yes. people online DO NOT know what zionism is. and calling myself a zionist has caused people to be gross to me. but it dosent matter beacuse i refuse to let them take that away from me. zionism is what my ancestors called missing their indigenous homeland. zionism is what my grandparents called fleeing urope when antisemitism was on the rise. zionism is what my parents called having a home where we are safe and free to be jewish. zionism is what i call my belief in everybodies rigth to live in their homes peacfully. zionism is what i call my belief in my rigth to exist. zionism is a term made by jews for jews based on values that are woven into the oldest parts of judaism, and i refuse to change the terminology i describe my jewish idology with beacuse the goyim didnt like it. i am a zionist from a zionist family and i belive in peace and coexistance and a free palestine. i wont let a couple of online tankies take that away from me beacuse they decided it made me a bad jew.

Tumblr has completely warped my sense of what is acceptable to say online. I made a joke about wanting to "throw hands" in a YouTube comment and IMMEDIATELY people were on me, telling me that I needed therapy and how sick and twisted it is to threaten anybody with physical violence.
Meanwhile on here I could make a post about wanting Elon Musk's head on a pike and you guys wouldn't even flinch. You'd be like: Oh yeah. Mood.

One time someone tried to tell me that we shouldn’t refer to outer space as SPACE, because the planet is in space, and therefore everywhere is space and we shouldn’t refer to the void beyond our planet’s atmosphere as space, because it’s misleading. I responded with “well it’s referring to specifically the space that is outside of the atmosphere” and they responded with “but nobody talks about the space within the atmosphere as inner space”. Anyways if we’d been in the same room I think I would have escalated to physical violence

Dating Tara Carpenter would include...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sfw & nsfw
Tumblr media
SFW
•You have a flirtationship going on for a while.
•She doesn’t take the relationship that seriously at first. Not because she doesn’t like you but because part of her just expects you to eventually hurt/abandon her like everyone else.
•When you prove your loyalty though she is so ride or die. She’s just the most faithful and supportive girlfriend in the world.
•She’s so protective. She’ll stand up for you in a heartbeat if someone’s bad mouthing you and if someone tries to physically hurt you?? She goes feral.
•She’s not always the best communicator. She’s slow to process her feelings, let alone open up so you need a lot of patience and understanding to help her through hard times.
•Sam takes even longer to trust you than Tara did and she gives you a very intimidating warning about what will happen if you hurt her. When you do have her trust though, she’s so happy that Tara has you and basically treats you like a part of the family.
•Movie nights are common. Tara loves discussing movies with you, analysing themes, debating plot choices, the whole nine yards. Even if you’re not as into film as she is, it’s still a joy talking to her about something she’s so passionate about.
•She’s the biggest hoodie thief. You’re half-convinced she doesn’t actually own any of her own hoodies because you’ve only seen her wear yours since you started dating.
•If you’re not already roommates you stay over at each others places so often that you may as well be, and you leave so much of your stuff there that you’re starting to forget who owns what.
•Tara really likes romantic gestures. Going on cutesy dates, cooking you dinner or being cooked for, picking each other up little gifts, even just leaving sweet comments on each others social media posts.
•You’ve got a dozen inside jokes, you’re always bantering and messing around. It’s usually very flirty and your friends get so (lovingly) sick of it, you’re always being told to get a room.
NSFW
•She’s a switch.
•Sex with her is very sweet. She’s so affectionate and she’s always complimenting you or joking around.
•She’s such an enthusiastic lover. She’s so vocal and takes a very active role even when she’s bottoming. She’s always running her hands along you or kissing any part of you she can find.
•She likes to experiment, she’s willing to try most kinks at least once.
•You can get …creative… with your locations. Shower sex, hook ups at parties and quickies in your parked car are all semi-regular occurrences.

