How God makes you happy: protecting who you love

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her [...] He who loves his wife loves himself.

Things I can't wait to say to my future wife:
Darling I'm home
why don't you sit on the floor and rest your head in my lap while I read us this book
Thank you for the meal love. It was delicious
would you dance with me?
go make sure that the kids are asleep and fallow me to the bedroom
you're the light of my life
never seen a pregnant woman looking this gorgeous
Wanna take a shower?
I make the decision here and you fallow them.
You and the kids are my responsibility.
Get the picnic stuff ready. I took tomorrow off so I can spend the day with the most important people in my life. You and the kids.
I love you

The Start of a Long Journey
I have always been religious. I was brought up in a loving Christian household, taught wrong from right, given materially what I needed for success, and was sent out into the world. And,
It wasn't enough. Even though I always strived to do what was right, by the law and by the church, I would always fall miserably short. From the outside it might have looked like I had it all together; a guy with his degree, pursuing a masters, working a fulltime job, engaged to a good girl. All the while I was rotting away on the inside. But why?
Even though I had faith it was shallow. I had no real appreciation for the God I called my own and it was the realization of this that lead me to dive back into my faith and I was astonished at what I found. I found a plan set out by God and the Saints of how to best structure my life and to life in the way that I was intended to. Even just reading the description of how a man ought to be according to scripture filled me with so much joy despite not even having begun to make the changes necessary. I knew then like I do know that I had to become the man I saw in the scripture, it was not only crucial for my sanity but most importantly for my salvation.
There is a reason why we were given these commands, and a reason why all of our ancestors followed them. Because this life creates a yearning within us that will bring us closer to the Father and bring harmony to our earthly relationships. In this way, tradition is not the veneration of ashes, but the preservation of fire!
Even though I have been striving towards this goal for the last year, I am still only at the very beginning of my journey. It will be the objective of this blog to take you all with me as I stive to become a man who is in the world, but not of it.
May Christ have mercy on us all,
-Stephen

Treat your wife better than you treat anything or anyone. That’s your covenant with God. That’s your first ministry. To love her the way Christ loves the church is a high calling. If you fail at that, you’ve failed at everything.
― Paul Washer

Dust kitties :)
[ID: fist image: a digital drawing of a black fur ball with tiny triangular legs, triangle kitty ears, one cat eye in the middle of it’s face and a small tail.
second image: the same creature as described before drawn with pencil, there are five of them, in the upper left corner it is yawning, showing off the sharp cat teeth it has, in the upper right corner it is looking up, looking interested, in the middle it has a “smiling” eye, lower left corner it’s playing with a yarn ball, pupil dilated, lower right corner it is sleeping, curled up, eye closed. end of ID]
