Very loose sequel to this story but not really necessary to read it, I'm just in love with Wrath interactions with Cain and Abel.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Despite the clicking of wooden wheels and other various toys across the creaky floorboards, Wrath's attention was locked on its hand. The pain from a near week and a half ago was finally disappearing, it could move its hand fine now without a burning sensation spreading from its starting point all the way up its arm, even sometimes settling right in the middle of its chest. While beyond grateful for it feeling better, though a scar marked forever reminding it, Lucias couldn't deter its fascination in it.
Even when with its father, forced to preform horrendous battles even some residents of Hell turned away from, it never suffered such an injury, and it certainly never lasted as long as this had. It's hand raised a little barely letting its fingers brush the scar, sucking in its breath and holding it, as though anticipating more pain from the simple action. It's ears perked immediately hearing the sound of someone coming closer, not footsteps it noted. It's head snapped up startling but in just enough time to see Nyx, or Gluttony, there watching Lucias with a little tilt of her head.
"It huwt?" she asked, brows furrowed gently in concern.
Lucias blinked, still growing accustomed to concern and care for its well-being, after the surprise wore down, it shook its head, "N-no... no, it doesn't hurt," it assured, before quickly opting for a subject change, not wanting the youngest child to be worried, "what're you playing?"
"What are," Cain corrected, voice distracted by the flipping of his page, then a pause glancing to Lucias, the red-haired male hesitates then holds his hand out to the child, "you were messing with it. Surely you aren't lying now? Does it still hurt?"
Lucias hesitates a moment, watching Cain's outstretched hand, almost expecting him to lose patience and simply snatch the appendage but when it doesn't happen quite that way, it can see the growing irritation on the oldest family member's expression though, it places it in his hand allowing Cain to finally survey the still healing injury. As he does, Lucias finally offers a verbal answer.
"No Uncle Cain," it murmurs, voice just barely loud enough to be heard, it's gaze cautiously locked on Cain and his small movements with its hand.
Cain eventually hums and releases the child's hand in favor of stroking Nyx's hair a bit as if silent praise for being so considerate. His gaze quickly finds Lucias though, eyes narrowed, "That was very foolish and very dangerous of you, you know. There could've been much worse consequences than that. You best never pull a stunt like that again. Most don't make it back when they make that mistake," he scolds again. It's the same warning Lucias has heard anytime its scar had been looked at.
Lucias's eyes drift back down to the scar, intrest piqued once more, especially as it fully starts to consider Cain's words.
"Why doesn't anyone come back from making that mistake?"
Cain pauses then grins, canines glittering almost mischievously, humming, "How about a story time to answer that riveting question?" Nyx squeals in excitement, prompting Cain to lift her up and sit her on one knee, then arch a brow towards Lucias. The child considers a moment before crawling closer to Cain, simply propping its chin up on his knee. Cain seems satisfied with this compromise, leaning back into his chair as the fire crackles to fill the anticipation, suddenly seeming louder than it was before.
"This story begins long ago... back when the world was just created," he waves his hand in a sideways motion, suddenly the brief description comes to life in a little tear like portal of sorts, a power Cain and Abel only seemed to reserve for the, now three, children of the house.
The view is a picturesque of a land that seems partly wooded and partly desert, "God had already created man and woman," he hummed as the two beings appeared. The man was blonde, tall, strapping nude in all but a bushings wrapped around his waist, and next to him a female with long, curly black hair, also covered only by leaves around her waist, hiding her breast in her arms.
"Together they created the first children of the Earth, naturally. The firstborn was a very handsome young man who tended to the grounds of this new world," he hummed, a third figure appearing that bore striking resemblance to Cain, if he looked younger, red hair curled perfectly around his face yet the top still sticking in to almost as if form two horns, no longer were they just clothed by leaves, now wearing some cloth though it was obvious that it wasn't necessarily tailored as Cain liked to wear now.
Nyx giggled excitedly, pointing to him, "Look! Look like you D- Uncle!" she corrected, though the mistake didn't deter her excitement in the notion.
Cain chuckled then nodded, rubbing her back, "Excellent job darling, and yes, he does. See, it is me," he hummed, smug smile pulling at the corner of his lips, "I am the firstborn son of man," he hummed, but the self satisfaction doesn't last long as he sighed, "but the peace couldn't last as they soon had a second son, that blundering, brain dead dolt, Abel."
Sure enough the forth figure appears, a younger looking Abel. While still wide in stature and gap toothed, hair still black like the first woman's yet styled to look merely more frizzy despite attempting to look combed back, "That spineless ninny herded sheep, something we honestly could've had a dog do twelve times better, but I digress... we were to present our offerings to the lands creator. Whereas I offered vegetables and fruits that I grew by hand, mind you, Abel--the little suck-up-- gave his best sheep as a sacrifice."
As he explained, the visual story telling followed dutifully along, showing now Cain and Abel across from each other. On some stone slab in front of Cain were vibrant fruits and vegetables where Abel's table like item, not too far away from his older brother's, laid a slain lamb limply laying out as if it were only sleeping.
"The creator, however, liked that buttdumpling, oversized jelly gutted moron's sacrifice more..." all three could sense Cain's anger rising at the still bitter jealousy, Nyx frowned in worry, leaning closer to him nervously. Cain paused a moment then chuckled darkly, resuming his soothing stroking of the little girl's back, as well as sparing a hand to pet Lucias's black and white hair, minding it's horns. While the storyteller kept silent, the image continued to play like a movie, depicting Cain eventually bashing Abel's head in with a rock, the very first murder of fellow man.
Cain's smile had returned through this, though there was an eerily dark vibe practically radiating off his expression, one that didn't put either child to ease, Nyx even hiding herself in Cain's chest with a small whimper about halfway through the beating. Cain hummed softly, "Surprisingly, it didn't take long for everyone to notice the pathetic, spastic cretin I call a brother, went missing. The creator approached me," he gently tapped Nyx's back to assure the little girl that the gore was over, as the pictured scene changed to a masdive light comimg over younger Cain, "and asked, 'Where is thy brother, Abel?'... to which I responded, 'I don't know, am I my brother's keeper?'" he hummed gently.
""Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground' the creator insisted, he banished me, dooming me to forever wander the Earth..." Cain finished moving hid hand to cause the pictures and what was projecting them to disappear, "but not before giving me this," he pushed his bangs up revealing a perfect circle marked on his forehead.
Both kids looked up at it in awe, "What does it do?" Lucias uttered almost in a whisper. Cain gave some scoffing noise before letting his hair flop back down.
