“so who did you invite to come with us?” Riki asked you. You two were both waiting on a bench outside of the mall.

“you’ll see!” you say, a small smile on your face which causes Riki to playfully roll his eyes. For the next few minutes you two were just watching tiktoks on Riki’s phone.

“hey Y/N! sorry I’m late, I couldn’t find my wallet.” Kai says as he approaches the two of you. At the sight of Kai, Riki tenses up a bit. not enough for you to notice, but enough for him to feel uncomfortable.

“it’s alright, you don’t have to apologize. by the way, this is Riki! have you two met before?” you say as you stand up from the bench, dragging Riki up with you.

“no we’ve never met personally, though i have seen him around the company before. you’re from one of the newer groups, enhypen, right?” Kai says as he looks at Riki, which causes him to stop breathing for a split second.

“yeah, I am.” Riki says dryly, causing you to slap his arm. Riki only rolls his eyes at this and mutters a sorry to you Kai.

“so what were you two thinking of doing?” Kai says, removing his attention from Riki and onto you instead. A wide smile painting his face as he looks at you.

“oh we never really have specific plans when we hang out, we just walk around and go to places we think would be interesting…” you awkwardly chuckle, cringing at yourself for not preparing something to do as you knew this wouldn’t be like a normal hangout between you and Riki.

“thats fine, how about we go to that café across the street?” Kai suggests, pointing his thumb over his shoulder.

“I’m fine with that. ‘Ki, you down?” you ask Riki and he only nods his head. ‘huh… weird’ you think to yourself. Riki is usually very verbal around most anyone, especially you. it didn’t matter who else was there, as long as you were there he was even more talkative and social. so why’s this any different?

“alright, lets go!” Kai says with a smile as he leads the way to the café. the three of you enter the café and get inline. you and Kai were looking at the menu together, trying to figure out what to get. when you turn around to ask Riki what he thought, he was on his phone typing away. all he did was mutter a quiet “yeah, sure.” he didnt even look up at you.

you had just assumed Riki was playing a game or texting his friends. little did you know he was furiously spamming his twitter private with hate comments to Kai.

“so Y/N, what are you gonna get?” Kai asked you.

“I’ll get the-“ before you could finish your sentence Riki cut you off. “the strawberry cheesecake and a matcha latte.” he said in nonchalantly. you had begin to wonder why Riki was acting this way, you hadn’t seen him act like this before.

“yeah, what he said.” you confirmed with a smile on your face. Kai seemed a bit stunned that Riki had known your order already as you had told him you’d never been here before.

“are you sure you two haven’t been here before?” Kai jokes, trying to lighten the slightly tense vibe.

“ah, no we havent been here before. i just almost always get the same thing at every café and i usually make him order for me so he basically knows my order by heart.” you explain happily as Kai laughs.

“alright well I’ll order for all of us this time. Niki, what do you want?” Kai asks, trying to be nice to Riki.

“just a strawberry cheesecake.” he says dryly once again, before taking his phone out of his pocket to watch some videos on social media.

“okay… I’ll be right back, you two go find somewhere to sit.” Kai says awkwardly as he rubs the back of his neck. “alright, come on ‘Ki.” you said, grabbing Riki’s hand and dragging him with you.

As Riki sits down, you immediately sit down next to him. You then snatch his phone out of his hand, causing him to look at you with widened eyes. “what is with you ‘Ki? ever since Kai got here you’ve been acting all emo.” Riki’s jaw clenches and gaze hardens at the mention of his name.

“its nothing, don’t worry about it.” he says, looking away from you.

“its clearly not ‘nothing’. if it were nothing you wouldnt be acting this way. do you not like him or something?” Riki can only help but sigh at your comment. he was about to speak up until Kai came over to the table.

“here we go!” he said happily as he placed down the treats, sitting beside you.

“oh thank you Kai!” you thank him, nudging the boy beside you, trying to get him to do the same.

“thanks.” Riki says in a rather harsh tone, his jaw still clenches, his hand clenched into a fist under the table and his eyes showing jealously, hatred and annoyance towards the boy who is sitting in your other side.

“you’re welcome… lets eat?” Kai chuckles nervously, not quite sure what he did to anger the boy.

“so Kai, whats it like being in TXT?” you ask, trying to lighten the mood.

“it’s fun! since we’re a smaller group we’re all really close and our shoots go a lot faster, not that being in a bigger group is bad or anything!”

“oh that makes sense! whenever i go to shoots with Niki and Sunghoon it always takes a while, honestly after a while i start to fall asleep!” you and Kai laugh. you didn’t notice, but Kai has been staring at you a lot today. a bit too much for Riki’s liking. as you eat your cheesecake, Kai continues to stare at your body you. Riki sighs, taking out his phone to type something.

he then places his phone down on the table and starts to take off his jacket. once he has it off, he drapes it gently over your shoulders. when you look at him a bit confused, all he did was mutter something along the lines of “just wear it.” you gave him a skeptical okay look and put your arms through the sleeves.

“Y/N we have to go.” Riki says as quickly shoves his phone into his pocket and grabs your drink in one hand and your arm in the other, causing you to stand up and drags you out of the café without explanation, leaving Kai sitting there alone and stunned.

“Riki what the hell?!” you yell angrily as he drags you down the sidewalk and towards the bus stop. “Riki what the hell was that?!” you yelled again, only to get no response. you try to pry your arm out of his tight grip but he doesn’t let go, finally once you make it to the bus stop you’re able to pry your arm out. “Riki answer me! what the fuck was that?!” your gaze is harsh as you wait for an explanation.

“if you don’t answer me I’m going back to the café.” you say threateningly, Riki’s eyes widen and he sighs.

