how come you don’t write as much anymore?
because you have to practically beg and plead people to interact with your work and it’s extremely demotivating and makes you question your ability and self worth and I straight up just stopped tolerating it lmao

Do you have any thoughts on Jabberwock and the ghouls there?
I really enjoyed it! It makes me wonder why the house doesn't allow general students, maybe a risk factor? But if it was a risk factor, why would the school allow general students at all?
Haru's a treat, I really enjoyed meeting him, he seems to also push himself too hard. Do you think his gloved hand is a prosthetic or something similar?
I also ended up warming up to Ren at the end. I can understand why someone would be annoyed with his attitude and general asocial behavior, but I do see things from his perspective, he's like a more moody Kaito in that aspect of "I might be a ghoul, but I'm still just a normal guy. I didn't ask for any of this, I'm not built to go through this kind of stuff" way of thinking. But I also appreciate that he will do something when the going gets tough, as long as he's allowed to complain about it, lol. He has a different way of showing that he actually does care and I do really like that about him.
I also want to see him and his relationship with Towa evolve. I kind of already had a feeling that Towa wasn't a big Ren fan towards the beginning, neither person understands the other it seems, and it makes me want to see what Ren's thoughts are about Towa. Towa calls Ren an interloper, so it's obvious that he doesn't think that Ren belongs there, and Ren would probably agree, but then I remember what Kaito said in the prologue about Jabberwock needed someone grounded, someone to tell them when one of their ideas are kinda dumb or they're doing too much. That's why I also believe that when Ren does become a second year, he won't actually want to transfer houses anymore. I think he'll warm up to the house, Haru and Towa.
My apologies, my plan was to discuss all of Jabberwock but it turned into a Ren rave session!
I also really like Ren, so no worries. If you have more thoughts about all of Jabberwock you can send them my way, you aren't limited in your asks.
A couple things of note~
Jabberwock did have general admission students at one point, Kaito tells us at the school administration only stopped this recently. This makes me think that something occurred during the clash that made them deem the house unsafe, perhaps something to do with Towa since the school feels the need to be "careful with him."
Actually while I am talking about Towa, I have this thought... crack conspiracy theory if you will since I have next to no evidence for it but just hear me out- What if he wasn't always human? Animals becoming human is a common theme in myths, he could have wished on his demon to become human, and if he was maybe some sort of powerful anomalous creature it would explain his ability to "control" them... and why it's different from his stigma which appears to be controlling weather. And why he loves Haru so much! All the anomalous creatures do! And why he eats flowers and why his blood type is unknown and his obsession with romance because he probably finds it a bit silly and why he hugs MC after she says she thinks anomalous animals aren't so different than people and-
Anyway I got Jabberwock in my little dorm test at the beginning (they were always going to be my boys, for better or worse) and during that sorting Hyde specifically says "Interesting, so you value trust, huh? You're caring and loyal in all your endeavors." So when I saw Ren get sorted into Jabberwock that's what I immediately thought about. Ren appears to be filling our gamer/otaku trope in the roster, so seeing him as someone who values trust isn't really hard for me. He probably was thinking about how he wanted people he could be himself with, and while Haru and Towa are certainly out there that's not beyond them to do. If anything they seem like the most accepting people in the whole school, their little group really does feel like a family. It's nice.
I hadn't actually thought much about Haru's gloved hand since one glove on and one glove off isn't exactly uncommon (Ace Trappola Twisted Wonderland only wears one in his school uniform cards) but I went back and checked the available card art in the game just in case I had missed something. Haru always wears two gloves unless he's in his casual outfit, where he has just the one or his sprite after being injured where he has his gloved hand and then his bandaged one. I don't have an sr or ssr of him so I can't set him to my homescreen to check what his Nightmare Raid sprite would be, but since Tohma is still wearing his monocole for that idk if I would say that counts as evidence. It could be that he has a prosthetic of some sort, he is always over working himself so I could see him injuring his hand to the point where he needs one? But I am uncertain if he has one now.
