I love so much that “Bepo is Law’s weakness” is arguably canon. It’s not “Law’s weakness is cute things” like some ppl in fandom try to say since Law is pretty visibly unaffected by Chopper, little kids, all the standard “cute things” in OP. It’s literally just Bepo and his cuteness that has an effect on Law, and we see it in reaction to Bepo going “🥺” when Bepo was sick, letting Bepo hug him all the time, taking Bepo to Uta concert only bc he knows Bepo wants to go, etc. LawBepo is such a perfect ship, massively underrated ship frfr 🩷🩷🩷🩷

Bepo is special he is spoiled and coddled and can do anything he wants with barely a word from Law. i do think Law is good with kids but Bepo is a grown man - his best friend

and as much as some lawbepo non-shippers want to see them as parent and child -you dont see someone YOU grew up with. YOU were children at the same time with - and grew up alongside each other as a CHILD. You just don't see them as that, it's nonsense. Yes he is like law's little brother but not a child

(i call him Law's baby like 20 times a day but that's in a way that a cute girlfriend is "baby")

Saying all this to say that "oh Law is weak to Bepo's cuteness because he is like Law's baby" (implying child) or even worse = when people call him a pet They grew up together - 4 year difference is forgotten about -you are peers - yes of course Bepo is both subordinate and looks up to Law as an stronger smarter leader etc. but thats not a parental dynamic at all.

its a very serious, rational and collected guy and his favorite guy who he spoils in big and little ways and have been spoiling him their whole lives...

i love that Law saved Bepo from getting his ass beat and dying alone and brought him home and they just stayed in that dynamic their whole life and both became adults but this "Bepo is precious and weak af and i love him" pretty much didn't change.

and Bepo is so comfortable with it. novel was Law focused so it never gave Bepo an "I'LL TO PROVE MYSELF TO YOU THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO PROTECT ME ALL THE TIME I CAN HOLD MY OWN" arc - and that would make sense for his character if there was time/desire to focus on him but because of those constraints Bepo bypassed that and i kinda love it? (you can call it another of many copes of mine idc) but him NOT having a standart "little brother" arc is awesome, Bepo is very comfortable in his role and when he speaks its always

"I'll do my best for you and help where i can because you are so amazing" there is zero of his own ego. He is comfortable in his "lower rank" role, he doesn't strive to be Law's equal he knows he can't be! Law san is the greatest!!

Law is happy with it too because he is a protector in nature (look at his bigass crew ;-;♥) so bepo being HAPPY to be protected makes him happy too. It makes Law feel strong and good, it plays on his ego in a positive way being looked up to and sought out as a protector - yes it's pressure (that Bepo does his best to elevate) but it's not negative and Law takes it happily, it's good to feel needed. And it all started with Bepo and they preserved that - Law is always strong and cool leader and protector and Bepo is always UUUU CAPTAIN 🥺😭🥺😭🥺😭

they are the best and i love them so much it's such a special dynamic and it makes Law's character so much better

i love how khare is essentially a tragedy story playing out. having your normal life taken from you by chance i think is such a very real fear and how it could’ve happened to anyone make it more realistic i think. khare DOESNT have mc syndrome where everything up until this point was setting her up for this to happen. it just did . anyone could be that poor mennonite girl and who knows if there’s another one like khare out there!! the realism in how despite everything awful happening to her she STILL has to work a 9-5 and survive is so. weirdly american. i feel like it mirrors any story of an immigrant to america. despite the horrors (tm) happening - she still has to take care of herself because of this capitalistic hellscape we HAVE to keep persisting. khare can’t stop in the middle of her story and find a cure. khare HAS to have a job, HAS to blend in, HAS to try and just make it work. idk if i explained this very well but erm yeah that’s why i like khare :)

This is EXACTLY what I've been trying to convey all along and you understand so succinctly??? Her circumstances have been very extreme, getting kidnapped while vacationing in America and generally having her very normal life being taken away from her unwillingly and just... having to find her place again, regain some normalcy and lord if trying to make enough money to cover the rent just so you can keep a roof over your head is not something we're all struggling with!!! No matter what happens, finding your bearings and looking after yourself first and foremost is very important so I'm glad that struck a chord with you and that you found it so realistic (even though the mutation itself is completely sci-fi/junji ito horror asdfghjkl...) Thank you again for understanding and putting everything into words so clearly. I know I haven't exactly written much about her struggles when it comes to day to day living but you hit the nail right on the head with how much of a struggle it actually is, having to lay low and blend in, work hard enough to make a little cash and do it all over again the next time. It's not glamorous or fun, there's no time to look for a cure even if she knew where to start. She's no main character, just a background NPC thrown into a situation anybody else could have ended up. This capitalistic hellspace is all she's got rn and she's just... trying to make things work as long as she can, even if she's got to cobble things together with bits of old chewing gum and dollar store glue. Very high praise coming from an exceptional writer such as yourself! I cannot WAIT to interact with Dewey because she herself has even more of a tragic backstory through absolutely no fault of her own and these two could end up as very good friends because of it. They're in it together and shit sucks.

Curiosity got the better of me, so forgive me for tainting Roy’s HolyName, but what’s your take on the interview quote? The whole “taking my son to punishland” deal?

