every day I am haunted by the awareness that in a Queen’s Thief au of The Silmarillion, Fingon would without question be a Thief (stole (back) a king, leading directly to the swift resolution of a succession crisis)

There are a lot of theories out there about the true identity of the last hero, but I think the one that makes the most thematic sense is that he was a member of the original Night’s Watch. See the last hero’s identity is shrouded in mystery but his deeds live on forever and he is attributed with having led to the defeat of the Others. The legends show that his actions are famous, but the man himself is forgotten.
This seems quite close to what being a member of the Night’s Watch entails. The Watch’s vows dictate that members, who are the sword in the darkness and the fire that burns against the cold thus directly marking them in opposition to winter and the Others, shall hold no lands, wear no crowns, and win no glory. They are known to the rest of the kingdoms as those who guard the realms of men, but their identities and individual triumphs are largely unimportant.
This is a shared parallel between the members of the Night’s Watch and the last hero. We don’t know anything about his name, house, or background. Even the title ‘the last hero’ is merely an identifier - note that it’s in lower case. So it would make sense that the last hero’s identity is to remain anonymous if that was the entire point of it all; he was a man of the Night’s Watch and thus, indirectly, swore a vow of anonymity. And better yet, we don’t even know who his twelve companions were. We know only that they rode out with him and died in the process. However we do know that in the north, there are two figures who are directly identified as having been responsible for the ending of the long night: the last hero (as per folk tales narrated by Old Nan) and the Night’s Watch (see the Night that Ended). It could be that the legend of the last hero and his twelve companions is a glimpse of the NW’s last stand.
I also think it’s interesting that we have various last hero parallels in the text who are members of the Night’s Watch. We first have Waymar Royce who seems very last hero-y in the AGOT prologue. Then we have Jon Snow who is implicitly identified by the narrative as a last hero figure. And it gets even more interesting when we consider that Jon has at many times stated that as a member of the night’s watch, he is to remain a shadow among all shadows. His greatest deeds are to go unnoticed and his name is not to be spoken in the halls of men. His deeds could live on, but his name won’t; even more interesting when we consider that Jon, due to his bastardy, technically doesn’t actually have a name to begin with. And what makes Jon’s connection to the last hero so poignant is that while the last hero’s name has been lost to history, Jon has a whole thing about being a lost and forgotten prince/king.
But there’s a rather unexpected last hero parallel in Sam Tarly, also a member of the Night’s Watch. Sam is not magically special, nor is he marked as someone with a particularly important bloodline or destiny. However, he is the first person in thousands of years to slay an Other. And he did that using a shard of dragonglass, which provides an interesting callback to the last hero’s dragonsteel blade. There’s also the parallel of both heroes being the last men standing after an Other attack. But interestingly enough, there’s a slight deviation in that though we still do not know who the last hero was, we do know of Sam the Slayer.
So it’s entirely possible that the last hero was one of the members of the original NW. And this makes for a rather interesting foil in another character who is explicitly stated as having a relationship with the Others - the Night’s King. It’s interesting if both figures have some background with the NW due to the dichotomy that arises. The last hero kept his vows and wore no crown and got no glory, but the Night’s King very directly broke his. The last hero protected the realms of men, while the Night’s King embarked of a path of destruction. And he was, quite famously, a member of the Night’s Watch (and is even identified as having been the 13th lord commander). But it’s interesting that while we don’t really know of the Night’s King’s true identity, we are actually given multiple clues by the narrative. We’re even told that he may have been a Brandon Stark - thereby having a name which the last hero doesn’t. But even then, just as it was with the last hero, the Night’s King has deeds which live on forever even though his name (very deliberately) has not.

Ok, ive gotta hear the whole Coldhands=Danny Flint theory bc its been bouncing off the walls of my brain since i saw that art. Like, i LOVE Danny Flint and I’m obsessed w her and i wish she had more of a presence in the story. I want it to be true even if its just a “wouldnt this be cool if it happened” theory
Hey, love to see someone else loving Danny Flint that much!
So basically the whole theory is about how Danny Flint could have been the one who became Coldhands because it vaguely lines up with both the timeline and their stories as well as some of the things that were said about Coldhands (and also because it would be awesome):
The timeline parallel can be summed up quickly by him being described as having been "killed [...] long ago" by Leaf, which technically makes him too old to be any of the dead brothers of the nights watch that we met in the time the story took place, while at the same time there are very few historical night's watch members that we actually know anything about, Danny Flint being one of them.
The story part goes a little bit deeper; we know that Coldhands was once a brother of the night's watch, that he was killed by the wights, and that he was raised from the dead, presumably by the children of the forest - he also knows about the black gate under the Nightfort, wanders the lands beyond the wall alone with only his elk, and considers the night's watch men that him and Bran encounter foes. Danny Flint joined the night's watch disguised as a man and faced incredibly cruel consequences for it by her "brothers", who are implied to have murdered her as well, is well known as a legendary figure of songs for her bravery, and she served at the Nightfort, which her ghost is said to haunt until this day.
Now the connection here is really far fetched but there are definitely some interesting parallels that keep me up at night:
-Coldhands knowing about the black gate under the Nightfort even though no living man remembers, Danny Flints ghost haunting it still, and the gate being what connects the Nightfort to the world beyond. Maybe her ghost is still there, and now on the other side
-Danny Flint being an outsider in the brotherhood and trying to fit in standing in direct contrast to Coldhands staying on his own, now an outsider on the other side of the world, but maybe having found peace in his existence among the dead and inhuman, as opposed to the cruel side he saw of humanity
-Her ghost remembering what her brothers did to her and Coldhands seeing the ones he meets as his enemies, with the exception of Sam, whom he found protecting someone else who does not belong with the night's watch
-Coldhands having been killed by "them", whether "they" were the others, the wights, or even who they once were - we literally don't know
To be fair, there's not really proof that any of this is related at all, but there isn't really anything speaking against it either? And yes, it's definitely a theory falling in the "wouldn't it be cool if it happened" category, but literally it would be so cool like. imagine
(Also I should definitely mention that I'm not the one who came up with it and I'm not even sure if its an "official" or even well known theory, so most of this comes from what I read elsewhere, my own thoughts, or possibilities I talked about with friends but its such an intriguing theory nonetheless!)

Stargate rewatch: 1x13 Hathor
Tumblr media
An episode Jonathan Glassner is on the record as regretting - an attempt to up the sexy quotient to please the studio.
Fingertips over the sarcophagus a nice parallel to Ra in the movie.
I guess Hathor popped over to Europe to get herself a host huh 🤨
“Since I was the only one to ever do research in cross-pollenisation of ancient cultures, they tracked me down.” I have several problems with this - first Daniel works on a top secret military project and was likely declared dead, he can be tracked down by academics? Second, the incredulity of no one in the SG universe researching cross-cultural myths, and that such theories would be laughable. Third, the other archeologists have this paradigm-shifting artefact and just send it to some dude rather than study it themselves, and forth, that the Mexican government let them, even though the thing is solid gold?
Tumblr media
I like the framing of this shot and the symmetry of the Gate and sarcophagus.
Jack: “It’s like that thing on Ra’s spaceship-” Daniel: “That brought Sha’re and I back from the dead.” I mean I like it when they mention movie events, but technically Jack never saw the sarcophagus. I guess things played out slightly differently in showverse.
Sam gets a shoulder pat and is not happy about it, because it's a patronising shoulder pat, not the shoulder pat of comfort.
Tumblr media
She also does research on 90’s era internet in what looks like Janet’s office - this was before Sam and Daniel had their own labs.
"I just can't figure out how to be one of the guys with these guys you know? I always feel like I’m The Girl.” Ironic that this is said in an episode where it’s all about her being The Girl. Other than CotG and Emancipation, I’m not sure we see Sam treated as anything other than one of the team? The narrative treats Sam as The Girl, but the characters generally don’t.
I think the main struggle of this episode is that it veers so close to camp, but is played so sinister there’s a tonal dissonance that can’t quite be reconciled.
We want to have fun with Hathor, she’s glam and arch and should be fun! But there’s no fun in this storyline.
I mean this is an episode where Daniel is raped and Jack is assaulted, not exactly family friendly fare.
Tumblr media
Daniel is dosed twice to fall under Hathor’s thrall, then when he finds out she wants to use him to spawn Goa’uld larvae he tries to stop her and is dosed again, and it’s so uncomfortable to watch.
And it’s meant to be uncomfortable, villain does villainous things is not something I have a problem with. And on some level the show does convey the gravity of this - the next time we see Daniel he’s in a dissociative state - but then it glosses over the trauma.
Because something like this is pertinent to Daniel’s character in particular, being powerless under the hold of a Goa’uld gives him a glimpse into what Sha’re is suffering and would only make him more determined to find her, but it’s never addressed.
Look I know Daniel sometimes gets grief for being “my wife” all the time, but he should mention her all the time? Especially when it’s relevant to what’s happening to him.
Tumblr media
Maybe I’m just expecting too much from a tv show, but codas are often my favourite part of an episode, especially when there’s a need to deal with the aftermath of the episode’s events. Perhaps that’s more for fanfic than broadcast media, but I do feel that if a show is going to present something like this, there needs to be more than “ew” at the end.
Suanne Braun, however, is an absolute delight. Check out Hathor Hosts on Youtube.
Rumor has it Sharon Stone, who in the late 80’s was married to executive producer Michael Greenberg, was tapped to play Hathor at one point. Grain of salt.
Tumblr media
5 women on the whole base? No female scientists at work that day I guess.
I mean, I know this episode was well intentioned in an attempt to give some focus and hero moments for Sam and Janet, but it really has Men Writing Women vibes.
With this setup Hathor really should have been more of a recurring villain because the concept behind Goa’uld queens is interesting, she is genuinely menacing, and the team have a personal beef with her.
Tumblr media
Page Dr Mackenzie, they all need to boatloads of therapy. It’s Stargate: PTSD at this point.

