I'm the endo neutral anon and yeah I understand some endo neutrals are not bad and are just scared or confused with the information (we should have said that, and specify that we don't consider every endo neutral to be pro endo in disguise but we were mad and unfortunately we don't think well when mad /lh /not an excuse)

But yeah I honestly understand others experiences with them and the reasoning for being endo neutral, is just our personal experience being more "pro endos in disguise" /g

It’s a topic that can have a lot of different sides. It’s okay to have differing opinions and things. Don’t beat yourself up over it, anon.

Personal experiences will show a lot of different things and it’s an experience in itself when others talk about their own as well.

On the number name thing-

It's very reassuring in a way to hear more on it from more people directly impacted by it. We aren't a RAMCOA survivor, but we have an alter who's name includes a string of numbers because it has a very personal meaning to her, and she also struggles with specific parts of our trauma. But then we went looking for system servers to hang out in, and one pretty large one we joined on a whim had a rule that you couldn't have that and having even 1 number puts you on "thin ice." If you had anything beyond like. 3 numbers or something. They would force you to change your name or else you'd get kicked.

We'd thought that that was the consensus all around for a little bit, and she felt really bad about it. We are also educated on closed culture names (being a system of color ourselves we very much get it from that side of things lol), and didn't know if it was that sort of situation going on with the number names.

So to hear the points being made and learning more about the general discussion surrounding it is pretty helpful and puts a lot into perspective.

…the rule is also… surprising. A LOT of systems that have number names aren’t just related to 3 numbers.

A majority of ours have ####-#.#.# as an example. And some of those number names cannot be changed. As a means of keeping it for personal reasons or reclaiming it as a name. Forcing someone to change a name is wrong in itself as you never know the meaning of why they have that name. And it is rude to ask regardless if you think it’s “for the greater good” (there is no “greater good” for things like this, stick it to yourself and let it go. You will have better things to care for than a name).

Even as a poc system myself, it’s VERY hard to keep something closed as it’s going to have varying opinions and some might get invited in without others knowing and other times you’ll have people saying that “it’s the internet, we can’t believe you anyways so you’re lying and a faker and you’re racist even though you are part of the culture and trying to reconnect because your family never taught you even though you were disconnected from said family for personal reasons” (<- this does happen) <- same thing of people asking for “proof” can happen to ramcoa systems or anyone with a number name, causing more issues, distress, and an unsafe environment

Anywho, no. Number names shouldn’t be closed off. There’s more than just ramcoa behind it.

The consequences for closing of number names is more prominent than anything positive. Asking for proof, asking for trauma memories for someone to tell you if it was “enough,” people trying to make you tell things, purposefully trying to trigger or cue someone. Yeah, that stuff? Consequences. On top of that? Number names only left to ramcoa systems means that ramcoa systems that have an alter with a number name can’t be able to heal if they’re trying to mingle with the public. We’re too afraid because of how many people tell us that we “can’t use it” or something without us saying that we’re a ramcoa system (in certain spaces).

The cons of putting numbers into one group is also why I don’t join ANY server with strict rules of closed culture because I do not want to be hounded by people asking for proof, documentation, or otherwise. It is not for them to know.

Number names do not have to be ordered and can be anything. Literally.

You can have a large or small string of numbers.

You can have dashes, periods, both.

A number name isn’t just a set thing and it depends on a group or the number itself (related to ramcoa or not).

No organization? That’s fine. It’s a name and that can be anything.

Bunch of zeros, no zeros, dashes, no dashes, decimals, no decimals, letters, no letters, anything.

Hey, we have a question that's sorta been bugging at us lately. With number names, can they just be not organized? really glad to see that there are people who are chill about non-ramcoa systems using number names cuz even though we are a ramcoa system we use number names for completely unrelated reasons (eg robot alters who don't want human names)

Absolutely! It helps both survivors hide and gets the stigma away from number names being used.

Number names aren’t just because of trauma and they shouldn’t have to be smushed to just one group. It will have more consequences and more people asking if someone is a survivor if only ramcoa systems were allowed to use them. It could put survivors into a lot of danger. And it can even lead to non-survivors being harassed or hounded because “they’re not supposed to use the name.”

I don’t like things being closed off to groups due to how many consequences there could and will be.

I have no idea, honestly.

Number names aren’t just a ramcoa thing and they never should be related to such.

There’s other ways that number names can be used. And making it to where a group of people that have specific numbers for groups is extremely dangerous.

It’s why we don’t let anyone know when our sidesys with only number names is around online. Simply for fear and that and because of how people can be.

if you can’t get out of bed, try and sit up instead of lying down. it’ll be better for your back and your blood pressure.

if you can’t shower or have a bath today, try and brush your teeth and clean your ears. it’ll keep you a little cleaner, and we often forget those areas. 

if you can’t get dressed today, change underwear and use some deoderant. it’ll leave you a little fresher until you have the strength to change fully.

We've been following the blog for a bit but this is our first ask ever sent on here.

How's everything been for you? Anything fun or interesting lately? :D

Everything has been pretty okay minus the allergies acting up. But that’s fine. Just means I sneeze more which isn’t entirely bad.

Fun? Not really.

Interesting? George (plant) got munched on by some unknown critter. I’m hoping a caterpillar because they’re just adorable little things to me. Though I do feel bad because he was turned into a meal. But that’s alright. He needs to lose a little height (he still has more growing to do).

Charlotte isn’t growing at all so I might put her out for fodder for the wildlife so they can have a different snack.

Number name discourse really feels like it's coming from a place of entitlement. How else can you explain someone acting like they should own the very concept of numbers?

Honestly, the way I saw it was people going around saying “oh this comes from severe trauma so only this group of people should be able to use them” because people are people.

Entitlement? Maybe. But it’s also just something by that… doesn’t need to be closed to a group of people.

Even now there’s still going to people wanting to say that only ramcoa systems can use numbers as names, but like I always say, that makes all ramcoa systems out to be easier targets.

If you’re going to start cutting people off from being able to use a number as a name, then there is only going to be issues when ramcoa systems use it. “Are you a survivor? Did you genuinely go through something that horrific? Prove it.”

It’s like a lot of people with closed culture. You have to say everything you’re a part of before some will believe you, before they’ll respect you for what you say. Other than that, you’re always white. It clicks the same in my brain for ramcoa.

Using a number name? Prove it. Tell someone what you went through even when it doesn’t need to be public. Get asked if you’re from that area, asked if you’re being serious. Not believed at all regardless and then people will still ask if you’re a survivor.

Number names aren’t just a ramcoa thing. They’re not set to a group of people and there’s way too many singlets and systems wanting to say that it should be ramcoa only. No. It never should be.

And then you’ll always have people with different views on closing something off to a group of people completely. So it’s just a back and forth and a constant strain of discourse and arguments.