I don’t really believe in the whole media theory and don’t think Roy is necessarily the bad guy, but that quote kinda makes me wonder what his motives are (if any, maybe he was just being ominous for the lols)

You’re like the only person in the whole community which I can discuss things related to Roy without someone pulling the whole “dad bad” scandal so sorry if I tend to flood the chat lmao

Fair warning, rant mode activated. The text below contains my dazed ramblings (I’m still sick), personal opinions, generic you, and me questioning the motives of everyone except Roy. In fact, perhaps this is not suitable for reading at all. I’ve spent a good while at it, and I’m no longer able to tell.

(For this reason I responded to the third paragraph first.)

It’s funny, you know. I’m the only person like that in the community and I barely feel like I even belong in this community. Or at least I’ve been made to feel like I shouldn’t be here. By your own words, I’m certain you know what I might mean by that. Such is life.

And don’t even get me started on that sort of people. I’ve dealt with plenty enough. I don’t want to anymore.

But I love DHMIS, and I love Roy, and I refuse to leave.

I do apologize if at any point during this I sound... off... I’m just... so tired.

My take on the interview as a whole is that it’s an additional (and frankly non-canon) series of some of the most abstract and nonsensical quotes I’ve ever read, and I’m a surrealist by nature. And really, how often do you see people taking anything BUT that one quote from it at face value (or even mention it at all)? It almost feels like cherry-picking whatever suits the theories. Because otherwise it’s nonsense. Hmm.

HMM.

But fine, okay, the quote. It means nothing to me. I’ve seen people claim it refers to the events of the show... well, I don’t know how other people do it, but when I talk about something that has happened or is actively happening, I don’t refer to it in future tense. And Roy’s an eloquent man. I’m sure he knows basic grammatical functions. My point is, if he is referring to something for real? You wouldn’t know! So what’s the point in assuming the worst?

I know some people love to blame Roy for everything evil in the world (huergh.) but then turn around and excuse any questionable actions of their own faves. (I get you! I just happen to be an unmovable object stationed on Roy’s side.) Actions that were literally done on screen that you can see with your eyes. Unlike with Roy, who’s just standing there. Oh so evilly! 😂

No, see, the teachers are terrible because ROY made them like that (or they’re completely innocent or something, I don’t even know anymore). No, see, Red and Duck Guy would make such better caretakers for Yellow who never did anything bad to him and what do you mean have I watched DHMIS 3 (I don’t believe in any of that “pilot” stuff but if I did, it only gets worse there lol and yes, some people try to blame THAT on Roy as well. I ain’t here for that. HE’S NOT EVEN IN IT!)?

Hell, if you want to believe in the interview as true, Yellow says he’s allergic to and scared of eggs (along with a myriad of other things included in the episodes, which just makes me believe it less, to be honest. It’s all just random rambling and references.) Take of that what you will.

And I feel the need to reiterate that I neither hate nor have anything against Red and Duck Guy. Or even the teachers. Not at all! I’m also not saying Roy’s an angel (he is to me 💛). I’m saying nobody is one. Except Yellow. Yellow is pure and innocent and needs to be protected at all cost. Which is why Roy is there. But acting like Roy is the pinnacle of all evil is awfully silly at best. My point is that if you’re gonna hold Roy accountable for something, hold everyone else accountable as well.

Personally, I don’t believe in any of the theories. Don’t care much for them. I don’t need to know the true, real, deepest lore meaning of DHMIS. I found my own value in it, and I found my own meaning. It has nothing to do with the show itself, but it makes me feel good, and that’s all that matters, really.

Also, it's absolutely in character for Roy to act ominously purely to mess with people. I... I’d know.

I was drawing my illustration for Azul's birthday and I suddenly felt the urge to draw a laid-back Azul because I just wanted him to feel totally secure and peaceful in his environment. Behind this all evil controlling mafia boss, there must be a soft Azul well hidden 🥺

I just imagine Azul sitting on a couch and crossing his legs in a very relaxed way because I noticed he usually crosses them in a "formal" way. Of course he cannot resist reading one of his last contracts and he's holding his favorite coin. I assumed these are items that make him feel in his comfort zone. Ok the open shirt and the loose straps I added them for the pleasure of the eyes. Evil Azul as well...

As he seems to control every aspect of his life in order to look impeccable mostly in front of people around him, I just assume this must be an exhausting lifestyle to keep up on long term.

Through this illustration, I just wanted to express that performing and being at the top all the time is mentally exhausting (and yes I might be referring a bit to myself as well…) and enjoying life just the way it is without planning or controlling everything is also important for your mental health. Anyway, I am going very deep in the meaning of this drawing but as weird as it might sound, it made me feel better drawing Azul with all this in mind. These are quite the things I’ve been dealing with lately and I needed to share it.

Another version of Azul with a different gradient map I like and a small animation I created with Azul feeling a bit alone after an exhausting week:

Through this animation, I assume Azul might have his moments where he can relax a bit more but would do it hidden from the others even the twins. So what’s better than your own Tsum appearing and giving you the love you deserve. Yes Azul, you’re enough as you are without performing all the time you precious baby boy.