My Ted Lasso Re-watch: S1E5 (part 3)
Tan Lines
Jamie isn't part of the power circle because he still doesn't understand that it's not all about him.
The chant he does is annoying.
Ted starting to become angry at Jamie's behaviour but is only stopped by Henry running in.
Ted's sigh when Henry starts doing the chant is every parent when they know they are going to be hearing the same song on repeat, non-stop. Even though he doesn't live with Henry at the moment, it's was just an automatic reaction for him.
Yes, don't humanise the human just trying to do his job.
Jamie's showboating is annoying as fuck.
Roy is rightfully pissed off at Jamie. Sam is down, he becomes the priority. Roy knows this from experience and helps Sam look like a hero for getting back up. Something Sam will later repay this to Roy at the end of the season.
All of Jamie's antics just makes Ted's decision to bench him easier. He has a plan and he needs Jamie that it cannot be all about him. He needs to work with his team mates because neither him or the team can get better. He'll get it eventually as he's the first one one the team to get Ted's Total Football plan, but right now he is just a prick.
Roy commands the locker room and Isaac makes space for Nate to sit down too.
Ted relating his life to what the team is going through. He has a story for everything. Reminds me of Raymond Reddington from The Blacklist who can pull of story from anywhere, in any situation.
Ted isn't just talking about the team, but about him and Michelle. Only Beard realises this which is why he says 'good save' when Ted has to reaffirm that he is talking about football. And it's also why Beard appears with a pint for Ted when he says goodbye to Michelle and Henry.
Ted wants all eyes on him to say one last thing, but slaps the shit out of the believe poster. He went to the Captain Holt school of commanding attention.
Yeah Roy, we all know you hate Jamie. You don't exactly hide it. Even Sam is fed up of hearing how much Roy hates Tartt.
Richmond gets their first win! Everyone but Rebecca and Jamie are happy about it.
Nate jumping on Ted will late be used as a Christmas present for Ted in season 2.
A Back To The Future reference. Will later be mentioned in the final Diamond Dogs meeting.
Henry is making the long run to see his dad this time.
Ted explaining to Henry what a wanker is. Oh honey. He's not technically wrong, he just left some details out.
Rebecca is starting to feel a twinge of guilt about her plan after seeing Henry and Ted together. As she should.
The parallel between how Ted and Michelle met and Roy and Keeley now.
Shannon keeping Henry busy while Ted and Michelle talk. We needed to see more of her.
Ted doesn't like quitting things because that how he saw what his dad did. He does want to do the same to the people in his own life. But he's not quitting the marriage, he's letting himself and Michelle move on from something that isn't working anymore. He's tried to make it work, through couples counselling, and then by giving Michelle space, but it's hasn't worked. It's okay the let go at that point they both need to find their own happiness, unfortunately it isn't together. But they have Henry and he will be their priority from now on. They make for better co-parents than spouces.
But holy hell does everyone sell this scene. As much as I might not be the biggest fan of Michelle, mostly because of her criticism of Ted's personality (girl, you married him. You knew what he was like) and her relationship with Dr Jacob being a bit sketchy, she is still hurting too. She love him and now she's lost that. It's not something she intended, just something that happened over time. And by this episode she was kind of done trying, as much as she might say she wants to try, she really didn't. She knew it was over and didn't want to admit it. She was making herself more miserable. And my heart breaks for Ted because he would do anything to stay with the woman he loves, because despite it all, he does love her. He never lost it. I can't imagine how it must feel to be told that the person you love most in the world no longer feels the about you. All he wanted to do was be a good husband but there's nothing he can do to make it right. So they only option he has left is to let her go. The only good thing to come out of this is that it's amicable. There's no hate or malice, just two people who drifted apart and now need to focus on their son.
Beard is the best friend Ted could have, he's always there when needed. Get a friend like Beard.