Hey I saw the posts you made about people calling you anti-black and when I looked back at the post about say her name and Brianna it seemed reasonable to me but as I understand you've since apologized and gone back on that take. Can you explain why using the say her name phrase was wrong for Brianna? I promise I mean this in good faith I just want to learn.
sure -- simply, the group that were doing that made no effort to acknowledge or show solidarity to the Black women who began the hashtag & in fact denied any knowledge of its history, which is at best pathetically ignorant of vital recent protest history and at worst deliberate erasure of antiracist struggles.
the primary mistake i made was abstracting out a specific complaint made by Black women about a specific group and their actions (trans action block and their chant sheets) into an abstract debate about 'whether protest movements should study and use each others' tactics' -- in doing so, i took those specific and situated comments out of context & in bad faith to argue against them on the terms of the latter argument. worst of all (in my personal opinion), i responded to people, esp. Black women, telling me i was wrong with reflexive disdain & dismissal, instead of actually investigating the matter and trying to understand where the viewpoint came from. i did no investigation, i had no right to speak, & yet i did anyway -- and as a result i acted racistly & unconscionably! it was this post that helped me realize specifically why i was wrong & shitty so i recommend reading it if you want more context / understanding.
& by the by: whenever i acknowledge this publicly i get people (usually anons) saying "oh, it's a shame you caved to callouts / bullying on this" & to that i say: fuck you, don't condescend to me. i've been called out for spurious bullshit lots of times (including, like, last week) and if i genuinely believe i was right i will always stand my ground. i've gone back & apologized on this instance because my rhetoric & behaviour was, in my own estimation (the only estimation that matters to me) antiblack, and that's that. no other reason.

Tumblr media
[#1] Albedo ༉‧₊˚.
Albedo will prepare a potion for you, but only if you have enough faith in the potion. It's reasonable given that the last time he asked you to test it, you turned into slime. He won't allow that happen again, especially now that you're unwell rn. Albedo will bring Barbara to you to assess if your problem is serious or not. Once he is certain that it will not endanger your life, he will remain by your side, taking care of what he is supposed to.
"Have some rest, love," Albedo said as he brushed a strand of hair away from your face. "You should as well…" Mumbles can be heard coming from you, and a faint smile can be seen over your face as your eyelids flutter close. "I assumed you were already sleeping, no?" "How can I when there's a handsome alchemist right next to me?" He chuckles at your response.
[#2] Diluc ༉‧₊˚.
Diluc WILL use his family name to look for the best doctor at Mondstadt. If there weren't any, he will ask for Liyue's doctor to come and check out his beloved. Same with Albedo, won't leave you unsupervised.
"You should be sleeping right now." "Luc… It's just a light head; I'm not dying." He hums as he walks over to the shared bed and hands you a glass of water. "Go back to sleep after you finish it," you sigh defeatingly; there's no point debating with him when it relates to your health. He's just scared of losing you.
[#3] Shenhe ༉‧₊˚.
Cloud retainer. When she notices you're blazing hot, the first thing that springs to her is Cloud retainer. The said adeptus has been taking care of her since that occurrence, including the time she falls unwell. Cloud retainer will perform this one technique that will instantly restore her health, so she reached out for Cloud retainer without hesitation.
"One has been summoned and wanted to know the reason behind this" The mighty bird fluttered her wings. "They're scorching hot, do what you do to me to her." You gripped Shenhe's hand hard and gave her a worried look. "One does not feed humans, mortal, step closer" Shenhe draws you in closer, as smoke begins to form around you in an instant. "This is the only thing One can do; give them some rest, Shenhe." The bird said before flying off.
[#4] Dottore ༉‧₊˚.
Dottore may appear cold and hopeless in a relationship, and you may have felt the same way before beginning a relationship with him. Welp, You got it both correctly and wrong. He is a loving person as well as a passionate lover. Things will be flipped upside down when it comes to your illness.