“he was staring at you.” he said, your eyes go wide and your angered face dropped in confusion.

“wait what?” you said, not comprehending what he just said.

“you made us leave because he was staring?” to which Riki nods his head.

“is that why you’re making me wear this?” you say, gesturing to the large jacket which you’re wearing, Riki nods his head again.

“Kai is my friend, I trust him and I don’t need to hovering over me just because I’m hanging out with another guy who isn’t you, and all he was doing was looking at me. and i mean you’re not going to be the only guy in my life forever.” you defend Kai as you become slightly angry again. Kai’s your friend, what right does Riki have to make assumptions about him?

“you don’t know that. he was looking at you too much. I’m a guy Y/N, I know how we think and I can tell by the way he was looking at you that its anything but saint. I’m doing this to protect you, Y/N. I wouldn’t be able to live knowing that I let you hang out with some guy who could have ill intentions and that I didn’t do anything to stop it. I promised I’d keep you safe so I’m doing exactly that. now can we please just go home?” Riki says. as you let his words set in, your angered face drops and your eyes soften. without another word, you come crashing into his chest, your arms wrapped around him tightly.

“thank you ‘Ki. I don’t know what I’d do without you. I’m sorry for getting angry.” you feel the regret setting in, you don’t know why you got made at him, he’s never done anything to hurt you.

“It’s not your fault Y/N,, its my job as your best friend to protect you. I know you liked hanging out with him, but i can’t trust him around you.” he says, wrapping his arms securely around you while gently resting his chin atop your head.

“lets just go home, we can talk about it more some other time.” you say into his chest and you hear him say a soft okay.

when the bus arrives, he lets you get on first. you slide into the window seat and rested your head on his shoulder once he had sat down beside you. you watch as he takes out his phone and unlocks it, you smile softly as you see him enter his password. your birthday, his password is your birthday. you see him tap on his messages with your brother and type in “we’re on our way home rn and we’ll be there in like 10 minutes or so.”

after 10 minutes you two had arrived home. you two step into the house and slip off your shoes. “we’re home!” you yell as the two of you make your way to the living room, where your brother was waiting for you.

“you guys are back a bit earlier than I thought, so how’d it go?” Sunghoon asks with a sly smirk on his face, you make a bit of a confused face then turn to Riki, who is looking away from you.

“it was fine, nothing happened we just got bored and decided to come home.” you say as you go sit down on the couch next to him, Riki immediately following after you.

“oh yeah? is that why you’re wearing Niki’s jacket? he smirks again. you and Riki only look at each other.

“I wear his clothes all the time!” you try to defend yourself.

“yeah yeah whatever, go change so you can give him back his clothes. you already have like what, half his wardrobe in your closet?” Sunghoon teases as he shoos you away.

the two boys sit in silence while they listen to you walking up the stairs, only speaking again once they hear your bedroom door close.

“so, what’d you think of Kai?” Sunghoon snickers as he hears Riki groan.

“I hated him, i’m not letting him see her ever again.” Riki complains, throwing his head back in annoyance while Sunghoon just laughs at him.

“oh yeah? why not?” Sunghoon teases.

“oh shut up i don’t have to explain.”

“well thats too bad, cause i was thinking about letting them hang out again.” Sunghoon jokes.

“you wouldn’t dare.” Riki says sarcastically, knowing Sunghoon was only joking.

“oh but i would. i mean why do you care? you jealous, nishimura?” sunghoon teases, only to get no response.

“so you are jealous!” Sunghoon slams his hand down onto the seat, his eyes wide with excitement.

“i’m not jealous.” the taller boy said calmly, with a small smile spread across his face. Sunghoon noticed this and took it as the perfect chance to “tease” the younger once again.

“you like her, don’t you??” sunghoon says with a wide smile and teasing eyes as he takes a sip of your drink which Riki had placed down on the table.

“yeah, I do.”

Kinger fluff alphabet! the whole thing!

two things one is more so one of my personal woe things unrelated to you but i deleted my masterlist immediately after finishing it because i didnt like the layout of it; 3 hours down the drain SOBS other thing! imma go ahead and link the other fluff alphabet stuff so its a complete list! actually third surprise thing, WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME I ACCIDENTALLY FORGOT TO PUT P IN THE FLUFF ALPHABET/lh/nm i fixed it now but i cant believe i skipped a letter i feel so dumb

ABSTRACT- if you were to ever abstract he would probably abstract himself. i mean if the things about queener/queenie are true and they were close, then that would mean this guy would lose a loved one TWICE. that would most definitely break someone, and kinger is already on the edge as it is. if he somehow doesnt abstract, he probably becomes even more paranoid; kind of shutting everyone out almost because he sure as hell knows he cant take a third heartbreak. rarely ever leaves his pillow fort, unless hes physically dragged out? sometimes he forgets you're gone, because he just refuses to believe the truth. sad stuff

BONDING- will rattle on and on about cool bug facts, if he has his own collection in his room he will show you it! maybe, if you want, he will let you hold some of the critters! tells a lot of stories, nicer ones from when things in the circus arent so... bad.. usually when hes in a good headspace! you get the feeling he embellishes his stories... not too different from a grandfather trying to make his experiences seem more glamorous and action packed than they really were

CUDDLING- he is very hard, due to him being a chess piece, but his clothes do a really good job at softening him! no arms :(... usually rests his hands on your back, or maybe has one on your shoulder and the other on your hip. switches between being big and little spoon, sometimes he wants to hold and sometimes he wants to be held

DATES- you can find them here!

