I Want You Back
Its so great to see all the wedding vendors back up and in business again. I even notice my fellow wedding bands performing live showcases over the next few weeks. This is an encouraging sign that we are beginning to get back to the way things were and hopefully, We are now in a position and a mindset that We must live this pandemic and it cannot stop us from doing what we love. This week I also signed up with Weddings Online. I wasn’t with them or the past two years for obvious reasons but, I’m delighted to be back with this winning team. They have the answer to any wedding question you care to ask.
Its been a busy week for me organising the next few months bookings. I also played a beautiful Ceremony on Saturday for Michael & Geraldine in Clones Church, County Monaghan and then off The Four Seasons hotel where I was blown away by the beautiful décor of the room and the staff friendliness. I had some special requests for the Ceremony
Processional- From This Moment
Lighting of the Candle- The First Time ever I Saw Your Face
Psalm – On Eagles Wings
Unity Candle- You Light Me Up (Tom Baxter)
Offertory- Ag Chriost an Siol
Sign Of Peace- Tobhar Dom Do Lamh
Communion – Hallelujah & Fields Of Gold
Signing of Register – You’ve got a Friend
Ressession- Perfect Day
Father Gerry from the Parish of Kingscourt, County Cavan was officiating the ceremony with his usual brilliance. All in all it was a wonderful afternoon and I took a little video which you cab see on my Instagram page.
This weekend I will be playing in The Headfort Arms Hotel Kells, County Meath on Saturday evening at 5pm. Its been a long time since I’ve played here I think the last time was a dinner dance for Carlanstown Ladies football team or perhaps it was Wedding with my Band. It’s been so long I forgot. Either way I'm looking forward to a great fun evening.

Full Steam Ahead
Hello and welcome to another of my blog posts. I hope 2022 has gotten off to a great start for you and as for me well, it was a busy Christmas with a lot of weddings and solo gigs so this past few weeks I have been taking stock and preparing for the year ahead.
Just before Christmas I was delighted to be awarded a finalist in the Wedding Online awards for “Best Wedding Singer” at this year’s awards taking place in March. I will also be giving my website a little overhaul over the next few weeks as I would like to get my blogposts a wider audience. I also have a podcast in the making and will have this up and running very soon also. In other news you can click on the titles below as I have made available some Spotify playlists for wedding couples to help them choose their.
- Ceremony Music
- Songs for walking down the aisle
- Wedding First Dance
I have also been organising some new sponsorship this year and I will announce more details when everything is conformed.
As for the weddings in 2022 I’m delighted to say that things are busier than ever and this weekend I look forward to making my way over to The Four Seasons, Monaghan to play for Michael & Geraldine’s Ceremony/ Drinks Reception. 2022 has gotten off to a flying start and its full steam ahead for The Brendan McCahey Band.

New Measures Introduced
So again, we have moved into another uncertain period for weddings, bars, clubs, and all the vendors involved. It is understandable considering the surge in the daily covid numbers and unfortunate that our government and health officials didn’t see this coming. However, me must remain positive and have the belief that we can overcome this bump in the road just as we have all the previous bumps over the last few years.
The good news for weddings is that if a venue has an exclusive wedding they can proceed with the normal times as planned. This time of year is usually busy time for Christmas parties and unfortunately the most of our parties have been cancelled as the hotel managers cannot take the chance of clients cancelling in the last minute or perhaps spreading the virus at a gathering.
.On a happier note, we look forward to our first wedding in the stunning Bellinter House, Navan County Meath on Friday. Then on Saturday Morning I go to a church in Castledermot, County Kildare for a wedding ceremony. When I’m finished playing at the ceremony, I make my way back to Carrick across and perform with my band for the “Switching On of the Christmas Lights”. I then finish off the night with a solo performance in the beautiful Nuremore Hotel at 9.30pm. My last performances will be on Sunday Afternoon in “Gerrys Bar” Carolanstown from 4.30pm.
so thankfully a busy weekend in store for myself and the band and I’m hoping the these numbers of cases decrease dramatically over the next two weeks in the hope that we all can enjoy a great Christmas and look forward to better new year.

