Do you guys think we’ll get Loid and Yor’s first date after she got shot in the butt animated?

I am hoping it is episode 16. It’s an extra mission, so I hope they don’t skip it because it would be interesting to see the contrast between that date and the next one after Fiona’s intro, which will likely be towards the end of the cour.

I love that Bond is a “outcast” just like the Forgers. Sure they all have their own secret identities, but more importantly he’s an older dog. Older dogs have a much harder time getting adopted. And yet…here we are in SxF world. It’s really beautiful 🌺 🐶

This might be an unpopular opinion…Chapter 68 was funny and cute, but it was kind of ‘meh’ overall. I’m over the siscon gag in SxF.

Like I understand where Endo sensei might be going with it with Yuri and Yor being extremely dependent on each other growing up, but I would love to see Yuri grow into his own as a character and develop some independence from his much beloved sister. It would be interesting to get into the backstory of how and why he got roped into the Secret Police, maybe a day to day on his life in it, some dynamics with coworkers. I’d much rather see that than Yuri’s jealousy of Loid, which has been reiterated time and time again.

Yor/Thorn Princess Feels Underdeveloped

I love SxF. I love these characters. But I just have to say something that continues to bother me…

I’m disappointed with Yor’s character arc so far. I’ve read the manga up to the latest chapter (67.2), and while she has had some amazing moments, I really don’t feel like she has any personal ambitions outside of her relationships with Loid, Anya and Yuri.

I definitely want those relationships to blossom, but while it feels like both Loid and Anya have goals and are developing outside of their dynamics within the family structure, I don’t see much of that with Yor.

Loid’s core motivation is to prevent war so children won’t cry and there will be some semblance of world peace. Anya’s goal is to help Loid, befriend Damian and do well in Eden College. What are Yor’s overarching goals?

Her biggest arcs so far have been 1) worrying about being a good wife and 2) whether or not she should give up the one thing this story decided she is good at (being an assassin) for her pretend family. These are great goals, but shouldn’t there be more depth to her character?

The cruise arc was amazing but I don’t feel like it developed her character much other than to show us what we already knew — she is getting attached. I was hoping we’d see some goals about where she sees herself with her career as an assassin within that framework and the Garden hierarchy, whether or not she wants to take on more responsibility, what kind of world she wants to see through her work as an assassin. Even something related to political ideology could have led to interesting convictions/passions for her work as an assassin. Something. Literally anything about her job/career/assassin work/a personal goal for her own self-fulfillment/etc. Something not related to being a mother/wife.

I mean, it’s been nearly 68 chapters. It’s clear that she has a deep sense of pride in her job, but that’s more “tell” than “show” in this story apparently.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it. It’s just something that has irked me because I know Endo sensei has the writing talent to do all of it. But I’m wondering if it will ever happen. Maybe she’s meant to simply be a side character. Maybe the Melinda Desmond arc will help flesh out her character. I hope so.

I just love this piece so much because it perfectly exemplifies so much of what I love about Loid/Yor. Yor is worried about being “normal” while Loid is just like, “Fuck normal. Fuck conventional society.” 😮‍💨

Oh definitely. Totally agree. I’m not a fan of love triangles either. It would just be funny/cute if it was like a short half chapter or even a side story. Nothing that is reoccurring throughout. I’m not sure there will be though, but it’s fun to think about! ✨

That’s a good point about the reason being something more compelling. And it’s completely within character for Loid to be prepared for something like this, esp. with the way the Director was treating him.

I love this setting and these characters so much that I want the stakes to be higher, I want to see them struggle and be a little fearful of their happy lives being upended, even if it doesn’t happen that way in the near future.

I suppose this is a comedy first and foremost so I should maybe chill with expectations 🫢

I feel like a lot of people might find themselves a bit disappointed by the lack of action and greater consequences in the latest chapter, considering the reactions I've seen for the previous one. But I don't think Endo sensei planned for this particular story to have long-lasting consequences in the first place.

It was established from the very beginning that Twilight was well aware of Gorey's moves and that he decided to play along.

So for Twilight, of all people, not to consider the worst possible outcome (that's a pretty common occurrence in the country he lives in) and not to take countermeasures in advance would be pretty much out of character. I don't think someone as experienced as him would make that mistake. Besides, it looks like being reported as a spy is something that he always keeps on the back of his mind.

What he didn't take into consideration though is that his friend is a little shit who wouldn't pass an opportunity to handcuff him🤭

Question about chapter 56:

On page 8, does Yor say “I hope this peace can go on forever and ever” out loud or is it something she just thinks about? Because the next panel is Loid looking at her some kind of way, and I’m not sure if it’s simply in response to what she said or something else entirely that is being foreshadowed for down the line.

I think that age range is reasonable. I feel like he’s slightly older than Yor, but not by much. But I don’t get the sense that he’s younger than her; he just has too much wisdom sometimes and doesn’t sound like someone who is in their mid-20s.

How old do you all think Loid is?? 👀 I’m thinking between 28-30 years old.

** Chapter 62 spoilers **

Chapter 62 was heartbreaking in so many ways. The fact that his father was so mean and basically told him that he would never be good enough. Maybe in some ways Loid wanted to prove him wrong. The pain of him realizing his friends died twice. Twice. I can’t imagine what that does to a person’s soul. It reminded me of when he was fondly looking on at those kids playing in the street during an outing earlier in the story.

Everyone he’s ever known or loved vanished into thin air because of war, violence, greed, etc. It’s definitely easier to sympathize with how cynical and jaded he is in the “current” time.

He deserves all the hugs, smiles, and happiness in the world. That //has// to be end game, right guys? Right? 😶

I love your thought process in deciphering this through! Yes it does seem he’s somewhere between 28-31ish. He seems a little more mature than Yor in some ways, whereas she is more mature than him in others.

Whoops! I haven’t entirely caught up w/ the manga (will tonight and I’m excited!!) but that makes sense about his friends. It seems he got a little sentimental in episode 3 when he was observing those kids playing together in the city streets below during the family outing.

How old do you all think Loid is?? 👀 I’m thinking between 28-30 years old.
