I hate how Izuku thinks just because he doesn’t have a quirk, he’s useless. You could literally just use support items to replicate most people’s quirks. Wanna have eyes like Mei’s? Use goggles. Wanna be a pikachu like Kaminari? Use a taser. In fact, a taser is probably better anyways since it can actually aim. (No offense to Denki, I love him sm and he gets better 🥺🫶🏻) Want explosions like Bakugo? Make them. Dynamite (which is literally made of Nitroglyerin just like a certain someone’s sweat) literally exists. 🧨
Literally almost every quirk is replicable.
Use spring shoes to hop like Mirko. Use a jet pack to fly similar to Hawks. Jet shoes to bounce like Gran Torino. Use gas bombs to knock people out like Midnight. Use water guns full of acid to be like Mina.
To be honest, it’s only the more nature inclined quirks (Inasa Yoarashi, Shouto/Enji/Touya Todoroki, Yo Shindo, etc..) that’ll be harder to replicate. And even then I’m sure there’s a way to get close to something similar.
And the good thing is if you use support equipment this way, you can have multiple. Meanwhile everyone else is focusing solely on their quirk to the detriment of everything else, which isn’t very well-rounded.
Izuku is so smart. And he’s always adamant about how a quirk doesn’t define you. There aren’t villainous or heroic quirks, he says. (Though this may be me thinking of fanfic, I’m fairly certain he says something along these lines to Eri. 💀) Then why doesn’t he practice what he preaches?? I understand he’s literally been conditioned to see himself as useless because of those around him, but god. It’s just so sad to watch, honestly. He needs to watch some Iron Man pronto.
Takeaway; Izuku would be just as good a hero with support items instead of a flashy, dangerous quirk (no offense to OFA but it literally kills its users 💀🪦🙏🏻) and he really needs some therapy asap. He has zero sense of self-worth. 😃

Oh hey I hope you don’t mind me asking, this is purely out of curiosity but if you had to picture other duopath runs which characters would you pick and why? :)
Therion & Tressa are such a good combo I’m curious about which other traveler combinations would work well
hm thinking about which ones would be fun…. i think i can think of some that’d be fun
ship ones obvi would be funny, so alfyn/therion Primrose/Haanit, Olberic/Cyrus etc, also i think all of those combos are pretty good and can cover each other, i think Alfyn/Therion probably has the easiest time of it (due to access to steal for equipment and then concoct is just really good) and olberic/cyrus probably has the hardest time of it? i think thats purely because cyrus is frail and might take some investment to make sure he’s not dying every 2 seconds. then again, olberic as a duo is pretty good since he always has incite access. basically cyrus needs saving grace asap i think
Prim/haanit i think mayyybe more middle of the road? you do always get sealticge but its more of a whole thing with just two party members instead of 4, but haanit can hit the big damage and having dancer prim she’s probably easier to minmax damage potential on since you can lion dance her etc… if you run one of them as thief you can probably do some kind of armor corrosive lion dance setup and let haanit just hit the double digit thousands
i think one of the things that would be difficult about both haanit/prim and olberic/cyrus is definitely the lack of path action to acquire npc items, you get literally soooooo much shit out of it it’s super helpful lol.
other ones i think would be fun
Alfyn/Ophilia: healerpath run. while you won’t have to rely on item healing (like i did for the majority of duopath), i think this one would be a fun like, find your damage method one. plus, these two are the ones who usually sit back as supports (at least in their base class roles), but push when push comes to shove- sorry you guys gotta do all the hard work of killing these guys on top of the healing. also the stretch between their ch3s and ch4s would be miserable for them sorry you two
Therion/Primrose: the two traumatized ones with loner streaks, that’s right we’re putting bff bracelets on you and forcing you to work together. i think these two have a kind of kinship friendship that they don’t quite share with any of the others, so they get along quite well, even though i think i’d find it hard to stick them together permanently without the glue of the rest of the party. but as a duopath, i think they could still be pretty fun, and i want primrose to have some help stabbing those guys. gameplay wise, having therion would be a huge benefit for path action reasons, plus thief is like. imo one of the best subclasses paired with anything so i think any duopath he’s in gets some added benefit.
Olberic/Tressa: i always liked their dynamic, as the oldest member and the youngest member they might have an almost parental kind of relationship, and something abt tressa’s plucky enthusiasm and Olberics more stoic, seasoned nature is always fun to me. Tressa is another items-getter path action (though slightly less good than steal, you’ll likely rack up enough money grinding that prices are trivial) which is a help, and merchant is extremely good in duopath due to hired help being one of the best damage options for any character who might not be able to set up huge numbers. olberic however, can set up huge numbers, which means that i think this duo would be super duper set in the damage department.
ophilia/cyrus: i think this is the one i’d do if i really wanted pain, because these two have no hp and will die. this is like, the challenge mode option, because one of the things about duopath is you’re going to be taking a lot of damage on your two characters where you would have that spread across your party. so this duo would require some interesting strategizing to raise those hp stats, figure out how to tank, and then, on top of that, how to dish out the big numbers. while magic is *good* ive always found that when you’re trying to hit big on breaks, you’re better off going for brand or aeber big hits. as well, you get no items path action to work with for them. as for the dynamic, they’re both friendly and agreeable so i think there’d be not much conflict between them, but i think you could have some fun especially by the end if they start to draw the galdera connections between them…