Something For The Weekend
We are very lucky to be doing what we do in bringing live music to all our clients and their guests and his weekend was no exception. As mentioned in a previous blog We had the pleasure of playing at Mary & Peite’s wedding in Seagrave Barn on Friday. It was a wonderful occasion with a lot of familiar faces in attendance. We had our four-piece band booked for this wedding and they were amazing as always. Mary’s son Gavin got on the stage at the end of the night to blast out a few tunes too and he was terrific. On the Safety side of thigs and to try and minimize the risk of COVID i personally set up all the backline PA and gear and then asked y other band members to set their own gear up separately and just look after their own gear when leaving at the end of the night. We all wore our masks and I just removed mine while singing. We kept our distance from guests and endeavored to keep ourselves and the wedding guest safe too. I finished the night off with a DJ set and everyone was over the moon for a beautiful setting and beautiful night. Oh,, and even Eugene (Manager) sang some Italian opera after the meal. What a star he is. Really hope were beck here again for another celebration.
On Saturday evening I had the pleasure of providing the music for a baptismal party in The Shirley Arms Hotel, Carrickmacross. This is a fantastic place to go for a party, celebration, evening meal or Sunday lunch. Michael the manger runs a really great operation here and the staff are some of the best around. The party was a great success and there were singers, dancers and frolics for the two-hour set. We had a truly great evening. This was one of the best christening parties I’ve[BM1] ever been to. Following this party, I headed off to The Cavan Crystal Hotel to play for a couple of hours in the bar. The bar here has been newly renovated, and it looks great. The atmosphere here was very relaxed with couples and friends chatting over drinks and nibbles so, I kept the music low key and background.
My last performance this weekend was in the stunning Bellingham Castle at a wedding afterparty in the bar. The wedding couple were lovely, and the guests were terrific. I played all sorts from popular music (Dermot Kennedy, Dua Lipa) to classics (Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles) to indie anthems by Radiohead, Bon Ivor, REM. It was a real mix for the few hours, and it was a lot of fun. One guest was a major fan of the band The Doors, so I played lots of songs by The Doors too. This ended what was a great weekend of music and fun.

Heading For The Coast
We are looking forward to another busy weekend Starting this evening at a Wedding in Seagrave Barns, Togher, County Louth. This is a beautifully restored barn and surrounding farmyard made into a Wedding venue. Just along the east coast of Ireland where the sea is within walking distance. I have played here before at a Wedding Ceremony and Drinks Reception but tonight will be the first time with the Brendan McCahey Band.
This beautiful venue is owned and managed by Eugene McGinty & John Cooke. I met Eugene many times at previous Wedding receptions as far as cork and Mayo as he specialises in “Singing Waiters” which always goes down a treat with Wedding Guests. He is the utter professional and it will be fun to meet him again.
Our first Dance tonight will be “Nearest to perfect” By Michael English and We have had request for lots of jives, Quicksteps and waltzes. We will however throw some Rock N Roll and irish singalongs in too. We have also been informed to play songs by ABBA, Amy Winehouse, The Beatles. This all sounds like it’s going to be a right “Knees Up”.

Great to be Back
Great to be Back
I hope you had a lovely Halloween and enjoyed the festivities that this October break gives. Since restrictions have been semi- lifted its thankfully started to see more bars/ venues and weddings happening and The Brendan McCahey Band have started to get back to what We enjoy most:- Weddings.
It has understandably been a logistical nightmare for both Wedding Couples venues and vendors but, I’m so encouraged to see everybody pulling together and helping each other out. This affirms my belief that Ireland has some of the best vendors, bands and venues in the world. The attention and care given to each, and every wedding is really second to none.
I hope going forward on the run up to the end of this year that we can enjoy more weddings and parties unaffected by this pandemic or hopefully nothing more sinister lurking in the wings. Stay safe everyone and hopefully see you at a wedding or party soon. Bx
