Fena: Pirate Princess A friend of mine recommended this one to me, and since it was only 12 episodes long I gave it a shot! A cute story, pretty visuals and a gallery of nice characters. I liked the story and I kinda wish there were more episodes. We'll see what the future holds. A good watch though! Her goal: escape her captors, forge a new identity, and search for a place where she can truly belong and find out the true mystery behind the keyword: "Eden." It's the story of the adventure of a lifetime she and her crew of misfits and unlikely allies will have, in pursuit of her goals!

Jujutsu Kaisen I saw trailers, pictures, memes and such of this show everywhere! So what else to do that start watching. The first couple of episodes didn't really catch me the way I hoped, but after a while I was hooked as everyone else. I was so sure the second season was out, but no.. So now it's a waiting game (like so much else)! I really like the style of this. The character gallery is good mix and the typical anime expressions in the middle of it all makes the settings perfect. It's just a perfect match for my humor. Title: Jujutsu Kaisen / 呪術廻戦 Director: Seong-Hu Park Watched language: Japanese Genre: Action, fantasy Studio: MAPPA Episodes: 23 Release year: 2020 Synopsis: Idly indulging in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club, high schooler Yuuji Itadori spends his days at either the clubroom or the hospital, where he visits his bedridden grandfather. However, this leisurely lifestyle soon takes a turn for the strange when he unknowingly encounters a cursed item. Triggering a chain of supernatural occurrences, Yuuji finds himself suddenly thrust into the world of Curses—dreadful beings formed from human malice and negativity—after swallowing the said item, revealed to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna Ryoumen, the "King of Curses." Yuuji experiences first-hand the threat these Curses pose to society as he discovers his own newfound powers. Introduced to the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School, he begins to walk down a path from which he cannot return—the path of a Jujutsu sorcerer.

Ranking of Kings We were browsing through Crunchyroll and this anime had one of the header slides, and my friend said she got this recommended. And a few hours later we were halfway through! This was soo enjoyable! The art style itself is amazing, something simple and yet so fresh. All the different expressions are amazing and just draw you into the moment. The character gallery is massive and yet not to much at the same time, and all the character developments and relationships are nice as well. The story is well followed through, and the music is also spot on and very catchy. This is one anime I will for sure watch again. Title: Ousama Ranking / Ranking of Kings Director: Yōsuke Hatta / Makoto Fuchigami Watched language: Japanese Genre: Adventure, fantasy Studio: Wit Episodes: 23 Release year: 2021 Synopsis: The people of the kingdom look down on the young Prince Bojji, who can neither hear nor speak. They call him "The Useless Prince" while jeering at his supposed foolishness. However, while Bojji may not be physically strong, he is certainly not weak of heart. When a chance encounter with a shadow creature should have left him traumatized, it instead makes him believe that he has found a friend amidst those who only choose to notice his shortcomings. He starts meeting with Kage, the shadow, regularly, to the point where even the otherwise abrasive creature begins to warm up to him. Kage and Bojji's unlikely friendship lays the budding foundations of the prince's journey, one where he intends to conquer his fears and insecurities. Despite the constant ridicule he faces, Bojji resolves to fulfill his desire of becoming the best king he can be.

Konosuba A friend recommended this to us so we just had to check it out. And it's hilarious. There's quite a few animes with people going to a different world, but the comedy in this gives a great laugh. The character gallery is quite colorful and it's just fun. Title: Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! / God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! Director: Kanyasaki Takaomi Watched language: Japanese Genre: Adventure, comedy, fantasy, supernatural Studio: Studio Deen Episodes: 20 episodes 01: Konosuba (10 episodes) 02: Konosuba 2 (10 episodes) Seasons: 2 Release year: 2016 / 2017 Synopsis: After dying a laughable and pathetic death on his way back from buying a game, high school student and recluse Kazuma Satou finds himself sitting before a beautiful but obnoxious goddess named Aqua. She provides the NEET with two options: continue on to heaven or reincarnate in every gamer's dream—a real fantasy world! Choosing to start a new life, Kazuma is quickly tasked with defeating a Demon King who is terrorizing villages. But before he goes, he can choose one item of any kind to aid him in his quest, and the future hero selects Aqua. But Kazuma has made a grave mistake—Aqua is completely useless! Unfortunately, their troubles don't end here; it turns out that living in such a world is far different from how it plays out in a game. Instead of going on a thrilling adventure, the duo must first work to pay for their living expenses. Indeed, their misfortunes have only just begun!