"NO WAY! I'M NOT DRINKING THAT!" "You should keep your voices down, and sure, you will drink this." "Dottore, that's a potion you prepared in the lab." You groan at Dottore's attempt to heal you by pointing out the blue shimmering liquid he's carrying. "You drank this the previous time, and I can assure you it's not harmful." He sipped the mixture before approaching you.
"I… WHAT?! WHEN DID YOU—" You felt a hand grip you tightly and a delicate lip contact yours. His kisses were gentle and warm. You felt a liquid slowly sliding down your neck and tried to break the kiss, but Dottore doesn't appear to be letting you go anywhere right now. Your bodies crushed against the wall, breathing fiercely as your lips pressed together. He breaks the kiss once the liquid has been effectively transmitted to you. Allowing you to take a breath after the forcible kiss. "That should do it," Sly said, smirking over Dottore's face and giving you the nearest water bottle.

Looks like Sam/FCG is getting on peoples nerves (fandom wise) the last few episodes. Saw someone say that FCG was hypocritical, and putting others in danger, relying on the changebringer too much. Someone was also annoyed with the FCG’s insistence on going to Imogen’s hometown when she clearly didn’t want to. It seems like I only see criticism and hatred to FCG and not to Imogen or Laudna or any other character when their being annoying or assholes.
You know, anon, fantastic timing on sending this because I've been debating whether I wanted to write something about this exact topic for a little over a week. Because, at least imo, I agree that I've seen quite a bit of...disgruntlement? anger? mean-spiritedness? over FCG's more (intentionally! it's part of the bit! and, like, his character development!) annoying traits, most recently his turn to blind faith with the Changebringer coin, but it's certainly something I've seen pop up other times in general. And I think it's interesting that FCG seems to exists within the confines of a sort of....conditional tolerance by a lot of people? And that condition seems be to whether he's supporting their favorite character (or, god forbid I talk about this, favorite ships) in a way that they like to see. It's like, as along as he's supporting who the viewers want him to be supporting in a way they see fit, he's fine. Hell, you even get the "fcg/sam riegel supremacy" comments sometimes if they do something the viewer particularly approves of. But the second FCG deviates from that and does something solely to further their own story, or even just, well, doesn't cast guidance on Imogen, it's like we're backtracking to this really strong point of negativity regarding them that really just seems to culminate in the idea that their behavior is plain on old annoying and could they stop, please?
It's an interesting dichotomy. And, like, this isn't really about whether people actually like or dislike FCG as a character (a person's opinions about him as a character is actually not the point here!), it's the fluctuation of the opinion that stands out to me. The loud approval if he does something the audience deems as "good" and the loud dismissal if he does something the audience deems as "bad" or "annoying." Hence "conditional tolerance" is sort of the phrase I've landed on to describe the phenomena. This is something I think has shown up in shades with other Sam Riegel PCs as well, though to be fair I wasn't active in the fandom pre-90s in the M9 campaign. But I feel like something similar did happen with Veth in parts of the M9, as memory serves. I feel like it has to have something to do with people's inability to look past the "bit" and see the deeper character work that seeded into those bits. If the audience member is assessing the character's actions as nothing more than a silly bit that's getting in the way, perhaps they become quite aggravated by it? (Also, I'm not going to get into the specifics of how people's christian-centric view of religion is absolutely affecting the way they're responding to the "blind faith" thing, but. You know). Like, there is something to be said here about people not wanting to actually delve deeply into the character work happening in Sam's PCs, I'm sure. It's a...unique way of engaging with his characters that is simultaneously so annoying to me as fan of Sam's PCs and also, like, weirdly fascinating as someone who did reception studies in grad school? Like, it is genuinely a unique, if irritating, aspect of the fandom discourse.

People of the internet: learn to fucking read.
What I said: I feel bad for Palestinians that don’t support Hamas. If they die, they will be casualties in this war, and we mourn their loss. I feel bad for the children who have been raised this way and don’t know any better. I don’t, however, feel bad for Hamas supporters (which, according to several sources, is the simple majority of Palestinians right now). If a Hamas supporter dies, I will not mourn them. They are Nazis, and I will not cry over their loss.