(if this is too discoursy for you please delete this ask, i don't mind)
I think the biggest problem with c!Tubbo killing c!Aimsey is that it felt very forced. Like, tubbo definitely has people he considers safe to be angry at. It was Tommy during new l'manburg, and it's Wilbur now, but that list stretching to someone he barely knows seems very far-fetched, since the only reason he feels safe enough to be angry at those people is that he knew that their retaliation. if there even is one, won't end up hurting him. The fight with aimsy felt very sporadic and not very well thought out from c!tubbo's end, which is pretty unlike him
^ This is an amazing point as to why it feels strange, and there are several other reasons I don't love it as well.
So the first thing that jumps out to me is that right out the gate, this is so far from logic-brain it's insane to me. c!Tubbo has always thought very objectively and logically about conflict, even and especially when his own life was on the line.
The one exception to this is conflict where c!Ranboo is involved, because he has a tendency to excuse c!Ranboo's actions even if he has evidence that c!Ranboo is probably at fault (such as his investigation of c!Tommy's prison death, he refused believe c!Ranboo was responsible even though evidence pointed to him.)
^ But the keyword about that is probably. If you remember, he didn't let c!Ranboo off the hook for betraying him during New L'Manberg, and that's because he had Hard Evidence that c!Ranboo was a traitor. The Prison Death was mostly his own speculation as far as he could tell, but with the NLM betrayal, he had it in writing.
This c!Aimsey conflict is one where he has Hard Evidence that c!Ranboo (or really Ghostboo) is at fault. c!Tubbo knows this new person has no reason to lie, and believes c!Aimsey that Ghostboo gave up the mansion. So... If he is aware that this conflict is essentially just "Ghostboo gave this new person our mansion without asking me", how do we get to a canon death from that ??? Where is his logic-brain?
Because (and this is my second point) for a long time now, c!Tubbo's character has hinged on not wanting conflict. Him exiling c!Tommy, Doomsday happening, him barely fighting his own death in the disc finale, him saving the horse in ho16... The only reason he went after c!Sam when c!Ranboo died was to get his son back, and he did lock c!Sam in the prison but he didn't kill him, something c!Tubbo had every right to do.
C!Tubbo doesn't handle conflict through violence. He never, ever has, even when things got hard. And I know that characters are supposed to evolve and change, but watching him not (technically) raise a hand against the man who killed his husband and kidnapped his son, only to kill a random person he just met right afterwards just seems so anticlimactic.
And the argument I guess could be made that it's supposed to be anticlimactic, but either way there is just no buildup to it at all imo. Maybe if he had been more cruel to c!Sam in the revengers stream, it would be showing us that he is gradually losing his kindness and humanity, but as it stands him killing c!Aimsey is completely out of nowhere for his character, because yes it's easy to assume this is a side effect of him grieving a dead loved one Yet Again but we haven't actually been given much reason to think that.
Even if the death was an accident, as in he meant to duel not to kill, I still have a hard time believing it's in character. You're telling me the person who watched his best friend in the world get a life taken in a duel over a sentimental item right after he joined... Would do that to another person? c!Tubbo, who is always comparing himself to the bad people in his life, somehow wouldn't see that he was doing something that directly parallels what c!Dream did to c!Tommy once? Or he would see and he'd be okay with it?
I'm not saying that c!Tubbo wouldn't kill someone, and to be clear, that isn't the reason I dislike this plotline. I'm not confused that he'd be violent or kill someone, I'm confused because he's been in dozens of situations where he has more than every right to be violent, and hasn't taken the violent route. So it's weird and jarring for him to suddenly act to violent to an innocent, especially right after ho16 drove home the point that c!Tubbo wants to protect innocents.
This of course is all compounded by the fact that as far as I've heard, that death was canonized by Aimsey after the fact, and that Tubbo didn't know it was a canon death. This is not Aimsey neg, and I may make another post about this, but as of late c!Tubbo's character has been dictated a lot by metagaming/questionable rp etiquette. And if cc!Tubbo is fine with that then it's fine, I'm not saying that any ccs are Bad or Ruining the character or anything like that. I just think the fact that he never intended for it to be a canon death in the first place speaks a lot to how in-character it seems.
Also, before I wrap up, I promise I have seen many many many explanations for why this makes sense in-character. Personally I like the explanation that he was trying to toughen c!Aimsey up so they'd keep up their guard. c!Tubbo has every reason to dislike newcomer's at first, because historically speaking they don't really bother to learn their history and often jump to defend the man that wants c!Tubbo dead. So the explanation that he'd duel c!Aimsey as a way of saying "Look, here's what happens on this server when you take something of someone's. They won't all be as nice as me, this is your test round," does make sense.
The only thing for me is that all of those explanations feel a lot like the fan explanations of why c!Tubbo didn't know his own son was missing - it's the fans trying to explain away a plot hole/mischaracterization caused by people canonizing things without putting in thought to how every character is affected by it.
This is just my opinion on all of this, if you like this plotline and think it makes perfect sense that is completely fine. I am not trying to say this plotline isn't canon, that it shouldn't be canon, or anything like that. The only thing I'm trying to express is that I'm personally not a huge fan of it, and thought it felt off for his character, but everyone is entitled to feel however they like about it 👍
(Also, this is not crit of any ccs. Just because I don't like a writing decision that does not mean the ccs aren't well within their rights to make that decision, these are their characters not mine. However I will be tagging character crit and the word "negativity" just so people can filter things like this out.)

Scream VI Movie Review
Tumblr media
Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. The film serves as a sequel to Scream (2022) and as the sixth installment in the Scream franchise.
There was so much to love about the latest installment in the Scream franchise, which is a must-watch for me. I enjoyed it from start to finish. I was so excited to see Samara Weaving starring in the opening scenes, as I had absolutely loved her in Ready Or Not with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The opening is fun, interesting and different, and I really loved how it was changed up a bit in this instance. It certainly added an extra level of drama and intrigue to the narrative. The casting was great and I enjoyed the addition of the new characters, including those from Tony Revolori and Dermot Mulroney.
What I especially loved about Scream VI was that we got more of a chance to really connect with the characters that were introduced in the previous film. Whilst I had adored Sam immediately, and also liked Tara, for the most part I found the new characters kind of boring. That changed for me in this film. The characters were more well developed and their interactions with each other were much improved. That being said, Sam is still easily the most entertaining character and I loved that the narrative delved a bit more into her psyche. I can’t wait to see more of her. Whilst I was devastated when I learned that Neve Campbell would not reprise her role as Sidney Prescott (though understandable), I was excited to learn that Hayden Panettiere would be coming back as Kirby. There were plenty of moments for Kirby to shine throughout the narrative, and though it seemed a bit random to bring her back as an FBI agent, I think it worked well both in terms of character development and driving the plot forward.
The change of scenery from Woodsboro to New York City because the characters are going to university is reminiscent of Scream 2 – and this is not the only point of comparison between the two films. It’s interesting because Scream VI is technically the sequel of Scream 2022, so these are clearly deliberate choices. I won’t go into details because I would hate to ruin the film for anyone, but as a massive Scream fan, I didn’t just enjoy the narrative, I loved picking out all of the parallels, and certainly there were ones I missed that people pointed out to me later on. That’s part of the fun of Scream, because it’s so meta and self-referential that there are countless elements of the film to enjoy.
As always, I enjoyed the thriller elements, and the suspense that pervades the entirety of the film. There were plenty of fun reveals and twists, and I did enjoy the final fight scenes, even if some of it was predictable. There were certainly elements that I had guessed correctly, but the writers definitely tricked me a number of times. It made sense in the end, which is all you can ask for.
My review for Scream (2022)

Currently rotating a Parallels AU in my head where Future Romane travels back instead of Future Bilal, Part 1:
Neither of them ever got over it. Romane is clinging to a sense of normalcy that hasn't been there since she was fourteen. Bilal isn't even trying to mask his desperation to undo the past anymore.
They argue. Not often, and not loudly. But the raw emotion in the hushed words still makes them both feel slightly sick.
They are bound by shared love and shared loss, and these are the very things that are looming over them like ash clouds over a burning forest.
Romane insists that she's accepted what happened, and she can almost convince herself. She pours everything she has into making sure her kids are okay. She works a job she doesn't necessarily hate. She hugs her son, and she smiles while she's video-calling Camille, and she teaches her daughter how to fry an egg, and she talks with Bilal about topics that don't make either of them cry. Because she refuses to lose anyone else.
She goes through the motions of her life, and she tries to ignore the fact that none of the hurt is settling like it's supposed to. She doesn't talk about it. She tries not to think about it. And she knows Bilal is worried, but it evens out, because he's been working late and spacing out a lot more, and she feels like there's something building up inside his head that's going to hurt him, so she's worried, too.
Then he tells her. He tells her what he's been thinking about, and she knows she was right, that this is going to hurt him. Because she's a realist, and this idea isn't real. No matter how much she wants it to be.
Bilal insists that it could work. And she knows he hasn't moved on, she's always known that, but literally trying to reverse the past? That just might be the lowest point either of them have ever reached, and she wonders how they got here.
But they keep talking about it. For some reason, she keeps hearing him out. And the more Bilal explains, the more numbers are run, the more theories they discuss? It starts to sound plausible. And that line of thought is so, so dangerous, but…what if they could fix things? What if she could fix things?
Then comes the catch, of course. Several catches, actually. The chances of surviving time travel are slim. The chances of ending up in the right timeline are even slimmer. And the chances of actually managing to fix what had gone wrong? Practically nonexistent.
And yet. If it worked, if they got a one-in-a-million second chance…they could save Sam and Victor. They could probably even save her mom. And if there was still a chance, if no one was actually gone forever, then what kind of friend would she be if she abandoned them? What kind of daughter, sister, person?
But even though the roles of daughter, sister, friend are still written into the core of her being, Romane is also a mother. And she would never put her kids through the grief she had been through. They weren't going to abandon the kids, she tells Bilal. No matter what, their kids couldn't lose both of their parents.
He agrees, of course. The idea of bringing the kids into the bunker is briefly mentioned, before being immediately discarded by both of them. Too dangerous. Risking their own lives was one thing; risking the lives of their children was another entirely.
That left one option. Someone had to stay; someone had to go. It was only a question of who.
The answer is obvious. Bilal never got over it. Bilal already had the technical knowledge about the ERN tests. Bilal could go back, and Romane could stay with the kids, and-
And then what? One of them asks the question quietly, and neither are sure who it was, because the words are far more important than the speaker.
There is a pause. And then Bilal says what she won't, that he isn't the only one who hasn't moved on. Because she can convince Camille that she's fine (over the phone), and she can convince the kids that she's fine (until they're older), and she can almost convince herself that she's fine (almost), but she hasn't managed to convince Bilal. Because he was there, and they went through it together, and they both know.
And Romane has less to lose; the only people she really has left are Bilal and the kids. And Romane has more to gain; her mother, her sister, her best friends.
The answer is not the obvious one, but it might be the least painful for both of them. She asks him if he's sure. He responds that he doesn't think either of them have been sure of anything since they were fourteen. She laughs, and the sound is hollow.
So it's settled. They have a few months to prepare. Bilal teaches her everything she might need to know about the ERN tests. She writes letters to her kids. They tell Sofia and Lieutenant Retz, and they help them plan for the aftermath of her disappearance.
The night before, Romane cries, and Bilal cries. The kids are asleep, and she won't see them again, but she hugged them for the last time an hour ago, and that will have to be enough. Bilal will take care of them, and he'll tell them everything one day. And she won't be around to see her kids grow up, but this isn't about her. It's about the people who need her. That's what it's always been about.
So they go to the bunker, and she hugs Bilal, and she hugs Sofia. Bilal presses an envelope into her hand, and asks her to open it once she makes it. If she makes it, that part goes unspoken, but they've spent enough time thinking about the risks, and there's no turning back now.
She nods, and she smiles, and she grasps his hand. And he smiles, and he nods, and he lets go.
And she walks in. And the door closes. And Romane lets herself hope.
And then she's back.
Here's the thing: by some coincidence, by random chance, she doesn't lose her memory.
And that changes everything.
Well. That and the fact that nothing ever happens the same way twice, so Bilal doesn't disappear from Sam's timeline, leaving Sam and Bilal as 14-year-olds, Victor and Romane as 17-year-olds, and the other Romane as an adult.
But here's the other thing: this version of Romane hasn't lived through the timeline where Victor kills Sam. Technically, she's currently in that timeline, which means that even though she knows how to bring them back to the start, she doesn't know about Victor's spiraling emotional state. Yet.
But that doesn't come into play yet. Because right now plot is happening, and eventually everyone reunites.
And that's where things start to get really interesting.
They know when the next test is. They know how much time they have. As long as nothing goes wrong, they'll be fine.
*cue montage of everything going wrong in rapid succession*
I'll probably make a part 2 to this that shows exactly what changes from canon in this AU, which is...a lot of things. It gets really chaotic, and really emotional, and I have not been able to stop thinking about the potential themes and plotlines of it.

