When people get a little too gung-ho about-
wait. cancel post. gung-ho cannot be English. where did that phrase come from? China?
ok, yes. gōnghé, which is…an abbreviation for “industrial cooperative”? Like it was just a term for a worker-run organization? A specific U.S. marine stationed in China interpreted it as a motivational slogan about teamwork, and as a commander he got his whole battalion using it, and other U.S. marines found those guys so exhausting that it migrated into English slang with the meaning “overly enthusiastic”.
That’s…wild. What was I talking about?

My cat has to wear a cone this week and it made me think of an angel whose halo is a cone.

We were watching Masters of the Air, and I can’t help but wonder what it must be like to be a German actor.
You read a casting call. Big money, international production, Appletv. All the works.
Then, oh.
You’re a Nazi again.

Sorry to speak this into existence but the fanfic that’s going to be written for this movie might just be the discourse catalyst strong enough to destroy this site

Hi everyone and welcome to “Name That Emotion!” the game where I show you a face, and you tell me what emotion they’re feeling. I’m your host, Wei Wuxian - let’s play!
WWX: First up, my little brother, the Pride of Yunmeng, Jiang Cheng!
contestant: Easy one, that’s definitely anger.
WWX: Nope, sorry, this is actually “I am so relieved you are okay!”
JC, from the podium: SHUT UP YOU FUCKING LIAR! I’M SO MAD AT YOU FOR LETTING YOURSELF GET HURT AGAIN I COULD KILL YOU, YOU JERK!!
WWX: See?
WWX: Okay, next up we have my best bud, the Ghost General, Wen Ning!
contestant: This one’s… nervous?
WWX: That’s actually “I’m excited to be here,” but with Wen Ning, nervous is always a correct answer - points!
WWX: And finally, Light-bearing Lord and light of my life, Lan Wangji!
contestant: …
contestant: Okay, no, this man is definitely NOT having an emotion whatsoever.
WWX: Ooooh, wrong again, this is “I cannot believe you roped me into this; you will pay for it, carnally, later” - good try though!

Been hearing this is a problem again. Don't be a dick in bookmarks, folks. And yes while I made this image, I'm giving free reign. Take it. Spread it far and wide. Because I'm hearing that some readers don't know that their bookmarks are visible.