Horimiya I've been wanting to watch a decent Horimiya anime for aages. I read the manga a long time ago, and ever since I’ve been wanting an anime. And I was so stoked when the OVA’s came out several years ago, but the happiness was quite short. I didn’t like the style very much, neither the fact that there were very few episodes. But now ladies and gentlemen! They actually made something great! The story is true to the mange (as I can remember), the character gallery is a fun mix, and the overall art style is so pretty. Even though I always knew what would happen it still gave me this good, warm feeling as the story went on. I really enjoyed this with a huge smile on my face. 10/10 will watch again. Title: Horimiya / Hori-san and Miyamura-kun Director: Masashi Ishihama Watched language: Japanese Genre: Comedy, romance, slice of life Studio: CloverWorks Episodes: 13 Release year: 2021 Synopsis: On the surface, the thought of Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura getting along would be the last thing in people's minds. After all, Hori has a perfect combination of beauty and brains, while Miyamura appears meek and distant to his fellow classmates. However, a fateful meeting between the two lays both of their hidden selves bare. Even though she is popular at school, Hori has little time to socialize with her friends due to housework. On the other hand, Miyamura lives under the noses of his peers, his body bearing secret tattoos and piercings that make him look like a gentle delinquent. Having opposite personalities yet sharing odd similarities, the two quickly become friends and often spend time together in Hori's home. As they both emerge from their shells, they share with each other a side of themselves concealed from the outside world.

Orange  I’ve wanted to watch this for a while, but never had the urge to go and do it. Until now. Since it’s only 13 episodes it goes by pretty fast, yet the story fits perfectly. The sci-fi in the middle of it all is a little weird, but it’s not too bad or out of place. I like the style of this and I guess that’s why I was drawn to it, and the six main characters are a good match for each other. While watching it the mood could change from happy to sad and back again, but it’s still a good one.  Title: Orange Director: Hiroshi Hamasaki / Naomi Nakayama Watched language: Japanese Genre: Drama, romance, sci-fi, shounen, slice of life Studio: Telecom Animation Film Episodes: 13 Release year: 2016 Synopsis: Naho Takamiya's first day of her sophomore year of high school is off to an uneasy start. After waking up late, she receives a strange letter addressed to her. However, the letter is from herself—10 years in the future! At first, Naho is skeptical of the note; yet, after witnessing several events described to take place, she realizes the letter really is from her 26-year-old self. The note details that Naho's future life is filled with regrets, and she hopes that her younger self can correct the mistakes that were made in the past. The letter also warns her to keep a close eye on the new transfer student, Kakeru Naruse. Naho must be especially careful in making decisions involving him, as Kakeru is not around in the future. With the letter as her guide, Naho now has the power to protect Kakeru before she comes to regret it once more.

ReLIFE This was hilarious, and I am almost sad that it wasn’t more episodes. Might have to read the manga as well. The comedy of this was right up my alley, funny situations, a great likable character gallery and some surprises here and there. Almost binged the whole thing in a day with a big smile on my face! I will also for sure check out more anime from the studio in charge. Title: ReLIFE Director: Satoru Kosaka  Watched language: Japanese Genre: Romance, school, slice of life  Studio: TMS Entertainment Episodes: 13 + 4   Release year: 2016 Synopsis: Dismissed as a hopeless loser by those around him, 27-year-old Arata Kaizaki bounces around from one job to another after quitting his first company. His unremarkable existence takes a sharp turn when he meets Ryou Yoake, a member of the ReLife Research Institute, who offers Arata the opportunity to change his life for the better with the help of a mysterious pill. Taking it without a second thought, Arata awakens the next day to find that his appearance has reverted to that of a 17-year-old.