I think a lot of my opinion about Ren and his social aversions sort of comes from my own thinking about my anxiety disorder... simply put it is not healthy for humans to spend as much time alone as Ren is trying to and even if it drains you, you need to push yourself to interact with people face to face. Not just online. It's work, ugly hard work but you have to do it so seeing him interact with Haru and the animals and just try. It makes me so proud of him I really want to see where he goes from here.
I don't think anyone's pointed it out yet, but I think he might know Sho. He refers to him in his thoughts as "that burn out" and constantly hides from interacting with him. He is also VERY AFRAID of the water, specifically sea water, which makes his efforts to save Calamari just that much more admirable. Sure, he complained the whole time, but he fought his own fears to save the life of an animal because he is caring and loyal and god I was so proud of him!!!! Go Ren!!!! I agree that I don't think he'll leave in his second year, he's a lot more "normal" than Haru and Towa are but still just crazy enough to fit in to their little group. They really do need him, and I'm sure he will realize that he needs them too after a while.
Towa has difficulty communicating in general due to his non verbal nature (as a side note, this seems to be tied to time of day. he's been chilling on my homescreen and he stays non verbal until around sometime between 3-5 est??? Which according to my brief google search is around 4-6 am jst... I need to pay closer attention) he seems to try and give flowers to communicate? Of the flowers he has given out, wolfsbane symbolizes misanthropy? "A dislike of human kind" so I think he is using that to say "I don't like you D:<" to Haru when he is chilling injured on the couch. He both calls and gives MC a dandelion, which symbolizes "hope, healing, and resilience" and you could also point out how some people see it as a weed despite it being a very useful plant. And in his homescreen lines he gives MC a five leafed clover (good luck) and cherry blossom petals (death, beauty, and violence). He says he keeps some petals in his memory box? And seems to expect you to eat them so it could be nothing but the idea of him with an angry pout collecting plants just to say "harumph. i don't like you right now ୧(๑•̀ᗝ•́)૭" is just too cute.
Back to his and Ren's relationship though, I think he probably sees Ren as annoying in the same way a particularly bratty child does a new younger sibling. It used to just be him and Haru but now there's this new kid that Haru is putting a bunch of time into and that means less time with him! Also it probably doesn't help that he slacks on his chores around the dorm. The book 3 mission seems to have helped bring them together a little bit, so I am looking forward to when we hear from them again.
Because we had better do you hear me game, we had fucking better!!!

I dunno why people in 2017 were so shocked by douchebag young Dalinar. To me the path between Frat Boy Unlimited to Obnoxious AA Middle Aged Man is crystal clear and I have at least one relative and several other family friends who fit that mold

[you and me are in a lot of trouble] - listen on spotify
made to be listened to in order, this playlist explores three arcs of a roman/mencken relationship, using only low-fi songs written between 1994-2003 by The Mountain Goats. the story is told primarily through roman's POV, with one song from someone else's perspective.
♡ the track order + the repeated song are intentional. if you listen, i'd love to know if you understand the story, if you see where the arcs start and stop, and your thoughts on the whole thing ♡
[TRACK 01] - QUETZALCOATL IS BORN [TRACK 02] - ALPHA INCIPIENS [TRACK 03] - GOING TO MAINE [TRACK 04] - GOLDEN BOY [TRACK 05] - GOING TO PORT WASHINGTON [TRACK 06] - BAD PRIESTESS [TRACK 07] - ORANGE BALL OF LOVE [TRACK 08] - GOING TO MAILBU [TRACK 09] - SENDERO LUMINOSO VERDADERO [TRACK 10] - FLASHING LIGHTS [TRACK 11] - STANDARD BITTER LOVE SONG #7 [TRACK 12] - ALPHA SUN HAT [TRACK 13] - FLIGHT 717: GOING TO DENMARK [TRACK 14] - ALPHA RATS NEST [TRACK 15] - GOING TO MAINE
[1] the mixtape art is a painting called "summer loving" by cecily brown, which i recently saw at the san diego musuem of art
[2] as i was (self)-constrained by only low-fi tmg songs, not every song is literal! some are though. which is which is for me to know and for you to find out.

