Dear people of the internet,

At my worst, I was never alone, because at my worst I was online. I wasn't supposed to be, I was eleven, but that didn't stop me. At my worst I found community, people like me. I wasn't out as trans, queer, or diagnosed with anything. I didn't know how bad it would get until I got there, hanging on by a literal thread from me to an IV bag. I met horrible people, and wonderful people. I was traumatized, scared, alone, and a little kid. I had no hope for the future. I had no dreams, I had no inspiration to move forward. I didn't know my place in the world. I didn't think I could make it one more week.

I was afraid of defying the strict mold I was raised to follow, afraid to be anything but the Catholic girl I was raised to be. The internet, in all its horrors, showed me that there were many options, many paths I could follow. I found myself in the stupid memes, and toxic Internet friends that saved me from myself. I acted like a child at times because that's what I was. I didn't have any irl friends, nor any real hobbies.

But now, I do. I have dreams now. I want to be an engineer, I want to work to send people into space. Maybe even see space myself. I am trans. I am agnostic. I am autistic. And I'm authentic and myself despite defying everything I was taught as a child. I am 15 years old and scared, but I am not a child anymore. Not an adult, but not a lost little kid.

I am still depressed, I still lack the diagnosis of many things I should be diagnosed with. I make it to school maybe three times a week. But I know who I am. All thanks to the internet.
