As a certified Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Undertale enjoyer, I cannot express how much joy this interaction brings me. Like the idea of Sans being only a Mii costume because he’s too lazy to actually fight? Immaculate. Iconic. Other words of praise that begin with an i. The reference to 2D food when, as evident by the Gourmet Race in World of Light, the food in Ultimate is clearly 2D? Perfect. No notes. The clear reference to Game Theory? Outstanding. Amazing. The mention of the invitation Sans received to join Ultimate? Flawless. Stunning. Toby Fox the man that you are.

Reasons why I firmly believe Vos didn’t perish initially in the Sea Temple and instead survived (if even for a short while) inside: This is going to be a rant so bear with me…
The subtle hints in the game dialogue reveal a lot despite us never finding his inventory or concrete evidence suggesting how Vos died:
1) In the emporium when you first consult Jack about going to the Sea Temple, he mentions his friends Vos and Sammy were killed during the first adventure. He doesn’t explicitly state he saw them both die, just that “neither of them made it out alive.” (More on this in 2)
2) After freeing ‘Vos’ in the temple, Jack seems more excited than confused that his buddy is alive. In fact, Jack asks him no questions. (I can dismiss that as Jesse needing the dialogue options, but Jack’s lack of suspicion is either because Vos had an ambiguous death or he’s in denial that his friend is dead.) Jesse mentions to ‘Vos’ that “Jack said he saw you die.” But from all the game dialogue I’ve seen, Jack never says he saw that.
Full Quotes:
3) “Whatever’s left of Vos must be somewhere down here too…” -Jack after picking up Sammy’s inventory in the Sea Temple
He says “somewhere.” Almost as if he’s not even sure where his other friend died. Huh, kind of like he didn’t see it…
Yes I know that upon entering the guardian room of the temple, he says that everything is a blur, but after picking up one of your friend’s inventories, wouldn’t memories come flooding back? I feel like that would have been a crucial memory even if it was repressed.
Side note: It’s kind of weird he doesn’t go looking for Vos’ inventory. Idk if this is because he genuinely doesn’t know where it is or because he’s so distraught after finding Sammy’s inventory that he needs some time to think before he can handle seeing Vos’ as well.
4) “I thought you were a goner, man!” -Jack to ‘Vos’
Note how he says “thought.” What happened that made you think he died? Because seeing him die wouldn’t merely leave you thinking your friend died. You would be 100% sure-
Jack doesn’t say “I saw you die!” Or “How did you survive (insert whatever killed him)?”
5) “The real Vos would never have survived in my Sea Temple that long!” -Romeo post-reveal
HE. SAYS. “SURVIVED.” That’s a weird thing to say if Vos had really died initially along with Sammy.
He doesn’t say anything like: “You really thought I was your friend? After you watched him perish?” or something implying Jack saw it occur. Because knowing Romeo, he would absolutely jab at a blunder like that and belittle Jack for believing his disguise after seeing his friend die.
So, yeah. Our favorite sea temple adventurer lived in that death trap of a Brita filter for Admin knows how long until his eventual death by… starvation? Temple traps? Both? Maybe the guardians still killed him but later? My main guesses are he got trapped in the obsidian cages, or separated from Jack while they were escaping. Either way, Jack accidentally abandoned him after thinking he was killed. Such a shame we never find his inventory pile or anything because that would answer so many of my questions- Romeo give back Vos’ inventory challenge (impossible.) I know you have it.
Idk if we’ll ever know what actually happened but here’s my ten cents. ^^ I am so very mentally well as of now. Thank you for coming to my TellTalk /j
[Or another rant if you want:]

