If YouTube exists in the early 1800s, I will pay big money to see:
Jane Austen
Lord Byron
Dr James Barry
John Keats
William Wordsworth
Percy Bysshe Shelly
The Brothers Grimm
Anne Lister aka Gentleman Jack
Eliza Hamilton
React to Thomas’ poems. Also I like to see these fictional people who would be alive at the same time as Thomas react to his poems:
Dr Henry Morgan from abc forever
Horatio Hornblower
Richard Sharpe
The bridgerton and featherington families

Social science research can replace no-longer-effective answers to no-longer existing problems
Social science research can replace no-longer-effective answers to no-longer existing problems
The Gospels contain quotes attributed to Jesus that do not always agree with each other. Sometimes the differences are insignificant, a matter of wording. In other cases, the versions radically differ from one another. In yet other cases, the evidence is strong that a saying is not what scholars call ipsissima verba, the very words of Jesus, but a later invention or version produced by the…

Ideas for future episodes of “Epic Rap Battles of History”:
1) The Snow White Battle Royale (Brothers Grimm Snow White vs. Disney Snow White vs. OUAT Snow White/Mary Margaret Blanchard vs. Weiss Schnee from RWBY vs. Fables/Telltale Snow White)
2) Wednesday Addams vs. Sabrina Spellman (theme: the “weird” girls who were beloved sitcom characters that later received a dark reboot)
3) Yuri Gagarin vs. Neil Armstrong (theme: the ‘nauts who left their mark on history)
4) Marlon Brando vs. Humphrey Bogart (theme: two actors who are considered to be the greatest)
5) Benedict Arnold vs. Judas Iscariot (theme: two of the most infamous traitors in world history)
6) Hugh Glass vs. Bear Grylls (theme: legendary frontiersman against a TV show survivalist. Both also have a connection to bears)
7) Joseph McCarthy vs. Abigail Williams (theme: individuals whose legacies are tied to two of the most infamous witch hunts in American history)

Okay, to be a little clearer (and I can't just edit my phrasing in the original response, because it has already been reblogged a bunch of times): Jacob Grimm actually should be taken seriously when it comes to his purely linguistic work. The issue, not just with Grimm but also with people like William Jones, is that there was a point in where people are making incredibly important and foundational discoveries about linguistics and philology, and then using those incredibly important and valuable insights to hypothesize all these theories that we shouldn't take seriously today. William Jones is the reason that we can talk about the existence of language families, and the Indo-European language family in particular; he was absolutely wrong when he tried to use his designation for a language family as an indicator for a biological race distinct from other races. In the same way, the linguistic connections that Jacob Grimm made between German, English, and Scandinavian languages is extremely important; that does not mean that he could accurately surmise German history and religious thought through linguistic development alone.