What you heard: I want all Palestinians to die horrific deaths. I love when children are dead. I hope everyone dies in this war. I hate Palestinians because they elected Hamas 18 years ago, not because of them currently supporting Hamas. In fact, even if every Palestinian tried to fight Hamas right now, I would still want them all dead.
I’m done replying to the comments and reblogs of people who have zero reading or critical thinking skills. So if you comment, DM, or reblog me trying to debate, and I don’t respond - this is why. Some people ask good faith questions. Others are either lacking in the reading comprehension department, or acting in total bad faith.

are you going to comment on what people are saying you did
I am only going to address this once because this is all I have to say on this matter. I don’t know what people are saying about me. I have no idea, but I have faith that this fandom knows how to evaluate information presented to them and that the people who have interacted with me know the kind of person I am. I have always been a proponent of the ‘Protect Your Peace’ movement and I am not the type of person to take something offline and into the real world, no matter how many times that has been done to me. I will choose the block button over nearly anything else. The people who know me well know that I don’t bow to baseless accusations like this and this type of accusation are only going to further tear this fandom apart more than it has been already. I support every writer who decides to leave for their own peace of mind, but I also support those who stay here and continue doing their own things because that does take courage after all of this.
I am not leaving this fandom. Not when I have so many stories left to tell about our silly little pilots and the adventures they get up to. Fact check your information before pointing fingers and I feel that we can weather this storm together.
So no, nonny, I didn’t doxx someone. I have no reason to ever do something like that and I find this whole situation horrible. My friends are scared and leaving the fandom, innocent people are being accused without proof, and something bad happened to one of our own writers. I am not here to debate theories on who did this, but I did not have anything to do with this.

I remember that Hori referred to Hawks (and Ochako) being a 'light of hope' in 2021. It's also interesting that it was Hawks who commented on Ofa and how it connects people's hearts. Do you have any thoughts on this?
I think that arc was very dark for Hawks specifically and the anime's rendition of it is very dark. However these chapters... in 323-325 it is a bit different. It's where I think Hori was honest and where I do think Hawks and especially Ochako are at their brightest, narratively. So, uh, to go back to my writing for Graduation Day, I remember debating whether to analyze this scene because I thought it was relevant. I eventually decided that six thousand words is enough and to spare y'all, but let's get into it because I think it confirms my thesis that vulnerability is needed for connection in BNHA.
Tumblr media
Ochako's first panels in 324 have her saying, admitting actually, that she cannot reassure people. She acknowledges they're all scared and worried.
This was the best thing she could have done.
The deification of heroes was something that led to the system they have now. Somewhere in the glitz and hero rankings people forgot these are regular people.
We see this repeatedly as an issue of identities - why Toshinori seems a shell of himself outside of All Might, most of Enji's issues boil down to him not knowing how to be Enji versus Endeavor and screwing his family up for it, and Hawks is...well, everything about Hawks is about being a Hero rather than a person, which is why Horikoshi had him kill someone literally named "humanity".
Ochako doesn't allow this to go on. She makes it clear they're all scared, they're all people who want safety, comfort, and want to be clean from mud and dirt, same as any other. It's why she's one of the Savior Kids; she's geared to try and humanize the other side. It's why she's paired with Toga. See below, as she thinks of Toga while giving a speech.
Tumblr media
Essentially she reached the people in that crowd by reminding them who Deku is - a kid with way too much on his shoulders, a person just like them. Not a symbol, not a quirk, like AFO is treating him as. A boy. Or "regular high school kid" - yeah, I should have put this in Graduation Day, lol.
Symbols aren't meant to be fragile or have to come out from the rain. Deku does because he's a person.
So what about Hawks?
Tumblr media
This isn't the last time Keigo is going make metaphors about One for All. Remember the line so many people read in bad faith about him comparing Endeavor "linking" people together too? He was talking about connection, pure and simple, realizing that much of his own motivations and Inasa's are connected through Endeavor, or their perceptions of him.