Beastars I’ve wanted to watch this since the first time I saw the trailer on Netflix, and today was the day! Literally.. Saw the first 5 episodes for breakfast and the rest during/after dinner. So yeah, this was my day. But oh my, what an intro! The visuals of the anime is very pleasant, and it’s a slight mix of 2D and some 3D, and then there’s the intro sequence - it’s in stop motion! We thought that was really cool, not only is the opening theme catchy, but the movements of the stop motion is very nicely done. I bet the song will go on repeat for quite some time the next weeks. The story was nice and the characters looked so good, it’s also fun to see different types of animals in a “human” setting. Who knew birds would look great with actual legs, haha. Can’t wait for 2021 and the second season. Title: Beastars Director: Shinichi Matsumi Watched language: Japanese Genre: Drama, psychological, shounen, slice of life Studio: Orange Episodes: 12  Release year: 2019 Synopsis:  In a civilized society of anthropomorphic animals, an uneasy tension exists between carnivores and herbivores. At Cherryton Academy, this mutual distrust peaks after a predation incident results in the death of Tem, an alpaca in the school's drama club. Tem's friend Legoshi, a grey wolf in the stage crew, has been an object of fear and suspicion for his whole life. In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, he continues to lay low and hide his menacing traits, much to the disapproval of Louis, a red deer and the domineering star actor of the drama club. When Louis sneaks into the auditorium to train Tem's replacement for an upcoming play, he assigns Legoshi to lookout duty. That very night, Legoshi has a fateful encounter with Haru, a white dwarf rabbit scorned by her peers. His growing feelings for Haru, complicated by his predatory instincts, force him to confront his own true nature, the circumstances surrounding the death of his friend, and the undercurrent of violence plaguing the world around him.

Pokémon: Sun & Moon (series 6)  These episodes went by far too quickly. At first I missed the XYZ because of the art style, because it was so visually satisfying, but after a little while the new art style was a nice fresh addition to the series. I liked the new typical “anime expressions” as well, even though it was weird sometimes (obviously not used to it), but it was still quite enjoyable. The whole island challenge-vibe reminded me of the Orange Island adventures (season 2), but not in a bad way, since it’s still quite different with the Pokémon school as well. The character gallery was also a nice combination of people and there were never a boring moment because they were so many different life stories, and we witnessed them all. Almost to the end. Would’ve liked to see the conclusion of what happened to Lillie and Gladion’s father, but hey. It was some sort of closure. Now onward to the new Pokémon series! Title: Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon  Director: Yuyama Kunihiko and Tomiyasu Daiki Watched language: English  Genre: It’s Pokémon! What else do you need? Studio: OLM Episodes: 146 episodes Seasons:      18: Sun & Moon (43 episodes)     19: Sun & Moon: Ultra Adventures (49 episodes)     20: Sun & Moon: Ultra Legends (54 episodes) Release year: 2016 / 2017 / 2018 Synopsis:  After his mother wins a free trip to the islands, Pokémon trainer Ash and his partner Pikachu head for Melemele Island of the beautiful Alola region, which is filled with lots of new Pokémon and even variations of familiar faces. Eager to explore the island, Ash and Pikachu run wild with excitement, quickly losing their way while chasing after a Pokémon. The pair eventually stumbles upon the Pokémon School, an institution where students come to learn more about these fascinating creatures. At the school, when he and one of the students—the no-nonsense Kiawe —have a run-in with the nefarious thugs of Team Skull, Ash discovers the overwhelming might of the Z-Moves, powerful attacks originating from the Alola region that require the trainer and Pokémon to be in sync. Later that night, he and Pikachu have an encounter with the guardian deity Pokémon of Melemele Island, the mysterious Tapu Koko. The Pokémon of legend bestows upon them a Z-Ring, a necessary tool in using the Z-Moves. Dazzled by his earlier battle and now in possession of a Z-Ring, Ash and Pikachu decide to stay behind in the Alola Region to learn and master the strength of these powerful new attacks.