Thoughts on 2x06 aka iBuild a Team
Gonna jump right in and say that the episode did not disappoint. The pacing was done right and the plot was both entertaining and essential to so many aspects of the show. I know Josh Peck is only set to appear twice this season but I’m hoping he becomes a recurring character who’ll show up about 3-4 times a season.
First, let’s talk about the main plot. I think it was good of the show to address the business of the characters’ lives. With Freddie’s start-up taking off, we really should ask if he still has enough time to help Carly with the web show. It has slight parallels to the original when they were trying to get help from others and the dynamic just doesn't seem to be working out. To add, even though Sam was not explicitly mentioned in the episode, I like to think that the importance of her presence in the iCarly team was hinted at. The team was always mainly the trio, so with them down to two, it really is more difficult for Carly and Freddie to brainstorm and have balance amongst workload.
Second, the subplot. Though really entertaining, unlike 2x05, I did not particularly enjoy this ep's subplot. While I did like to see it be a bit focused on Harper, it was simply all over the place. I think Harper deserves her own main plot soon enough because of how interesting her life is (from a trust fund baby to a barista to stylist). The mention of Dutch gave me a thought that she might eventually come back, which is exciting to see. However, Millicent being reduced this season is overly disappointing. I wish to see her have more agency like she did in season one eps—the one with Gwen, the Sunshine Girls subplot, and her helping Spencer convince Freddie in the finale.
Third, the callbacks to the original show. From the very first scene we saw The Sack! Again, Sam wasn't explicitly mentioned in the episode, but minor details such as these somewhat serve as manifestations of her presence and how the characters are remembering/thinking about her. I have to give it to Nathan Kress for fighting to keep the claustrophobia callback. Details like these were woven so neatly in the show in a way where old fans like me would have a fun time with recalls but new fans won't necessarily have a hard time understanding. Also, I liked that Mandy mention. I wonder if we'll ever see her again?
Finally—and I know y'all are waiting for this—let's talk about the progress of romantic Creddie. I love how things are being taken slowly. It seems as if Carly doesn't really have intense jealousy yet, which is okay with me as I want a build-up. On another note, it was good to get to see Freddie's side of their situation. So far, we have more hints on what Carly feels so it is interesting that despite the maturity and solid platonic relationship Freddie has with Carly, he still feels minor jealousy with specific aspects such as iCarly.
Now I'm not saying that Freddie necessarily feels jealous in a romantic sense, but iCarly is a familiar safety net for Freddie. Career-wise, he'll always have it whether Kevin fails or not. Love life-wise, and I am gonna steal this insight from someone on YouTube whom I forgot, the show was technically built by Freddie. He built it not only because he saw talent in the two girls who eventually became his best friends, but also because of his intense crush for Carly. That crush he had eventually turned into genuine love (both platonic and romantic), so his attachment to the show has a lot of factors and layers. We can see this hint through the tarot bit which, although was slight entertainment factor, showed a lot about Freddie. I still don't know how their romance will play out, but one thing's for sure, we have already established groundwork for the intense drama.
To end I just want to say that I'm really excited for what's to come with the show. Adding to that, my sincerest apologies for this late post. The elections in my country were in play and the presumptive results took a toll on me. Side-note, if you've read up over what's happening in the Philippines, please do. The whole world must know how the situation is right now.

Which Is Your Favourite Spiderman?
Every individual has his way to chill and relaxing either on weekends or after their busy schedule. Some hit the gym, some listen to music, some go and grab a cup of coffee with a book, while some go watch a movie. And as there is a change in viewership of the audience in various genres of films to types of films. That is where Marvel Cinematic Universe utilized this opportunity in the best way to expand its storytelling uniquely. By starting the Marvel Cinematic Universe initially and unifying the characters of the Avengers. But as the audience's anticipation and interaction with all these movies went on increasing slowly and gradually there were entries for new characters. One of the prime characters in this Marvel Cinematic Universe is Spider-Man and below are the transitions we have observed on the big screen.
Transitions From Sam Raimi To MCU
Though the TV Shows of spiderman did create a huge fan following and buzz on creating great superhero content in its time. But Sam Raimi’s spiderman transformed the way we could visualize superhero movies. And the legacy continued till The Marvel Cinematic Universe, but no one knows the journey behind it. Hence below are the mentioned pivotal character we saw in the evolution of spiderman :
 Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman
One of the first technically superior spider-man movies of all time. But the reason for it being superior is not just the technological advancement or the way it was shot and presented. It was the original storyline that was been followed by the Marvel comic books. But the character or film is incomplete without the right cast & Tobey Maguire & William Defeo have played pivotal roles. To bring the real essence to the characters of Spider-Man & Green Goblin. If you are a true fan of spiderman and you wish to purchase such marvel collectibles india or marvel figurines india then you can find these at marvel shop india.
 Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman
We were all aware of the cartoon series Amazing Spiderman, though the base of it was od spiderman. Yet the storyline was a bit different, the same goes for the movie Amazing Spiderman. Which had the essence of spiderman the storyline, screenplay & tonality was different. Also introduced villains which were uncommon and not been seen in cartoon series as well. But Amazing Spiderman circles more around peter’s real parents and the mystery in Oscorp which connects peter to a new dimension of villains. If you are a true fan of spiderman and you wish to purchase such marvel collectibles india or marvel figurines india then you can find these at marvel shop india.
 Tom Holland’s Spiderman
At the time Tom Holland’s Spiderman has come on the big screen, the pillars for character establishment and backstory of spiderman was already played by other. That is what has an opportunity to marvel studios to explore other parallels for content. As spiderman was not just gonna be a standalone character but be a part of a larger cinematic universe. The costume and storyline were a major upgrade, but following a story with a direct connection to the heart. Not only by developing a storyline through Tom Holland but also by grabbing the opportunity to fit the right characters in the multiverse. If you are a true fan of spiderman and you wish to purchase such marvel collectibles india or marvel figurines india then you can find these at marvel shop india.