Truly, it's just him remarking that seeing society as holistic, as a whole rather than a part, is the key to solving their issue.
Tumblr media
I think the emphasis on showing your soul, ugliness and cracks and all is one of the keys to reaching the villains. Something that doesn't position them as moral superiors, which is where Keigo failed drastically with Jin. He didn't give him a good choice at all. He also wasn't willing to be fully vulnerable with him. But I also think there's another dimension to this. More and more I think Horikoshi is actually criticizing individualism and the idea of "the great man". In his depicting of bystander system that has become an issue from society delegating acts of kindness and heroism to an actual career, I think he's critiquing the idea that one person can shoulder that burden.
It shouldn't be a person but a village, so to speak. It says a lot that the characters we know as villains are both seeking connection but also saying, in the depths of despair, that their individual will can change the world.
Tumblr media
I still interpret this scene as Dabi deep in denial. Uh oh, he actually FELT something, time to double down and reiterate he doesn't give an actual fuck when truth is he DOES, he just doesn't want to. Otherwise he has to FEEL.
Anyway, the emphasis on the single person and single convinction is another one of those clues I think Horikoshi is leaving us about the "Great Man theory".
The great man theory is a 19th-century approach to the study of history according to which history can be largely explained by the impact of great men, or heroes: highly influential and unique individuals who, due to their natural attributes, such as superior intellect, heroic courage, extraordinary leadership abilities or divine inspiration, have a decisive historical effect.
Tumblr media
I remember balking when I read this. Maybe it's because here in the West, there's little uhh agreement over Napoleon being heroic. Maybe it's because my history teachers were unsual but I've never really seen anyone seriously consider Napoleon heroic. There always seemed to be agreement he was a power-mad tyrant who took advantage of the Revolution to enact a military coup and then actual progress made by the Jacobins. So the fact chapter 3 of BNHA has Mic quoting him as a great hero was always weird. At the time of my first read through, I wrote it off as maybe Japan doesn't take this approach to Napoleon and the Revolution. One person's tyrant is another's hero, you know? But more and more I think Horikoshi has been debunking Great Man Theory with his manga. First off the premise of Great Man is usual that the Great Man is born, that his Greatness is congenital. That there's a natural aptitude for greatness, like superior intellect, etc. BNHA is absolutely refuting that, has from the first page. In fact the characters who get into the trap of believing they are born "anything" are shown to be trapped or not in a good way (see Redestro, or see Tomura and Keigo believing they are born to destroy/have dirty wings respectively). So much of who Deku has become is supposed to change this idea of biological predisposition to greatness.
Even Dabi, who has struggled against the circumstances of his birth, falls into the trap of believing some people are born with everything and are born to everything, essentially internalizing the worst of his father's own beliefs.
Tumblr media
The story isn't kind to people who give us this rhetoric - that depending on others is wrong, or weakness. It's why Deku had his arc, after all.
Which brings us to my second point - the story isn't the triumph of individuals against evil. It's about people coming together. That's why Ochako and Keigo had their moments of realization in 323-325.
Tumblr media
It's not about one person. It's about people.
Lastly, and this is conjecture, but there's a curiosity to the Great Man theory from a cultural standpoint. Now each culture has its Great Man to some extent. I've spoken about how All For One is likely trying to emulate Oda Nobunaga with his Demon Lord talk. But the emphasis on individual actions over collective ones, the commercialization of heroism, and the idea of competition breeding innovations/results are distinctively Western Capitalist ones. And in...a clumsy way, I think Horikoshi has been hinting at this being part of his own criticism.
Did you ever notice how the Japanese anime has them say "Hero/Hiro"? It's an imported word. Japanese has other words that mean hero, like yusha or eiyu, which have different meanings that all relate to the English hero as either a brave person (yusha) or a person of greatness/importance (eiyu). Why then use hiro, a foreign word as the title for this career?
