I would like to know more things that have a character that is a very badass woman and, in my opinion, truly feminist character, in a very beautiful heavily Victorian (inspired) world with some horror elements and beautiful music who is very organised and efficient and for some reason either irl or in my brain is almost always portrayed by Mia Wasikowska. I would very much like more of that.

Can we also talk about how Buck has feelings for Tommy...who is literally a carbon copy of Eddie?

Shen Yuan getting transported into pidw isn't "the system punishing him for being a lazy internet hater," but instead representative of "step 1 of the creative process: getting so mad at something you decide to go write your own fucking book" in this essay I will
#svsss#scum villian self saving system#shen qingqiu#shen yuan#the fact that people think scum villain#-a series that examines and criticizes common tropes in fiction-#is somehow against criticism or being a little hater is wild to me#especially since shen qingqiu never gets punished for being a hater#heck- he's still a little hater by the end of the series#he mostly gets punished for treating life like a play and like he and the people around him are characters#(or in other words- he suffers for denying his own wants and emotions and his own sense of empathy)#I think some of y'all underestimate how much writing/art is inspired by creaters being little haters#like example off the top of my head-#the author of Iron Widow has been pretty vocal about the book being inspired by their hatred of Darling in the Franxx#I think my interpretation of Shen Yuan's transmigration is also supported by the fact that this series is an examines writing processes#side note- though i understand why people say Shen Yuan is lazy and think its a valid take it still doesnt sit right with me#i am probably biased because my own experiences with chronic pain and depression and isolation#but ya- i dont think Shen Yuan is lazy so much as he is deeply lonely and feels purposeless after denying parts of himself for 20ish years#like yall remember the online fandom boom from covid right?#being stuck completely alone in bed while feeling like shit for 20 days straight does shit to your brain#the fact that no one came to check on him + he wasn't exactly upset about leaving anyone behind supports the isolation interpretation too#+in the skinner demon arc he describes his life of being a faker/inability to stop being a faker now that he's Shen Qingqiu#as “so bland he's tempted to throw salt on himself” and “all he could do is lay around and wait for death” (<-paraphrasing)#bro wants to be doing stuff but is stuck in paralysis from repeatedly following scrips made by other people#another point on “Shen Yuan isn’t lazy” is just the sheer amount of studying that man does#also he did graduate college- how lazy can he really be#he doesnt know what hes doing but he at least tries to actively train his students#and he actually works on improving his own cultivation + spends quite a bit of time preping the mushroom body thing#+he's experiencing bouts of debilitating chronic pain throughout all this#but ya tldr: Shen Yuan's transmigration is an encouragement to write and not a punishment and also i dont think its fair to call him lazy

i just simply don't understand what could possibly be the appeal for reading fanfic of a source material youre not familiar with. the ONLY benefit to fanfic fmpov is that my Best Friends from Media Property are there. if i didn't specifically want to spend more time with specific characters with the fiery passion of a thousand suns then i would just go read books. like i just can never wrap my head around it.

I know this might be a hot take, but can we please stop viewing Velvette as Vox and Val's "daughter" anytime the ship is brought up. For one, that's a grown ass woman, and I'm tired of people just reducing her to that title. Can't we just have a dynamic between three friends and not immediately make the third person the "child" of the other two's relationship.
This kind of stuff is so common (especially to female chaarcters), and it weirds me out since it feels very infantizing.
Edit: To the people saying it's because of the pilot and Voxtagram, I'm aware, that however does not make it any less weird because It makes their dynamic even weirder and give implications that Vox and Val groomed her to become an overlord, which is... uh...
They're all supposed to be equal to each other, and Velvette’s new characterization was definitely a good call since I don't think I would have enjoyed the Vees as they are now if they kept this dynamic form the pilot 💀