EMOTION- kinger is... odd... im not sure where he lies, because i think sometimes he does have moments where he remembers thing and it overwhelms him, so that may be the main time hes the emotional one. however, i guess this entire time for emotional ive been focusing on more.. 'bad' emotions, but i think kinger would gush about how much he loves you, like WOAH! he is just overflowing with feelings right now

FAMILY- honestly he gives me dad vibes, if this dude doesnt already have kids in the real world (wow thats a sad thought... dude is like MIA probably and his kids are left to wonder where he went. double owie if queener/queenie was his real life wife before things happened) so if you guys make it back to the real world and unite, you're gonna be a step parent! would he like to have more kids with you? i think it depends, he would want it, though!

GIFT- you know how some people put bugs in like, cases to preserve them or something? i feel like he would give you those with some of his prettier bugs! loves anything you give him, he always keeps them stored safe in his room!

HARSH- you guys dont really get into arguments, i dont think! kinger doesnt like hiding things from you unless its something deeply personal, but otherwise hes an open book to you

IN HOUSE ADVENTURE- here!

JEALOUSY- its not so much as him being jealous as it is him being paranoid that something is going to happen to him or you, so! even if he wasnt worrying himself half to death he doesnt exactly seem like the jealous type to me, tbh

KISS- its time for my favorite thing for characters with no mouth!!! he boinks his face into yours, i actually wrote something for this! not gonna link it since its so short and i can easily relay the idea: but he would internally hype himself up (usually does this if this is the beginning of the relationship, he gets more confident as time goes on!), and just lightly 'pecks' your cheek before pulling away. loves kissing your cheeks as well as the back of your hands. loves being kisses where his mouth would be as well as his cheeks

LOVE LANGUAGE- quality time!! this man follows you around like a love sick puppy, because he loves you so much but also because again, he worries.. he also likes doing acts of service for you, makes him feel like hes capable of doing things on his own (which he is!). loves it when you return the favor via words of affirmation

MENDED- is he dreaming? is he imagining things again?

nope, its really you. somehow, you've recovered from abstracting, and you're now out of the cellar. he wants to hold you and never ever ever let you go, out of fear that hes going to come to his senses any second and youll be gone. wants to keep you in the pillow fort with him, or at least within his line of sight

NO- its less of an active dealbreaker and more of a "hey this is going to stress him out and probably hurt his mental health" but like, i dont think he would pair well with a really really intense person. like sure caien is pretty intense, but its not like caine is going to be spending a significant amount of time with him everyday, but like. you know? like i talk about some characters enjoying being on their toes and left guessing in regards to their partner, but kinger is NOT one of those people. he needs stability

PDA- less of a case where he actively and knowingly indulges in PDA and more so a case where he subconsciously holds onto your hand to keep you at arms length and to feel you. due to his lack of arms he has probably wandered off without you (and his hand) at least once. is not opposed to PDA, though, so long as its not like. insane

QUIET TIME- quiet time between the two of you is very rare. sure kinger can be very quiet when hes alone, but when hes alone with someone else, someone he cares so much about.. he cant help but fill the silence with words, to keep the ringing in his ears at bay .. so really quiet time is talking time

ROSES- ill mention it again in V (i wrote v before this section), he loves giving you roses especially on special occations! loves receiving flowers as well, he seems like a rose kind of guy as well

SHH- the one thing he doesnt like talking about is queener/queenie, well, more so the last few days leading up to her abstraction. it brings up. well, memories. on one hand he doesnt want to forget her, but on the other hand he doesnt want to bare the pain of those terrible memories

TUNES- THIS THIS THIS THIS ONE ALWAYS COME TO MY HEAD WHEN I THINK OF ROMANTIC HCS FOR SWEETIDEAS FOR OLDER GUYS IDK WHY

UPSET- im going back and forth with a lot of these as i fill in the list so! tying this in with E, i mention one of the only times he gets emotional is when he remembers some unfortunate events that took place in the circus. you're going to need to console him and bring him back to the present moment :(. when you're upset he tries to distract you, takes you to his fort, and tells you stories

VALENTINE- on the chance that he remembers what day it is, hes going to give you the most sterotypical date he can give to you. i think it might be because i can kind of see kinger as like, a classic/stereotypical romantic when it comes to you. flowers, he cant take you out to dinner so he takes you out to the digital lake to gaze at the clouds and watch the bugs pass

WANT- he wants a companion, he wants stability, and thats something he needs. he wants someone to be compassionate about him, his wellbeing, and his interests

ZZZ- if you guys go to sleep together its always in his room, where hes more comfortable. he also has a thing where he insists on being the one closer to the door; almost as if hes offering himself as protection to you should someone unwanted to come in. huh. always sleep holding onto you, snores like a dad

You were quite new in the protocol, you joined right after neon, so only 2 more people joined after you. You pretty much got along with everyone there, even being tolerated by viper and reyna. (you think reyna only didnt hate your guts because you were a radiant)

though you did like to hang out with neon, raze, jett and phoenix a lot. Those 4 you seemed to mesh really well with, very loud and outgoing people. Which is why it was such a shock when another agent joined.

“Everyone this is gekko, The new guy who will be joining you guys on missions, make sure to treat him well.”

Brim said sternly, while gekko just gave a bit of a goofy wave. It was love at first site.

“he’s so fine omg.”

“i know…”

you and neon whispered to each other. You couldn’t take your eyes off him, he was just so different to most the people here, he looked more relaxed and chill. Sage then took him off to show his room.

“yo (y/n) you should get to know him, he looks so cool.”

neon said with a sly smile.

“honestly I will.”

reyna looked over to you and neon and just rolled her eyes muttering ‘kids’ under her breath before walking away.

you decided to leave him alone for a bit just for him to get settled in. Sitting in the common room you switch through channels trying to find something interesting to watch. However you didn’t have to wait for long to talk to the new guy.