There's not such a thing like 'too much help'
Legolas x Reader
Word count: ~1,5k summary: you want to master your archery skills so bad but Legolas is far too excited about it in the beginning TW: none
AN: my first piece for this fandom ever, enjoy and I hope my style and language have changed a bit over these 5 moths lmao
(gifs are not mine)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"C'mon Y/n, you got this".
Legolas whispered to you, while you were taking aim at a deer at the forest. "Take a deep breath if you need to". he was beside you, squatting in silence, as you were sitting at your knees trying to find stable position to take a shot "It's okay, now slow—"
You released the bowstring when he touched your elbow in case to make it paralleled to your left arm.
"Damn!" the arrow flew next to deer's head and fell into the bush. "Legolas!" you turned your whole body to tell him how incredibly annoying he might be sometimes.
"I almost get it, if it wasn't for your touch!" you stand up on your feet and pushed an elf. Legolas fell but fortunately for him there was a squishy grass he was standing on. "Please, let me do it myself, for Eru's sake!"
Legolas, for a true word, might be hyper help giving when you were trying to improve your skills in archery. Even when you didn't ask him for help, he always was there telling what you were doing wrong and cheering you up when you get something right.
It wasn't a secret to anyone, you wasn't god at archery. To be honest, you weren't an excellent worrier in general, sometimes you though Merry and Pippin were doing better than you fighting on swords, sparring with Boromir or Aragorn. But you were highly appreciated in the fellowship for another, very important and technically hard skill: you had an extraordinary navigational and stalking skills. Aragorn himself wasn't that good at navigation being a ranger for years, so the fellowship was looking after you and guarding you as it was you who wore the ring on your neck.
"I’m just trying to help you, mellon nîn". Legolas approached you on your way back to the camp, where everybody was desire a slice of meet in their mouths. "Don't act like it’s my fault, I wanted to point out your mistake".
You said nothing back, just made a grimace and sat on a fallen tree nearby the fire.
"It seems no meat today, huh?" Boromir said with a smile of pain, breaking off a piece of lembas elves of Lothlórien gave you. "Yeah, I'm fine with this elvish bread again, that's okay".
Legolas threw a little rock at him. "Stop it, Boromir!"
"Everything is fine!" you heard Aragorn's voice back from the shadow of the trees. You didn't even noticed he wasn't there by the fire. "I shot some rabbits", he threw three rabbit's carcasses in front of Boromir. "that's not much but we won't starve at least".
Sam immediately took his pan off his bag and started to skin little carcasses.
"Ahhh!.." he exhaled. "If only we had some potatoes..." hobbit placed the rabbits on the pan, seasoned it and sat next to the fire. "My potatoes are the best in Shire!" Sam was patting the pan randomly with his tiny wooden spatula, head cocked on one side, he exhaled once more.
That was your turn to watch the camp this night, but Aragorn volunteered to help you, as he felt the kind of sadness in you after another pointless try to shot something.
"He really does believe in you, Y/n". he said, as he was cleaning and sharpening his sword, sitting next to you. "Don't be angry at him".
Aragorn only heard your exhale as you looked over the camp and lingered your eyes on sleeping Legolas.
"I'm not angry at him, no". After a moment of silence you sad, your voice was quiet and a bit sad. "I am..." you paused to take a deep breath and swallow your ego. "...envious of his skills". Aragorn smiled. "He's doing it so naturally, like he was born with bow and arrow in his little hands..." at the last words you started mimicking newborn's gestures, curling your fingers.
Aragorn was going to tell something like "don't be, he has the best mentors in Middle Eath" etc etc but someone touched you by the shoulder and you shivered. What a watcher who let someone to come so close without noticing...
"This is technically not true", the words fell like music, that was Legolas, who woke up hearing you two were talking. "I wasn't any better than you in the beginning, actually". he sat upon a rock you were sitting at and glanced over you with a little smile. "I just want you to know it's not that easy to master archery".
You wrapped your fingers over the bow that was hanging on your back a fair second ago and looked back at Legolas, but your face was stone cold.
"But look at you..." you bent your bow slightly just to feel the straightness of the bowstring. "I bet, you can shoot a squirrel in an eye without even looking at it."
It was obvious you were really envy. You always wanted to be good at archery, since your brothers had been taking you with them on hunting, but not for you to kill animal but to stalk it. They rarely, if at all, brought home some food if you weren't with them looking for animal. But you wanted to hunt. And valar did their best for you to met Legolas, as long as there wasn't anyone better than Legolas Thranduilion at art that was called archery. It was match made by Eluvatar itself: an absolute archery nub and Legolas who wanted to help you every time he saw you.
"I've been learning how to use my bow since my very childhood, mellon nîn, so only a little bit more than two thousand years". He smirked and you force a little laugh in return. "And you're doing great, for you just started practicing your skills properly. You are natural." Legolas stood up and took few steps to his place. "We can practice tomorrow while our little friends will eat their second breakfast". He smirked again but you hardly saw it in the dark.
He left you keeping your watch but he planted a warmth feeling inside you, some hope and faith. You perched upon a rock the way the warmth of the fire could still reach you but you could see the area that was surrounding the camp. You take off the bow again just to feel the weapon and you couldn’t wait for tomorrow's practice. You should've tell Legolas that you didn't mean to offend him earlier this day, but something stopped you while you were talking. So you couldn't wait to apologize as well.
The next day you did as he told. While Sam, Merry, Pippin and Frodo was eating their sEcoNd breakfast you were practicing with Legolas. And this time you were patient and thankful. You listened to what he was saying carefully and tried to do thing as close as he was showing.
"You almost got that rabbit, did you see?" Legolas was extremely excited, he looked like he was even more elated than you were. "A little more practice and you’ll get it y/n".
You smoothed your hair, you didn't really needed that but you tried to hide your face behind your hand just to Legolas couldn't see that you'd blushed.
"You have far too much faith in me". you laughed at him in shyness.
"And you have far too little". For just a moment you saw the fire of adoration in Legolas' eyes and that fire captivated you, so you jumped where you were standing when Legolas embraced you, since it's not very common gesture among elves and you hadn't expected him to hug you. "You'll see you get it".
"Yeah, with the teacher like you, I surely will get it". The words you said were almost inaudible, you only felt the warm air leaving your mouth as you spoke.
Legolas and you were laughing and trying to practice a little bit more as you heard a wild cry from the camp. You immediately forgot about the practice and jokes and run on the top of your strength to help your friend.
"The growling!" Legolas shouted running in front of you.
"The wargs!" Your friend nodded, jerking his head in manner of telling someone to hurry up. But you stopped absolutely terrified. You saw wargs just ones and only in distance and now you had to fight them, fight for the lives of your friends. Their growling plugged your ears and your fingers and legs went numb for a solid minut.
You came back in sensation when Legolas was almost at the camp and you could see him bending his bow in such grace that only elf has. You climbed up on a rock and saw Aragorn, surrounded by two wargs with the rider on one of them. You didn't even think, you hadn't have time to think, you just bent your bow and losed an arrow, hoping you won't kill Aragorn instead of a goblin. The second left, you felt the stares: everyone, especially Aragorn, was looking at you in awe. They doubled their aweness when you shot the second goblin while everybody else was staring at you forgot about the battle.
When you and the fellowship killed other goblins and wargs, your friends started to congratulate you on your first kills.
"I told you!" Legolas was happy as he never was. "You just killed TWO goblins, not just one!" he again embraced you and you again went numb a bit from frustration. "I'm so proud of you, Y/n".
"I couldn't kill anything, if not for you huh" Shyness overtook you and you bit your lip, while your cheeks were becoming more and more warm. "Thank you so much, Mellon nîn - you tried to say it in Sindaring and won a big smile from Legolas".
From then on, you was the one who hunted for the fellowship and you were watching horizon with Legolas when the fellowship needed to be protected at all fronts. When the horizon was clear, Legolas still was showing you some techniques and when you were messing up, there wasn't any arguing, but only silent laughter from both of you.
An: that's all, that is the first story for LOTR I have ever wrote ahah (it was hiding in my drafts for at least 5 months, I guess) hope you liked it at least a little lmao