Forgotten first meeting
@wolfstarmicrofic | Word count: 377
"I think I know you," Remus whispered so that only the man in front of him could hear. He had dark, long hair and bright blue eyes that you could recognize anywhere. It was his first time seeing this man, but perhaps... "I think I knew you."
The man smiled fondly at him, and Remus could almost sense the sadness in his eyes. He looked exhausted, as if he had been running his entire life.
"Maybe in another life," he moved closer to the hospital bed so they could be eye to eye. "Maybe in another life, you knew me better than anyone else."
Remus took a moment to catch his breath, the proximity of the stranger affecting him in an inexplicable way.
"This isn't our first meeting... is it?" he asked, feeling foolish because he already knew the answer to that question.
"I've met you thousands of times through space and time, and this is the first time I can see something like recognition in your eyes."
"I think I would recognize you no matter what." And it was true. He didn't know who the man was, not exactly. But he wasn't a stranger; he wasn't a mystery. He felt like something closer to a feeling. Maybe like home.
"You promised you would recognize me anywhere," he noticed the man struggling to hold back tears. "And I promised I would never let you grow up alone. I guess we both broke our promises."
He didn't quite understand what the man was saying. It felt familiar, though, as if it had already happened in another life.
"Did you grow up alone?"
"I did," the man smiled sadly. "I did, until I met you."
"What happened then? Why did you try to find me here?"
The other avoided his gaze, as if searching for the words, as if trying to forget.
"We didn't have enough time in the reality I come from, Remus."
At the mention of his name, the world started to spin around him. Those weren't memories; that life wasn't his, at least not yet.
But he saw everything that could have been, and Remus held onto that. Maybe in another universe, Sirius would find him in a reality where both of them weren't utterly broken.

Big fan of Whumpers who keep multiple Whumpees prisoner.
Maybe these Whumpees become something like friends during their captivity, trying to stay sane between Whumper’s visits. Maybe they’re not exactly fond of each other, but they have to work together to plan an escape.
Somehow, Whumper grows aware of this. And they realize they can use it.

you know, we talk a lot about characters and/or relationships (of all kinds) being 'doomed by the narrative' around here, and how haunting and gut-wrenching that can be, especially when it so often takes the form of death and destruction and tragedy.
and we should keep doing that, obviously. death and destruction and tragedy kick total ass.
however. can we please spare a thought for the clowns trapped in that same (burning) room?
after all, what is a comic relief character if not doomed by the narrative to always act like a buffoon despite any and all circumstances, all for the sake of relieving narrative tension?
how must it feel, to have everyone around you dropping dead, losing limbs, losing loved ones, and otherwise being on the receiving end of unending torment - and all you can do is stand there and prattle off another zinger at your allotted time?
and what if you lose a loved one yourself, o jester mine? what if - hear me out - you lose multiple loved ones? what if it never ends? what will you do then?
well, if you're lucky, you'll get to mourn for all five of the seconds you're allowed to before the size thirty shoes go back on and the narrative moves on to other, more plot-central characters.
if you're not - well. it's a good thing clown makeup is waterproof, isn't it?
anyway, shout out to all my comedy kings out there doomed to play perpetual funnyman to their more plot-central counterparts despite being in undeniably comparable pain. you may be doomed by the narrative, but you are beloved by me <3

One of my favorite tragic tropes will forever be the character who so desperately wants to go home, and is so excited about one day going back, but who dies right before they finally get to see that home again.

Thanks to whoever it was that had the post about "writing your dessert."
I just finished writing a delightful mix of things that I've enjoyed reading about in other Good Omens fanfics, and I think it turned out great.
Other people who enjoy unexplained nesting instincts in creatures with wings, demon summoning with a side of snark, and getting mistaken for the wrong kind of cryptid entirely will probably enjoy this particular trope cake.

one of the best things about eiffel is that he manages to be a guy whose personality revolves around 80s / 90s pop culture without being even a little elitist or gatekeep-y about it. genuinely delightful. but you must never forget that he does fantasize about being in a ready player one scenario where trivia that amounts to "hey, remember the 80s?" and acting out movie scenes from memory will make everyone think he's soo cool and awesome and get him laid.

i think one of my favorite dumbass ways people talk about nope is when they treat jupe not being healed from the gordy incident as a plot hole or something like lmao. what kind of support system as a child actor in the notably exploitative hollywood system in the 90’s do you think he had exactly

a friend just told me:
"yk, salaar proves that a movie without any romance can be pretty compelling if it's executed correctly."
my brother in kateramma, this movie is 88% romance if you put the right glasses on.
