Please give us your top5 (or 10 if you are generous) headcanons for Lucio

(Boy, narrowing these down was hard!)

For every deal for power made with Vlagnagog, a future child of the Beetle Clan was wiped from existence and the farmable land around the Scourge village would wither until there'd be few resources left. Eventually this left the clan nearly infertile by the time Montag was born, and by the time he left, there was no choice left but to raid to survive.

Morga made a deal specifically to have an heir, but made the mistakes of expecting a pregnancy from magic to be easy and that her child would naturally know how to behave and succeed. No more children being born after him, Morga realized she'd likely damned her tribe and moved them societally away from making further deals. It was during this time Vlagnagog was usurped by Vlastomil after becoming too weak to fight.

Lucio developed magic at a young age, hence his fascination with things relating to it as an adult. However, tribal custom dictated witchcraft was not a true measure of one's prowess, and fearing that her son would neglect his more physical studies and "cheat", Morga tried to drown it out of him when he was six (an existing cultural "out" for that situation), leaving his magic stunted (if not outright turning him into a sink).

The one passive magical ability that remains for him is his ability to understand and communicate with animals, in essence why he doesn't bother providing any of his pets with "traditional" training and why the staff thinks his menagerie is more feral than not. While ill-behaved for nearly everyone else, they love him as a result, as he treats them exactly how they want to be treated.

While Mercedes and Melchior are his hunting dogs by design, as sighthounds (and quite intelligent familiars), their secondary function, despite sharing a brain cell with him, was also to help guide him back to the palace when he inevitably got lost.

Lucio does in fact have a purpose for Camio; he talks things out to him a la a programming duck, be it regarding a problem with a speech or business arrangement or just as an emotional support cockatoo. Lucio talks to him so much and says so many things to his living diary that Camio can form sentences independent of what has been said to him, all entirely in an avian version of Lucio's voice.

When Julian cut off Lucio's arm the first time, it was lower down, at about the elbow. Due to the fact that the amputation took place on a live (and dirty) battlefield, gangrene and sepsis were soon not far off, and though being delirious with fever prevented Lucio from being aware of it happening, he's referred to Julian as a "hack" ever since.

Lucio has more PTSD than one would expect by looking at him. His sleep suffers when he's alone from nightmares of everything from his mother to beetle swarms to being lost in the wilderness to having his arm amputated. As such, he sleeps much more soundly when accompanied by someone in his bed (and if sleeping with them convinced them to stay? It didn't seem like a bad idea at the time). When no one was in his bed, he'd have one of his dogs on either side of him, and their fur would bring him back to being swaddled.

Despite how his amputation came to be, Lucio isn't actually ashamed of his scar or his disability. His visibly-stunning prosthetic functioned as an advertisement for just how tough he was, in a "you should have seen the other guy" sense, which is why he tries to draw attention to it with most of his wardrobe. He only doesn't take it off in public because that would be exposing a tactical weakness in removing his ability to parry.

While there have been plenty of people "playing the Fool" throughout different points in time, Lucio is the OG Fool Mantle-holder during the timeline before and during the game (and specifically was in the "reversed" alignment. MC may or may not have originally the "Devil" given their chain-breaking abilities), and when the Apprentice "stole" Lucio's body, they spliced his Fool alignment (and became upright).

The fact is that during the last two weeks I fell for Lucio really hard while playing his route and the thought of him as a child gave me so much inspiration.

I really worked hard on this because I never drew children and I had to explore new graphics but I think that this week of drawing non-stop was worth it!

Lovely people of the fandom can you please help me with a thing, it’s game related!
