Ok, I'm doing it, I'm engaging with the hate comments in fanfiction I enjoy. I probably shouldn't, they probably want to rile people up but if they want to fight someone then bitch so am I, get away from this fic if you don't like it and save your nasty ass comments...

real, genuine question
When you, a reader, leave comments on a fic, do you expect the author to reply? If “expect” is perhaps the wrong word... do you enjoy it when they do? Am I going overboard by replying to everybody who comments on my stuff and making them all uncomfortable?
I have been out of fandom for a minute and don’t know the current etiquette.
... surely it’s not just that I’m overthinking this. Surely not. I have never in my life.

Y'all, all of Max's recent videos on YouTube are FLOODED with people commenting things like "Great programming! But I'd be more inclined to check it out if you renewed OFMD for its third and final season," and it's so incredibly glorious and delightful.
If you're twiddling your thumbs/wanting another little fight to jump in, care to join?

idk if anyone else has gotten the beta for the new communities feature but these features in particular are a little bit concerning to me. i haven't tested this, but it looks to be an entirely separate comment section that's hidden from the post's op if they're not in the community, meaning you're removing a creator's ability to moderate the comment section surrounding their work. this is especially concerning for me as a creator who produces content related to transness and gender identity--moderating my comments is often a constant daily struggle to keep bigots from having their way with my posts, and this seems like it has the potential to remove or at least significantly impair my ability to moderate who engages with my content and how. Also, on a site that's had major problems with transphobic and racist harassment in the past, i can see this very quickly devolving into a way to dogpile on certain users or even organize the kind of harassment campaigns we KNOW certain people on this site are prone to engage in with no way for any outsiders to even WITNESS what's going down. At the very least i think the op of a post reblogged into a community needs to have access to the community comments (which may already be a feature--like i said i haven't tested it yet but this explanation reads to me like they don't) but on a larger scale i think the devs for this site NEED to think about the potential for misuse when putting out new features like this because this just looks like a nightmare waiting to happen to me

it's quite offputting to me when ppl can't disentangle their hatred for capitalism from a hatred for... new technological innovation? the ways in which capitalism has shaped the development of certain technologies has been deeply negative, not to mention that imperialism ensures that new technology is usually produced via extractive relationships with both the planet + ppl in the global south.
but this weird tying of capitalist impact on innovation (+the idea of what is/is not innovation) to hatred of innovation itself (or even more disturbing valorization of "the good old days"/implications that technology is causing social degeneracy) is baffling to me. perhaps it is impossible to achieve specific technologies without unconscionable resource extraction practices, in which case they should not be pursued. but so many ppl act like there is something inherently morally suspect in pursuit of tech such as autonomous vehicles or AI or automation, independent of the material conditions that produced them/that they may produce.
tesla is evil because they exploit ppl for profit + participate in an economy built on the exploitation of the global south + use 'innovation' as a marketing tool to mask serious safety concerns. they're not evil bcuz they want to make vehicles that move on their own. there are actually a great deal of fantastic applications for vehicles which move on their own? equating technology with moral decay is not a radical position; you need a material analysis of why technological innovation has become characterized by harmful practices.

idk what ultimately is the source of average height men pretending they’re oppressed but to see grown ass like 35+ men insist that they’re single solely because they’re 5’7-5’10 is legitimately insane. its worse when you see someone being like. my wonderful son can’t get a date because he’s 5’9 it’s so sad out here! like you do not live on planet earth this is the stupidest fucking incel cope of all time

The model!Bernard is great but wouldn’t it be mostly likely Tim to be the model since he is a public figure?
yeah ig, logically, tim would be more likely to model than bear but i was thinking of this image when writing that
the og image gives off a sense longing more than horniess but i'm tired of making everything sad. also i just think bear is pretty enough to model. like look at him. this tim and this bear
or wait, fuck, this tim and this bear
model!bear and ceo!tim become gotham's it couple. the tabloids can't stop reporting on it. there's a new breakup rumor every week. the wayne fanbase on twt goes rabid over it. there are fansites dedicated to them. @/imyellingtimber, @downbadfordowd, @drakeinpants, the whole works. they get married and the internet breaks.
