My friend on the phone: “I can’t die. I’m a god. Nothing can kill me.”
Her right afterwards: “These take 4 minutes to microwave? I can’t wait that long, I’ll die.”
Me: “I thought you said you can’t die?”
Her: “….oh, yeah - right.”

me starting to watch rwrb: i adore that alex's core issue with henry is addressed so early, giving first timers an idea of what going on on alex's side with the rivalry. i hope its addressed with henry later as well.
they did not address it. Alex explaining it only gives the melbourne climate conference as an answer for why he dislikes Henry (genuine question- why did they change it from rio olympics). he talks about it to nora earlier about being compared and stuff and logically people are supposed to connect the two and see they're related but I've already seen people saying that Alex's reason for rivalry is childish and stupid and it's not?? he does have his reasons. even Henry points out how minimal it is and as far as he knows, it kinda is. there's still basis but it lacks depth. we don't get to see Alex's insecurity which touches on his need to live up to the expectations and how it's harder because he's the son of the first female president and not white and he has to work twice as hard and this is all directly paraphrased from the book. it cheapens Alex's side of things. it rankles even more when Henry side is explained according to the book and it gives that depth to his character that movie Alex doesn't have now. he seems more childish and I don't know it really annoys me especially since I relate to Alex so much and pains me to see how his character will/is being misinterpreted because of this.
