Picard showed us Seven and Tuvok still like, absolutely have problems, but are mostly okay. Prodigy told us the same of Janeway, and that Chakotay immediately got lost in space again. The season 2 sneak peak showed us the emh is fine. Lower Decks showed us that Tom is absolutely not okay but is physically fine at least. Neelix is presumably fine on that outpost he got left on. But on god someone has GOT to get me an update on Harry and B'elanna.

B'elanna I could see going in a couple different directions, but I don't for one second believe Harry "blow myself up on two separate occasions after being home so that I can be back on Voyager" Kim didn't hop on the Protostar the second Chakotay announced that mission

While Michael's tragedy obviously isn't the same as Book's in that she still has a number of loved ones with her, I'm surprised there isn't more textual acknowledgement that neither of them can ever see their families again

#i mean it's still not quite the same bc michael does still have gabrielle #but her bio dad and the s'chn t'gais are lost to her forever #and while her relationship with mirror georgiou is complicated and i wouldn't exactly call her her mother #i do think michael considered her family and now she's gone too #this of course can't compare to being the last of your species #but that's an incredibly rare status that i don't think book has too many peers with #so someone with as much tragedy and isolation in her life as michael is i think the closest he has for comparison #and while i love disco very much #it's emotional beats can sometimes be a bit paint by the numbers #so I'm surprised they don't connect these numbers more #michael burnham #cleveland booker #dsc

#b'elanna/deanna is intriguing #my rarest pair is saavik/caithlin dar (the romulan ambassador from the final frontier) #<this comes with the caveat that i have not actually seen tff bc i did not have access to it when watching trek for the first time #and instead read the novelization #which i imagine gives caithlin much more of a story than the movie does #given that i have gone back and actually watched the first four movies #and the novelizations give everyone but especially new characters like saavik and carol marcus much more of a story #i should reread those books and write a fic abt them

Reactions to 13 and Michael Burnham are my supervillain origin stories. People saying very obviously racist and/or sexist things to do with them and their respective shows and not realising it thinking that makes it not racist and/or sexist is so old. So old. And to be fair, there's a fair amount of homophobia too, it's just I only really fandom on this site and that's much rarer on here than other places.

I don't personally vibe with this, but at least it's significantly more unique and actually suggests some sort of environmental vulnerability that would lead to full time helmets being a cultural mainstay of an entire species. But we get maybe three minutes total of this presentation from L'ak and his uncle combined, whereas L'ak is otherwise presenting as pictured above for the whole of the season thus far, and we haven't seen any others without their helmets

I don't love the design for the Breen faces, or honestly the redesigned suits. Their weird, undefined relationship with... corporeality? Opacity? Whatever is happening there aside given that they don't have to look like that and our main character doesn't, they do look pretty generic. Like, I saw someone a week or two ago mistake L'ak for a farscape alien. And for a species where the idea of a face reveal has been built up for decades, L'ak looking generic 99% of the time is pretty disappointing. Especially since there's not even the snout that the old helmet shape implied

Like I love you so much Disco, but talk about a downgrade

I don't love the design for the Breen faces, or honestly the redesigned suits. Their weird, undefined relationship with... corporeality? Opacity? Whatever is happening there aside given that they don't have to look like that and our main character doesn't, they do look pretty generic. Like, I saw someone a week or two ago mistake L'ak for a farscape alien. And for a species where the idea of a face reveal has been built up for decades, L'ak looking generic 99% of the time is pretty disappointing. Especially since there's not even the snout that the old helmet shape implied