"Makes me invincible. Well, practically. See, for my deed, the creator wanted me to suffer, likely with guilt or something nonsensical like that... letting some buffoons kill me off was far too kind... so this mark makes it that no one can so much as hurt me, lest they suffer sevenfold.. I've seen people die for disobeying it, meet the angel of Heaven's wrath for it.... what you suffered, my child, is no more than a love mark," he scoffed, "but we're not going to have a repeat, yes? We're going to be well-behaved children, and not raise our hands to Uncle Cain... I dread to imagine how that would go down.. the wrath of Heaven meeting the wrath of Hell..." he shook his head to clear the idea.
Lucias's eyes traveled back down to its scar, pausing before a meek smile pulled at his mouth, tugging it upwards, uttering after a moment, "So... we kinda have that in common, Uncle Cain? Your mark and my mark, as a reminder?"
Cain opened his mouth to protest but quickly found the notion right, even if loosely so. He couldn't help but chuckle and nod, "Yes... yes I suppose so, my child," he hummed, "bah, you've distracted me from my book. How about another story, hm? Have I told you about the reanimated zombie with a mysterious pact to the Elder God?"
Nyx giggled excitedly shaking her head, Cain held her closer as he started the haunting tale. Lucias paused a moment, before its smile grew, laying its chin on his knee once more to listen in as well.

"Children! The mail!" Cain called from the bottom of the stairs. Mina heard doors and chatter as all the other sins as they went to collect whatever their uncle had for them. She was surprised, however, to see Lux not eagerly getting up like he normally would. The crown adorned sin always seemed eager for any chance to go racing down the stairs, but this time he was oddly still and tensed, looking down at the Legos he'd been building with beforehand trying to seem distracted but Mina knew that look. He was simply trying to avoid whatever mail there was.
She opened her mouth but before any words could come out, Cain's voice rang out again, easily more annoyed, "Greed. Mail. Now!"
Lux gave a whimperish-whine, rolling his head back in frustration that his little plan was foiled. Mina frowned slightly, brow arched, still she gently tried to encourage him, "Hey, it's alright. You can keep playing in a moment, ok? Just go get whatever your uncle has for you real quick. We don't want you to get in trouble."
Lux whined again, ducking his head in attempt to hide tears, "I don't want to! I already know what it is and what it's going to say!" he groaned, "I-I just wanna build..."
"Well, he won't be happy if you don't come down. You don't want to get in trouble, right?" Mina coaxed, "Cmon, I'll even go with you."
"No!!" Lux cried out right as she was going to stand up, the blonde jumping to his feet, "I-I'll go! Just don't go too. Please don't go too!"
Mina furrowed her browser gently but she sighed softly, "Hey, it's ok. It's alright. I won't go. You go get the mail and I'll be right here when you get back, ok?"
Lux sniffled slightly nodding a little bit, as he turned to go to the door but before he could reach it there was an agitated knock, "Greed. I know you can hear me, little boy. Open the door and get your mail. If you need help reading it and understanding it, I'll help you," the last part of Cain's words had an almost mocking, condescending edge to them. It made Mina arch a brow further and Lux's face to flush deeply signaling he heard the tone too.
Lux whined again softer, but obediently made his way to his door opening it, a defeated look on his still red face.
"There he is," Cain chuckled, holding a letter out to the blonde sin, "these came in. Be sure to let us know what it says, surely even you can handle that, hmm?"
Greed's face flushed deeper, condescension still obvious in Cain's voice, "Yes Uncle Cain..."
"Oh there's a good boy," he snorted, ruffling Lux's hair, "keep an eye on him, Mina dear, and please do make sure he doesn't forget to tell us what the letter says, it's important for our records... though I'm sure we all know what it'll be," he chuckled, offering a dismissive wave as he walked off.
Lux gripped the letter, tight enough that it wrinkled in his grasp, slamming the door shut, he marched towards the desk tossing the letter down before plopping onto the bed, abandoning the Legos in favor of hugging a pillow to his face. Mina sighed softly knowing this as a good old fashioned Lux temper tantrum, the silent kind (the loud kind easily resembled the kind a toddler threw and was a kind she was just as accustomed to by now).
She got up sitting next to him on the bed, "You not gonna read the letter?" she hummed softly.
Lux hiccupped slightly into the pillow shaking his head, "Noooo!!!"
"Your uncle wants to know what it says," she gently hummed.
"Already know what it says! There's no need to look!"
Mina sighed, realizing she wasn't going to get anywhere with him acting like this, she stood up and walked towards the desk, while she wouldn't go open the mail, she figured she'd at least look at the envelope to see if there was any suggestion to why he was in such a mood. She picked it up, scanning before frowning in confusion 'Classification Co.'
She glanced to Lux, surely with him being immortal he would've already been classified, she brought the letter with her, sitting back on the bed, "It looks pretty important, Lu, I think you ought to check it out..."
Lux whined peeking his head out, green eyes widening as soon as he saw that she had the letter. He immediately sat up, snatching the paper from her, "No!! No!!! I know what's it's going to say!! I don't want it! I don't want it!! I don't!!!" he yelled, arms flailing up in down in a fit, "I want to burn it! I want it to disappear!! Disappear from my life!!"
Mina easily had a guess what it said too, it was a thought that hadn't ever occurred to her though, classifications being the least of her concerns. She never even dwelt on her own for long, she gently furrowed her brows, "Lu, are you a little?" she asked gently.
Greed's lip trembled at this, a wail leaving him as he tossed the letter aside, collapsing into his pillows once more to muffle the tantrum. Mina frowned gently, feeling the more caregiver side of her classification take over, sighing as she scooted over, closer, rubbing his back gently.
"Hey, hey.... shhh.. it's ok..."
"Its not!!" Lux wailed working himself up further, swinging his legs now with only caution to avoid hurting Mina, "Its awful! It's terrible!! I hate being a little! I try and try and try and try to change it and it doesn't work! It never works!! All the others got theirs changed overtime! But mines always been little! Just little! I can't even g-get like an alpha little or beta little!! It's not fair!! Not fair, not fair, not fair, not. Fair!!" he sobbed into the pillows.
Mina winced realizing now that he ranted he'd either settle quickly or be next to impossible to console, but she knew she at least had to take a shot at the former option.
"Hey..." she cooed gently, "You're working yourself up, love bug, can you look at me?" Greed hiccupped but obeyed, lifting his head a little bit to look at her, tears rolling down his awfully red cheeks, Mina offered a gentle smile, "Aww, there he is, a sweet little one..." she soothingly cupped his cheek, rubbing the tear track gently, "being a little really isn't that bad..."
Lux hiccupped, "I-Its annoying a-and childish a-a-and you aren't gonna wanna be my fr-friend no more!!"
Mina chuckled softly, "And why wouldn't I want to be your friend anymore, little one?"
Lux hiccupped again, followed by a pitiful sniffle, "'Acause... w-who wants to friends w-with an annoying baby?"