“hey you’re (agent name) right? sage told me your name by the way. im not a stalker or anything!”

he said putting his hands up defensively with a small smile.

“oh hey! yeah I’m (agent name) but you can call me (y/n), I don’t keep my name a secret here. It’s nice to meet you! are you liking it here?”

“yeah it’s super chill, i’m loving the vibe here. my name is mateo by the way”

he says as he sits near you on the couch.

“anything i can help you with? or did you just want to talk to me?”

you say in a teasing tone, causing his cheeks to go slightly pink.

“oh yeah i was actually wondering if you knew any places to eat around here? specifically chinese im really in the mood for that right now! But i also wanted to talk to you!”

he again said defensively.

“oh yeah i know a shit ton. you want me to go with you or just give you directions?”

“oh sí that would be great if you came along, you could help me order!”

“okay let me just go put on some shoes”

you and gekko went off to a near by street that had many food places, on the way you engaged with the usual first meeting talk like ‘how old are you?’ ‘favourite colour?’’where you from’ just the normal stuff. You got to the food place and decided to eat it there instead of takeaway. it was a small place, a family owned business. it was quaint

“so (y/n) what do you plan to get?”

“hmmm i’ll go with this one”

you point to your usual oder on the menu.

“i’ll get that too!”

you and gekko order and just keep talking. its nice, he’s really nice, and chill, and good looking and you’re staring at him again.

“so you wanna tell me about the people we work with? por favour.”

“oh yeah okay so, everyone’s really nice. Maybe not viper and reyna but they’re nice deep down… i think.

“ohhh reyna is actually the one who trains me!”

“really?! that’s cool as. Omen was the one who trained me when i first arrived. but anyway, keep your eardrums safe around raze she can be a bit loud.”

“veo, veo.”

you two keep discussing everyone until your food arrives.

“woah this looks good as, great pick (y/n)!”

“yeah, also i’ll pay for you if you want. I got spare cash”

“really! thats so nice!! gracias!”

eventually you get back, completely stuffed from the food.

“yo (y/n)! Gekko! you’re back. You guys want to watch a movie with me, raze, killjoy, sage, jett and omen?”

neon asked as soon as you walked through the door.

“yeah im down, what about you (y/n)?”

“yeah same! what movie are we watching?”

“a horror! its going to be so fun, just come to the common room when you’re ready.”

neon says before sprinting away. You look over to gekko and see him slightly frozen.

“you scared of horror movies or something?”

gekko nods his head slightly.

“don’t worry you can grab onto my arm if you get scared!”

gekko blushed a little at this.

“haha thank you (y/n)…”

the two of you walk to the common area and the movie starts. Everyone is sat in twos, Killjoy and raze, omen and sage, jett and neon.

the movie starts out well not too many scares but then the first jump scare happens. Making neon and Gekko jump

“oh shit!”

he says as he grabs onto your arm.

“sorry, didn’t mean to grab onto you.”

“its alright mateo-“

“shhhh!”

jett shushes the both of you.

the movie continues. With gekko basically clinging onto you for dear life. so like a good person you rub his back for him to clam down. he shivers at your touch. The movie ends, and killjoy and raze are giggling to themselves about how bad it was. omen and sage thank everyone for watching the movie as they walk to go do their own thing. while jett is comforting neon.

“neon it wasn’t that bad!”

“yes it was jett! what if that weird thing is going to come for me!!”

“come on lets go get you some water…”

which leaves you and gekko alone.

“you feeling alright?”

you ask him concerned.

“yep… yep. i’m alright. Man how do you not get scared?!”

you just shrug your shoulders.

“anyway i’m going to get ready for bed. If you get scared i don’t mind you waking me up or anything. I’m here for you.”

“okay, thanks for spending the day with me (y/n) it was really nice to get to know you!”

you leave.

ok guys i finished the poppy war wtf. i feel so hollow right now. i feel so... unsatisfied by the ending but not necessary in a bad way??? i have to read the other books and see what happens but at the same time it feels so hopeless and i dont approve of rin as a main character anymore (tho i am aware that it doesnt matter whether i "approve" of her or not) but i will still definitely read the other books bc i loved the book overall. i just think that the storyline rn is very... surreal?

i NEED TO KNOW what the fuck happened to nezha bc i just know that rf kuang has smtg cooking for him. my personal theory is that he didnt die from the gas bc he secretly is connected to the god of healing (hence why his spine healed so fast and enki speculated abt his dragon insigna) and so hes alive and maybe imprisoned? maybe he was sent to a science lab to, or he somehow ran away, or he pretended to join forces?? idrk but im sure that hes alive and its got to do with his dragon insignia

im so sad that everybody from sineguard died/isnt in the story anymore (other than kitayyyyyy thank god. im so glad he reappeared) bc i tbh dont feel much of an attachment toward the cike members 😭 like idk i love Qara and Chaghan but the others are eh to me, like i would trade their presence for Irjah's or Raban or Niang or EVEN JUN 😭 tho im just being sentimental, i dont actually mean it. (tho i would like to see a jun reappearance and redemption...)

oh btw i think i rate this a 4/5 star read

my criticisms are as such:

- the middle part where they kept losing was very dreary (tho i imagine kuang was trying to make it seem desperate/devastating and tense, it was just droll to read tbh).

- the sudden reconciliation between nezha and rin felt very unnatural (like i understand the feeling of "who cares abt our petty rivalry when theres literally a whole ass war happening?" but then again, this is just fiction and it wouldve been nice to read their familiar banter- or at least have it dragged out a bit before the reconciliation). i feel like it was just very unnatural, unless.... unless nezha fell in love with Rin when she erupted into flames at sineguard???? if THAT happened then i feel like the reconciliation would make alot more sense bc when nezha came to khurdalain it was like he was desperate to make Rin like him/forgive him ???

