I am so so so so so deeply tired but I think we need to make a uQuiz on Reagan vs Trump so the kids know how bad another Trump presidency would be for the long term. just a list of all the horrible shit these celebrity shills both did in office bc I think over the pandemic we just. forgot what those four years were like. and just the reminder that both of these garbage men bungled a pandemic and indirectly killed millions of people through their inaction might make some of y'all go "hey we could have worse then genocide joe"

the fact that 1) this is what is considered 'fat characters' in this show and that 2) I have never seen them before in my life really does just double down on my conclusions in the post above.
stop recommending this shit to people like it's actually good rep! it's trash! enjoy your trash in peace but stop acting like it's elevating cinema and defending the artistic choices like they're not the shit biases of a shit creator who fired all her original cast.
idk man, there's just something about hazbin hotel that feels like a step backwards in media like. we're back to "drug-sniffing cock-sucking whore" being the setup and the punchline at once. we're back to creators who treat their fans and the original cast terribly, all in the name of fragile ego and clout. we're back to an entire cast of exclusively tall and hyper-skinny character designs. can we stop pretending it's anything but south park for fatphobic yaoi fangirls?

I really think we should be talking more about how Trump owes the courts ~1.7 billion dollars from his civil fraud and defamation cases so far (that he is struggling to pay) and is very likely running for President to either legally forgive his own debts or coax other billionaires to pay his bonds and legal fees in exchange for power like he did the last time he was elected
so like. I think the 'eat the rich' website should be way, way, way more the fuck upset about the chance that the inaction of the non-voting populace could allow someone with such a blatant price tag control one of the most powerful countries in the world by the end of this year.

like. we're electing a President whether you like one or not. I get the rage and the denial to accept a choice between two shitty old white men but. there's not a third option that's feasible and abstaining from voting just gives Trump more votes in comparison. you can't vote with your feelings alone.

Palestine and the US election
I’m done with Twitter soundbite takes that voting blue = supporting genocide. I see a lot of people making an argument that goes like this: "Biden has sent arms to Israel, helping its government commit genocide against Palestine. Therefore, voting for him in the 2024 US election, if he is the Democratic nominee, is supporting genocide, and NOT voting for him helps Palestine." There's a lot wrong with this view, so let's break it down.
It's true that Biden has sent a lot of arms to Israel and bypassed Congress multiple times to do it, and it's indefensible. I'm ashamed that any US politician would help Israel wage its brutal, genocidal war against the Palestinian people. As one of Israel's closest partners, the US could actually be using its leverage right now to put pressure on Israel’s government—I’m thinking about how apartheid in South Africa fell, in part, because of international pressure. That's what should be happening, but instead the US government is literally just helping Israel kill Palestinians.
I wish there were a strong pro-Palestine candidate in the upcoming election. The best bet in that regard would probably be Bernie Sanders, since he's prominent enough, well-liked enough, and has good ideas, not just on this issue but on many things (and yeah, he's way too old, but so are the current frontrunners). But he's already ruled out another run. Unless an amazing candidate materializes and wins the Democratic nomination (please vote in the primaries where you live), it will probably be Biden running against Trump. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s likely.
Here's what people need to understand: the election will not be "genocide Joe" vs. "pro-Palestine candidate." It will most likely be a choice between these two candidates:
On the one hand, Biden, who has armed Israel, but can be pressured to change his policies because he can be pushed left; who is not a wannabe dictator; who will not destroy what's left of the country's democratic norms; who will not encourage coups, political assassinations, or jail his political opponents; who will not utterly stifle dissent.
Or on the other hand, Trump, who is beholden to a fanatical evangelical base that backs Israel no matter what, that actually wants more conflict because they are part of a death cult. Trump, who is not susceptible in any way to pressure from the left, but is susceptible to pressure from the right and the far right. Trump, who has been clear all along about his desire to be a dictator; who will destroy what's left of democratic norms; who has already encouraged a coup to overthrow a democratic election, encouraged the assassination of his own vice president, and is openly planning to jail his political opponents if he returns to the White House.
(This isn't even touching on Trump's positions on trans rights, gay rights, women's rights, the environment, policing, immigration, or his racism against every group he could be racist against, or his liability for sexual assault, or a whole bunch of other issues).
There's a very convincing argument that Netanyahu actually wants Biden to lose the US election and Trump to win. That's because Netanyahu knows that Biden has in the past responded to pressure from his own party and the public. If there are a lot of people criticizing his policies, it gives him pause. Trump doesn't operate like that. If millions of Americans criticize his policies as inhumane he just lashes out at them. In short, Biden views criticism from the left as a liability that he has to act on. Trump views criticism from the left as an incentive to be even worse.
Biden is not the candidate I want. But you need to understand that if Trump wins the election, he won't just arm Israel like Biden is doing now: he will do that and more. Not only will he help Israel escalate its war, your very freedom of speech to support Palestine will be under attack. Trump might even decide that financial support for Palestinians or charities that help Palestine = financially supporting terrorism, and use that as a pretext to arrest and jail people. You think he and his far right goons wouldn't go that far? If Trump wins this election, you shouldn't be surprised if this kind of thing happens, and much worse.
Do you want the US to accept Palestinian refugees? Because it won't accept them under a Trump presidency. A key Republican talking point in this election is "the US shouldn't take Palestinian refugees because they're probably all terrorists." This isn't just a Trump thing, it's something other Republicans are saying, but obviously you can imagine where Trump would fall on this issue given his infamous Muslim ban and conflating refugees with terrorists. These are just a few examples of how Trump would actually be even worse for Palestine than Biden—which is saying something.
In this upcoming election there is no neutral option. There is no morally pure option. There just isn't, I'm sorry. Refusing to vote will not help Palestine. Refusing to vote will only help Trump win, and will give every single person in the United States who is fighting for a better world a significantly harder battle to fight.
It goes without saying that there are things everyone should do to help Palestine besides voting in an election. But I'm writing this post that is about voting because I'm genuinely worried by how many so-called leftists want to give up their right to vote—a right that older generations had to fight tooth and nail for—because they think it won't achieve anything. If voting didn't achieve anything, Republicans wouldn't be trying so hard to suppress your vote.
I'll conclude by saying that nuance is not this site's specialty, but please try to understand what I'm actually saying here before attacking me in the notes. Finally, people being antisemitic or islamophobic on this post will be blocked. People denying that Israel is committing genocide against Palestine will be blocked. Trump supporters, tankies, and people who say that Biden and Trump are the same will be blocked. So will people who say "voting is pointless" or "but Biden did this bad thing—" Biden fucking sucks, I know that very well, so if you're going to try to make that argument to me then stop right now and read the post again.

