Summary: Sometimes, a little heat is needed for a cold night like this. And for Eliza, she didn't think that spicy noodles were what her girlfriend meant.

A/N: got inspired to write this from two of my favorite things: monsoon season and spicy noodles!! <3

Eliza giggles as she jumps on a small puddle of water, the splatter staining her white sneakers while her girlfriend Mai Ling playfully glares at her.

“What?” She asks, pouting.

“Nothing.”

Eliza then goes to Mai Ling’s left as she puts her arm around her girlfriend’s waist. Mai Ling returns the gesture, as they make their way on the street.

The quiet road had glistened with raindrops under the lampposts. Cold monsoon air embraced the two women, as Eliza leaned her head on her girlfriend’s shoulder.

As they pass by a convenience store, they exchange a look before they go inside. Eliza immediately heads to an aisle filled with instant noodles, scanning the shelves. Mai Ling does the same, before she picks out two cups of spicy noodles. She then goes to another aisle with triangular rice balls, as she takes two - one for her, and one for Eliza.

“Why didn’t you tell me these are spicy spicy!” Eliza exclaims, the burning sensation igniting her tongue. Mai Ling laughs as her girlfriend struggles to eat her noodles.

“What? Don’t laugh at me,” the blonde continues, as she grabs her carton of banana milk, before she takes a sip.

“It’s not that spicy, you’ll be fine.”

Mai Ling continues eating, watching the woman in front of her. She smiles at her, before she unwraps her triangular rice ball and took a bite out of it.

“How do you eat this type of food so easily? I could never…” Eliza remarked.

The other woman smiled. “You’ll get used to it, don’t worry. Here’s a tip: don’t think too much about the spice. Also, just take small bites of your food.”

So Eliza does what Mai Ling said, as she slowly chews on her noodles, savoring the flavor. “So, how is it?”

“A bit better, I guess.”

Mai Ling smiles. As both of them continued eating, a light rain began to fall outside the window.

Sometimes, a little heat is needed for a cold night like this.

Ah Toy smiles at this, as she leans her head on the other woman’s shoulder. “The sun is shining, and we protect each other. Always.”

“Because I’m in love with you.”

Both of them said at the same time as they chuckled, as they watched a rainbow rise in the horizon.