Mina smiled gently, "I've managed it this long," she lightly teased, "plus, you want to hear a secret?" contrasting his miserable and embarrassed expression, Lux nodded with a little twinkle in his eyes, to make it feel more special to the blonde boy, she whispered, "I'm a caregiver..."
Lux blinked sniffling slightly, then he started to giggle a little bit, "S-sounds like Mr. Destiny had a play in our meeting!"
Mina snorted, relieved to see him calming down, "Maybe he did," she murmured, "so I'm curious... how do your guys classifications work..? You mentioned being able to change them and... all sorts of things, surely you'd been classified before this, you had to have been...."
Greed sniffled, rubbing at one of his eyes, "I have.... it's a lot like the mortal classification... but since we're immortal, they redo it every thousand years or so, since a person can change a lot in that time.."
Mina nodded slightly, she supposed it made sense, "So like... how often do you slip?" she asked softly.
Lux's face turned red again, knowing why she asked, he fought against tears wanting to swell up in his eyes again, reminding himself that Mina already said she still wanted to be his friend despite his class, "Um.... a lot... usually just try to stay in that middle space.."
Mina hummed, "And when you fully slip, how old do you usually get?"
"Th-three to five, usually.."
Mina nodded, watching Lux who was avoiding her gaze like the plague, face still glowing bright red. She chuckled softly, "Hey.." she murmured, kissing his forehead gently, "I already told you there wasn't anything wrong with being little... I don't mind, ok? I'm not going anywhere," she promised.
Lux slowly brought his gaze up to hers, then suddenly flung himself at her, hugging onto her, "Thank you..." he whimpered, "everyone else just teases me for it or takes it as an opportunity to dismiss what I say.." he mumbled.
Mina hummed, wrapping her arms around him in return, "Of course bud... you got nothing to worry about with me," she promised softly.

Helloooo! I saw that your requests were open for Hazbin- how about a reader who's a seraphim? Kind of Lucifer's protégé/child way before the creation of Eden, Adam, and Lilith.
And he just kind of left them up there alone and neglected because of her association/kind of Dad!Lucifer. So, it's kind of angsty seeing as how Lucifer was a better Dad to Charlie and the reader grew with envy and fell into that ring along with her brother (I've been seeing hc/rumor a lot) Cain.
What would happen their first meeting again? If this is too much I don't really mind so no worries! Have a nice day and thanks for reading!!
A/N: I’m sorry but I go by biblical too so this might be different but same concept and storyish
Like father like daughter
Lucifer x daughter Reader
Synopsis: Your dad left you young now you left him
How it started
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You are my Sunshine My only sunshine
You make me happy When skies are grey
Little you giggles at your father’s little song for you and only you. You were an angel whose mother was long gone leaving just you and your father. You made grabby hands towards him making his heart melt before lift you up.
“Boop” you cutely said as you boop his nose making him chuckle. “Boop” he said back making you giggle this time.
“Okay baby it’s time for me to go to work so Uncle Castiel is gonna watch you okay baby?” He asked you making you nod happily before rushing to your uncles arms.
You never knew that was the last time you would see him and with that you cried and cried for your dad until Sera and the other Angels showed you he forgot about you, he had a wife and daughter….
You watched as he singed the same lyrics he sang to you to her. You were only 5 and parentless watching your father abandon you but staying for another that his. That’s when you grew up odd with another angel. You were evil or as they say a bad apple.
You were Cain’s secret friend encouraging him to kill his brother Abel. That when you were sent down in hell where your dad is but you never cared to look for him finding some friends of your own.
You were older and more mature then her but she was the youngest, and you were the oldest. Does that mean you had to made the sacrifice to be left?
Even so it hurts and your growing hate towards your father and sister grew stronger by the centuries.
With Lucifer though he was trying everywhere to find you, You were no where to seen in heaven and no where on earth so you must be in hell. But even then he couldn’t find you.
You grew close to Cain when he came to hell after being full of pride and thinking he could live without God and with his punishment. You saw him as a brother the only family you considered. You were never gonna be ready to let your other family in your life and you meant that.
When you were both getting ice cream You heard something. “___!” you turned around to see lucifer huffing and puffing finally catching up to you.
“My Sunshine! Woah have you grown into a-” you punched him in the face. You the eldest of Lucifer punched him in the face and my god it felt great to do. Your unbelievable smile widen as you saw his pain. Call it fucked up as you will but you almost laugh on how pathetic he was and to believe you looked up you him.
“Don’t… Don’t call me that. I thought we both grew out of that nickname a long time ago” You mumbled before turning away from him having nothing else to say.
“___ I was trying to protect you! Don’t you understand I was going to come back for you. I-“COME BACK TO ME? NOW THATS BULLSHIT “DAD” BECAUSE SPENDING TIME WITH YOUR OTHER BORN WAS NOT LOOKING FOR ME” You interrupted him turning into your full demon form Lucifer looked at you in shocked and stunned.
“I was 5 waiting for my own father to come home” You stated calmly as Lucifer looked at you with tears in his eyes.
“Please give me another chance, I love you too much to let you go” He pleaded taking you hand but you yanked it straight away.
“You gonna know how it feels to let go of the person you” You growled before walking away from him.
“You’ll never know dear, how much I love you. Please…. Don’t take my sunshine away” He prayed as tears slipped down his eyes reaching out to you knowing your already far from him. knowing he lost his firstborn hurt
“Daddy! teach me how to dance!” A little you say as Lucifer looked up as a little you held your hand towards him he tried to reached but then you just faded. That little girl was long gone the moment he didn’t take you with him.

garth ennis sometimes tries to write characters who are good people. being that he himself is not a good person, and is in fact shit, he fails at that. spectacularly. but evil is evil is evil and while he does manage to fuck that one up as well pretty often his villains sometimes end up being infuriatingly interesting :/

Okay, the next one might be a bit controversial for some folks, yet I still choose to be cringe & free rather than mean, so here goes!!
Spcial thanks to @breedtheseed for helping me build my own courage to post mpreg stuff with her wonderful, tender /and spicy, hehehe/ art!
Since Lucifer is able to shapeshift, he's surely can do the same to others, right? So, fallen deeply in love with each other again after years of Adam being a sinner, they got married and started thinking about kids eventually.
Surprisingly, Adam was the one to express his willingness to bear their kid. I personally think it's due to his past trauma with Abel and Cain. He wants to be a better parent, even though he knows he can never fix it for his first sons.
Lucifer is overwhelmed with love and typical parent anxiety all the way through Adam's pregnancy. And I bet, one day he decided to check their future baby's gender himself by placing his palms on Adam's belly and using some magic. Only to find out, that Adam bears twin boys🥺
We made this all up with my friendie! So its up to her now to design the seconnd boiii, but here goes Luca, designed by me🥰 All the translations will be under the sketch!