Hori-san to Miyamura-kun This is a four episode OVA from 2012, and I’ve watched these through the last five years or so. Needless to say I don’t remember much from each episode, but i really like the manga. I also wish this was an actual 12-24 episodes anime, not just an OVA, but hey, it’s still a little bit entertaining. The art style is also really cute.
Title: Hori-san to Miyamura-kun
Director: Natsume Shingo
Watched language: Japanese
Genre: Comedy, romance, school, shounen
Studio: Gonzo, Hoods Entertainment
Episodes: 4
Release year: 2012

Pokémon (series 5) I still use Pokémon as a background show whilst doing something else, but wow. After quite a bad season of Black and White, this really was a turn of events. First of all - the visuals. The visuals are stunning! The animations are good and the colors just pop! The story and plot are better than the previous series, and I love the characters this time. When you get used to the new four person travel company you also find that they are all important to the story in different ways. None of them are put aside, and the character growth we’re witnessing over time is great. It’s good to see that Ash actually can think for himself in a deeper and more reflecting way. He hasn’t forgotten his emotions after all. The music is also great and is a good match to the story and happenings. All in all I would say this is one of the better seasons in a while, and I would like to see more in this style! So I’m curious to see what happens after Sun and Moon again.  Title: Pokémon the Series: XY Director: Tetsuo Yajima, Kunihiko Yuyama Watched language: English Genre: It’s Pokémon! What more do you need?  Studio: OLM Episodes: 140 episodes Seasons:     15: XY (48 episodes)    16: XY: Kalos Quest (45 episodes)    17: XY&Z (47 episodes) Release year: 2013 / 2014 / 2015  Synopsis:  15/16) Pokemon XY follows the group as they travel throughout Kalos in pursuit of their ambitions - Ash challenging Pokemon gyms, Clemont learning from Ash, and Serena searching for what exactly her dream is. Along the way, they meet new friends, face new rivals, and continue to thwart Team Rocket's schemes, all the while discovering a little about the mysteries of mega evolution. 17) The journey of Ash and his friends through the Kalos region continues! After Ash obtains his seventh gym badge, the group is moving toward the next town when Bonnie discovers a mysterious Pokemon resting in her pochette. Soon given the name Squishy. It quickly becomes apparent that Squishy is the target of a mysterious group clad in bright red suits known as Team Flare, aiming to capture the new Pokemon to further their agenda. But when Ash and the gang realize that the enigmatic organization has no intention of treating Squishy with any decency, they take a stand in opposition to Team Flare's plans, daring to fight back. With Gojika's predictions looming above them, Ash aims for his final gym badge while Serena contests for her last Princess Key in order to be able to compete at the TriPokalon Master Class. But as Team Flare begins to move in search of the mysterious Z, the stories of Pokemon XYand Pokemon XY: Mega Evolution cross paths as Ash and his friends, along with Team Rocket, get caught up in a scheme that could put Kalos in great danger.

Violet Evergarden  Netflix showed me this as soon as it aired, and I started watching it quite early on. This anime is so pretty, but also so slow - a little bit to slow for my taste. Therefore I didn’t manage to watch more than a couple of episodes at the time, and instead i ended up watching other animes with more action and a faster timeline. A little over a year after I’m finally done! Just binged the last 7 episodes to get it over with. The story itself  is nice, and for me the 13 episodes is enough. The character gallery is a good mix and the character developments are impressive as well, over the short period of time. It’s a beautiful show to watch and it’s worth watching all because of the visuals, but the story as well.  Title: Violet Evergarden Director: Taichi Ishidate Watched language: Japanese Genre: Drama, fantasy, slice of life Studio: Kyoto Animation Episodes: 13 + 1 movie Release year: 2018  Synopsis:  The story revolves around Auto Memory Dolls: people initially employed by a scientist named Dr. Orland to assist his blind wife Mollie in writing her novels, and later hired by other people who needed their services. In the present time, the term refers to the industry of writing for others. The story follows Violet Evergarden's journey of reintegrating back into society after the war is over and her search for her life's purpose now that she is no longer a soldier.

