misrepresented.

Upile Chisala – Eu destilo melanina e mel

“now that I know
the soft magic of your laugh
and how your body moves like art,
why would I ever go back?
what was before you?”

to the one that birthed us
i wish you had disappeared back into yourself when he showed you he could not love,
and when he destroyed your essence
and made you let go of your being.
i wish you had said, “enough.
the magic and sweetness that resides within in is worthy of nurturing and care.”
i wish i had learned —
and that you had taught me —
what it means to let go.