me last night: (offhand joke about pokemon teams in kiseki)
me tonight, balls-deep in a story: so help me god --
@bunni-bun and @nibupei are permanently ON NOTICE.
(just an unedited snippet for now.)
Chen Yi didn’t quite understand how he caught the Deoxys — he wasn’t seeking one out; he wasn’t even really looking to add a sixth Pokemon to his team when he already had his hands full juggling five others on top of school, the family business, and, of course, Ai Di.
Ai Di was nearly a job in and of himself. He had just turned ten, which in his mind was most of the way to adulthood, and it was all that Chen Yi could do to keep him on the rails. Nearly every day, he had to drag Ai Di away from Pokemon battles on school grounds — his team was still green, only two strong, and Ai Di had earned their immense loyalty but was less capable at controlling their vicious tempers. Chen Yi had needed to get good at dodging acid attacks from Ai Di’s Bellsprout and sweeping up dirt from his Oddish, who he suspected was deliberately making a mess just to be antagonistic.
He was at what Chen Dong Yang called a ‘difficult age,’ a charitable way of calling him a pain in Chen Yi’s backside. He was, of course, Chen Yi’s responsibility, because Chen Dong Yang was too busy with the running of Yiyun Meng to look after an extra child, and Ai Di usually did the opposite of what Chen Dong Yang said anyway. Chen Yi could get him to listen sometimes, but those times seemed to happen with less and less frequency these days.
So walking in the door with a Deoxys was the last thing he wanted to do on a Thursday afternoon. He was already consumed with thoughts of math tests and a history presentation and how to get Ai Di to school in the morning without drawing too much blood, and then it — well, Chen Yi wasn’t sure how it had happened. He didn’t remember encountering the Deoxys; none of his Pokemon were strong enough to counteract one so powerful; and yet there he was, coming home with it hovering a few inches off the ground right behind him and occasionally emitting an unsettling, machine-like sound.
‘Are you mine now?’ he said. ‘Are you staying?’
The Deoxys made another sound Chen Yi couldn’t interpret. His Swoobat chittered a bit. The others were peacefully napping in their Pokeballs, so whatever their opinions were on the matter, he wasn’t sure.
‘I don’t know if I can keep you,’ Chen Yi said. The Deoxys was a little taller than him, and it kept waving its long, thin arms at him in a way Chen Yi couldn’t determine was comforting or terrifying. Its eyes were sharp and perceptive.
He tried again. ‘Are you looking for something?’
The Deoxys looked at him and was silent.
‘I don’t know how to care for you,’ Chen Yi said, and his Swoobat divebombed at him with an irritated sound, plucking at the straps of his backpack. It reminded him, as it often did, of Ai Di — small, insistent, and sometimes a bit of a nuisance, but it had been the first Pokemon he’d caught and he was as attached to it as he was to Ai Di.
His backpack started sliding off his shoulders without warning. ‘Hey!’ Chen Yi protested, twisting around, only to have it slide off completely and open of its own accord. He watched a pocket zip open and his Pokedex float upwards and hover in midair. The Deoxys looked at him pointedly and gestured at the Pokedex with one of its — arms? Tentacles? Chen Yi wasn’t sure what to think of them as.
‘You’re a space virus,’ Chen Yi read aloud from his Pokedex. ‘And you have psychokinetic powers.’ He swore that the Deoxys looked a bit smug about that piece of information. ‘But what do you want with me?’
His Swoobat flew up to the Deoxys — for such a tiny Pokemon, it truly had no fear — and peered at it. After a few moments of examination, he returned to Chen Yi’s shoulder and dug its little claws into his shirt. ‘Don’t do that. You’ll put holes in it,’ Chen Yi scolded him, only to have his Swoobat ignore him as usual.
‘Are you hurt?’ he asked the Deoxys. ‘Do you need to show me something?’
No reaction. The Deoxys just kept watching him with that same inscrutable expression.
‘I have to go home,’ Chen Yi told it, pointing in the direction of the shop. This was a mistake; the Deoxys just immediately began floating in that direction. ‘No! No. That’s my home. Not yours.’