- a few things were pretty predictable. it was pretty obvious that Jiang was the gatekeeper, which was disappointing because if that was a little less obvious, i feel like the scene were Rin and Altam discover Jiang in the Stone Mountain would've had a bigger emotional impact on the reader (me)

though here are the things i liked:

- Rin at the first half of the book was the best mc everrrr

- Kitay. i have nothing wrong with Kitay. he's my favourite for sure

- Jiang's style of teaching (i loved how they just conversed and would come to nonsensical philosphical questions that made Rin frustrated but made Jiang delighted. eg "Why do people dream what they dream?")

- the way Kuang described the god realm vs the human realm. it was all very believable and assured. it wasn't vague at all, in my opinion. theres ofc alot of questions abt the different planes still, but the genius of it is that she wrote about it in a way that assured that it was normal to have questions, and even more normal to not get answers for them, and that we should just accept it (idk, thats the vibe i was getting. like, she didnt say "just believe it" as an excuse for lazy writing, she said "just believe it" because, well, just believe it.)

OKAY SO gonna preface this with this is a) very much a crack treated seriously sort of au and b) therefore not typically how I view the characters or relationships it was just fun to riff off of (aka i actually dont view stobin as having a sibling relationship normally and dont typically like secret sibling aus for a multitude of reasons)

WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY

the concept of the au was what if steve and robin were actually twins separated at birth (mid summer birthday can easily explain the different grades) but were both adopted bc their mom was part of a similar set of experiments to what el's mom was a part of, several years before hers happened. the experiment ends before their mom is far enough along for anyone to really notice, and so she is able to give her twins up for adoption without the lab realizing what they missed out on.

so steve and robin both lowkey grow up with powers they dont quite realize they have? think the skywalker twins in star wars, both had incredible force powers, were able to read people, do great feats, etc. but didn't have any idea of their force abilities until they were adults and someone else flat out told them. they wouldnt be using the abilities every day like the numbers are too, so they don't get that powerful either until they learn about them.

not sure if i ever decided for sure what their powers would be, i like steve with empathy and intuition bc he is just that good at reading people. i think while steves is more mental, robin is more physical, like psychometry in star wars where she can touch things and get skill/memory transfer, or impressions, etc. they both have some sort of healing factor and low-grade telekinesis (i think even with practice they wouldn't individually be able to compete with el there, tho maybe together mas y menos style???), steve just uses his healing factor more fidjgsihs

i think, like the skywalker twins, they also had something of a mind-link but initially they were in different towns and then in different social circles they didn't realize it. they were each others imaginary friends as kids, and they were drawn to each other as they got older but didnt know WHY. robin thought she was fixated because she was jealous but really was just picking up wild vibes, steve, esp pre-s1 steve, was picking up vibes and just ignored it as hard as possible.

they don't even realize something is up until they start spending actual time together at scoops and even then i dont think they really realize WHAT it is thats weird until they find out they have the same birthday and are like.... wait a minute. probably sometime during the russian drama. a lot of things come to light during the russian debacle that leaves them both very confused and they have a lot to deal with in the days afterwards

idk, its not my normal type of au like i said but i love the potential for dumb stobin shenanigans and i think arguably giving both of stobin powers is a terrible idea in the best way <3

people who say philip wittebane isnt interesting personality-wise are outta their minds like. him going through Smelly Ex-Puritan Redditor Who Loves To Appear Pathetic And In Pain (And Also Literally A Serial Killer) -> Ancient Barely-Human-Anymore Spiteful Bitch And A Cosmic Scammer pipeline is one thing, like thats the superficial Mess; where the fun really begins is when you look at how truly emotionally stunted he is i mean theres so much to unpack here... like hes old as balls and yet he never quite developed past the mindset of a 7 year old. like theres genuinely a developmental impact present of a shitty upbringing (im sure caleb did his best but being raised by yr older brother who was also a child who didnt know shit and probably experiencing a ton of horrible shit otherwise doesnt sound great) that philip never really did anything about, never addressed and never worked through. like hes just stuck in one place mentally and emotionally and goals-wise. and stuck recreating what he knew by doing the same thing over and over (creating clones of caleb) expecting different results. like the best he can do is yearn for the few things from his past that were good. he thinks of witch hunts like its a game hes playing and wants to be the specialest boy with the best score getting the coolest title Um Excuse Me Its Witch Hunter General.

(lmao the way he got to actually pretend to be a little kid in hollow mind, he was having SO much fun doing that. it came so naturally to him. really committed to the bit to the point where you wonder if its even a bit. the answer is no its not a bit although when it was time to be a big boy again and see the look on their faces that too was sooo fun to him. he TRULY was vibing in that episode like he was having SO much fun its horrible)

but those things were long ago and he has a skewed image of them and the way he recreates them is extremely imperfect too. he leans into his childish selfish urges without thinking. he wants the copies of caleb to be “improved” by which he means he wants them to be the caring, patient, protective caleb who always had time for him and who was endlessly dedicated to him (who, i speculate of course but, likely didnt even get to have a childhood of his own because he had to grow up fast to take care of everything and never really got to hang out with his peers - something that hunter’s experience is eerily similar to) that he remembers from his childhood. i mean we dont really know what caleb’s and philip’s entire Attitude Journey towards witches was exactly (yet) but what philip really murdered caleb for, at the core, was moving on and changing and trying to have a life and family of his own, becoming too different from the caleb he had cherished as a source of comfort as a child. caleb changed and grew up and developed aspects of his own life that philip had no access to, and philip couldnt handle that and destroyed him. and then tried to recreate him as exactly what he had wanted him to be. and failed time after time, because no matter how much he tried to prevent it, the grimwalkers too would be their own people and they too would develop into something he couldnt control. and because philip is emotionally 7 years old, he doesnt get it. to him its just a repeating nightmare of caleb Abandoning Him, not something that just like, is part of being a person