Another day, another slew of posts from people calling for a boycott of the United States Election as a method of campaigning for change. (Refusing to participate in your shitty democracy will not actually improve the democracy btw) So! Here's a reminder that half of the country seems hellbent on re-instating a guy who is truly, comically worse than 'Genocide Joe' and it sounds like we need a reminder on how bad he was the first time.
List of horrible things Trump did in office, in no particular order:
Pulled out of the Paris Accord, claiming that climate change was not a big enough concern
Slashed regulations in safety and environmental impact in nearly every industry, some of which Biden has re-instated
Put Betsy DeVos in charge of education where she funneled money from public schools to private Christian schools and who got slammed in a class action lawsuit for her unwillingness to forgive fraudulent student loans
Put two judges on the Supreme Court which then went to repeal Roe vs Wade
Constantly downplayed COVID-19, incorrectly claimed 85% of people who wore masks got COVID anyway to justify why he didn't wear one when it messed up his spray tan, and overall horribly handled the pandemic in a way that still affects people every day
Scaled back SNAP (food stamps) to ‘save taxpayers money’ affecting 700,000 people
Pulled troops out of the Syria-Turkey border without consulting Congress or the Pentagon, leaving hundreds of thousands of people to die or be bombed
This is not even close to everything he did, because we’re still investigating what he did with all those classified documents (though even Fox News is worried that the deaths of dozens of international agents were a result of Trump leaking their identities to his foreign friends) and he keeps talking about how he wants to make himself President for Life. Even if we did somehow manage to elect a third party President, they wouldn't be able to do anything without getting all of the Dems and all of the GOPs on their side, and if you think that a centrist like Biden hasn't gotten much done you are not prepared for the nothing that Jill Stein will do if we get her elected.
“But all of our options are shit!”
I know! But one of our options is a con artist and a rapist who keeps insisting his ex-President status makes him immune to any prosecution, and the other is a union-supporting old man heading a government that is currently unified in allowing genocide. If you’re going to insist on throwing your vote away, keep in mind the thousands of people still attending Trump's rallies who have already proven they will show up in some of the worst winter weather conditions ever to prove their loyalty and think about what it would be like if we had to deal with them forever.
"Why can't we just burn it all down and start over?"
A civil war (because that's what it would be) would cause even more damage to vulnerable populations, and if you are wanting to mitigate harm you have to do the boring shit like vote and volunteer and talk to your neighbors. Life isn't a Marvel movie. The good guys aren't the ones with with the giant robots, and we can't save the world in 210 minutes with some vindicating violence and perfectly timed explosions. Changing the world is slow, and messy, and involves more 'being civil with e people you don't initially agree with' than anyone wants to make a movie about.
But if Trump gets the presidency back, he is never going away. As one of the biggest and most powerful nations in the world, this is not a risk we can take. We have a responsibility to the rest of the world to not blow this election in a fit of (justified) outrage.
Remember Reagan? How a celebrity got to be president and ruined so many people's lives decades after his death, including horribly mishandling a pandemic because treating it like an illness and not a punishment/inconvenience wasn't on his agenda? Do we really wanna go through that again?
Vote blue. Even slow progress is progress.
Don't give up.