He found out then that the Pokedex was not the only thing the Deoxys could control, and he nearly lost his balance as it nudged him to follow. Every time he stopped or lagged behind, it made sure he kept going.
Well, it couldn’t be helped. The Deoxys, for whatever reason was there and had clearly become fond of him and wasn’t planning on disappearing, and Chen Yi needed to do his homework. He also needed to check in on Ai Di, who had begged off school that morning due to a stomach bug. Chen Yi was reasonably sure the stomach bug was a lie, but Ai Di had locked himself in the bathroom and refused to emerge while his Bellsprout and Oddish stood sentry at the door until Chen Yi had to rush to school to avoid being late.
An Arcanine was snoring lightly at the entrance of the shop. When it heard Chen Yi approaching, it woke up and shook itself before noticing the Deoxys and summarily bolting inside.
‘Don’t upset anybody,’ Chen Yi told the Deoxys. He wasn’t sure if that would do much good with a space virus with a mind of its own, but he would at least try.
The Deoxys, of course, just looked at him and floated after the Arcanine. Chen Yi heard Xin Hao shout in surprise, and he ran in.
Xin Hao looked flabbergasted. Next to him, Qi Xian was trying to comfort his anxious Arcanine.
‘Where did that come from?’ Xin Hao spluttered.
‘It followed me home,’ said Chen Yi, which was the truth. He felt a sudden protectiveness about the Deoxys, which was just floating about looking at its surroundings and occasionally making its odd whir. It wasn’t quite like any of the other Pokemon he had ever encountered; it had a strange, powerful energy he couldn’t quite describe.
‘His little bat isn’t scared of it,’ Qi Xian pointed out. This was true; Chen Yi’s Swoobat was fluttering around the Deoxys and chirping happily.
A door slammed and footsteps stomped. ‘I thought you were sick,’ Xin Hao said, just as a murderous Ai Di appeared at Chen Yi’s elbow. His Oddish and Bellsprout clustered at his feet.
‘Whatever,’ said Ai Di. He looked at Chen Yi, then at the Deoxys, then back at Chen Yi. ‘Is he yours?’
‘Yes,’ said Chen Yi. ‘I think.’
Ai Di thought for a moment, then kicked Chen Yi in the shin. ‘You’re the worst.’ Before Chen Yi could even react to that one, Ai Di stormed back to his room, Pokemon toddling behind him, and slammed the door.
The Deoxys floated off towards Ai Di’s room. ‘Don’t — ‘ Chen Yi scrambled towards it, and the Deoxys turned, its tentacles twitching questioningly. It tilted its head at him. ‘Go sit down, or — ‘ He stopped himself before he could mention a Pokeball. Would a Deoxys be willing to go in the Pokeball? Would this specific Deoxys? ‘Just stay there and don’t do anything.’
He could hear Xin Hao and Qi Xian laughing in the background as he headed for Ai Di’s room. He had to check behind him to ensure that Deoxys wasn’t following him, which it wasn’t, but he was stymied at Ai Di’s door by a glaring Oddish and a Bellsprout that was clearly gearing to hit him with its worst.
‘Ai Di?’ he called from a safe distance. Ai Di’s Bellsprout looked as though it was considering launching itself at his throat anyway.
‘Fuck off,’ Ai Di suggested from behind the door. Chen Yi sighed. Ai Di’s filthy mouth had been getting him into trouble at school so often that Chen Yi had been trying to train him out of profanity, but it wasn’t going well.
‘I just want to explain what happened.’
There was a thump of something hitting the door. ‘Go away and fall in a hole. I hate you.’
‘I didn’t look for the Deoxys,’ Chen Yi said. ‘It just showed up and now it won’t leave me alone.’
‘You’re so special,’ Ai Di shouted from the bedroom. ’The special-est.’
Ai Di’s Bellsprout took a moment then to jab him in the leg — the same one Ai Di had just kicked him in. Its effects were immediate; Chen Yi felt the sensation go out of his calf and went a little woozy. He leaned awkwardly against the wall to brace himself. It wasn’t the first time he’d been poisoned by Ai Di’s Bellsprout, of course. It didn’t happen every time he got jabbed, but the chance was always there. Still, Ai Di’s Bellsprout could only do so much damage. At its worst, it sent him to puke his guts out for a few hours or thrash about with a fever for a day. It wasn’t exactly enjoyable, and he tried to avoid it as much as possible, but he supposed he was fortunate it couldn’t kill him.