Aru Shah characters at the airport because I have 30 minutes left to spare until I board.
Aru Shah - the person who leads everyone through the checkpoints (she went to the wrong counter but that’s the only time she messed up that day)
Aiden - he has everyone’s IDs and passports because he cannot trust any of the other Pandavas (especially Rudy [he’s an honorary member])
Brynne - she’s carrying the food around with her, supposedly for everyone, but she ends up finishing it before anyone has a chance to take a bite
Mini - she would be the one asking Aiden over and over if everything is there (and he always patiently responds because Mini and Aiden’s friendship is >>>>>)
Rudy - he would act so “this doesn’t bother me at all” before boarding but as soon as he boards the plane, he clings onto Mini because he’s horrified
Nikita and Sheela - they would be so hyped for the flight (Sheela outwardly shows it while Nikita gives huge smiles) but would fall asleep within one hour
Kara - she’s probably be in a sort of sleep haze, but stay awake the entire flight so she could watch the movies she’s downloaded

YAQ, IPA (Title is long, man)
Tumblr media
The big thing to note here is that Donnie doesn’t yet have a good grasp on understanding the complexities of the mutageon. The assumption is that he figures it out over the three months at the farmhouse when he makes Leo’s “patented mutegentic medicine”. (But I think that’s mainly composed of human medicine and other chemicals, because he’s not trying to risk double-mutating his oldest bro, you guys.)
As they have not yet been scarred for life (season 2 finale literally changes the course of everything, my goodness-), his understanding is very limited.
We know that Stockman manages to crack it and figure out how to safely turn human into mutants, but one could argue that this is because of the equipment, chemicals, and funding he can get from the Kraang and Shredder. He has more resources than Donnie could ever hope to have.
Anyway~
Creating the retromutageon was a lot of trial and error. And I mean a lot of trial and error. It gets to the point that at the beginning of The Lonely Mutation of Baxter Stockman, Donnie is under-his-breath begging the retromutageon to work, and doesn’t sound the least bit surprised when it doesn’t. He groans, but that’s because there’s still some disappointment there.

When it does work, he is over-the-moon, ecstatically whooping enough to attract the attention of the whole lair.
While talking to his brothers, he says, quote, “I only have enough for two doses. One for April’s dad, and one for Master Splinter.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This leads the viewers to the same conclusion that Donnie must have come too, which is that the entire vial is needed in order to cure the afflicted person. Which means that he didn’t know that one drop of the stuff would be enough. April leading her dad to the dropping mutagen was probably out of pure instinct. It was a last-ditch effort that I doubt she would have believed would work if asked later.
Tumblr media
Honestly though, Donnie’s spent his entire life being conservative with what he has. Being unnecessarily wasteful, especially on something this important, just doesn’t fit the bill.
I’m sure if he knew, none of his worry about whether or not any would have been left over for Master Splinter would have come into play. He probably would have brought a bunch of tiny separate vials. As it were, he simply didn’t know.

Watching Kafka and Reno’s interactions at the beginning of the Kaiju No.8 anime hits differently after catching up with the manga.
Reno protesting Kafka’s carelessness with his Kaiju form is a fun gag early on in the story, and his decision to stick with Kafka during the exam is endearing—but it’s amplified and almost sad in retrospect.
Manga spoilers from chapter 101 onward below the cut.
We learn in Ch. 101 that Reno has suffered a huge amount of loss in his life.
He lost his parents and brother. He lost the familiarity and daily routine of attending his existing school. He lost emotional security, witnessing his grandmother’s struggle with their mutual grief. He lost faith in the idea that someone might help.
Only for Kafka to trip headlong into correcting that belief.
Despite Reno’s disrespect, Kafka fully embodies his senpai title by teaching him the tricks of the trade. He looks out for and helps him without hesitation, and he brushes off any jabs or insults with a quick, internal wince.
And then Kafka absolutely shatters his core beliefs by shoving him out of a Kaiju’s path.
This guy—a guy Reno barely knows, a guy that he insulted seconds into their first meeting—is willing to die for him without hesitation.
Is it any surprise that Reno really would rather not lose him?
All of those reminders and all of that fussing is to keep Reno’s only hero from being scrapped for literal parts.
For the first time since the death of his family, someone steps between Reno and tragedy. Of course he’s going to do everything in his power to keep that savior alive.