Because the hero system is canonically imported. And so perhaps are the ideals it brought with it.

why do people post things like "animal agriculture is good actually" and tag it with the veganism tags?
it gets tiring seeing the same disproven / bad faith arguments over and over again. is there a tag for actual vegan posts and discussion
More often than not it is essentially just shouting ‘debate me bro’ from the rooftops in a bid for attention, those people are not worth your time. Other times it’s about taking part in this bizarre group soothing exercise where tumblr ‘leftists’ pat each other on the back and reassure one another that supporting the exploitation of sentient beings for profit is totally in line with progressive values, actually. These usually prove to be enormously popular, for obvious reasons.
There are a few who are actual shills, either they’re animal agriculture students, have family in the industry or they’re involved themselves. Unfortunately and for reasons I cannot fathom, these people are believed with zero sources seemingly precisely because they have a vested interest, as if this makes them a reliable expert despite the obvious profit incentive involved.
There is no space for vegan discourse you’ll find that isn’t infested by people who feel challenged by it and therefore feel the need to shout out the same tired old arguments, unfortunately. You can’t even look up a vegan recipe without seeing it in the comments section. Quite a lot of them on Tunblr are the same few anti-vegan time wasters though, so you will see these take much less if you block them.

(continued) I damn near exploded with anger, but also was able to concede how someone could come to that conclusion.
Hmm. I hope you're being hyperbolic, Anon, I mean, I'm glad you didn't explode with anger on your friend, and I'm glad you conceded how someone might come to the conclusion that there is/are problematic content/elements in a gothic horror story/series. 😬
I don't think this was a question, more of a confession/comment? I censored it for reasons below*. Whether it's IWTV canon, the '94 movie, the 2022 TV show, etc... I would say that if you enjoy it, allow that your friend has made a comment and you can talk with them about why they think it's bad, that could be an interesting conversation if it's in good faith!
I can say that in general, these stories/characters/ships are not intended to appeal to everyone, I consider canon to be a buffet where I can pick and choose what I like and skip over what I don't!
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read. Applies to you, your friend, etc. Hopefully it won't cost you your friendship, but if it does, well, life goes on. I am not comfortable discussing certain topics publicly because fandom is a hostile environment at this time, and I come here for a fun little escape from reality in my limited free time, not to police anyone or be policed myself.
Tumblr media
[^X by @bluebellofbakerstreet)
Hit the jump for more, cut for length.
~~~
*So, I wanted to take this as quick opportunity to share some thoughts on answering asks like these, because there is some fresh blood in the fandom who may not be aware... Assuming Anon wanted to ask if I agreed with their friend or not, the question wasn't quite clear. In general:
I've been in fandom long enough that I can say that the intention for questions like these is sometimes good, to spark intriguing conversations about how ~X problematic thing~ applies to various ships, whether it's harmful to the characters or maybe just part of their nature as vampires, so it's normal for them (as an example, "Was Armand cutting off Nicki's hands an abusive act, or is that a standard punishment that a coven master would commonly do to aberrant vampires? He didn't gloat about it, and he did return/reattach them after all!"), etc.... in other times, this could be a chance for an intellectually stimulating conversation and I would have enjoyed unpacking it with ppl.
Other times, especially currently in 2024 (to timestamp this), these questions are often in bad faith as a means to provoke an unwinnable debate; pinning a fan of a piece of media (the target/person) into defensive position of ~X problematic thing~ in fiction, which often becomes a slippery slope to accuse that target/person of "promoting/endorsing/supporting ~X problematic thing~ in real life!" This is then used to vilify the target/person when they insist that "Fiction is not reality," "Depiction is not endorsement," etc. etc.. As the person continues to defend themselves the bad faith actors escalate their harassment, this is fun sport for them. This can lead to dogpiling on the target/person with hateanons, online character/reputation assassination, or even real life consequences including doxxing. All this over a piece of fiction. It's extremely risky, it's entrapment, I have seen it happen and been a mild target for it over the years, it's unpleasant at best and ruinous at worst.
