AFO doesn’t have a heart right I think in order to Deku to save Tenko he has to reach his heart something AFO doesn’t have that has been a running things since class a vs class b when blackwhip first manifested
I actually talked about this last year here.
It's an old post, and I link to some OTHER posts in that linked post that don't completely reflect my takes now. So be mindful of that if you read it.
But the post I linked to talks about the heart/soul/AFO situation.
He has a heart, I mean literally yes. He's human.
Saving Shigaraki is a matter of saving the heart--a la the entirety of BNHA defining a hero by several ideals: Saving those within your reach, giving help that's not asked for, and saving someone by saving not just the body but the heart.
So saving Shigaraki is a literal rescue mission on the surface, but beneath it's a lot of personal obstacles he needs help facing so he can set himself free. THAT is saving by starting with the heart, with Midoriya helping him begin to face and deal with that stuff. Because up until now he's avoided it like the plague.
And it ties in even more when you remember that Shigaraki said this in MVA:
Tumblr media
And then you learn where that source of never ending rage started from:
Tumblr media
Shigaraki is a mass of anger, resentment, hatred for everything and everyone, and then hatred for himself. The latter being his biggest challenge to overcome, otherwise he won't be breaking free from AFO's hold.
I talked more about that here too.
So AFO's physical body isn't of any concern when it comes to saving Shigaraki both inside and out. I mean yeah he may get in the way, but ShigAFO and Shigaraki both are still inhabiting Shigaraki's body. They're both in there. There's a heart in there to save and it's not AFO's.

M’Baku in Wakanda Forever is proof that you can give a Marvel character funny moments while also giving them emotional depth without taking away from the heart of the movie (and actually adding to it)

A little tired of people saying Moon can’t stand up for herself. Like yeah I think one of the flaws she has is she is too lenient and forgiving, but also in her situation it’s VERY HARD not to be. And it’s very situational, usually manifesting with Five Pebbles.
She stops talking to you if you annoy her enough, and only starts again if you win her back over. You have to put in the work. She isn’t “rolling over” and letting things happen to her, despite the fact that she is in absolutely no position to bargain. As stated by her, her kindness and her words are the ONLY thing she has. So her taking those away from you, the player, is absolutely her standing up for herself.
Everyone brings up how she handles Five Pebbles (esp the comms thing) and it is incredible to me just how many people lay this entirely at her feet when the game states over and over again that even despite Moon’s intentional feather-light influence over him, he still resents her for being his superior. He seeks out a mentor who is her opposite.
He wants to be something more than what he is, wants to be detached from her, and she can’t do anything about that but do the best she can to exert as little influence over him as possible.
She is stuck between a rock and a hard place here, and was betting on her kindness to have fostered enough mutual respect that she wouldn’t have to resort to forced communications. She was wrong. He was driven by fierce desperation, something that she wasn’t privy to. And she paid for it.
Yes, this is a flaw of hers. But it’s not a universal one. (the rest of the iterators look to her for help- she’s the group senior for gods sake- and people act like she can’t take a stand) I genuinely doubt Moon would’ve waited so long to used forced comms if it were happening to anyone else. If it were being committed by anyone else. And that just makes the tragedy even sweeter.

it shouldn’t be glossed over just how empathetic Joel is. he expressed empathy towards Ellie given her dire case of being a child within the confines of a cruel, unforgiving-apocalyptic world that supplants what should have been a habitual childhood for her. he offered an apology for scolding Henry and calling him a rat without initially reconciling the benign intentions behind his actions. he pleaded for the elderly sniper on the outskirts of kansas city to put down the rifle so he didn’t have to kill him. it all accentuates just how against his nature he must be to survive in this world. he can’t always spare people, he can’t always shed sympathy. but he wishes he could, and even on occasion tries. it’s the very context he once stooped to the level of the hunters in his past that makes this point pang all the more. he isn’t apathetic. he isn’t exclusively selfish. he isn’t rigid. he is open-ended. Joel is more than a hammer that sees all problems as a nail to be forcefully struck without finesse. He values compassion and preserving life, and any ultimatum that cements the opposite only elicits a last resort of violence and numbness. the silver lining is more desirable than conforming to cruelty

Some interesting similarities between the forms of Falling Devil and Darkness Devil.
There’s the use of multiple bodies to create a singular form, the angular shapes, the mantis-leg-like appendages, the sheer height.
These two also share very strong hand motifs, which makes sense for both of them: when it’s dark, you have to feel your way around, usually with your hands; when you’re falling, you try to grab onto something with your hands.
I’m curious to see if the other Primals look anything like these two.

the first episode of fhjy was such a fucking blast. one of my favorite moments was most of the bad kids succeeding on their saving throws against being Frightened by the Night Yorb but Adaine failed, and when Brennan asked Siobhan how this looks/feels for Adaine, Siobhan was answered “i feel a panic attack coming on.”
and it’s like. as much as Adaine has changed since the beginning, it’s really refreshing to see that her anxiety disorder didn’t vanish with her character development. like, they’re acknowledging how that kinda stuff doesn’t just go away — you can’t really get over it so easily. Love u forever Adaine & Siobhan <3

This is a spin-off of a different discourse but, you guys know that Laios and Falin aren’t literally the same character but different genders, right? And for that matter, Ryoko Kui wrote their genders as being part of the people they turned out to be?
The biggest difference is confrontation and bluntness—Laios is very blunt and not afraid to share his opinion. He usually isn't trying to pick a fight, and he certainly isn't trying to hurt people's feelings, but that is the end result in some instances.
Falin, on the other hand, despite being open about her interests and true to herself, is non-confrontational and accommodating of people's feelings to a fault. The fact that she prioritizes making healing painless over making it effective is a problem! And she largely follows other people's leads when it comes to how she lives her life, instead of asserting herself. That’s part of what makes her chimera intro so horrific—the way she’s acting is shockingly at odds with her normal personality. People love Falin for her gentleness, and that’s not a word I would apply to Laios.
One of the instances that makes this clearest is the "that's not normal, Laios" incident. Right after Laios says something off-putting, he reflects that if Falin were here, she would be able to smooth it over and prevent the awkwardness. Falin is just far less socially awkward and prone to upsetting people, and this is important.
Laios and Falin are very close and have a lot in common, but are fundamentally different people with very different approaches to other people. This is a vital plot and characterization point to understanding them and the themes of their arcs.

Egalt and his teaching methods really struck be because they directly contrast Lloyd’s teaching method
Egalt is strict, blunt, and demeaning, he isn’t going to tell you he believes in you the way Lloyd does. Lloyd is the first to pat you on the shoulder and tell you that He believes in you and you should believe in yourself.
Particularly with Arin- Egalt was actually teaching how to do the Rising Dragon technique, while Lloyd let Arin do his own thing because Arin has a Gift/Talent
Egalt would tell Arin he didn’t have enough of the foundational skills and in the next shot Lloyd is there telling Arin he can do it
You realize Lloyd hasn’t bothered to teach Arin spinjiztu and it’s probably because he thinks he doesn’t need to- Arin will just get it
Arin not getting better because he isn’t receiving the right teaching / advice fuels Lloyds fears of not being a good master and fuels Arins fears of not being fit to be a Ninja. It’s a quaking cycle
Egalt and Lloyds methods are on opposite ends of the spectrum but both ultimately failed at helping him,, they are both out of balance you could say
Makes you wonder where Arin would be if Lloyd had taught him before. Can’t help but wonder if Lloyd being the original “gifted ninja” and the chosen one tampers with how he teaches
