Practicing Mediocrity - Alice Sparkly Kat
I believe in mediocrity. It’s one of the reasons why I write so much. If I were trying to make everything monumental, if I believed that everything I did was important, then I wouldn’t get anything done. I wouldn’t know how to do anything. I believe in mistakes and spelling errors and not looking something over before I hit post. I believe in my own shitty writing. I used to work with teens. One of the worst hangups that any young person has is that there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. One of the things that gets in the way of their genius has to do with this belief that something isn’t worth doing if you don’t do it well. Well, I believe in doing things badly, in just doing them, and in not doing them well.

The lonely brain is unique, according to USC researchers - Short Wave - NPR
Lonely people may process the world differently Elisa Baek is a social neuroscientist at the University of Southern California studying the basis of social interaction. This year, she co-authored a study that looked at whether lonely people view the world differently than non-lonely people, specifically among college freshman. The research was published in the journal Psychological Science. She and her collaborators found that while non-lonely people were all similar in their neural responses, lonely people had responses that were really different – not just from the non-lonely group, but also from each other.

What is this?
This is my (@lilium-in-blue) sideblog to hoard links and archive stuff I watched, listened to or read, in English or Italian. If I have something to say I'll write it down, or I'll just share a link and tag the post so I can find it again if I need to.
You, the beautiful person who's reading this, are free to lurk around or talk to me about anything I shared!

Science VS: Personality Tests
Personality tests like the MBTI are all over the internet, the workplace, and dating apps — but some say it’s all a bunch of baloney. So are any of these tests legit? And what can science actually tell us about personality? We talk to psychologists Dr. Alexander Swan, Dr. Emorie Beck, and Dr. Ted Schwaba.