and the fucking. shitass little family he created for himself. himself, the collector, and the grimwalker. whichever grimwalker it was at the time. one of so many. himself, his Loyal Not-Brother Whos Always There For Him, and the collector who is his buddy who is also perpetually stuck being a child (i am THINKING about how well they had to have gotten along, i mean they seem very fond of each other up until the betrayal (which again doesnt negate anything, philip is perfectly capable of just throwing people out like hes discarding toys even when he used to be super fond of them. You Know, Like A Child), they had to have been VIBING, im super fascinated by this tbh and wonder if the collector ever got to see philip being childish silly and goofy. we as viewers even get to see bits and moments of philip being childish silly playful and trifling and im like imagining philip just allowing himself to be that all he wants around the collector because Theyre Both Eternal Children). like its literally kid philip’s idea of a perfect family. just he and his eternal buddy and his eternal parentsibling. both being toys he can then discard, or in the case of the grimwalkers abuse and then destroy. Shit Ass Little Family For A Shit Ass Little (6′8 tall) Loser

he doesnt do anything for religious reasons and hes not shown to be bigoted except for his hatred of witches - its like he doesnt get it and never did, because no matter the circumstances children arent born believing what the people around them do, they learn and internalize it from their environment, and he and caleb only really had each other it seems and just kind of observed adults from far away, so what philip Did internalize was this distant idea of witch hunts being something totally cool that earned you ranks and being important and Protected Humanity (also a very nebulous concept). like all of that was abstract and nebulous enough that caleb being the more mature of the two upon actually meeting witches and getting to see the demon realm immediately understands theres nothing to fear or hate and its a beautiful rich world and he can be one of them and start a life there

philip knows how to win games, he knows how to survive no matter what, he knows how to earn sympathy from people, he knows how to lie and steal, he knows how to destroy things and toss them away and take them apart and put them back together. he knows how to run an empire based on arbitrary rules he invented to play into his bigger scheme and final plan. he doesnt know how to have anything genuine without ruining it. he doesnt know how to avoid being an unbelievably cruel creepy sleazy ridiculous insufferable BEAST

like at the end of the day he did this to himself (the imagery of him gradually losing humanity and basically just wearing a person suit to hide that hes pretty much a semi-solid at best is awesome too), and he lost and is in an absolutely pathetic state now all because of his own actions, he ruined COUNTLESS lives; but theres also like, consideration given to how he became this way, how it was a combination of things he couldnt help and growing up in an environment that was cruel and didnt allow him to develop properly - but how that too was not impossible to overcome, and we get proof of that in the show, and he failed to overcome it largely due to his own decisions - and his own actions he committed with full awareness and premeditation. like hes so much more than “villain who is a product of his time” and so much more than “villain who doesnt know any better because Tragic Backstory” and so much more than “villain who is just evil because he is”. hes a great villain ok. so far the most compelling and interesting ive seen in this type of media. icon and legend. invented being horrible. a petri dish of a person, designed to be studied in a lab. cant stand her fake ass *10 seconds later* me and the bestie

Made a BUNCH of arts/comics/fanfics of the two gay creatures... in what reason? FOR GIVING ME IDEAS FROM THEIR DYNAMIC AS THE OPTIMISSTIC/PESSIMISTIC SUN/MOON. I CRY AND BLEED FOR IT.

Ahem- in any other reasons, this ship changed my life FOREVER. As in like EVER AT ALL. I made like 20+ comics in traditional with 200 pages with my ugly ass artstyle. And in Digital with 23 separate comics and maybe about 80+ pages? Im not quite sure.

I published 20 stories (OLD FICS) that were about the ship and 2 stories (18 if separate) as two different ships

It was fun staying. I loved staying there until it got a bit toxic from my space in a personal issue.

But I'm good now ^^ just don't draw alot of it nowadays.

They motivated me to go watch the season. And so I did. I binge watched the WHOLE SEASONS.

I've had SO- MANY... content creations from the ship of SpicyNoodles BACK WHEN TIKTOK was the mostly place I hang around. I got a bit influenced ever since I hear audios that give out their vibes and thats where I started a lil bit of animation even tho it was a bit lazy-

I hundred percent sure that I hyperfixated about their whole relationship with eachother. Yes.

I kind of well abandoned the channel now so uhh yeaaaaaaa???????? (I made it to 4k followers but didnt made a special animatic about it I'm so lovely.)

But I still do observe and keep notified on what would be the upcoming season 5 will be... I'll stay on TUNED for that once it releases...

And so you have these two :33 cough. But now that I have this account now, I am no longer active much working with two so I RARELY post there anymore. (I'd have to apologize for the people I promised making an animatic for... aaaaaa-)

Hihihi i saw your reblog about calcium cat recently and... thank you for that! It was eye opening and confirmed some suspicions i had... and im sorry you dont have to post this ask if you dont want to, i just didnt know where else to go. I don't use tumblr often, very sorry if i am bothering you!

So, i used to be a big fan of calcium cat's, and when i learned from your reblog that she's not someone i want to associate myself with, i remembered that she and topazshadowwolf (someone who wrote some Dadmare and Soriel fics that I liked, i think they're well known in the community but im not sure?) were affiliated with one another, and topazshadowwolf has these two posts on their blog that arent outright queerphobic like calcium cat's posts. i wanted to see what your thoughts were on it as a second opinion because i dont want to judge them too hard, but i also got an icky feeling from these posts that i can't really explain. The first thing that strikes me as off is the fact that Cal commented on the ask linked in the first post you provided. Don't like that. Openly associating with someone who has been outed as an immensely bigoted trans/homophobe is.... not a good look.