I have been watching My Hero Academia with my niece and I, of course, had to make it about Hermitcraft.
I just couldn't help but think that the Bakugou character's ability would be perfect for Grian, who does love his explosions. I can't stop imagining him in a red and black version of the kid's outfit.

thoughts about the new rey movie and people’s reactions to the announcement
i was gonna reblog a post about this and just slide my opinion in the tags but it’s getting to be an essay so i think it warrants its own post
i’m not trying to attack anybody with this but this has been rampant since the announcement and i have thoughts:
i understand and share in the opinion that ben solo is a wasted character and that he (and TROS and the sequel trilogy in general) was severely mishandled, and i would not be sorry to see more of him. adam was one of the best things about this new trilogy. i was hardly a star wars fan until the day i went to see TFA on opening day. that experience was something i’ll never forget and i fell in love with kylo/ben and rey from the second they both appeared on screen during their respective intros. without them i don’t think i would enjoy SW the way i do now.
i’m so happy for daisy to have this new opportunity to continue rey’s story. She deserves it.
And before you chime in--yes, Ben deserves for his story to be continued, too. No one’s ever really gone, and all that. if he comes back i will be screaming on the way to the theaters with the rest of you.
but i have seen so many people state outright since the announcement that they refuse to watch the movie if ben isn’t coming back.
i understand that sentiment, i do--none of us want to get burned again TROS-style. we want to see the dyad together and alive and happy. we want lucasfilms to get a friggin grip and just--DO BETTER.
and remember, this is my opinion, but it rubs me the wrong way when people say they won’t watch the movie without ben (and i’ve seen it said over and over and over both here and on instagram) because it’s sort of implying that rey has no value without ben, like she is not interesting enough on her own.
now i don’t actually believe that’s what people mean when they say that (at least, not everybody) but that’s the feeling i get from it. i love rey and ben equally and so i’ll take any new content with them in it, even if they aren’t together. will it hurt? will it be bittersweet? yeah. but imagine if the new rey movie gets a really low turnout and then disney execs look at the numbers and go ‘hmm--let’s not do that again’ and then a new possible trilogy is cancelled or any chance we get of maybe a dyad reunion is also gone. bc we all know the mouse listens to money above all.
i love rey. i think she’s a great character who has just as much potential as ben and i can’t wait to see what she can do in a film where she’s top billing (until they throw in a mark hamill cameo because we all know he’ll be in it to some degree) but my point still stands. and daisy is a great actress who brought such depth to rey that i’m so excited to see her return and i can’t wait to see her as rey again.
do i still have a tiny bit of hope that it will be better this time and that ben will return? yes. i’m not gonna lie about it. this clown makeup is tattooed on. but it’s a cautious hope and i’m trying not to feed too much into it, because the reality is that it’s rey who’s back and i love her so i’m going to support her because i think she’s interesting and compelling on her own, just as she was in TFA before she ever met Kylo/Ben.

The audiobook situation in general makes me livid. Like I said in those tags, I'm lucky because the library I work for has a relatively solid funding stream, so I can at least get a fair few of the things I want to read in audio format.
This is vital because I process books well aurally, and being able to listen to them while doing another task somewhat curbs my focus issues and helps me do both things. If I cannot get a book in audio format (or a format that I can apply TTS to, which itself is a huge pain to do and requires removal of DRM), I usually just don't read it.
Now, audiobooks are already expensive. To an extent they have to be because both the author and the voice actor need to get paid. That's understandable, really.
But then you have the hellish intersection of Audible's semi-closed ~exclusive~ ecosystem and publishers charging libraries heavily inflated prices for limited-length rights. This means that your selection, as someone who prefers or straight up needs audiobooks, is always going to be a lot more limited if you're trying to go through legal channels. I'm not even someone who has severe vision issues, just someone with focus and sometimes neurological issues that make reading print/ebooks harder than it should be. I can do it if I REALLY want to. I can only imagine what it's like if you can't read without audio.
I work in the cataloguing department, and when anyone points out to the person ordering that our digital audiobook selection is limited and there are holes in the collection, she's like- but audiobooks are expensive! And for libraries, they really, really, really are.
(When we can get a title at all. Because those Audible titles are harder to get, and because publishers can also make us wait until well after the digital title's release date to purchase a copy at all, even if we have the money and want to.)
