food, that's for sure. Maybe she'll try human cuisine too (yet she is afraid to ask Solomon for help); and @MeiMei which she uses to chat with close friends and very rarely post a picture of herself.
Speaking about appearances, she is a very comfortable character... she is known to wear colorfully and lively patterned sweaters in cold weather, and if it is warm outside, large and thin robes paired with a straw hat. To protect the precious baby from the sun. (No 8: what baby? No 0: Me... I'm the baby)
Her demon form, or how we know it from now, formal attire, is her wearing a more refined dress that has a bell shaped lower part and in which the upper part is backless to let her wings flutter as she wishes. Yes, she has wings, but they are too small to help her fly, they are more like a decoration of some sort. She loves them though, nd would never trade them for a tail if she had the possibility.
Because her spirit animal is a pig, her horns are small, thick, the tip pointing downward as a Hareford breed's ears. As accessories, many would notice the string that is tied in between her horns. If the sstrnig is not there... run. Run for your life bae, cus it means someone ate her food- no I'm kidding. She most likely found out someone's family is abusive and wants to just "have a little talk with those bastards".
She absolutely loves Turqoise stones as gifts, especially the raw form. This is a nice little gift to give her when you see her angry. Not when the string is broken though.... that thing cannot be represed with a gift; she needs that blood of those who dared to abuse her little baby-
She sees most humans as children, babies. She will want to protect their lives as long as none hurt others. Shagua would look at someone's grandma and go: "What a sweet, youthfully soul. I wish all the best to you child!" Being a demmon, she doesn't understand why the old person would probably cry because of happiness from her words or be crancky that she mocks them. And poor her would be so confused... "D-did I say something wrong...?"
her favourite colour is Chelsea Cucumber, because it reminds her of the grass in Cloud9.... so green and loucious. So fresh, yet a dull enough green to balance the perfection of life. She's shed a small tear seeing it almost everytime. People around her say she is too sentimential, but I beg to disagree.
She enjoys spring days, as they are the perfect time for a stroll in the heart of the devildom in late afternoon or early evenings. She'd probably drag Jumu there against his will. Poor Jumu... always get's dragged in her shenanigans.

Hello there
Since the dance of dragons war is based on the Anarchy, i wonder is there any significant similarities between Matilda and Rhaenyra, Aegon and Stephan? Other than Woman getting usurped by a man ofc . Also wouldn't be more logical for the dance to be between Rhaenys ans Viserys i?
Anarchy, as in the motorbike gang show? Or general "anarchy"?
And no, Rhaenys was already passed over twice, once by Jaehaerys when she was pregnant with Laena, the other we see in the show when Baelon died and the lords chose Viserys over her. Jaehaerys I didn't allow any more wars or battles to happen by allowing that Great Council. (But that Council would have never needed to happen if he just let Rhaenys rule. But his misogyny got in the way.)
So what exactly do you mean by “logical”? this is an actual question, I do not mean to mock you or express disdain.

Do you think Alice's motivations for putting her son on the throne are valid? both in the book and in the series?
Motivations, yes, consequences of those motivations and actions, no. Nothing justifies the outcome on either side, neither are the good guys, but her reasons are more valid and interesting to me than the Blacks.
It's not that there's no power seeking in it, especially in the book, but Aegon is the male heir, by law he should sit on the throne- if Viserys' bitch ass didn't want that, why exactly did he remarry and impregnate a teenager? If law doesn't matter, why are we taking any Targaryen claim or succession seriously? Her children's lives are at stake no matter what anyone says, their existence is a threat to the Blacks and Daemon would see to it that they be killed one way or another, so none of the lords can turn to Viserys' sons as heirs.
Because Rhaenyra is incapable of discretion or any sense of responsibility, she brazenly pops out clear bastard after bastard (offering marriage for Helaena is only to protect herself and her illegitimate kids) and commits high treason by passing them off as heirs. Even if Alicent and co never wanted to touch the throne, a new crisis would break out at some point based on that alone, with Aegon being pushed for king, and both sides know it. They're not gonna silently sit and watch a bastard take the throne dfkm. He was never legitimised, as fans like to bizzarely say, because he was never acknowledged as a bastard but falsely called the trueborn heir. Thanks to Viserys' inaction and ineptitude, there is no scenario where war does not break out or Alicent's children aren't straight up killed, so how can you not understand her?
And even without all this, even if her motivation was pure spite, why not. The show's prophecy miscommunication was nonsensical, that motivation is not valid at ALL and was a spineless cop out. She should have spat in whatever was remaining of Viserys' mouldy eye socket and told him she'd crown Aegon if only for his years of neglect of the children he forced on her. Aemond was mutilated and not only were there no consequences whatsoever (not even an apology), Rhaenyra asked for him to be tortured and Viserys cared more that his bastard grandkids had been called bastards, then his son- Alicent's son- being permanently disfigured. (The fact that the show has Alicent forget/forgive that after the time jump is so insane). There was no clearer writing on the wall as to what would become of her and her children than that moment. That should have been framed as the night where war after Viserys' death became a bitter inevitability and every fear Alicent ever had was confirmed, becoming all the motivation she needed.
