Aroallo culture is thinking all your sexual attraction must also be romantic and then wondering why getting into a relationship with them always makes you so uncomfy!

this inspired me to write a bit of a prose poem. It’s not a vent, but it is longer than most of your other submissions
Aroallo culture is when you’re standing at the stove in your tiny laminate box of an apartment, simmering pasta with beef and tomato sauce, and playing lofi from your glitchy Bluetooth speaker, when you hear a knock at your door. Your Tinder hookup comes in, sporting cargo shorts and crocs, and you have a home cooked meal to offer her — after all, it was 2 hours of public transit for her to get here. Aroallo culture is when, after a rambling bouncing rubber-ball path of a conversation, you begin to touch each other. (Trans culture is when neither of you need to focus overmuch on what’s between your thighs.) The light powers down outside the window as she teaches you how to bite and suck at her skin to leave a proper mark. You learn how to let her teeth go deep into you, too. Aroallo culture is when you lay there and look softly into her eyes, stroking her hair into place behind her ear, like they do in the movies, feeling like a colorblind painter dipping your brush into the most brilliant crimson pigment, hoping you’re making something beautiful for her. You listen to her talk about the one time she might have fallen in love, but it’s only a sentence or two before she trails off. She listens to you about the sincere simplicity of a one-night-stand, how it makes you believe in strangers beyond the label ‘stranger’, and she agrees with you that there’s something big and mysterious about how neither of you will see the other again after this.
Aroallo culture is when, a few weeks later, she comes back for another night in order to catch a morning dentist appointment near your place  — super convenient.

Aroallo culture is liking lots of love-associated things like hearts, cuddles, cute little gestures and fiery love songs on top of being an unapologetically (physically) affectionate person.
But love? Never heard of her.

Aroallo culture is being disappointed that a majority of interesting character exploration in fandom is exclusively tied to romantic relationships or feelings

Aroallo culture is consuming media that still has romance in it, while being neutral about romance, but just being there for all the angst and non-romantic drama. Love drama? NOPE! Just good and old drama with angst that makes great character development!

aroallo culture is people assuming you're aroace after you call yourself aro and debating whether you should say something or not because you're NOT ace but you don't want them to think "S-S-SEX?!?!??! 😰"

aroallo culture is being fine with finding your friends hot, while being respectful of course and only would engage only if they would also be interested, but at the same time getting worried to overstep some boundaries by just finding them attractive

aroallo culture is really loving fuckboy characters conceptually and desperately wanting to see it in a 'everyone involved is into it' dynamic and not a 'this person is just straight up harassing people' dynamic

aroallo culture is remembering your first ever relationship. how your first ever partner wanting all your attention always made you so uncomfortable, but making out with them on the couch is still one of your favourite memories from those years. thinking "oh, this is fucked up of me, i'm taking advantage of them" but when you reflect on it all years later, you realize no. i wasn't in the wrong. they wanted something i didn't. that's all. it wasn't my fault.