He saw the Deoxys’ orange tentacle out of the corner of his eye, and he shouted, ‘Leave them alone!’
Ai Di yanked his bedroom door open so hard Chen Yi thought he’d rip it off the hinges. ‘If your stupid — thing or whatever it is does anything to my Pokemon — ‘
Chen Yi tried to situate himself between Ai Di and the Deoxys, which unfortunately required him to hop on one leg and try to maintain his balance while his other leg dragged limp and useless. ‘No one is doing anything to your Pokemon, and you’re not doing anything to mine. Got it?’
‘I hope your stupid Pokemon eats you,’ said Ai Di venomously, slamming the door again.
Did Deoxys eat people? Chen Yi wasn’t sure. He didn’t think it even had a mouth. Did viruses need to eat? ‘Come on,’ he said to the Deoxys. ‘Ai Di wants us to leave him alone.’
‘And don’t come back!’ Ai Di shouted.
Deoxys watched him hop along slowly for a moment, and then Chen Yi felt himself rising up off the ground a few inches. ‘I’d prefer not to float,’ he said, and Deoxys dropped him back down. Chen Yi’s numb leg promptly went out from under him, and he ended up a heap on the floor.
‘He’s upset again?’ Xin Hao called from across the shop. ‘Qi Xian, get him the antidote.’
The antidote had an astringent odor and its spray was harsh enough to make him cough, but Chen Yi could feel sensation slowly returning to his leg. ‘I wish you wouldn’t do that,’ he muttered to Ai Di’s closed door.

Oooh for Vanoe prompts, maybe “I got you” or “come home”? Or maybe “can I touch you?” ❤️ so many options in that list lol
Hiya friend 😊!!! AHHH Thank you SO much for this! I decided to pick only the first one for this since I got a little carried away, hope thats alright! So, here's 1.2k of unedited vanoé angst because I'm terrible... (AO3)
List of starter prompts
Tumblr media
“I got you.”
Noé lay, stomach down, arm dangling off the edge of the top balcony of the Sun Tower, gripping with all his strength to a stone pillar in his left arm and to his human with his right.
The fingers of a white glove were desperately and tightly knotted with the fingers of a black one.
“Do you hear me, Vanitas?” Noé yelled, trying to be reassuring, “I’ve got you, just hold on!” The vampire exasperatedly shouted down below to the human dangling by only his grasp.
“Noé…”
“No!” A gasp. Noé glanced to the jagged edges of the blue moon mark creeping up Vanitas’ neck, “no no NO I’ve got you!”
Bright blue eyes stared wide-eyed back into Noé’s desperate amethyst glare. “Chérie…” With a pained smirk, Vanitas gulped a shaken inhale and responded calmly, “I’m slipping.”
The startled shrieks from Parisians down below echoed upward in the wind. In the past, some had been unfortunate enough to see the occasional unfortunate soul jump from the great height of the Sun Tower, but no one had ever witnessed a man helplessly dangle from its apex. And especially not at the mercy of another.
With a fatigued gasp, Noé locked his ankles around the pillar to hold himself in place while he attempted to reach his other hand toward his friend. But his effort was stopped at the feeling of his wrist being grabbed.
“Hello, Noé, my boy.” A familiar voice boomed into Noé’s left ear.
Noé let out a frustrated grunt in unison with his futile attempt to free his hand from whatever was holding it back. When that failed, his neck strained to look up, eyes pleading with this person for help. His gaze only found the shadow of a large red-haired figure and a single golden eye staring him down. The other covered by an eye patch.
Noé growled, “Ruthven.”
Vanitas suddenly reached up to grab Noé with both hands. “Noé, let me go! And get out of here! Now!”
The snap of his head to look back down at his friend nearly tore a muscle in the vampire’s neck.
“But Vanita…” His shocked cry was interrupted.