no because your thing about nat having a side character death is so painfully true. so much so that everyone who isn’t a natasha stan, just forgets that she died to save the universe the same way tony did. and the fact that yelena was clearly the one to get her a gravestone (because it said sister, no one else knew about her family except them, and it’s under the trees like her mother’s was) meant that not a single avenger gave more than those few tears at the lake for her. at best(hopefully), we might get a little honouring for her at the barton household in the hawkeye series that’s it. steve shed two whole tears, bruce was solemn that he couldn’t bring her back, tony didn’t even fucking realise he was her family, and thor who didn’t have much of a relationship with her anyways, got a little angry. that’s it. and everyone that was currently snapped at the time gave us NOTHING. sam didn’t mention her once, which was honestly awful considering they were friends, and anthony loves natasha’s character. wanda, who nat genuinely cared for so much and worried about so much during their nomad days, had two words to say to clint about it. not to mention we even had t’challa acknowledge tony’s death despite barely knowing him/not liking him, even though he was actually friends with nat before and after she helped steve in CW, to the point where he let her stay in wakanda while she was a fugitive once they made up. and technically bucky doesn’t count because they barely touched on their shared history (but like also she still saved him multiple times, and would have interacted with him in wakanda after he came out of cyro), but we got nothing from him too.
natasha’s relationships with people (besides clint, and occasionally steve and bruce) often felt so one sided because she loved them all so much and they rarely batted an eye at her, and the way they treated her in endgame just solidified that. natasha worked her ass off to take care of each and every one of them, keep the team together, especially after civil war, and was honestly the glue of the mcu, and yet nothing.
anyways thanks to clint and yelena for being the only bitches to love her as much as she deserved.
All of that is true and you should say it!!!
I just think we shouldn't put it too much on the characters, if that makes sense. Like, Natasha's death in-universe wasn't Clint's fault (which is why we can't really get excited about Yelena going after him, he really really tried to save her) but narratively, it is - she had to die so he could live. I know it's hard to distinguish but for me, it's really the narrative and the structure of the movie that didn't give the characters more place to mourn. Like you said, casual viewers just forget Natasha died, probably already by the end of the movie, and that's because they didn't give her death the same impact as Tony's. Her death literally mattered less than his and that's just telling the audience that she mattered less than him. I think the characters come across as not caring enough to us but to the writers, it was the appropriate amount of mourning she deserved based on how important they thought she was, and that's not a lot.
This also shows in the movies and shows after Endgame. TFATWS didn't mention her even once even though she would have fit in at several points - neither her sacrifice nor the SHIELD data dump nor her role in Civil War, not any brainwashing parallels to Bucky, Sam literally says "Steve and I were on the run for years" without mentioning Nat was with them, Sharon didn't mention her once, she wasn't even in Bucky's victims book even though he tried to kill her three times. And the TFATWS story works totally fine without her because they didn't feel the need to address it any way. Meanwhile, Spiderman Homecoming is about Tony's death to an almost absurd amount, and that's because Tony's death is important(tm) and they expect it to matter to us and that's why they feel like they have to talk about the consequences even in future movies (see also that quote from the Eternals trailer about who leads the Avengers now that Tony and Steve are gone- they mattered. Nat didn't). Imagine if Tony or Steve or Thor would have died somewhere in the middle of Endgame - that wouldn't have worked, right? They wouldn't have dared get rid of them like that. But for Nat, it's okay because the implicit understanding is that she's just a side character and so she can die like a side character, too.
That's just my interpretation, of course- if your interpretation is that the other characters didn't care about her as much as she did about them, that's perfectly valid and angsty and good! I just feel like they're constantly telling us (through the narrative and the characters behaviour) that Natasha and her death shouldn't matter all that much.
I wasn't really upset that Nat died - characters die all the time, hell, Loki "died" in the first Thor movie and look where he is now - I'm mad because her death wasn't made to matter and they seem to think that's the appropriate weight the end of her arc should get. They could bring her back anytime if they wanted to. They just expect us to be okay with what she got and honestly, it seems like a lot of people are.