Tumblr media
Luca – 1 y.o ——> 240 y.o :
• has a chirrup between tooth and fang
• probably wants to be on stage, be a singer
• loves his dads and siblings a ton
• also loves to party a ton

Because sweet Uncle Abel has me absolutely melting, take an idea that I've been hooked on to for the longest time
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Athena bounced from her little heels back to her tip toes then back on the heels of her mary jane buckle shoes, looking down at her assigned outfit, black and white all except for a thin line on the collars, sleeve edges, and skirt end which was purple, her given color to represent her sin. She was pleased at the perfect symmetry, being one of the children to be extremely fussy over her looks. She smiled at the thought, the reminder of exactly what she was waiting on.
Raven had occupied himself with a book, and she didn't want to be too clingy. Cain had locked himself into the library 'organizing it' he claimed (though all the kids knew that such matters were much more up their other uncle's forte), which did simply leave Abel who was finishing up with the dishes. She'd been waiting oh-so-patiently for the rushing of water and the clinking of plates and silverware to cease signaling her perfect opportunity to plead for the dark haired caretaker to play with her. Finally hearing said chance, she immediately rushed into the kitchen with a delighted giggle.
"Uncle Abel!" she chirped, keeping her voice sweet even in her excitement, hoping it'd be enough to sway the man into her game, gently clinging to his vest, tugging on it tenderly, "You're done? You're done with the dishes?"
Abel chuckled briefly, placing a hand on the blonde little girl's head, "Yes, darling, I noticed a little pair of purple eyes watching me as I worked, was there something you needed?"
Athena's face flushed gently hearing she'd been caught in her spying, but Abel's non-judgmental tone was enough for her to keep her big, endearing smile, bouncing on her feet again, "I was just wondering, since you're done, if you'd play with me? Please Uncle Abel?"
Abel glanced to the time with a small hum, a gentle smile pulling at his mouth with a nod, "Yes, we have time for a little game," he agreed, "what did you have in mind, little Pride and Joy?"
Athena's eyes absolutely lit up, trying her hardest to suppress her squeal of happiness, though she wasn't quite as quick to stop her excited little bounces, "Dress up! Dress up please! Pretty please Uncle Abel..!"
Seeing the little girl's practically glowing face, Abel smiled a bit more, unable to deny the request, nodding, "Of course little dear," he murmured, "lets go get your box of dress up items," Athena wasn't quick enough to quiet the giggles that spilled from her mouth, eagerly taking Abel's hand to guide him upstairs to her room, once there, she quickly got into her closet.
Finding an item she'd been looking for, she called out, "Close your eyes and bend down, Uncle Abel! Please!" she added. Abel arched a brow gently but did oblige to the little girl's words. Athena skipped over, keeping the item hidden behind her back, despite Abel not being able to see it anyways. Once close enough, she produced the little crown she'd found, she gingerly placed it on his head.
"Now, stand back up, but keep your eyes closed, please!" Abel snorted at her words, but again followed them. Upon rising to his feet, he felt Athena grab his hand and guide him over somewhere, he easily assumed to her little vanity mirror and desk.
"Ok, open them!" she chirped.
Abel did so and smiled once he saw the little crown, chuckling softly, "What's this for, silly girl?"
"Cause..!" Athena chirped, twirling herself almost shyly, "You're the king of my heart!"
Abel smiled softly at that, feeling his heart absolutely melt hearing her words, "Ohh darling, that is so sweet, thank you... but you know what a king needs?"
"Besides a crown?" Athena asked, head tilted.
"Yes, besides a crown," Abel chuckled, "he needs a little princess," he hummed, "let's go find a suitable dress, shall we?"
Athena's face heated up again but Abel wasn't too worried about it, as he could see the utterly elated smile on her expression, he held his hand out to which the little girl eagerly took it, Abel leading her back over to her closet, "Let's see now, what dress would you like, dear?"
"Mmm...." Athena hummed softly, "I want you to pick it, Uncle Abel. I wanna wear your favorite color..!"
Abel chuckled quietly, heart further melting at the little girl's sweet words, he shifted through eventually finding a deep blue dress, "Here we are, do you need help getting it on, princess?"
Athena giggled shyly, starting to fidget with the ends of her long hair, Abel smiled, right as she opened her mouth to timidly assure she could do it, he spoke up, "Oh my, how silly of me," he knelt down, "a little princess shouldn't have to lift a single finger," he cooed gently, "allow me, darling."
Athena's eyes twinkled at this, another meek but clearly joyful giggle leaving her, covering her face lightly. Abel smiled a bit more, extremely glad ge could offer Athena such happiness, "Here little darling, let your king get you dressed up all pretty," he cooed. He gently but quickly swapped the more school uniform type outfit for the extravagant dress, humming afterwards.
"There we are, anything else the princess would like to add before we parade around the 'kingdom'?"
Athena blinked in awe, looking up to Abel, who nodded gently in return. The little one could barely keep back her squeal this time, "A bow? Please?"
Abel hummed softly, "Absolutely," he agreed, looking in the little girl's bow drawer, finding a matching ribbon, tying it into a neat little bow for her to hold her hair up. Athena giggled excitedly, hugging onto Abel afterwards.
"Thank you Uncle Abel! It's perfect!" she squealed.
Abel smiled warmly, "My pleasure, now, shall we let the kingdom knows who their king and princess are," he cooed opening the bedroom door, even bowing a bit like a gentleman for the little one, "after you, princess."
Athena giggled a bit skipping outside the room and once Abel was outside the room she took his hand, eagerly leading him down the stairs and through a few hallways, only pausing at a familiar voice.
"Well, well, well... what have we here?" Cain called, in the doorway of the kitchen.
Athena's eyes twinkled further, skipping up to Cain, dragging Abel along who was trying now not to seem too embarrassed under his older brother's ever taunting gaze. Athena held one poofy corner of her dress, doing a little curtsy.
"Your king and princess decided to take a stroll through the kingdom!"
"Ohhh, I see," Cain hummed doing a deep bow to them both, "What a delight then to see our royalty out and about," he then held a hand out to Athena, "if I may, princess."
Athena couldn't seem to turn off her bashful giggles now but she still presented her hand to Cain's outstretched one. Once he had it, he gently pressed a kiss to her knuckles, rising back up afterwards, doing a smaller bow, "And the king, how lovely of you to get the little princess out. Its always something special when we see her.."
Abel smiled gently, eyes focused down on little Athena who was just glowing with joy now, "Yes, a special event for a special little girl.."
Cain hummed in agreement, "Would the little princess like a glass of warm milk? And perhaps tea for the king?"
Abel hummed softly, pondering a moment, he knew it was getting close to bed time now, but he didn't want Athena to feel as though the game was ending too early, but upon her catching his gaze and nodding eagerly, he nodded as well with a warm smile at her understanding, "Yes, I think that would be a wonderful idea."