“You do remember our little deal, don’t you?” Lord Ruthven spoke toward Noé once again.
Noé was furious but confused, “What are you talking about?”
Ruthven heartily cackled. “Ah no matter if you do remember or not. But it’s time to pay your debts… Chaton.”
“Noé, now!” Vanitas pleaded through pained breaths.
“No! I won’t ever let you go.” Noé strained to yell back, though it was hard to tell if his voice was struggling due to exhaustion or an attempt to hold back tears.
As much as Noé wanted to hang on, as much as his heart needed him to hang on to Vanitas, their grasp was becoming so very painful, and the fatigue was becoming unbearable. Especially as black nails started to dig into white gloves and pierce his skin, a splattering of red began to soak into their clasped hands. It was even harder now to hang on.
Nonetheless, with every ounce of strength still remaining, he kept grip of Vanitas’ hands with just one of his own.
“Noé,” Ruthven continued, still gripping Noé’s free hand, “I don’t think you have much choice. The astermite in your friend’s arm is about to consume and destroy his body. There is no hope for him now. But how fitting that you should depart from this world with him, don’t you think?”
And with that, Lord Ruthven was about to make good on his deal.
But not without Noé putting up a fight.
Noé screamed. The type of guttural scream that's caused by a sudden white hot stab of pain. A pain as if acid had been poured into his ears to eat away at his brain. As if his conscience was being ripped to atomic shreds from the inside. As if he were soon to cease to exist. And he was near helpless to fight back.
This must’ve been what Louis had felt. Like what all curse bearers felt. Alone, helpless, and in pain.
This malnomen was strong. But Noé was fighting back with all of his might. Though he was still screaming, writhing, and gripping Vanitas’ hand harder in agony, he shut his eyes trying to prevent the curse from taking hold of his body. But with his body well past exhaustion, it was seemingly pointless to prolong the inevitable.
This battle was over. Noé Archiviste was lost.
The irises in Noe’s eyes had disappeared and whites turned to jet black as the malnomen erased the amethysts.
“Non!” Vanitas’ heartstrings could not take any more of this as he yelled from below. He let one of his hands go from Noé’s and promptly reached down to his belt to wield his book one more time. “Luna…” he whispered to himself, “please… once more. Let me be strong. For him.”
Ruthven took a step back, possibly in hesitance, in hearing that name.
Taking the book in hand, the pages of the clockwork grimoire fluttered open like the wings of a blackbird on its last of countless flights. A flurry of blue light sparked from its obsidian pages and electrified the air. The small photons of light sped toward Noé’s uncontrolled figure and seemingly jolted him awake.
“Noé Archiviste,” Vanitas spoke softly, lulling Noé back. As soft, Noé remembered, as when the doctor had saved Lady Amelia from the briars of Eglantine. “I've got you.”
Vanitas continued, “Child of the ark,” he smiled, “Arsenal of knowledge and archive of memories.” He paused again. “Your name suits you well.”
A final explosion of light blasted Ruthven away from Noé knocking his head against a pillar. He was out for now.
The relief from the book provided clarity in Noé’s exhausted eyes and freedom from the cursed malnomen deal.
Vanitas hissed in pain. The blue mark on his arm had extended all the way to his face now.
Noé was relieved, his eyes slowly blinking back into focus. But in that relief came his mistake. Or Vanitas’ opportunity. Of whose fault it was is unknown.
“Noé!” Vanitas shouted, loud and sure, shaking his only hand free of Noé’s grasp as he softly smiled, “You don’t need my memories to remember me,” he confessed.
Noé tried to reach for Vanitas’ hand once again, but failed to clutch it.
Vanitas fell. His eyes trained on Noé until his last moment when the blue mark covered the last bit exposed skin on his face and he exploded into a cloud of bright blue ash.
The flowerbed below received a steady dusting from the ash and light watering from the eyes of the heartbroken vampire above overcome with grief.
The book of Vanitas, now freed, and truly dangerous character determined, landed on the ground with a thump into the flowerbed. Exactly where the asters met the forget-me-nots.
Noé made sure it was never opened again.