Colby had never been to Baltimore before. For as much traveling as he and Sam have done over the years, they had never made it this way. Colby wondered briefly if there were any interesting haunted locations. There probably was. The east coast had a lot of weird shit. After all, wasn’t this the place where Edgar Allan Poe died? Surely there had to be enough places to visit for an entire season of Sam & Colby. After all, if the father of gothic literature died there, there had to be a lot of things to work with.
In the day, though, like a lot of places with haunted locations, Baltimore didn’t look particularly frightening. It was actually kind of nice. And Colby would have found it enjoyable had Sam and Bucky not been making the entire journey there tense as hell.
It took everything in Colby to not step in between them and try to resolve the conflict. Which was odd, because he was typically the kind of person to avoid other people’s conflict. But ever since this whole adventure started…It was like he was almost too in-tune with other people’s emotions. And now he wanted to make things better when things were going horribly wrong.
Was this something to do with the moon? Because, as far as he could tell, his powers were kind of shit. At least Sam had strength that could almost rival the Flag Smashers. And Lux had the power of the sun—she could literally blind people, burn them. What could he do? Change the tides? The MTD said that his powers would be intuitive but, why couldn’t he make them work? The only reason he didn’t get his ass completely handed to him during the fight was because he had some basic karate training (which, admittedly, wasn’t as helpful as it could’ve been, since he hadn’t exactly been keeping up with that).
“Hey, it’s Black Falcon!” a kid shouted at them as they walked down the street. “What’s up?”
Sam looked over at the kid. “It’s just Falcon, kid.”
“No, no,” the kid said. “My daddy told me it’s Black Falcon.”
Sam stopped, standing in front of the kid. “Is it because I’m black and I’m the Falcon?”
“Well, technically, I mean, yes.”
“So, are you, like, Black Kid?” Sam asked. The kid’s friend laughed while the kid rolled his eyes. Sam nudged the friend as he walked past, laughing, “I got him, right?”
“Whatever, man,” the kid muttered.
Meanwhile, Bucky was walking up to a house, climbing up the stairs to the porch. He still hadn’t told them why they had come all the way out here. Colby was honestly more surprised that he let them come along this far. As far as Colby could gather, Bucky wasn’t exactly a trusting sort of guy. Though, he was exactly in a position to kick a gift horse in the mouth, so he kept his mouth shut. Colby wasn’t exactly sure of the danger of ruining this, but he was willing to bet he wasn’t in a position that he could ruin this and it’d be okay.
Bucky knocked on the door, him and Sam standing in front of the door while the three of them stood a few feet away. The lock clicked, and the door opened. A teen boy stood on the other side.
“We’re here to see Isaiah,” Bucky said.
Who the hell was Isaiah? Colby didn’t recognize the name.
“Nobody named Isaiah live here,” the teen said.
“Look, we just want to talk to him.”
“You must not hear what I just said. You ain’t getting in this house.” When none of them made a move to leave, the teen said, “Y’all can leave now.”
Bucky stared at the teen, like he was debating for a moment on what he should say, before sucking in a breath and saying, “Tell him the guy from the bar in Goyang is here. He’s gonna know what that means.”
After a moment of silence, the teen said, “All right, wait here.”
The teen shut the door, and Sam said, “Nice kid. How do you know this guy?”
“I used to.”
“That’s not vague at all,” Blondie-Sam said.
Bucky glanced at him, then further elaborated, “We had a skirmish during the Korean War.”
The door opened again, and the teen came out. “Today’s your lucky day. He said he wanna see for himself.”
The five of them entered the home. An older man stood on the other side of the room. If Colby had to guess, the man went through more than just a war. He’d seen veterans before. He’d seen Korean War veterans before. But none of them looked like they’d been through what this man had gone through. There was some sort of look in his eyes, some sort of tiredness that was only apparent in people who’d quite literally gone to hell and back. It was almost like the look in Bucky’s eyes.
“Isaiah?” Bucky said.
“Look at you,” Isaiah said.
“This is, uh, Sam.” Bucky glanced at the three of them and said, “And that’s Colby, Lux, and, uh, Blondie. Everyone, this is Isaiah. He was a hero. One of the ones that Hydra feared the most. Like Steve.”
“But he wasn’t treated like a hero like Steve.” Everyone looked at Colby, eyebrows raised. “What? People don’t live out here, hiding in their house, if they were treated like heroes.”
Bucky ignored him. “We met in ‘51.”
“If by met, you mean I whupped your ass, then, yeah,” Isaiah said. Something close to a smile appeared on Bucky’s face. “We heard whispers when he was on the peninsula, but everyone they sent after him never came back. So the U.S. military dropped me behind the line to go deal with him. I took half that metal arm in that fight in Goyang, but I see he’s managed to grow it back.”
It took a colossal amount of effort for Colby to not laugh. He glanced at Blondie-Sam, whose shoulders were slightly shaking as he contained his own laughter.
Isaiah continued, “I just wanted to see if he got the arm back. Or if he’d come to kill me.”
“I’m not a killer anymore.” It sounded more like Bucky was trying to convince himself. No it didn’t. Right? Colby was just making shit up…Wasn’t he?
Isaiah seemed to be on the same wavelength as Colby, because he said, “You think you can wake up one day and decide who you wanna be? It doesn’t work like that.” He paused. “Well, maybe it does for folks like you.”
Bucky’s eyes flooded with pain. But he continued on saying, “Isaiah, the reason we’re here…is because there’s more of you and more out there.”
What? Another Super Soldier? What the fuck was this?
“You and me.” Isaiah’s voice shook slightly, as if he was doing everything in his power to contain his anger.
“And we need to know how,” Bucky said.
“I’m not gonna talk about it anymore,” Isaiah snapped.
For a moment, Colby considered stepping in. He wasn’t sure why the urge surged through him, but it was overwhelming. It took every fiber in his being to hold back, to not jump in like that. And he was glad he did because, in the split second it took Colby to restrain himself, Isaiah had grabbed some metal container and threw it at the wall, where it stuck.
Isaiah walked towards Bucky. “You know what they did to me for being a hero? They put my ass in jail for thirty years. People running tests, taking my blood, coming into my cell. Even your people weren’t done with me.”
“Isaiah…” Sam started to say.
“Get out of my house!” Isaiah shouted.
The teen started to usher them out of the house as Bucky turned, already beginning to leave. “Let’s go, man,” he said to Sam. “Let’s go.”
Sam practically sprinted away as they walked down the stairs.
“Sam—” Bucky started to say.
“Why didn’t you tell me about Isaiah?” Sam asked. “How could nobody bring him up?”
They all walked down the street. Colby could practically feel the anger rolling off of Sam in waves.
“I asked you a question, Bucky,” Sam snapped.
“I know.”
“Steve didn’t know about him?!”
“He didn’t. I didn’t tell him.”
Sam stopped, grabbing Bucky and making him look at him. “So you’re telling me that there was a black Super Soldier decades ago and nobody knew about it?”
Colby flinched as a siren sounded, a cop car approaching them. He wondered if it was because of the fight in the street. If things were going to go south quick.
The car stopped and a couple of officers stepped out. One of them said, “Hey.”
“What’s up, man?” Sam said.
“Is there a problem here?” the officer asked.
“No, we’re just talking,” Sam said.
“We’re fine,” Bucky added.
The officers came closer to them. One of them said to Sam, “Can I see your ID?”
“I don’t have ID,” Sam said. “Why?”
“Man, seriously?” Bucky said.
One of the officers' hands fell to his belt, inching closer to his gun. His other hand extended toward Sam, the same way a person would try to stop someone from attacking them. “Calm down, sir.”
“I am calm. What do you want? We’re just standing here talking.”
Bucky cut in, saying, “Just give him your ID so we can leave.”
“No. I’m not giving him shit. We’re just talking.”
A crowd started to gather as people filed out of their homes to look at what was happening.
“Is this guy bothering you?” the officer asked Bucky and the trio.
“He’s not bothering us. You are,” Colby said before he could stop himself.
“Do you know who this is?” Bucky asked.
The second officer moved towards the first, whispering, “Hey, these guys are Avengers.”
The first officer looked between his colleague and Sam. Then his eyebrows raised, his eyes going wide, his jaw dropping as he realized who he was speaking to. “Oh, God, I am so sorry, Mr. Wilson.” He chuckled nervously. “I didn’t recognize you without the goggles. I’m really, really sorry about this. The—”
A second cop car pulled up, sounding its siren for a second.
The cop sighed. “Guys…Just wait here, okay?”
He walked up to the other car, speaking into his radio.
While they waited, Bucky said, “I didn’t tell anyone because he had already been through enough.”
One of the officers came back, saying, “Mr. Barnes, there’s a warrant out for your arrest.”
Sam shook his head. “Look, the president pardoned him for all that.”
“Not for that.” The cop explained, “You missed your court-mandated therapy. It’s like missing a check-in with your PO. I’m sorry, Mr. Barnes, you’re under arrest.”
Well, shit.
Tumblr media
It was almost refreshing. Being in a police station but not being the one arrested. Granted, Colby only had the one arrest under his belt, but still. One time was enough for him. It wasn’t an experience he was eager to repeat any time soon. Still, though, the waiting wasn’t very fun. He wasn’t quite sure how long they all had waited there until there was word that Bucky had been bailed out.
Now, there was some woman walking up to them, and Colby got the feeling that he wasn’t going to like her.
“Sam. I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m Dr. Raynor. I’m James’s therapist,” she said.
“I don’t think that’s very professional,” Colby muttered to Blondie-Sam and Lux. “Doesn’t that go against the hippo rules? Identifying yourself as a patient’s therapist when they’re not around to consent?”
“It’s HIPAA, doofus,” Lux said.
“...what did I say?”
Sam stood up, extending his hand towards Dr. Raynor. As she shook his hand, he said, “So nice to meet you. Thank you for getting him out.”
“That was not me.”
“Christina!” a voice shouted.
Colby groaned. “Not this guy again.”
Dr. Raynor glanced at him, as if questioning who he was in all of this, before looking back at Walker and Hoskins.
“It’s great to see you again!” Walker said, posing for a few selfies with people.
“You gotta be kidding me,” Sam scoffed. “You know him?”
“Yeah, we did some field ops back in the day,” Dr. Raynor explained.
“I heard you were working with Bucky, so I thought I’d step in,” Walker said as he walked to them. “Bucky’s not gonna be following a strict schedule any longer.”
“Uhh, I’m no therapist, but isn’t it a bad idea to make a guy who has serious trauma cut out therapy cold turkey?” Colby asked.
Dr. Raynor nodded, saying, “We haven’t finished our work. Who authorized this?”
“Um…” Walker pointed at himself, as if it were obvious.
Meanwhile, Bucky was walking towards them, having finally been released.
“He’s too valuable of an asset to be tied up,” Walker continued. “Just do whatever you got to do with him, then send him off to me. Got some unfinished business, him and I. You four, too. I’ll be outside.”
“Okay, we need to work on this whole being demeaning thing,” Colby said. “First Sam, now Bucky? You’ve got a whole lotta audacity, man. Tone it down a couple notches.”
Dr. Raynor turned to Bucky. “James, condition of your release, session now. You too, Sam.”
“That’s okay. I’ll be out here with—”
“That wasn’t a request.”
The three of them disappeared into an interrogation room, leaving Colby, Lux, and Sam alone. Colby turned to his friend, saying, “Alright. Well. Is this going right or should we be concerned?”
“Well, I haven’t gotten a call that we’ve fucked shit up yet, so I think we’re doing well,” Lux said. “I was checking the projections on the drive down here, and it seems like we’re approaching the proper way of things. But we’re still not in the clear yet.”
“So, we just need to keep doing what we’re doing?” Colby asked, and Lux nodded.
“Hold on, what exactly should we keep doing? Because I don’t see where this is headed. Because us working with Walker isn’t going to end well, if that’s where we’re supposed to be going,” Blondie-Sam said.
“I don’t think we’ll be working with Walker,” Lux said. “But, you never know. What we need to keep doing is making sure Sam and Bucky form some sort of friendship. They need each other. And Sam’s never going to pick up the shield until he hears Bucky’s way of thinking, and Bucky’s never going to give Sam the space to make his own decisions until Bucky realizes that he’s hurting more than he’s helping.”
“And in the meantime, don’t die,” Blondie-Sam muttered.
“Well, yeah. That would help,” Lux said. “We just need to make sure Bucky doesn’t do anything too rash between now and Sam picking up the shield.”
“What’s the worst that could happen?” Colby laughed slightly. “Bucky goes rogue and breaks a criminal out of jail in there? As if.”