Cain had insisted the two sit as he fixed the drinks as an 'ever dutiful assistant' by his own words (Abel knew he'd never stoop to the title servant willingly) but what caught him off guard was how easily Cain played along into the game, honestly having expected his older brother to let his pride or jealousy get the better of him. Still, he'd served the drinks to a perfect T, even ensuring Athena's was in a lidded cup to 'prevent any messes on her beautiful dress'. Athena, now nearly done with the drink was curled up to Abel, still drinking on the liquid to get it gone. Abel rubbed her back and hair soothingly in between sips of tea, humming softly.
Cain finally sat down, "I do hope you intend to give as much attention to Nyx or Raven tomorrow," he commented propping his chin on his knuckles.
Abel hummed softly nodding, intending to make sure all the kids got equal amounts of his attention, "I will," he assured softly, almost in a mumble as if to keep Athena from hearing, "Its just been a while. I thought Pride could use some attention... but I already planned on reading with Raven some tomorrow," he assured. Cain snorted softly in approval.
Athena pulled the cup out with a little pop, yawning afterwards as she looked sleepily up to her Uncle, "Uncle Abel?" she murmured, "Think I'm ready for bed now.."
Abel hummed kissing her forehead gently, "Let's get you in comfy pajamas and tucked in then..." he stood up cradling her gently.
Cain snorted softly, "Good night, Pride and Joy," he hummed standing himself to put the cup in the sink before he headed up himself to tuck Nyx in first. Abel bit his tongue as to not say anything, figuring he'd just let the little fantasy continue up in the little girl's bedroom. He undid the bow and brushed through her hair gently, getting her all comfortable in her purple and white fuzzy pajamas and finally tucked in with her precious toy kitty cat.
Abel pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, "Good night my little princess. Have the sweetest of dreams..." he whispered. Athena let out an utterly content and sleepy sigh, cuddling up into bed, her little eyes fluttering already. Abel hummed heading to the door, shutting the light off as he passed, automatically activating the light sensored night light which displayed a light starry purple onto the ceiling and walls. He went to shut the door and go to tuck Raven in, but as he started to shut it, he heard the smallest voice murmur.
"Good night my king... have.... sweetest dreams.."
Abel smiled, shutting the door gently as Athena drifted off fully.

Another Classifications AU, Cain's quite the jerk in this one and Raven is the only adult in the room
Lux was miserable, throughly embarrassed. It wasn't really the pacifier he'd had popped into his mouth, it actually would've soothed him, were it not for Cain's persistent patronizing comments towards the blonde boy. The uncles had been content to disregard the children's classifications at first, explaining that the first few were more protocol than anything and couldn't be anything to truly go off of. This was the first year they truly counted it towards and anything, and of course, Lux just had to have the luck of being deemed a little for the fourth test in a row. He wasn't quite sure what it meant, but if it was this then he wanted to avoid ever getting such a classification again. Cain's taunting was almost making it feel like it was something he should be ashamed of.
He narrowed his eyes at Cain who had insisted he 'sit down and play while uncle got some peace with his reading'. Now, Lux's imagination was never-ending, even now that he looked closer to his teenage years, so the instructions weren't the issue. It was what Cain had provided for him to play with. Baby's toys. Building blocks and a stacking ring, a baby doll with a few accessories, all things he was confident he hadn't seen since he'd turned 200 years or so.
"I don't hear much playing," Cain hummed, glancing over his book at Lux, a sickly sweet smile pulled at his mouth, "is someone fussy?"
Lux's face flushed deeply looking away in utter frustration and embarrassment, what didn't help was somewhere it also provoked a nice, warm feeling, "No! I just don't want to play with these..!" he motioned towards the babyish items.
Cain snorted then barked out a laugh, grinning sarcastically, "Oh why not? Those are for babies, and your classification says your a baby..." he shrugged loosely, "can't say I'm surprised. Those little temper tantrums you throw? Your little fantasy of being a little prince still? All of it screams little child... I had hoped you would outgrow it like the other children... but no. Seems someone just wants his uncles to baby him the rest of his life... and isn't it just precious?" Cain cooed the last part mockingly.
Lux felt tears unwillingly pricking his eyes, "It got it wrong!! I'll be something different next time!" he raged.
"Ohh unlikely, little one," he cooed, "littles are very difficult to change from even after so many years... not that I'd expect someone like you to understand such a grown up matter..." he chuckled mockingly.
Lux felt his face growing hotter and hotter, lip starting to quiver from behind the pacifier at the tone, and the conflicting feelings he felt towards it, "I do understand!! I'm n-notta baby..!" he hiccupped, shoving the tower that the rings were stacked on in his frustration.
Cain tutted, his eyes sparkling with cruel humor, "Those little tears show otherwise. And I do sense a cranky tantrum coming on. Come along, let's get it over with. Afterwards, I'll decide if a timeout or spanking will be more appropriate depending on how bad your little fit gets..." Lux hiccupped again before breaking into a little cry, losing his pacifier in the process which only made him cry harder.
"Ohhh dear, quite the fit already. Look at that, the baby lost his mute button too," Cain sneered delightedly. Caught up in his 'fun', he failed to hear Raven coming in to find a book for himself. Catching the tail-end of everything, Raven rolled his eyes.
"Really? You have nothing better to do than to pick on little kids? You're sure you aren't a little too, Uncle Cain?" he retorted, voice dull though raised as to be heard over Lux's wailing.
Cain's head immediately whipped around narrowing his eyes gently, "I don't believe I asked you, dear. Besides, a bit of teasing never hurt anyone. It may help toughen him up," he defended.
Raven rolled his eyes, "You told us it isn't something we can help."
Cain hummed softly, "Yes, yes. I did. And it isn't. You, my boy, just don't know how to have a little fun. He's going to have to be babied anyways."
While Lux had stopped his full crying at hearing Raven standing up for him some, his lip trembled anew at Cain's persistence, "D-don't wanna be babied..." he hiccupped, though his voice notably was a bit higher, indicating a slip.
Raven ruffled the blonde's hair gently as he passed by to go to a shelf, "You're fine, Lux. Uncle Cain's just being a jerk," he assured, "stand up for me, bud," he instructed getting a book from the shelf and turning to Lux.
Lux sniffled slightly, shuffling to his feet, Cain narrowed his eyes further, "Ah ah ah. Little ones need supervision."
"And I'll babysit," Raven shrugged, "cmon. Let it be known though. You touch my stuff, you're dead," he warned, retrieving the pacifier from the floor, handing it to Lux. The blonde took it with a little sniffle, slipping it back into his mouth. With a little motion, Lux followed after Raven. Cain smirked a bit once alone in the room, snorting.