And I’ll also quote the description from @ozhawkauthor of one of The 3 Laws of Fandom, which applies to canon, fanfic, adaptations, all fiction!:
The First Law of Fandom Don’t Like; Don’t Read (DL;DR) It is up to you what you see online. It is not anyone else’s place to tell you what you should or should not consume in terms of content; it is not up to anyone else to police the internet so that you do not see things you do not like. At the same time, it is not up to YOU to police fandom to protect yourself or anyone else, real or hypothetical. There are tools out there to help protect you if you have triggers or squicks. Learn to use them, and to take care of your own mental health. If you are consuming fan-made content and you find that you are disliking it - STOP.
I used to wrap things up by saying smtg positive like "Let's all get along!" but that in itself was picked on for some reason, so I'll just end it here ✨
I want to put my two cents into the whole “ant-dark fiction” debate because I think it ultimately boils down to people not being able to understand viewpoints outside their own, ON BOTH SIDES.
Resently I saw a post of someone saying something along the lines of “please stop writing fanfics of woman being r*ped” and I saw a bunch of people in the comments and reblog a essentially saying “welp, guess tumblr isn’t for you” and I think that’s just in bad faith.
People are allows to not like fanfic the glamorizes SA, HOWEVER, on the other side, people are allowed use fanfic as a coping mechanism or a safe way to explore fantasies. I personally think that because Tumblr isnt an app like TikTok with an algorithm, meaning in order to consume content you have to search it out, I think it’s ultimately your responsibility to read tags and make sure you’re safe. You can’t police everyone because it makes you uncomfortable. On that same note, if you write dark fiction you need to recognize how putting your kinks/ fantasies out their can effect people, because contrary to popular belief, it does effect people.
I hate how Proship/ Antiship discourse has runined fandom spaces. I hate how people see the discourse as black and white, it you support this one thing you’re a terrible person, if you don’t support this one thing you’re great. I hate how the discourse has ruined fanfic as an art form and has discouraged people from using fanfic as a way of dealing with their trauma, AND I also hate how people are unwilling to recognize that the things they put onto the internet is going to effect people. Controversial take, but fiction does effect reality.
It effects reality when you put posters of your favorite character on your wall. It effects reality when you cry because your favorite character died. It effects reality when your reading fanfic or drawing fanart of your favorite character. It effects reality when you sit here on your bed writing all this shit for most people not to care. If fiction didn’t effect reality then most fiction wouldn’t be loved today. Fiction effecting reality isn’t always a bad thing, people just like to paint it that way. But it can also really harm people who might not be in good mental shape. I KNOW that yandere behaviors are bad in real life, that’s why I can read Yandere fanfiction and be perfectly fine. But there are actual people on this app acting like Yanderes, talking about how they want to hurt themselves or other people for their “love.” That is fiction effecting reality in a negative way.
Either way, I think we need to start understanding and acknowledging viewpoints outside our own. Instead of rushing to say “we’ll actually I use non-con fanfic to cope from my on SA” any time a person slightly critiques dark fiction, actually take the five seconds to understand their viewpoint and why they might be upset/ uncomfortable when you post about how badly you want to be non-coned by some hot anime boy. It’s weird, especially if you’ve gone through that first hand. It isn’t glamorous or sexy, it’s traumatizing and people are allowed to fee that way. People are also allowed to use their blog to explore dark tropes in a safe way with people that also want to explore those tropes, and commenting on a post that clearly says DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT with “how dare you write fanfic about SA, you’re a terrible person!!!!” Is also not helpful in any way.
Tdlr: other people exist that aren’t you. They experience and deal with trauma in different ways and no one should be shamed for that. Pro/Anti-ship discourse has ruined fandom spaces forever, and fiction does effect reality and that’s not a bad thing.