However, in regards to that ask, I agree with some of what they were saying. School is a time to play at discovery, because you rarely remain who you were as a child. It's not a definitive thing. You can be adamant that you're one way in school, and once you leave it an broaden your horizons, you discover that you're another way. This ranges anything from sexualities, gender expression, to religion and belief systems. People grow and change.

As an aside, I don't agree that NM wouldn't support them if they claimed to be different from how they are as adults and wouldn't support them. No context given, but I assume the boys don't remember being adults. This means their growing experiences will be fundamentally different than they were as former adults because they are going through their childhood/adolescence in a wildly different way than they did underground. So constricting them to such a narrow scope seems... disingenuous at best.

Seems a might bit narrow-minded, but I wouldn't go screaming "transphobia" yet. Don't like the "if you feel like I disrespected you, leave" though. The correct response is to ask what you did that made someone feel that way.

Worthy of a side-eye, but unless someone presents solid proof (as with Cal's very damning twitter likes, yuck), bad vibes shouldn't be enough to try to cancel someone. I try to give the benefit of the doubt. I sincerely hope my general faith here is not misplaced.

I’m sort of still getting into punk and learning about everything. You’re blog has been really helpful with resources and everything. Plus your cool.

Okayyy, now my question. I’m a junior in high school and I want to go to college. Pursue further education and all of that stuff. Learn more about the world and critical thinking. But I don’t want to pay a ton of money to a bunch of old ivy dudes.

What’s the right direction to go in for this? Is college a good option if I want to learn? What schools are good places? Where do I learn more about this stuff?

First off, Im going to stress that you are a junior and you have PLENTY of time to think about this. So dont stress too much right now.

Secondly, I want to preface this with the simple fact of college isnt for everyone. There are SO many ways to survive and thrive in life without it. And thats okay, good even! That being said, this post is just gonna be me talking about college. Under the cut of course

OKAY! So, is college a good option if you want to learn? My answer is yes! I learned a lot at college, both inside and outside my classes. I learned a lot of life lessons, I met people from all over the country (and a few international students). And I learned how to challenge my own beliefs and try to see things from perspectives that I didnt even know could exist prior to college.

But Im sure you were referring to the educational aspect. And truth be told, this heavily depends on both your school and you. Some examples: My school had a phenomenal chemistry program. You couldnt walk out of that program without having learned things if you made it through. But my school also had a very poor fine arts program. And to be quite blunt, I often wondered why any art student chose to stay. But going even further, it depends a lot on the individual as well. I was admittedly not the best student. I wasnt that interested in lab or research compared to some of my classmates, nor did I apply myself as much. And the difference is clear to see when others could rattle off different solvents and what reactions would occur from memory and I would be sitting there dumbfounded.

Next question, what schools are good places? Again, that fully depends on what you want to go to school for. But I’ll tell you what I did and how I chose my school. When I was a junior in high school, I found a list of every 4 year university in my state (I knew I wanted to stay in state, but you can do this for wherever you want to go). I then went through and gave each school a ranking out of 5 (based on vibes, chemistry program, education program, cost, and surrounding area). Once I had it narrowed down to only a few schools, those were the ones I toured. And I chose where to send applications from there.

Though, I cant stress enough how beneficial community college can be. A lot of people get all their gen eds out of the way either before they enroll in a university or over summers. Doing this will save you money and time. Literally not a single person on a university campus would look down on you for this. If anything, they will praise you for being smart. I took a few classes over the summers between semesters just to get them out of the way (and also avoid certain professors).

Where to learn more? Google. Google schools near you. Google schools where you want to go. Google schools ranked nationally in xyz. Google affordable universities. Google universities that have good financial aid programs. Just google so many things. From there, spend time exploring university websites. Read about their community and their academic programs. See if they have virtual tours uploaded. Check out their student activity board social medias to see what it would be like to be there as a student. Sign up for tours. Do an overnight visit if you can!! Or even, just walk around the campus without a tour guide

I feel like i always start these off or end them by saying that these things are going to be incomprehensible in some way, mainly bc i have trouble translating whats going on in my mind into written words so i really dont know how much of my list thingies make sense to you but this one is especially probably going to not make much sense. (also bc i send them a lot when im either very tired or not sober, but i am sober and wide awake rn so this might be a different kind of incomprehensible)

I found one of my old drafts for an ask from around a year ago and it was a follow up response to the last chapter you posted at the time, so im not sure how its going to sound without the context of that specific chapter, but i also mentioned in one of my other asks that i add stuff in last minute and that ask i added a shit ton of stuff so i dont have any of that pretyped out so im going by memory. But im sending it again bc i havent seen you answer it

(please do not interpret this as ‘why didnt you answer my ask >:/’ or me rushing you to answer asks or anything like that, but like I said its been a year so im assuming tumblr ate it. If not and you just havent cleaned out your ask box and you find the original, congratulations you’ll know what i originally said. Bc idk how accurate this will be)

Theres two different ways that you seem to write metaphors (idk if thats what theyre called im not caught up on my literary terminology)

(im scrolling through your blog rn looking for my other asks and tumblr really did you dirty in your asks system like i started scrolling and the third one down was from 2021 and im fighting for my life trying to find my tag (thank you for my tag btw its very useful to me))

Anywho, most of your metaphors ( to me) can be split into two categories. Theres the simple ones and the complex ones. Now this might seem obvious but im going to explain to you how these have different effects on my brain.