I don’t get this. Deena and Sam thought they beat the curse, they all were moving on, they gave the police Kate and Simon to be the “killers”. Why did Goode write her name on the wall? Did he want to tie up loose ends? He played himself. If he left it alone no one would have known.
The real answer is, as ever, because then there wouldn't be a trilogy.
But since making Fear Street make sense is my latest obsession: it's a punishment thing. For getting away with it, for a minute, and thinking they could do that. No one denies him. I mean yes, they are a loose end, and know too much. But we know Nick's ego and frailty, and I've said before that Deena living loudy and refusing to back down and kissing Sam at the station wasn't just a Sarah Fier parallel but something that he took personally.
And not just bc she's gay, but because his family ethos is one of repression, silence and conformity to circumstance. He's bound to the Pact, he had to give up Ziggy and a normal life and being honest and living authentically. Seeing Deena, a "disposable" Shadyside kid best him and do that? Fearlessly? With a gf that should never have gotten to "escape" Shadyside and "pretend to be a superior" Sunnyvaler? Oh yeah in his mind they gotta die.
Not to mention, they believe there is a possibility for survival due to Ziggy. But she only got there because of Nick and his desire to keep her alive. It's not something that's meant to happen. Kinda funny that him bending the rules then and not compromising on them in 94 all came back to bite him in the ass, hard.
(Technically he let Nurse Lane slide, even though out of everyone including Ziggy she knew most re: the Curse, but I think he found her a non factor that everyone would think was just crazy, a Shadysider nobody. It would, in fact, be more suspicious if she then died violently and suddenly. But Deena, and feeling time and Ziggy slip away, blinded him. Add in good old Goode ego that says it'll work because it always works and there you have it).

More Soul Eater AU:
Current weapons: Tubbo, Phil, Ranboo, Wilbur, Karl, Niki, Quackity, Skeppy, Ponk, Punz(?), and George.
Current meisters: Tommy, Eret, Technoblade, Sapnap, Dream, Bad, Jack, Puffy, Purpled(?), Jschlatt, and Sam.
Alright, so yeah, Quackity’s going to be a weapon. In fact, he’s going to be like Tubbo, a multi-weapon. He can transform into a pike, a recurve bow, and a dividable chakram. Possibly more, he’s still learning.
Why? Cause shapeshifter and weapon genes, obviously.
However, almost nobody knows this. Few people do in general, and when he joined the server, and eventually the election, he decided to get to know everyone before he let it slip. So as far as the majority of the server is aware, he’s just a recurve bow.
He did tell Tubbo though. The kid had just been separated from his meister and now had to deal with a bunch of stuff. It seemed a bit unfair, so he told him and helped him out, The two are close, even if their relationship is a bit strained after Doomsday.
Despite being on a team with Sapnap and Karl, he mostly self-wields. Not really ready for a meister again, after Schlatt. He’s considering telling them about being a multi-weapon though.
Phil’s a scythe. Scythe fit better than claymore, and he self-wields more than not.
Still lost on Wilbur, help.
Karl’s a fancy lantern, like with those fancy, ornate patterns, that hang from a metal staff? His lantern form is white, but the flames are usually the colors of his hoodie, and Sapnap can use him like a flamethrower, as well as fight with his staff.
At the Masquerade, there were duels that involved making the fight look  beautiful and elegant as well as defeating your opponent to win, as a sort of party game, and James wielded him.  They won by a long shot, using Karl’s flames.
Niki’s a sabre, because it looks elegant, and I’m also pretty sure it’s a pirate sword, and Puffy becomes her meister, eventually.
Skeppy is a pair of twin daggers, because Bad’s a knife thrower, and he literally’s a diamond golem. So now he can be a pair of diamond daggers too. He uses this to cause trouble, repeatedly.
At least he did. After the egg, he isn’t often see in his weapon form, and when he is, he almost seems weaker.
(Are his blades...cracked...?)
No idea what Ponk is either, but Purpled wields him in fights, until he and Sam partner up, maybe?
George is a long bow. In weapon form, arrows made of energy are formed to attack a target. They can also conduct a soul wavelength, allowing it to be shot out to attack the target.
Tubbo’s gonna be a xiphos sword for his third form. I like the parallels too much, and it leads to some angst later on with Tommy trying not to be Theseus and refusing to use that form, so that’s fun.
Several ideas ideas for Purpled and Punz. One being that Purpled and Punz are kind of like Maka, being both meisters and weapons. They used to wield each other back in the day, but have grown distant sense.
Or, both weapons able to wield each other because of the bond. Sword and shield, maybe? To match? But this would mean Tommy’s technically the only meister of the minors, which is kind of meh..
The third is simple enough. Purpled’s a meister, and Punz is a weapon. Simple, and not complicated, and evenly divides the minors.
All the minors can wield each other. Their soul wavelengths are all incredibly compatible, so if push comes too shove, well, these four have each other’s back.
Because the minors need to be closer and support each other, guys. Honestly.
Also, the thought of them all performing a Team Resonance is cool, so.
After Eret betrayed Wilbur, he wouldn’t let anyone wield him afterwards, no matter what. It also led to him doubting and second guessing himself more often. Acting as Eret’s weapon, shouldn’t he have known what they were planning? Shouldn’t he have been able to see?
Schlatt being a former meister of his did not help when he and Tommy were kicked out.
George was cursed by a witch before the SMP, it’s why he sleeps so much.
Dream can inflict Madness. How? I dunno yet, but he can.
Kishins aren’t common here, but the few that do come into being are usually mobs that manage to kill other mobs and take their souls. These kishin mobs are usually undead ones, though you get the occasional creeper and spider kishin too. The undead ones don’t have souls to feed on, so unless you were a death weapon before, chances are you won’t become one on the Smp with a lack of kishin souls.
Think I’m gonna make Fundy a witch, if only to put him at odds with George, who doesn’t like witches, because again, one cursed him. Then they can get over their dislike of each other and bond over Dream being a jerk. Maybe even pair up?

         CHARACTER PARALLELS  —   ICARUS VOLATI
Sam Seaborn  (The West Wing)
Known as the idealist in a cast full of idealists, Sam is a gifted speechwriter devoted to the role of public servant he occupies as a member of President Jed Bartlet’s staff. He is more poet than politician, offering an earnest creative counterweight to the tactical minds around him, though his technical skill with words makes him a formidable debater as well. Passionate, kind, a bit of a perfectionist, and determined to use his position to change the world for the better, Sam Seaborn neatly reflects Icarus at the start of his career.
Annie January / Starlight  (The Boys)
Annie is another idealist, genuine and sweet, who is offered her dream job only to find that the people she had once looked up to are the furthest thing from heroes. Her disillusionment and subsequent struggle to hide her true feelings while searching for a way to use her position against her employer are a fantastic mirror of Caro’s public vs. private feelings about Nemean News and the Rhea corporations as a whole, and she showcases the balance of gentleness and ruthlessness that Icarus is moving toward.
Peeta Mellark  (The Hunger Games)
The thing people tend to forget about Peeta Mellark is just how smart he really is, particularly when it comes to manipulating public opinion - a skill that Icarus shares. He navigates the fine line between beloved and overlooked, quietly fighting to retain his identity and sense of self even as he knows he’s being used. Principled and devoted, Peeta is a lover in much the same way as Icarus, making himself into a solid foundation for the people he cares about.
