RIP to one of the biggest musical influences of my life: Wayne Shorter. I couldn’t decide which selection to perform to pay homage, so this is a tribute suite in 3 parts [‘Yes Or No’ / ‘Wildflower’ / ‘Speak No Evil’]. Anyone that knows me on a deeper level knows how much I salute Wayne (especially @jacobslocumjazz). I’m just blessed to have had the chance to see him perform some years back with Herbie, and to be a witness to his greatness in person. I decided to do something for myself and get this NES notebook. A simple act of self care, but I needed something to remind me of a time when I wasn’t getting dragged by life. This notebook also inspires me to write tunes that tap into my core imagination; something I’ve lost sight of in the last year due to various obstacles.