Mezzo Forte Some friends and I gathered up for an evening with anime movies, and we watched a lot of different ones, and awesome ones. We also watched and OVA series to start off the chabang; This one! It was a cool story and all the minutes were packed with action, and some sort of fan service (but not to much). It was kind of cool with two episodes, but I kind of wanted to see more of them when it ended. The art style was also cool (and very early 2000s, logically enough). Would absolutely watch again some time.  Title: Mezzo Forte Director: Yasuomi Umetsu Watched language: Japanese Genre: Action, comedy, sci-fi Studio: Arms Episodes: 2 OVA episodes Release year: 2000 Synopsis: Momokichi Momoi is a brutal baseball owner with mob connections. A mysterious old man hires Mikura and the Danger Service Agency to kidnap Momokichi. But the DSA has bigger problems standing in their way, namely Momokichi's daughter Momomi, a young girl with a twisted mind and a loaded gun. Momomi has a reputation as a cold-blooded killer who strikes fear in her adversaries. Now the DSA must find a way to accomplish their mission without getting slaughtered in the process.

Oneechan ga Kita I was having a look around Crunchyroll, then i hit the “random” button, and this was the match. I read the description and thought this would be a waste of time. And then I realized that the episodes are only 3 minutes long! So I gave the first episode a go. So yeah, I was hoping that my 100th anime would be something more exciting, but no, a very short comedy. There’s nothing new here (with a big sister who’s way to obsessed with her little brother) except the length which makes this more bearable!  Title: Oneechan ga Kita / My Sister Came  Director: Yoshihide Yuuzumi Watched language: Japanese Genre: Comedy, slice of life  Studio: C2C Episodes: 12 + 1 special Release year: 2014 Synopsis:  The story revolves around Tomoya Mizuhara, a 13-year-old boy who suddenly gains a big sister when his father remarries. 17-year-old Ichika is a little strange, and her affection for Tomoya is rather overwhelming, if not scary. On top of things, Ichika's friend Ruri is the ultimate sadist. Then there is Ichika's big-breasted quarter-Japanese friend Marina.

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online Every time I see something related to Sword Art Online I always almost go crazy - as in “I need to watch!”. I don’t know why I liked the original series so much, but everytime I hear the music and see the action I get the urge to watch it again. So what is better than getting different kinds of spin offs? With only 11 episodes there’s a lot going on, and not much time to pause things. I like the fast paced rythm of the anime, and I wonder if I get to see more of this. I simply want more! Title:  SAO Alternative: Gun Gale Online  Director: Masayuki Sakoi Watched language: Japanese Genre: Action, fantasy, game, military, sci-fi Studio: Studio 3Hz Episodes: 12 + 1 special Release year: 2018 Synopsis: Karen Kohiruimaki always felt out of place in the real world. Due to her extreme height, she found it hard to make friends with other girls her age. Everything changes when she's introduced to VR and Gun Gale Online. In GGO, Karen is free to play the cute, chibi avatar of her dreams!

Zankyou no Terror I’ve had this in my “plan to watch list” for soo long! And since my boyfriend strongly recommended this to me, I decided to check it out! And almost four hours later I’m done.. All those feels. It’s only 11 episodes, but they get so much out of it! The characters are so mysterious and the plot even more so. The music suits the anime really well and I really want more, even though the ending was good.  Title: Zankyou no Terror / Terror in Resonance  Director: Shinichirō Watanabe Watched language: Japanese  Genre: Detective, mystery, thriller  Studio: MAPPA Episodes: 11  Release year: 2014 Synopsis:  Painted in red, the word "VON" is all that is left behind after a terrorist attack on a nuclear facility in Japan.