"Little brats... damn if I'm not proud of one of them," he mumbled focusing back on the book, "though I do hope he foesnt get too accustomed to playing hero because lord knows Lux isn't changing, and neither am I."

the very long draft of the atla prequel fic i’ll never write
- title idea: oh, brother were art thou ?
- focuses on : iroh and ozai’s dynamic from childhood to the day he marries ursa. includes extras and dives into the fire nation royal family dynamic but it’s mostly about those two.
- inspirations: cain and abel’s story, the ballad of songbirds and snakes.
- characters included: iroh, ozai, azulon, the firelady ilah, ursa, iroh’s wife, ozai’s mistress. ( they will be named )
- characterizations :
iroh — sometimes we forget that iroh was the general. the warrior. the brother most familiar with blood and violent. iroh’s characterization should not shy away from that but also keep a core of goodness and questioning. he’s the one who should have a more reflexive internal monologue. it should be a growing difference between what he believes is right and what he actually does to the point where it breaks. the breaking point will not be part of the fic but it should be seeds planted yk? inspirations : regulus black, jaime lannister / faceclaim ideas : remy hii
ozai — the make or break character and the easiest to screw up ( i think ), too evil and the heart of the story is gone and iroh just looks stupid for loving his evil brother, not evil enough and it’s not ozai. his arc is not a corruption arc but the story of a man realizing he can get away with any atrocious act he decides to commit, his internal monologue lacks the reflexive nature of iroh’s, ozai never pounders on the right and wrong of an act only on how that could benefit him. as the brother who stayed home, ozai’s battle is mostly weeding out plots and schemes, of court drama and seizing power. inspirations: coriolanus snow, tom riddle, fc ideas: sebastian amoruso ( i know he played jet stfu ), dylan wang
firelord azulon — an absent father, i don’t care how his reign was, he is the definition of trying to rule with only force and falling ( being disliked by both high rankings and the people ), hard power ! he’s more of representation of a fire nation that looks down on weakness ( non-benders, women, children ) inspiration: tywin lannister
firelady ilah — a cruel mother who loves power but can possess none because she’s a woman so she tries to teach her sons her form of strength, manipulations, secrets, blackmail, iroh had more aptitude but he was azulon’s general so she had to make do with ozai ( who refuses to learn but will eventually ), she’s the bitterness of a fascist woman in a fascist man’s world. she’s frustrated in all ways possible and that bitterness turns to wickedness. inspirations: alicent hightower if she was like her haters think she is, morgana, walburga black. fc ideas: michelle yeoh
lady ursa — poor lady ursa, i haven’t read to comics and i don’t buy they are cannon so here’s my characterization of the pookiest of pookies. lady ursa was the daughter of important people, think courtiers, who never really wanted a child, ursa was also raised in palace along with many other high borns. she was also younger than ozai and a talented herbalist. she wanted to marry him and do her duty, he was good looking and a prince and she was barely sixteen. and she wanted out of her parent’s grasp. probably one of the most unlucky people in the story. at first ignored and humiliated before their marriage and after abused and controlled. inspirations: katherine howard / fc claim ideas : ashley liao, lola tung
aliya ( ozai’s mistress ) — this is a very self indulgent character bc i like parallels and the hope that some air nomads survived in secret and had children. aliya is this concept with the addition that she’s a performer on ember island who would really like a bridge to her ancestor’s culture and past but also probably is acutely aware of how she’s not the airbender she should be. she’s a dancer, she’s an acrobat, she’s artist, she’s vain and attached to material desires and smarter than she looks but also still just a girl trying to keep herself alive and her secrets secret. ( yes, ozai lowkey kinda kills her or at least thinks he and erased her and her family from history. snowbaird coded but also worse ) inspirations: lucy gray baird, satine / fc claim ideas : simone ashley
saori ( iroh’s wife ) — very minor character but all that can be said is that she’s no easy woman. she’s demanding of him after they are arranged together because she believes and sees that he can be better. she also grew up in the palace as a courtier and is known for being incredibly opinionated and sharp on her wit. inspirations: beatrice ( much ado about nothing ) / fc claim : jamie chung

A Lesson in Love - Bob
Pairing: Bob / Female!Reader (Referred to as Ms. T)
Word Count: 1.8k
This work, all my works, and my entire blog are 18+ Only
Warnings: Bob Being Adorable; Valentine's Day Shenanigans; Bob Deals with a Lot of Meddlers; Bob Has a Niece Named Phoebe; Reader is Female, but No Physical Description, Reader Referred to as "Ms. T" (The "T" stands for Teacher because I'm so Creative), No Use of Y/N
Summary: Bob has no plans for Valentine's Day. So, he gets set up to meet his niece's very cute teacher instead.
Master List
Tumblr media
Bob didn’t really have any specific thoughts on Valentine’s Day. If he had a partner, he would do something special, of course, but he wasn’t bothered by the fact that he spent the last four Valentine’s Days in a row single. He was deployed for three of them and he didn’t have anything planned this Valentine’s Day.
Quietly, he was honestly happy with it. Everyone seemed to put so much stress over a random weekday and he was content to avoid the chaos. But there were several people in his life who were not.
And he was almost completely sure that his mom and Phoenix were scheming behind his back.
“You still don’t have any plans tonight?” Phoenix asked Bob, who shook his head.
“No. I was just going to do some more paperwork and probably call it an early night. Maybe I’ll watch that new documentary that Penny recommended.”
“Please tell me that something in there is a code word,” Fanboy stated, causing Bob to roll his eyes. “Come on, Bob, just let one of us set you up on a blind date.”
“I have a list,” Phoenix offered, but Bob shook his head.
“A first date on Valentine’s Day? That’s a great idea! How could that possibly go wrong?” he returned sarcastically, causing Phoenix and Fanboy to share a look.
But before anyone could speak again, Bob’s phone started to buzz. Fishing it out of his pocket, Bob saw his mom’s contact pop up and excused himself from the table. He answered the call as he walked out of the mess.
“Hey, Ma, what do you need?”
“Why do you just assume that I’m calling because I need something, Robert? A mother can’t just check up on her son?” Bob waited for a moment before his mom added, “Do you have any plans for Valentine’s Day?”
“Goodbye, Ma.”
“I only ask because I completely forgot that Phoebe’s parent-teacher conference is tonight and your father and I already made plans. I was going to have our neighbor, Ms. Abel, watch her for a few hours, but obviously she can’t attend the parent-teacher conference for us.”
“What time is her parent-teacher conference?”
“Seven.”
“I’ll just watch Phoebe tonight. That's fine, Ma. I’ll pick her up from your house after work.”
“Thank you, sweetheart! And maybe you’ll meet someone there—”
“—Oh, sorry, Ma, there’s an alarm going off, I have to go. Bye.”