Hello Everyone!
Today is the first day of the weeklong strike for a ceasefire in Gaza.
I have realized that I do not think the message has spread far, at least on this website. This might be due to the lack of internet in Gaza, it has been down for days. Not much can be said by the citizens there, it's like some people forgot about them. I encourage all of you to share this post, or make your own, letting everyone know about this strike. This is something that should transcend the aesthetic of your blog. My blog was a gimmick blog, but for this week, it is a blog for spreading information and awareness.
Bisan Odwa (@wizard_bisan1 on instagram) has called for this strike. She is a journalist from Gaza, who has been experiencing this horrid violence for 15 weeks. 107 days. 2568 hours.
These were the images she posted, calling for this strike:

Reblog this, share this. Do not stop until every supporter of Gaza knows what we must do this week.
Free Palestine, Free Gaza, Ceasefire now!

Since we're in an election year, I'm gonna politely suggest that people be very mindful of what they post and share so that they're not spreading outrage bait. There's a lot of horrible things going on globally (specifically the ongoing massacre in Palestine, lest anyone assume I'm trying to downplay that by being general), but let's try to limit what we share to things that are from verified sources (links to news articles or tweets from authenticated users) to keep misinformation from spreading.
Here is a reminder on how negative emotions can become 'addicting' (and that no one is immune to clickbait or propaganda - including me)
Now, as a social media platform that has to ride the line between being a diary (or addressing a small group of friends) and being a soapbox (making posts that are intended to 'break containment' as this one is) so I hope I'm not coming across as demanding that no one expresses anger or pain as atrocities continue to be inflicted on vulnerable people.
Please try to be avoid making or sharing unfounded, exaggerated claims on what is factually occurring. I specifically mention it is an election year because this website is very US-centric and has been used to spread misinformation with the explicit goal of swinging the 2016 election... and succeeded.
All I'm really saying here is; people are hurting and dying and we need to keep talking about that (or more importantly HELPING THEM however we can) but let's also not blindly spread unverified claims that sow discord and despair. Let's NOT do the facists and colonizers work for them, yeah?

Do antishippers consider themselves conservatives?
Wikipedia quotes are in orange to provide definitions to clarify my point: American conservatives tend to support Christian values, moral absolutism, traditional family values, and American exceptionalism, while opposing abortion, euthanasia, same-sex marriage, and transgender rights.
Further breakdown of points: Christian values include the concept of 'sin' as a moral failing and heavily stigmatize sex for any method other than for heterosexual procreation, and a goal of 'purity from sin' includes the absence of sinful thoughts. It includes censorship of sexual content, especially in films and on television, sexual abstinence outside marriage and abstinence-only sex education to protect children from topics that may harm them.
Traditional family values places a parent (usually the father) as the head of the household, with a submissive wife and obedient children who are seen as property. It encourages families, rather than the government, to take care of children. It is also used to advocate against an enormous list of ideologies, including feminism (which disrupts the masculine center of power) and divorce (which disrupts the traditional family model)
Moral absolutism is an ethical view that some (potentially all) actions are intrinsically right or wrong, regardless of context or consequence. It can also be referred to as black and white thinking.
To quote fan-lore: Anti-shipper is someone who is against the portrayal of certain romantic relationships. Since the mid-2010s, the term is most often used to refer to a fan who believes that it is morally wrong to ship some ships.
In contrast, the general concept of a pro-shipper is that they believe "fiction is not reality" and often see every ship as valid, regardless of the opinions others may have towards the ship. Proshippers and Antishippers most often butt heads regarding (perceived or literal) representations of incest, non-con or dub-con, underage or age gap romances.
Please note that your own individual race, sexuality, religion, etc. do not exclude you from either category. Being LGBTQ and being liberal are two different, though often overlapping, categories.
If you send me any kind of hate, you owe me $1 per message.

the entitlement of military vets astounds me. I despise the conditions that sends someone into that profession (lack of better career opportunities, lack of education, or even just Head-Ass Bigotry) and I fully support the idea that the government should do a way better job at helping veterans recover from the physical and emotional trauma they experience. But if you expect me to give you a discount on your coffee or thank you for shooting civilians overseas, I'm going to kick you in the fucking teeth. Everyone is traumatized. You're not special for doing it in khakis and camo.

There's discourse going around western leftist social media about some factions of people expressing despair and exhaustion when faced with never ending bad news coming in from Gaza (understandable) while other factions express frustration that personal comfort seems to be taking precedent over doing everything you can to halt a genocide (also understandable) ... but I do want to bring up one point. Activism burnout is real.
For the people who are 'exhausted' by all the bad news, here's an article on rethinking your activism to avoid burnout... and an encouragement to not complain in public spaces (which most social media seems to be these days). Save your despair for private messages, and keep promoting uplifting and actionable information if you need a 'break' from all the bad news.
For the people angry at those publicly taking a break, a luxury that others cannot afford; I understand. You see all this suffering and you're horrified by people who seem to want to avoid engaging with a horrible reality. But shaming people into action doesn't work. You cannot pour from an empty vessel, and you are not the arbiter of who has 'suffered enough' to make up for their privilege.
There is only so much we can do from outside Gaza. And tearing each other down for not doing 'enough' will not help anyone.

'antishipper and proshipper' discourse is just the next generations 'I'm not like other girls' brain rot, but man I wish it wasn't a recurring part of the teenage experience to make a caricature of the demographic that society associates you with just to violently fantasize about how evil they are and how you're so much better than them
