She was just a puppy maker for some fast 💰cash. They didn’t give her medical care, Heartworm prevention or 💞love. When they were done with her they dumped her out in the cruel streets and now look at her mangled front leg.😭 Now she will lose that leg too and maybe her LIFE if we can’t help her quickly. Lucy doesn’t know why she hurts but her leg seems to have a fracture and nerve damage likely needing amputation‼️😢 She will need 🏥 radiographs and surgery at a full service veterinarian to get fixed up for the best chance of a full recovery. pawsitivepawsrescues 🆘 WARNING - TRIGGERING CONTENT 🆘 We truly just don’t have the strength or vocabulary to get across what we are dealing with today. This is Strike. He is 10 weeks old and was given away to horrible people before we saved his litter a few weeks ago. We didn’t know about him until last night. The people who took Strike had children who wanted to play a game of “break the puppy’s legs” - and they succeeded. Strike was rushed to us last night and his x-rays this morning show he has two broken legs. The femoral caps completely broken off his hind legs, he has a broken pelvis, he can’t defecate on his own, and has a long grueling recovery ahead. We have so many words and none at the same time. Our vet team literally cried holding the X-rays this morning. Our team is shaken knowing this evil exists in the world. We are working to press charges while getting him emergency surgery scheduled for tomorrow. His surgery is $2,000 and his recovery will be a long one. Our funds are dangerously low & it’s just not getting any better. In fact, it’s getting worse. Our vet bills alone were $50,000 last week! We are spending more than we are raising & the math just isn’t working. Without continuous incoming donations, we cannot pay our bills and therefore, cannot say yes to dogs in need. We see other rescues closing daily. They just can’t continue in today’s circumstances. We understand & we sympathize. How can we not?! We are facing the very same obstacles every single day. The LAST thing we want to do is close intake, but we need help & we are begging for help now. We founded RDR NYC 7 years ago & we have placed about 9000 animals. We are so proud of all the dogs (& cats) who were saved & given the gift of life. We could not have done this without your generous help & support & for that we are forever grateful. The obstacles we are facing now are not just RDR issues, they are rescue community issues: -very difficult to place even “easy” dogs -lack of fosters -lack of adopters -for every dog adopted, we are getting 2 or 3 dogs returned, some adopted 5+ years ago -harder dogs declining in boarding -24/7 messages & pleas for help -compassion fatigue is real & impacts us all -donations down We are showing you some of the dogs we have saved in 2022. Animals can become destructive and/or try to flee and behave erratically when scared. The sound of fireworks causes fear in most animals and extreme panic in many.