“Robert Martin Floyd—”
Bob hung up the phone and sighed to himself before heading back inside the mess. What was it about Valentine’s Day that made everyone lose their minds?
“Who was that?” Phoenix asked as Bob sat back down.
“My ma. She asked me to take my niece to her parent-teacher conference for her.”
“That’s better than paperwork,” Fanboy conceded.
“Is her teacher cute?” Phoenix questioned.
“Do you hear that alarm going off?” Bob suggested, causing Phoenix to roll her eyes.
~~~~~
“Alright, you lead the way,” Bob stated, setting his niece on the ground from the car. “You’re the pilot here, Bee.”
“Come on, Uncle Bob,” Phoebe called, grabbing his hand and pulling him with her. “We’re going to be late!”
“Bee, we’re ten minutes early.”
But Bob still let his niece practically drag him through the halls of her elementary school. Phoebe marched him down the ‘First Grade’ wing and stopped in front of a purple door. But Bob held her back from going inside.
“There’s people in there. Just sit and wait for a little bit. We’re early.”
Bob sat Phoebe down in one of the short chairs meant for children and sat in the similarly short chair beside her. And with his long legs, he looked rather comedic sitting there. Phoebe talked his ear off about all of the art that was hung up and Bob complimented her paintings.
The sound of the door opening caused Bob to turn his head. A couple stepped out of the classroom, followed by Phoebe’s teacher, who was dressed in a soft pink dress with paper hearts that were clearly cut out by her students taped to it. She bid the couple goodbye before turning to Bob and Phoebe, who jumped up from her seat when she realized that it was her turn.
“Hi, Ms. T!”
“Hi, Phoebe,” Ms. T greeted the little girl kindly before turning to Bob.
The wizzo in question awkwardly got to his feet from the child-sized chair under Ms. T’s gaze and tried to subtly smooth his shirt down. Phoebe’s teacher was cute, though he wouldn’t mention that to Phoenix or his mom. She radiated kindness but had that distinct look in her eye that she could quickly knock anyone down a few pegs.
Bob could quickly tell why Phoebe liked her so much.
“And who did you bring with you?” Ms. T asked Phoebe.
“This is my Uncle Bob,” Phoebe stated, pulling Bob forward.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Bob returned, holding out his hand for Ms. T to shake. “My parents couldn’t make it, so I’m standing in for them. I’m Phoebe’s uncle.”
“I already said that,” Phoebe reminded Bob.
“Oh, of course. I’ve seen your names on some of her forms. Please, come in.”
Bob took his seat at the front of the room and was relieved that he wouldn’t have to look ridiculous sitting in a child-sized seat again. Phoebe sat in the hallway, coloring and playing with toys, while Bob and Ms. T discussed her progress.
Ms. T showed Bob a standardized worksheet that listed basic skills with comments about how Ms. T thought that Phoebe was doing. Bob listened to her comments on Phoebe’s performance intently and was relieved to find out that they were pretty much all positive.
“The only area that I think that Phoebe can improve on is her confidence,” Ms. T stated, causing Bob to nod. “She’s smart and a very thoughtful little girl. And if I thought she knew that I wouldn’t say anything, but I don’t think she does. There’s nothing wrong with being quiet or shy, but I don’t want her to ever get discouraged or down on herself.”
“Shyness runs in our family,” Bob stated, causing Ms. T to smile softly. “My dad’s side. So, this isn’t a shock.”
“How is Phoebe at home?”
“She won’t stop talking or bossing me around, but I understand that school with kids her own age is a different environment from that.”
“Yes, it is. She’s very outgoing if it’s one on one or if she’s with her friends, but she just needs a little more support in public situations.”
“I could try and come to more of her school events. I’ll talk to my Captain about moving some things in my schedule,” Bob suggested, causing Phoebe’s teacher to nod. “Not that my mom isn’t here to support Phoebe, but I don’t think that she knows the meaning of the word ‘shy.’”
“I can understand that,” Ms. T mused, chuckling softly. “Well, I can give you a list of some class events that we have between now and the end of the year.”
She got up from her table and walked to the back of the room to grab a piece of paper. Scribbling something on it quickly, she walked back over and handed the paper to Bob, whose eyes immediately dropped to the number that she had written down.
“I’m assuming that your mom already has it, but that’s the number to my school phone. And my email too. And here is the kids’ schedule,” she continued, pulling out another piece of paper and handing it over to Bob. “You can feel free to call me during any of the breaks that you see where they’re in specials or lunch.”
“Thank you,” Bob replied, smiling kindly in return. “I’ll let you know what events I can make.”
They walked out to the hallway and Phoebe quickly popped up from her table and came trotting over. Staring up at her Uncle Bob with that distinct begging look that Bob always ended up cracking for, Phoebe glanced between Bob and her teacher.
“Ice cream?”
“Yeah, I think we can get ice cream,” Bob agreed, kneeling down to Phoebe’s height. “But if grandma asks?”
“We got brussel sprouts.”
“That’s right.”
Phoebe smiled and bounced in place, eager to go. She bid goodbye to Ms. T, promising to see her tomorrow, before grabbing Bob’s hand and urging him away.
“It was nice meeting you,” Bob called back to Ms. T, who laughed and waved goodbye to them.
“I hope to see you again,” she returned before Phoebe tugged Bob around the corner.
~~~~~
Four Months Later . . .
“Phoebe Floyd,” Ms. T called out.
The crowd of family members—and several supportive naval aviators—cheered as Phoebe jogged across the stage. Ms. T gave her a little badge to signify that she was now a second grader before gently nudging her to join her other classmates.
And once they went through the rest of the kids, the day wrapped up. Bob picked up Phoebe and spun her around until his mom urged him to put her down so that they could take family pictures. After a few, Phoebe tugged on Bob’s hand until he bent down to her level. Phoebe leaned over and cupped her hands around his ear.
“Ms. T needs help carrying stuff back to the classroom.”
“Yeah?” Bob asked, causing Phoebe to nod quickly before leaning in again.
“Can I be the flower girl?” Phoebe added, earning a choked sound from her uncle.
Ms. T was in the middle of gathering the decorations when she heard footsteps behind her. Turning around, she smiled softly when she saw Bob jogging over to her.
“Need any help?”
“I won’t turn it down.”
“So, are you excited for summer vacation?” Bob asked Ms. T, who nodded in return. “Do you have any plans?”
“I was hoping that some cute naval aviator with these big dorky glasses and these big blue eyes was going to ask me on a date,” Ms. T stated, causing Bob to flush with embarrassment. “But I don’t know if that will ever happen.”
“Well, maybe he was waiting for you to no longer be his niece’s teacher before asking you out,” Bob replied, taking the box from her hands. “Which reminds me, do you have any plans for Friday night?”
“I do now,” Ms. T replied with a wide smile.