An example of the ‘simple’ ones is

““If Nanook’s tone had a note of seriousness, then Zuko’s was the entire orchestra.”” (idk what chapter this is from its been a while)

You have a lot of these kinds of whatever the haick kind of literary technique this is (is this a metaphor i’ve been trying to google it for like ½ an hour and i cant figure it out) BUT these type of things that are simple and easy to process is one of my favorite things about the way you write. I think this is a very common technique but the way you do it to me is just a lot more unique than the ways ive seen it done before. Its extremely fluent with the voice of the characters and brings a perfect kind of vibe to the ‘conversation’ (or story, text, whatever) and it paints the picture of what your trying to say perfectly. I also really like how these types of things arent ever in Zukos pov a lot (sometimes it is, but not nearly as much, I’ve noticed) and its not in the more serious like revelations that you drop these in. Like I said, it adds to the voice of the characters, bc of the contrast of Zuko constantly having revelations and dramatic archs and stuff, and the other characters just in general being a lot more calm. Its like when youre listening to a song and you have the lyrics and the like ‘main’ music behind the lyrics, but then when you listen to the song a lot you notice the smaller, like backup music that adds a lot to the song and makes it a lot more enjoyable than if it was just the lyrics and the louder more up front music.

Then in contrast you have the bigger ‘metaphors’

An example of this is ‘You curse in words already invented’

AND THIS IS WHY

When I tell you I could not figure out what this meant for months I am AWFUL with stuff like this and interpreting it my english teachers hate me bc of it. Id have the question ‘why were the curtains blue’ and my answer would be ‘bc the people who decorated the room like blue maybe theyre interior designers and it goes with the room 😊 and thats so hot of them bc i love blue too’

But even thought i couldnt figure it out it stayed in my head and i probably thought about it once a day (i mean this literally, i think about that part all the time) and i cant remember the context for that or anything but i do remember that i knew it was a wonderful phrase.

I’ve mentioned in my other asks how whenever im reading anything at all that you’ve written (whether its tams, or toab, or in the tags of something even if its like 10 words), everything you type comes out so fluidly like a formula or a color wheel or however i put it last time i talked about this. And this is on the prodigious end of the spectrum of this.

But phrases like that are another part of the fic, theyre like the lyrics of the song. Like the phrases that gets all the attention and gets put in fanart and that gets quoted in comment sections because they deserve that recognition and you deserve that recognition and are just a reminder of how incredibly talented you are.

I mean that in the most sincere way that i know how to express.

I am constantly in awe of you and your writing style, and i really do think of you as one of the most talented writers of everything ive ever read.

And something else worth mentioning is that it isnt just your ao3 that portrays that. Like if I were to just read your ao3 I’d be like ‘oh wow this person is an amazing writer’ But your tumblr persona plays into it a lot more (In my opinion). Because then you see like more ‘backround’ stuff on ao3. And more of your system (im not articulating this in the way i mean it very well) and you get privy to the fact that you’re not a 30 year old with a masters in english and that you’ve never had any formal education on writing. I vaguely remember you talking about a story about a sailor (??? i might be misremembering that) that you wrote when you were a child and thinking ‘oh wow so she’s always been like that’. And its stuff like that that you dont get on ao3 that kind of reaffirms how incredible of a writer you are.

And this (to me) makes you a really easy person to admire. (ik i touched on this in a different ask but i dont remember if it was one of my list asks or not) but as someone who probably isnt going to ever be able to get an education around writing, it kind of reassures me that i dont need that to be great at it.

(i kind of feel like a lot of the stuff in this ask is too like ‘simple’ or obvious to be given a lot of weight, but this whole thing is about the kinds of things you do that brings me personally joy and the metaphors are one of them so)

Also on an off note when i was looking through your asks to try to find my tag, I noticed that i send you a heavy percentage of your anonymous asks (mainly without my alias) and I thought that was funny. But also i hope it doesnt come across as obsessive or weird, I swear i do that to a lot of people on here, I’m just a very social person. .😂

Also Im in your tbos server (lurking in the shadows) and someone pointed out that whenever you do the reaction emojis you always do the white ones, and thats going on the official ‘my favorite things about hella’ list because that was genuinely one of the funniest things ive seen.

Also the ‘anytime you type its very fluid (im too lazy to scroll up and see how i put it rn) also carrys on to discord. I think that i could probably block out the user names and be able to figure out that its you talking every time, you have a very distinct way of talking.

Also i wanted to mention that every time you answer these i read them again and i want to say like 1/3 of what i sasy, i have no recollection of. And i never have any idea what im talking about. so i think thats funny.

dfk 2023 thoughts in more orderly and english under the cut

- the whole thing feels sörta soulless and empty

- and in my amateur opinion the screenplay is nor very tight and even clumsy at points

- which im turn hindered the actors (Mrs Kreuzkamm falls victim to a bad script and Justus too at a slighlty lesser rate) and especially the kids actors

- regarding the kids: Jos characterisation is.....wrong

- like literally doesnt have anything to do with johnny

- Matz and Uli were also just not it i cant explain it it just didnt hit

- but i actually enjoyed the martina storyline and execution

- but in general it did not feel like they were trying to tell the same story as the book

- and then they meet again after uli fell down the wall and its like to exes meeing suddendly like fanfiction level of miscommunication but 👉👈 i enjoyed that

- they make up over long and intense eye contacts during the play

- the other ships:

- sorry cnka uli und matz is...not it in this movie none of them feel like fully realised characters and it's just very...distant

- matz just kinda stands there when they put uli in the rubbish on the cupboard

- martina and jo starts rough but they have some nice cute scenes in the end

- jo kinda mellows out in the end and then they start to get along