Imagine Chibs coming home to you and the boys
Tumblr media
Set in the same world as this imagine 🥰💕
You’re sitting on your covered front porch, legs comfortably folded beneath you on a cushioned metal chair. A sweating glass of lemonade sits beside you alongside a bowl of freshly cut watermelon you’d just brought out.
Thomas and Abel are running around in the grass. Abel is usually the ringmaster and designates who is the cop and who is the robber, or who is Spider-Man and who is the Green Goblin. Thomas follows his brother’s lead loyally and happily goes along in whatever game Abel’s made up this time.
You were pretty sure you’d just heard Abel tell Thomas it was his turn to be the dog when you called for them.
“Boys! I brought the watermelon out!” You projected across the lawn that was spotted with indigenous plants and your abundant love of flowers.
Both their heads zipped in your direction before bike handles and action figures were being tossed to the ground. They basically ran each other over trying to get the first piece of the sticky sweet fruit.
You let out a laugh as they clamored up the walkway to get to their snack. You placed the bowl down on the side table and they dug in, red juice dripping down their hands and onto their arms.
You slid your phone out to snap a picture of the cute, sticky mess in front of you. Big cheeses from the boys, both holding a slice bigger than their faces graced your sight. You sighed and leaned in to kiss Thomas’s head.
The sweet picture quickly pops up on Chibs’ phone. A wide smile spreads across his face as he buckles his helmet and his bike roars to life. He was so excited to get home.
Tumblr media
You always heard him before you saw him. The boys had resumed chasing each other in the grass when the faint rumbling started.
They looked at each other and then to you, silently asking if they were hearing what they thought they were. You nodded enthusiastically and the boys erupted in giggles. Their little bodies could hardly hold their excitement in.
Abel and Thomas stayed in the grass like you’d taught them and leaned on each other trying to get a better view down the road.
Finally, Chibs came into view, turning the corner onto your street. Excited squeals almost covered the loud rumbling until he quickly cut the engine and all you could hear was a jumbled mess of, “Uncle Chibby!” “Dada!” “You’re home!”
His helmet and glasses practically flew off his face as he rushed over to the plush grass, bending down do greet both of his boys at their level.
“Hi my boys! Were ya good lads for yer Ma today?” Chibs beamed as he spoke to his sons.
Each of them set off into a detailed description of their whole day from when he left until now. You picked up mentions of popsicles, petting Uncle Happy’s dog, and helping Uncle Tiggy change a tire, but everything else was a fast-paced jumble.
Filip looked up at you amidst the adorable chaos and, ever the flirt, sent you a knowing wink. He was silently saying “just wait until it’s your turn.”
A wide smile spread across your cheeks as you adoringly watched Filip interact with your boys. He nodded and encouraged them with a “s’that so?” or “really?” every now and then.
It had been several minutes when he just couldn’t wait any longer to get his hands on you.
“Whaddaya say you lads see who can run around the house the fastest, huh?” He suggested, both boys jumping up to get in starting positions, “Ready, on yer marks, go!”
The boys shot off as fast as their short legs could carry them and Filip stepped his way up to you. You stood up and let his strong arms wrap you up in a warm, tight embrace. You melted into his chest, soaking up his musk of something crossed between sandalwood and motor oil.
“How are ye, my love?” Filip cooed info your hair.
“Better now,” You stretched your neck up to give him a sweet peck on the lips, “We had a good day, but we miss Daddy.”
“Oh, lass, dinna worry, Daddy will see to ya later tonight,” He punctuated his thought with a sharp smack to your ass.
“Filip!” You squealed and jumped a little, still wrapped up in his thick arms, “You are a pig!”
“Aye, but I’m your pig, my love.”
He tipped his head back and huffed out a laugh just as both boys rounded the corner info the front yard. You twisted your head over to see them running their hardest next to each other.
“Eww!” Abel cried out, “Are you gonna kiss?”
Filip lifted a hand to wave them off, “Yous better take another lap if you don’t wanna find out!”
Both boys took off squealing as he leaned in to kiss you sweetly, one hand still waving the boys on to keep going.
You both let out a laugh as Filip turned to settle into the oversized porch chair and pulled you down with him.
There you sat, perched on the broad thighs of the love of your life, on the front porch of the home you’d transformed into your oasis, his strong arms pulling you close as the sounds of giggles and squeals of joy began moving closer again. It seemed so simple and, yet, it seemed like everything.
“How did I get so lucky?” The words fell from your lips before you even realized.
“Nay, lass,” Filip’s calloused hands held your face gently, tilting your body until your gaze met his, “I am the lucky one.”
He kissed you again, his lips convincing you that every word he spoke was the truth.
Giggles and screeches turned into you groans and gagging noises.
“I told ya not t’look, lads! Am I no’ allowed to kiss yer Ma?”
More giggles filled the air, including yours and Filip’s, as you settled into him, happy to watch the boys run around for a few more minutes before heading inside to settle in for the evening.

Above: Sandra Church, Jack Klugman, Lane Bradbury, Ethel Merman, and Peg Murray in Gypsy.
Gypsy, the musical based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, opened at the newly-refurbished Broadway Theater on May 21, 1959. It had a book by Arthur Laurents, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and music by Jule Styne. Originally, Sondheim had been slated to write the music as well as the lyrics, but Ethel Merman was nervous about entrusting the whole thing to such a young man (he was 29). Jerome Robbins directed and choreographed it.
Despite the title, the star of this show is Gypsy's mother, Rose Hovick, the stage mother to end all stage mothers. Often described as monstrous, she ruthlessly pushes her two young daughters into vaudeville, spotlighting the pretty blonde, June. But vaudeville is dying, and the girls are eventually forced into doing their act in burlesque theaters. It is there that one of the dancers persuades Louise, the "plain" brunette daughter, to consider striptease. She blossoms, of course, and becomes the famous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. Her sister runs away and becomes the actress June Havoc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above: left, Jacqueline Mayro as Baby June (doing split) and Karen Moore as Baby Louise (Uncle Sam). Right, Sandra Church as the adult Gypsy and Ethel Merman as her mother.
The score is chock full of what would become standards: "Let Me Entertain You," "Everything's Coming Up Roses," "You Gotta Get a Gimmick," among others, as well as the most exciting overture in all musical theater. But the crowning musical achievement was the show's final song, "Rose's Turn," which one critic described as a "quick-mix of aria, stomp, anthem, hymn, recitative, shout, [and] wail." It's also the essence of the integrated musical number.

Gypsy is often mentioned when the question of Best Musical Ever Made comes up. In addition to a film and a television version, it has been revived on Broadway four times; it would have been five if not for Covid. The 2015 West End production, starring Imelda Staunton as a stunning Rose, was supposed to have transferred. But the production is available to watch on DVD.
